Installation failed: Unable to extract to temp directory. EX11

Hi there,
Today I decided to upgrade from ADOBE CS4 toa CC subscription. I am on PC, running WINDOWS 7. My main design computer is 64-bit, my laptop runs 32 bit WINDOWS. I downloaded the app manager and selected apps without problems on my main computer - but as I am trying to install on my Fujitsu Lifebook T900 laptop computer (running 32-bit Windows 7) - I get download problems - so far both Photoshop and Indesign have failed to install. Bridge updated sucessfully.
NOTE: I did uninstall CS4 on my laptop and reboot my system before beginning the CC app download
The error message for INDESIGN states this:
Installation failed
Unable to extract to temp directory. Please contact customer support. (EX11)
Can you help me with how to make this work?
Thanks
Helma Sawatzky

Hi Helma,
Please follow the below steps:
1) Quit Adobe creative cloud desktop application.
2) Click on start button and right click on Properties.
3) Advanced system settings>> Advanced>> Environment Variables>> Highlight first line item and click on Edit.
4) Variable Name: TEMP and Variable value: "C:\Temp". Do the same thing for the second line item.
5) Click Ok and Apply, once done launch Adobe creative cloud and then try to install Indesign once again.
Please let me know if that helps

  • Unable to Extract to Temp Directory (EX11 error for InDesign CC)

    Good Afternoon,
I purchased the annual subscription for the creative cloud suite, for use on my Windows 7 PC.  All programs downloaded and installed just fine, with the exception of InDesign.  I receive the error "Installation failed - unable to extract to temp directory.  Please contact customer support (EX11)."
Screenshot of error provided: Dropbox - Screenshot 2014-09-07 10.16.48.png
In searching through the forums, I found several similar instances; however, I didn't really see any resolutions.  It just so happens that InDesign is the program I need most for a project with a deadline approaching this week.  Figures it would be the one that gives me trouble on the install
Any assistance that could be provided, as timely as possible, would be very greatly appreciated.  Thank you in advance!

I resolve this error by searching through other forums.
Apparently there is a bug where if your Windows account name is longer than 12 characters, you are unable to install InDesign.  My administrator account name is 13 characters.  I created a second administrator account, with the name "test" and I was able to then install InDesign without any issue.
I hope that others who have the same issue I did find this to be helpful.

  • Installation error for Indesign CC "Unable to extract to temp directory. Contact Customer Support EX11". What can I do?

Haven't been able to install Adobe Indesign CC through Creative Cloud. Gives the following installation error "Unable to extract to temp directory. Contact Customer Support EX11". What can I do?

Jeremy Jediel Gongora then it is likely a file permission failure as was previously discussed.  You can find details on how to adjust the file permissions of your temp directory at Error "Exit 6" or "Exit 7" | Install log | Read, write, system file errors | CS5, CS5.5 - http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/error-exit-6-exit-7.html.
I would also recommend reviewing your installation log files for additional error messages.  You can find details on how to locate and interpret the installation log files at Troubleshoot install issues with log files | CC - http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/kb/troubleshoot-install-logs-cc.html.  You are welcome to post any specific errors you discover to this discussion.

Hi, I have problems downloading the software. It says unable to extract temp directory. (EX11). Please help.

  • Extension Manager CC - Installation failed - Unable to extract files (EX20)

I have tried over and over to install the Extension Manager and always get this error. I have tried restarting CC, restarting my laptop, etc. I have installed other CC apps without issue. I am on Windows 7 - which, if you say, that's what you get for running Windows 7, I don't disagree, but it's what my employer stuck me with.
Anyone run across this issue, or more importantly, a solution?
    Appreciate any help
    Thanks
    Scott

Okay it turns out this just had something to do with the .7z file, as I suspected. Eventually I managed to extract that somehow and run the set.exe file manually and got Extension Manager finally installed. Unfortunately, the intent of extension manager is jst to allow me to install extensions, which is where I immediately hit another snag.
I downloaded the Flash Toolkit for CreateJS from here: http://www.adobe.com/products/flash/flash-to-html5.html
When I tried to install this, I got the following error:
"This extension can not be installed, it requires the Flash version in rangle of inclusively between 12 and 12."
Seriously? Is Flash Player 12 even released yet?
This is really making me seriously consider abandoning Adobe products.

  • Installation Failed - Unable to extract files. Press Retry to download again or contact customer support (EX20)

    New to CC
I've tried installing several times and even rebooted and tried again before running anything else, all to no avail.
I have a local administrator account on this company laptop, and everything else has so far installed fine.
    Any ideas?

Let me just make it clear as I didn't above, I'm trying to install Extension Manager CC via the Creative Cloud app on Windows 7 and I get the above error once the download has finished and it attempts to install.

  • Update failed:  Unable to extract the download files (why????), error U44M1210.  What's that ?

When downloading Premiere Pro CC, in Creative Cloud, I'm getting a message:
    Update Failed
Unable to extract  the downloaded files.  Press retry.
    (U44M1210)
Sometimes it happens when I'm updating extensions.
Can I directly download and update apps WITHOUT using the Creative Cloud desktop app ?
    Please advice.

I had the same problem on a Mac (CC update failing with a U44M1210 error.
. I just finished a chat with an Adobe specialist who walked me through the solution. So I recommend a chat to solve the problem for me (and I suspect all Mac users).
The Solution essentially this came down to the following:
    Deleting the following:
OOBE and AAM Updater folders from ~/library/Application Support/Adobe
OOBE and Adobe Application Manager folders from /Library/Application Support/Adobe
    Reinstalling the Adobe Application Manager.
    Restarting the Creative cloud Application.
