Installation failing at Start Instance step
Hi All,
I am installing Solution Manger 4.0 with Ms SQL server on win 2003 server. Intsallation is failed at 24the step"Start Instance". I observed that, at this step it started the DVEBMGS01 instance and stopped and then restarted the instance. At this point dispatcher of that instance is stopped and the step failed.
Can anybody help me solve it.

I had this exact problem with installation of Netweaver 04s SR3.
In some log I found a message saying that the page file was not big enough to perform some operation.
After checking the windows page file I found out it was only 2GB, extended it to 8 GB max, then rebooted and retried the installation at the point where it left and everything worked fine afterwards.
Check your paging file and give it plenty of space.

I have confirmed the environment is correctly set by comparing with the current workable DI include replaced the kernel from workable DI.
Also redo the steps for oracle client based on SAPNOTE 819829.
It's looks like oracle client issue. But, i can't find out what is the issue.

ECC6 Installation error when start instance step

I'm doing to install IDES ECC6 SR3 on window x64 with oracle database.
I have some error in start instance step as error log below.

MCOD installation fails during Database instance phase "CREATE TABLESPACES
We are installing solution manager 3.2 using MCOD option on windows 2003/oracle. Installation fails during Database instance phase "CREATE TABLESPACES" step without any error. Interesting thing is no error message in installation log or oracle alert log.
Installation Details
First instance: SMD / Instance number: 00 / schema: sapsmd / Database SID: SMD
Second instance; SMQ / Instance number: 01 / schema: sapsmq / Database SID: SMD
Did any one come across this issue? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Did u checked for the Space utilization on the drives.Normally when installation fails there will be some intimation of the cause in the log files written in the sapinst directory.IF it is failing in the tablespace creation phase the that means that the data files cannot be created.
It depends on the database you use: Data files(Oracle), Containers (DB2).
Do check in the sapdata directories whethere the data file have created.
If its not giving you any error then the installation might got stuck bcoz of some memory problems during the "create tablespace phase"

You cannot change the owner of the job once it is in released status.
Better, create the job with same varient by an existing user and delete the cancelled job.

Errors while installation "Failed to start Directory server instance"

i was trying to install sun DS 6.3 in my system,everything is going good but while creating directory instance i get errors saying Unxpected error
"FAILED TO START DIRECTORY SERVER INSTANCE"
C:/DSEE/VAR/DSCC6/DCC/ADS
before that i start up dsccsetup/initialize
it asks for directory manager password:nnnn
reenter directory manager password:nnnn
after that i get the above errors
at the end it says
"Software installation is corrupted or incomplete"

IMO, there is no compelling reason to try to install Enterprise Linux using dual boot or relying on 3rd party driver software. -

During the install I did get error messages for libclntsh.so and libclntsh.a when doing the enterprise install...but I continue with it and and duirngthe configuration stage it failed at creating instance throwing the above error.

Prasad ShindeYour problem sounds somewhat like mine, although not exactly. In my case it seems as if my CD/DVD drive didn't like the hologram on my Windows XP install CD. I solved this by using Disk Utility to make a disk image of the Windows DVD and then burning the disk image onto a new DVD with an opaque "label". That solved that problem.
A further problem occurred after that. When I got to the screen that told me to hit "Enter" to start the installation process my keyboard was unresponsive. I solved this by buying a cheap Windows keyboard. That solved that problem and I now have Windows XP running just fine.
I think that you'll find that Apple tech support isn't very responsive to these sort of problems. I don't have Apple Care but was willing to pay my $49 for tech support. I ended up talking to a "Boot Camp specialist". He was polite but told me that it was "a windows problem" and that Apple didn't support Windows. I agree that Apple can't support windows but it seemed like my two problems were "Mac problems". Anyway, after tearing my hair out for 4 days I finally got it done. I have to admit that I'm not happy with apple tech support. -

Informatica 9.1.0 Hotfix2 installation failing at Domain creation step..
Hi,
I am trying to install Informatica 9.1.0 with Hotfix 2 on Windows Server 2008 R2 64bit Enterprise Edition.
I created a new VIrtual Machine in VM Ware with the above OS and trying to install in it following the steps from below link.

I am getting Error during Keystore creation at Domain configuration step.
Domain Configuration.
Step :1
Choose “Create a Domain” radio button.
Check “Enable HTTPS for Informatica Administrator”
Leave the Port number as it is and choose “Use a keystore file generated by the installer”
Click Next.
Here is the error from log.

I am not seeing any java folder which i used for Informatica installation(C:\Informatica\9.1.0) but in above log command i am seeing that it is using "C:\Informatica\9.1.0\java\jre\bin\keytool " for generating Keystore.
Earlier once i installed in same OS but on another machine. This time i am not sure where i am wrong.
Could you please help me out here.
FYI.. i just installed new OS and on top of it i am trying to install informatica. Is thr any thing need to take care specially..?

JES4 installation fails to start
I am getting this error, although diskspace is ok... check df -hk at the end.
The installer was working before! a few days ago.. nothing changes on the system.. we only restarted it and everything else is till working fine.

It can mean a lot of things, looking at what the customer provided though:

swap 631M 554M 77M 88% /tmp
That shows they only have something like 144MB of swap left, which isn't much at all. So the system most likely ran out of virtual memory/swap space (there would have been even less when the installer uses some for its own temp files) - rebooting the system resulted in the contents of /var/run and /tmp being removed, and would have freed up the space.

Thanks,I had similar issue in windows 7 [64 bit].
It is found that the nodemanger windows service was not present and I had to create it by executing installNodeMgrSvc.cmd present in wls server location say, 'C:\Oracle\Middleware\wlserver_10.3\server\bin' in my case and then come to bi wls console and 'Resume' the bi_server1 managed server. You would see progress in the installer once the managed server bi_server1 is 'Running' state.

Turnkey Installation fails to start JBoss service
I'm installing the Turnkey LiveCycle on a PC running Windows Vista.
The LiveCycle Configuration Manager fails with the error:
Service startup failed for: JBoss for Adobe LiveCycle ES
If I try and manually start the service from Windows, I get this:
"The JBoss for Adobe LiveCycle ES service started than stopped."
Running JBossService.exe from the command prompt does nothing - it just returns to the prompt with no error message.
However, if I go the bin directory and execute 'run.bat', the server starts fine - I can access the configuration pages from my web browser on localhost:8080
It seems to be a problem with the wrapper that makes it into a Windows service.
Any ideas of how I can get fix this?

I found it was a 64bit Windows issue. The 'JBossService.exe' which is really a copy of 'JavaService' needs to be replaced with a version compiled for 64 bit Windows.
I used the file from "JavaService-2.0.7.64.zip".

I am installing Audit vault agent 10.3 and it is failing at the last on solarisis 10 sparc 64 bit .
The error is
OUI-25031:Some of the configuration assistants failed/cancelled. It is strongly recommended that you retry the configuration assistants at this time. Not successfully running any "Recommended" assistants means your system will not be correctly configured.
I have tried the Doc ID 1058184.1 but it fails at the end saying cannot update av.properties , If we create the the directories manually and create the av.properties file then the agent will start but it is not stopping until you kill the agent .
Moreover if i am continuing with this agent after registering the collectors i am not able to start them as i am facing the http 404 error .
So i think i need to install the audit agent successfully first .
can anybody help me please as we are on client side and it is critical deliverable .

I hit this problem when the OS user I was installing with was not in the proper OS group. I don't have the documentation in front of me right now, but make sure your user is in the DBA and/or OINSTALL group.
