Installation fails looking for

I'm trying to install 10g. I keep getting an error part way through. The installation program seems to be looking for the file change_on_install.DMP, which is not where the log file says it ought to be. I've tried ignoring the error, but the installation seems to hang up with the message legend "Clone database creation in progress" at 46%. I've tried the enterprise and personal versions on the off chance that size matters. I've searched through the intallation files for "change_on_install.DMP." Nada. Here are what I think are the relevant log entries:
ERROR at line 1:
ORA-19624: operation failed, retry possible
ORA-19870: error reading backup piece C:\ORACLE\DATABASE\CHANGE_ON_INSTALL
ORA-19505: failed to identify file "C:\ORACLE\DATABASE\CHANGE_ON_INSTALL"

Any help is much appreciated.
Thanks,

That file doesn't even exist. That seems to be the main problem.
Thanks,

  • Rebuilding Standby - fails looking for current ORL

    Environment:
    Oracle 11.2.0.3 EE on Solaris
    I am trying to rebuild a physical standby database on the standby server.
    I have copied all RMAN files from the most recent Level 0 and Level 1 backups as well as all archived logs.
    I have created and copied a new standby control file and located the copies in the documented places based on my pfile and spfile.
    I have left the parameter 'standby_file_management' equal to 'auto'.
    I have created an RMAN parameter file that looks like this:
    startup nomount
    sql 'alter database mount standby database';
    run{
           allocate channel c1 type disk;
           allocate channel c2 type disk;
           allocate channel c3 type disk;
           allocate channel c4 type disk;
           allocate channel c5 type disk;
           restore database;
    recover database;
    When I run this it restores pretty much everything, but fails looking for what turns out to be the 'CURRENT' online redo log file from the Production database.
    I verified this by running:
    select * from v$log;
    Why would the recovery process be looking for the currently active redo log file from the Production database?
    What do I need to do to make it recover the data I've given it and then let me turn on MRP to pick up anything outstanding?
    Any help is greatly appreciated!!
    -gary

    Thanks for the quick response!!
    Since I have run the 'recover database' command and it has been successful up to the point where it's looking for the latest OLR, can I just start the MRP on the standby as it exists right now?
    I'm not sure what the status of my standby is at this moment.
    When I re-run the above script and look at the log file, I always see several lines of other data files it's recovering.
    Have those been recovered successfully and it's just waiting on me to cancel the recovery?
    Thanks again for your help!!!

  • Installation of Blackberry Desktop Software fails: looking for Blackberry 8310.msi file

    I cannot successfully install and use any version of the Blackberry Desktop software.  The problem started when I tried to install the desktop software on my new computer from a file I downloaded and stored on an external hard drive that had been attached to my old computer.  The install/uninstall programs lists Blackberry desktop 4.2.2.  It appeared to install correctly, but when I try to use it,  I get a message saying the program is trying to use a network resource that is not available, and looks in a temp directory for this "Blackberry 8310.msi" file.  There is also a program listed as "Blackberry v4.2.2 for the 8310 series wireless handheld"  When I try to uninstall it, it looks for that same .msi file.
    I'd like to be able to sync my calendar with my phone.
    Does anyone know what I should do?  I followed the clean uninstall directions, and that didn't make a difference.
    Thanks.

    Xandrex, I am having the same problem (along with a few others).  I hate to sound like a novice, but how do I decompress into a folder other than temp?  Whether installing from the website, or saving to my desktop and then installing, it unzips without giving me a choice of where to put the files.
    Hello,
    I don't have the install at home so my answer will be approximate. when you get the .exe file, it is in fact a zip file with a small launcher that knows it has to unzip the stuff in your temp file.
    What you need is a decompression tool to decompress without that launcher. You can install 7Zip that is quite good for those things.
    You can also try WinZIP or winRAR or winACE but those are not free-of-charge.
     http://www.7-zip.org/
    Once you have installed this tool, just open 7Zip and browse to the .exe file. click on it, there should be a button "Extract". Choose a folder (somewhere on your Desktop for example) and wait for the decompression to finish.

  • Update failed looking for Status.msi

    I recently downloaded and attempted to install an update to improve USB connectivity for my C6280 All-In-One printer.  The update failed because something called Status.msi could not be located.
    Now, everytime I start my computer an Windows installation box pops-up still looking for Status.msi.  I have to cancel it 15-20 times before it fianally stops popping up.
    I tried to get help fron the HP on-line chat techs but the one I got was absolutely worthless.  It was obvious he never understood what the problem was.
    I am not overly endowed with in-depth computer knowledge so any sugggestions need to be on as simple a level as possible.
    I am using a Dell Dimension C521 with Vista Home Premium.  My printer is a Photosmart C6280 All-in-one.
    At this point I would be happy to just get the installation box to quit popping up.
    Thanks in advance.

    Insert the installation cd for your printer. Now in the CD contents, open the location setup\status, now right click on Status.msi and click on repair. It may ask you to restart the PC.
     If this doesn't work, then when you get the "installation box", then click on the Browse button and locate the status.msi file on the CD in the same location, and the box shouldnt reappear.

    I am trying to install setup for adobe photoshop getting the error which is mentioned above I have windows visa as operating system

    You will want to review your PDApp.log file to discover what is causing your difficulties.  The following steps can be utilized to allow you to discover your error message:
    1.  Navigate to the PDapp.log file in one of the following folders:
    Note: The following folders are hidden by default. If necessary, use Folder Options (Windows) or Terminal (Mac OS) to show hidden files.
    • Windows Vista and Windows 7: \Users\[username]\AppData\Local\Temp
    2.  Open PDapp.log in a text editor such as WordPad (Windows)
    PDapp.log records installation attempts sequentially. Each line in the log starts with a date and time stamp, which indicates when the installation was attempted. Each attempt starts with a Build Version number.
    3.  Analyze only the most recent attempt. If you can’t determine which build attempt is the most recent, delete PDapp.log and run the installer again.
    In the most recent installation attempt, look for lines identified by [ERROR] or [FATAL]. For example:
    5/1/2010 13:49:48.847 [ERROR] DWA.SystemRequirement SystemRequirements check FAILED for payload - Adobe Media Encoder CS5 PCI WRAPPER
    5/1/2010 13:49:20 [FATAL] PIM - Error could not create PIM Common Folder Path... F:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe\OOBE\PDApp\
    4. Search the Adobe knowledgebase for a TechNote that provides a solution to each error message. Omit paths and machine-specific information from search strings. For the preceding errors, for example, you would search on “DWA.SystemRequirement SystemRequirements check FAILED for payload” and “PIM - Error could not create PIM Common Folder Path.”

    Please feel free to respond to this thread if you have any questions about the steps to perform.

    Hello Vineet,
    I did a complete uninstall (including the CS5 Clean Tool) and reinstalled MC CS5.  I ran the updater and everything seems to have updated properly.  Thanks for your help.  I was holding off on the reinstall because of the time involved with reconfiguring the apps, reinstalling plugins, etc.
    Looking at the installer log, there appears to be some permissions related entries that were not present in logs of the failed installs.  Here is the relevant section of the log.

    I did run a permissions repair using the Disk Utility before downloading and installing the updates. I don't know if that helps, but I thought I'd include it.
    Thank you,
