Installation from 10.6.8 - unable to select HD to install Yosemite

Hi all,
I have an old MacBook6,1 of 2009 (the white one), with a 2.26GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor, 2GB 1067 MHz DDR3 memory, 250GB of storage capability (100GB free), currently running Snow Leopard 10.6.8.
I'm trying to upgrade to Yosemite 10.10 (my hardware and software are both ok to do the upgrade, I checked it). The download from the appstore went ok, but when I launch the installation app and I am asked to select the volume in which I want to install the OS, I'm not able to select my "Macintosh HD" unity (the icon is light grey), and if I try to click on it anyway, a message appears: "Impossible to use this volume to start the computer" (actually my mac is in italian so I reported the translation of the original message: "Impossibile utilizzare questo disco per avviare il computer").
I found out that some people had the same problem with the installation of Lion (OS X Lion: il programma di installazione indica "Impossibile utilizzare questo disco per avviare il computer" - Supporto…), but all the proposed solutions rely on the possibility of accessing "recovery mode", a functionality that is not enabled in snow leopard 10.6.8. And the only solution that doesn't rely on this feature (you can find it at the same link reported above), requests a redimensioning of the partition assigned to "Macintosh HD", that in my case is the only one that I have (I don't have any bootcamp partition), and even if l do it, it doesn't work.
Can anybody help me?

Apart from your issue to start the downloaded installer, you must know that 2GB of Ram is the absolute bare minimum to run Yosemite.
You have to add Ram. You can have 8GB as a maximum.
I propose to install 2x4GB and the price is low, macs are very sensitive of the right type of ram and need a good brand. Usually Crucial or OWC is recommended here. It is not difficult to do it yourself, see the sites for instructions:

Is there a special reason to go for Yosemite (it is VERY different from SnowLeopard) ?

UNABLE TO SELECT DRIVE TO INSTALL

This issue has never happened on my previous installation of Adobe Reader, after downloading via the download manager, the installation process is detecting my F:\ to install, which is my external HDD and i have removed it from the USB port and tried again, it is still installing on F:\.
Then it shows "Error 1327 .Invalid Drive: F:\", which I don't have it connected, netiher do I wish to install it onto that drive.
Is there any other way of selecting to which drive I can install onto?

I had a similar problem: when installing Adobe reader via the doenload manager
I received an error message Invalid Drive F: (and nothing more)
My F: drive is a network drive mapped to a synology NAS.
After fooling around some time I discovered a map on my PC (C:\Users\Public\Desktop\Adobe 9 Reader-installatieprogramma) in which a setup.exe. Running this setup reveiled a somewhat more detailed error message: the error on the f: drive occurred when the setup program was trying to estimate free space.
In this map I also found a file AcroRead.msi. running this installer file installed the reader on my system.

Unable to update iPhoto after installing yosemite on iMac

recently installed yosemite OS, but cannot open iPhoto without update and cannot find update.

Its been like this for 2 hours...
It may be hanging, because you are running out of storage - do you have at least 10GB of fee disk space?
Or something is interfering with your connection to the App Store - anti virus software, a firewall. If you have any such software running, restart yor mac in Safe Mode and try reinstalling in this mode: Mac OS X: Starting up in Safe Mode
If that does not help either, ask in the App Store forum.

Unable to select IS from the drop down list in message mapping

i know that we can monitor 'Integration server' in message monitoring rather than choosing integration engine or adapter engine.
But in our existing land scapes i am unable to select IS from the drop down list in message mapping.
using PI 7.1 SP 08.
please let me know that we need to set up additional configurations settings to select IS form drop down list.

There are no extra settings that needs to be done for this. I don't know whether you have noticed this, but IS option will only come up when you want to monitor the messages from the "Database" and not from the "Database overview" or "Archive".

Unable to Select from List of Processes

Hi all.
I'm having an issue where I am unable to mouse click (or select) from a list of processes. This is happening in three different areas. When I click Start Processes, I am able to select an employee (even from HR Admin I can enter an employee) without any problems. Then after choosing my employee, I click the button 'Select Process' and I get a list of P&Fs processes. However, the top process is pre-selected and I am unable to select any other process. Even though the list of processes are different for HR Admin and manager, I still can only proceed to the Adobe form with the first (top) process. If I click edit to continue to the adobe form it opens the top selected form without an issues.
This also happens from the "Find Processes" overview screen. After entering my select criteria of processes to search, I get a list of process transactions which have been started but again, I am only able to see the details of the first one (and I cannot select any other process).
I am running Ehp 3 with the latest patches to BPs and ECC 6.0 (as of 1/3/2010). I've also tried using different browsers including IE 8 and Google Chrome.

Hi Chris.
Not sure what to look for when you reference 'controls'. As far as the business packages, they are up to date. I've eliminated the issue being ECC 6 related. Just not sure what to check on the portal side that could be causing this. Any suggestions on how to check (and update if necessary) the controls?

Unable to Upload data from text file into BEx Analyzer selection screen

No response from BEx Analyzer when I am trying to upload around 40,000 material from text file into BEx Analyzer selection screen using "Upload selections" options. But I am able to upload only 10,000 material from text file. I never faced same kind of issue when I am using BEx Analyzer 3.x. Please let me know I have to change any settings related to BEx or any other.

Unable to select the value from a list item in forms 6i

Hi ,
I'am using forms 6i. I have created a list item in my form as below.
Item_type = list item
list style - popup list
elements in list - A, B, C,D
When I open the form all the above values are displayed for the list item. But I'am unable to select the item( either A,B,C,D).
Please let me know if I need to add any thing else programatically to acheive this. The block on whixh these values are diplayed is a datablock.
This is very urgent. Any suggestions would be of great help.

If you have a list item where you have:
Display A value 1
Display B value 2
Display C value 3
Display D value 4
If want to initial the value of the item to be A, you can set the initial value of the item to 1 in the property pane.
Otherwise in an initialisation triger have
:block.list_item := 1;

Unable to select individual frames from entire mov file in iMovie

I am trying to edit one long clip in iMovie from an iPhoto .mov file downloaded from a FlipCam. When I select the project from the library in iMovie, I cannot isolate frames to trim. The entire clip is repeatedly highlighted no matter what I do. I use a macbook pro. I have tried importing the file from both iPhoto and from a copy downloaded directly from the FlipCam to my desktop. I've tried some keyboard shortcuts but nothing seems to work. All frames in the file are highlighted. What am I doing wrong? I need to split this one long clip into several shorter ones for our company website and also trim some unwanted frames out.

FrameGrabbingControl allows you to grab a frame. but you cant directly write from that frame. Do i have to create a dataSink.
Actually i tried to do one thing that is, I used the cut program. But from that i can not repeatedly take out frame as media data.

I am unable to select the operation mapping in the Enhanced Receiver determination in PI 7.1. Looks like a bug in PI 7.1. Did anybody else faced the same problem and got any resolution.

You will notice the same behavior when you try to select the Operation Mapping in Extended RD....click on the input help....pop-window will appear....what are the source and target SI that you see?

Unable to select the created Ports(greyed out) in the import manager

We have created some ports with specific Remote system and XML schema's and also assigned the map to it.
The processing type is manual for now,since we want to load data manually using import manager from the Ready folder of the port since PI is dropping the files there.But when I load import manager and select the file type as "Port" and also the relevant remote system ,I cannot select any of the list of ports created ,All are greyed out.
All I need is to select "Port" option ,remote system and use the created port from the dropdown list of import manager " connect to source" step,which i am unable to select as all the port s are greyed out and unable to select.
Any help greatly appreciated...

Hello Arvind,
There is no need to start the MDIS (Import server) if you are importing the data manually.you just open the import manager, login into the repository and select type as XML as per your case and select the remote system (it depends on your requirement) and select the port on which your xml files resides.and enter in the import manager then map you data accordingly and you can import into the repository.
when you want to automate the process for importing the data in repository then you will need to Start the import Server. In that case import server automatically pick the file from the ready port folder and also set the property in console as the processing type is Automatic.

Unable to select Edit in Adobe PDF Portfolio?

I'm using Adobe XI with flash player 11.7.700.202, which I believe is the current version, and I'm unable to select the 'Edit' button as it appears that it's been disabled. Please direct me to a solution.
Note: it worked just fine in Adobe Pro 9.

The portfolios are created through Outlook (sync'd from Gmail for multiple printing) using Adobe XI Pro so your comment above answers part of this question.
We had created portfolios using Lotus Notes and Adobe Pro 9; I was able edit the 'Description' when I had to print specific emails and I was even able to change how the emails were displayed (layout).
Can you tell me if there will be a fix/update for this?
