Installation got stuck

Trying to set up PowerMac G4 MDD 867DP with Leopard. Installed Leopard from disc and am trying to use Migration Assistant to migrate from an iBook G4 running Tiger. All seemed to go OK, but right now I am on the screen where it says "Select a Wireless Service". It does not see my wireless service and after typing in the name numerous times, I clicked on "Different Network Setup" and tried again. It still does not see my network, and now the "Different Network Setup" window is no longer available.
The iBook is still connected in FW Target Disk Mode.
What do I do now? How do I get out of this window and finish the installation?
Thanks in advance!

Forgive my stupidity, but how do I go back? Do I unplug the iBook? Turn it off? Turn off the PowerMac?
Migration Assistant seems to have worked and it looked like it was just finishing up when I had to leave to go to the post office. When I returned, the MDD was on the "Select a Wireless Service" page instead of on the Migration Assistant page. I assume the Migration Assistant did finish, but I wasn't there to see it do so.
I don't mind starting over if that is what I have to do. But I don't know how to safely shut everything down. I would love to go back to almost anything, but I don't know how to get off of this page.
Thanks for the response!

  • After downloading Yosemite Installation got stuck as the disk needs repair but is not available.

Now I can't access my Time machine and it has not backed up since 3 months. I am stuck as i don't know how to get back to my old OS and basically ignore the Yosemite download until I figure out what is wrong with my SSD. I successfully replaced the HDD several months ago with a Crucial 240GB SSD and had no issues at all while working on it. However, now I seem to be completely stuck: can't get back to 10.9, can't back up to my Time Machine, can't even erase the disk and lose 3 months of data because of some disc mounting issue. What a mess I have created. Please help.

    Ok everyone,
I may have a solution. I too installed Yosemite only to be stuck with nowhere to go because I couldn't repair my disk in the Disk Utility. I would verify over and over and sometimes I could click repair and sometimes it was grayed out. I would get red messages saying you can't unmout the disk, you can't repair it, etc. So, I read on another forum some chick used her CD of snow leopard and reinstalled that OS versus trying to install Mavericks again (which I tried too, but the disk was locked because it wasn't repaired). So I popped in the CD, restarted my computer and pulled up disk utility again. The first time I ran the repair function I actually got a kernel message (which is bad) and had to restart again. The second time, however, I ran the repair and it fixed it! I got a nice green message saying the disk had no issues appeared to be ok. So, I went to reinstall snow leopard and my Macintosh disk was no longer locked because it was repaired! I just installed it and I'm waiting for my computer to reboot so cross your fingers that this works.
I feel like this is good news because it makes me think that I don't actually have a hard drive issue but rather Yosemite was corrupted. I take very good care of my iMac so it would be heartbreaking if I had to put money into it when I've never had issues with my apple products In the past. Hope this helps anyone in the struggle. I'm not smart enough to hook up external hard drives and run programs or type code into the terminal. So consider this the simple man's resolution (I'm a woman). Feel free to ask me any questions, I'll check back when I can.

  • Photoshop CS3 crashing and installation getting 'stuck'

Last week Photoshop CS3 started crashing when trying to select a new file to open.
This didn't seem related to any particulr file and appeared to be random.
Error message was "an unrecoverable problem has occurred, Photoshop will now quit"
Actully it didn't quit and had to be force quit.
This was happenning sporadically, but today it happened every time I tried to open any image file.
Thinking it was a good idea to re-install, I tried that but the installation got 'stuck' and couldn't be completed.
A few minutes into the installation, prompts appeared asking for the CS4 Flash disk [which we bought seperately]
and then asked for the CS3 Application disk again. That disk was put in the drive and a minute or so later it asks for the CS3 Application disk.
Which is the disk it already has...
Has anyone else had this odd situation and found a solution?
    Any thoughts appreciated!

Try resetting your preferences as described in the FAQ.
    http://forums.adobe.com/thread/375776?tstart=0
You either have to physically delete (or rename) the preference files or, if using the Alt, Ctrl, and Shift method, be sure that you get a confirmation dialog.
This resets all settings in Photoshop to factory defaults.
A complete uninstall/re-install will not affect the preferences and a corrupt file there may be causing the problem.

  • Illustrator cs5.1 installation gets stuck at 81%

I have Windows 7 64bit and had to reset my system. After resetting, when I tried to install the complete Creative Suite 5.5, the installer got stuck.
yet I could install single programmes, like just Indesign or Photoshop.
However, Illustrator CS5.1 would not be installed. It got stuck at 81%.
In the protocoll, I found error messages of this type:

  • Installation Flash Pro CS6, Windows 7 64 bit PC installation gets stuck

New download of Flash Pro CS6, first attempted to install on a PC running Windows 7 64 bit. The installation got stuck and unresponsive at the "Installing AdobeHelp" stage (approx 30% into the install.
I then tried the install on a PC running Windows XP 32 bit and exactly the same thing happened.
I am unable to proceed further - anyone got any advice?

OK, my response above was for the Windows 7 64 bit installation.
The advice to close the Adobe Help process was valid for the Windows XP 32 bit installation & installation is now complete.
I'll try a compatability install on the Windows 7 PC & see what happens.

  • Got stuck with the installation

I'm downloading trial version of Photoshop using the Creative Cloud application, but i got stuck at 47%.
I don't have any internet problems and my PC owns all prerequisites.
Does it happen to someone else or only me?

I'm using the Creative Cloud application.exe that i've already downloaded, so i'm not using a broswer for installing Photoshop
I've hard disk space, i'm not having any issue about permissions or priviliges. I'm using Win 7 64-bit
Anyway i tried to cancel the installation and then i started it again. After aproximately 1h30 i got stuck again at 47%.
    (i'm using Italian version)
PS: I have no internet problems.

  • Help =( Mac got stuck on gray screen

    Hi
Update went ok a couple of days ago.
Tonight it suddently got "stuck" and after rebooting it, it is now stuck on a gray screen.
Impossible to reboot from the installation disk or from my Lacie disk or from the HD.
When attempting to reboot from the Leopard installation disk, I then get a message telling me that the Mac needs to be restarted, but when I restart, I get stuck again on the gray screen with the Apple logo in the middle.
I am at a loss as to what to do.
Help, please!!! I am now on a friend's computer to access help. So a quick response from someone would be fantastic.
    Anyone?

    update on current situation:
i took my macbook to be repaired first thing this morning.
it is apparently a small part that is damaged and therefore preventing the macbook to reboot.
hence why the hardware test indicated that it found no problems and that when attempting to reboot from a disk or a drive, it finds them, but cannot reboot from either.
the part should be here tomorrow afternoon and i should get my macbook back either tomorrow or thursday.
apparently, it is nothing serious and no loss of data should occurr.
but they will only know this for sure once the part has been replaced and they can actually reboot it. they say this is not linked with the leopard update.
just sheer bad luck from a defective part.

    Hi,
According to your description, it seems that your all Windows 8.1 computers connect to network via normal wireless network.
Did you have wireless router for them?
Please delete this adhoc, then check if these computer could connect to network.
If no, follow below guide to create and connect to adhoc :

  • Really slow install and 10.5.1 got stuck on "Writing package receipts"

I installed a fresh install on my ibook G4 way back but forgot to ask about this issue I had with installing. The install was incredibly slow and when I took a peek at the installation log, I noticed these sort of entries there:
    Oct 26 07:50:44 ibookg4 root[2248]: Begin script: aclmodify.pl
    Oct 26 07:50:44 ibookg4 /Volumes/OS X/private/tmp/scripts.61Db/./postinstall[2232]: No receipt for 'com.apple.pkg.OSInstall' found at '/Volumes/OS X'.
    Oct 26 07:50:44 ibookg4 /Volumes/OS X/private/tmp/scripts.61Db/./postinstall[2232]: No receipt for 'com.apple.pkg.OSInstall' found at '/Volumes/OS X'.
    Oct 26 07:50:45 ibookg4 /Volumes/OS X/private/tmp/scripts.61Db/./postinstall[2232]: No receipt for 'com.apple.pkg.OSInstall' found at '/Volumes/OS X'.
    Oct 26 07:50:45 ibookg4 /Volumes/OS X/private/tmp/scripts.61Db/./postinstall[2232]: /Volumes/OS X/System/Library/User Template/Dutch.lproj
Now that I started to upgrade my system to 10.5.1 the system rebooted and started the install and got stuck at "Writing package receipt" and I left it running over night and in the morning I had had enough of waiting and just pushed the power button until the system turned off. I then turned it back on and it rebooted a couple of times and after that I got my system to a login screen and after login I checked what "About this Mac" said on my system and it claimed it to be OS X 10.5.1.
I whonder if it went through okay or not?
Could this problem have something to do with what happened during 10.5 installation?

I updated my wife's G4 iBook to 10.5 and 10.5.1 without incident. That said, I have ad other incidents where an install appeared to hang but worked fine after that.
My guess is that if your system is working normally and the About This Mac shows 10.5.1, then the upgrade was OK. Did you do the smaller (39MB) install from Software Update? If so, it is recommended that you download the full 110MB Update from the Apple site and reapply it to your machine.
You stated originally that you did a "fresh" install of Leopard. If you haven't done much else and have no data on your machine, it might be worth the effort to reformat the iBook drive and do another fresh install just to be sure there is nothing lurking in the background.
The install should only take about 2 -2.5 hours to do.
    Hope this helps.

  • My I-Pad Mini initiated an Update, got stuck and now I can't Stop, Reset or Delete either the App, or Update. I'm also unable to Update anything else!!! Please HELP!!!

My I-Pad Mini initiated an Update, got stuck and now I can't Stop, Reset or Delete either the App or Update. I'm also unable to Update anything else!! Please HELP?

Now, I find myself unable to update my version of Itunes. it asks me if I wish to update the version, I say yes, and then nothing happens.
With that one, I'd try updating using an iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64Setup.exe) installer file, downloaded from the Apple Website:

DS 5.2 P6 is running on this machine on a different path. But same installation got completed on another box successfully.
I dont see any log messages for DS6.3 installation under /var/sadm/install/logs directory.
    Thanks in advance!.

    Hi,
Looks like dsee_deploy hangs during JESmf registration. For this registration dsee_deploy launch the following command v"dsccsetup mfwk-reg -t".
You can try to run the command manually and check if it works or not.
Log of cacao ( <install_path>/dsee6/cacao_2/var/cacao/instances/default/logs/ ) can also help to see if JESmf module has been registered correctly or not.
    Hope this helps
