Installation guide Oracle cloud Control Agents on a Windows failover cluste

Hello Experts,
i have to install Oracle cloud control agent on windows fail-over cluster. i could not found any document on oracle support site/ internet.
here are the requirement:
i have two hosts (host1 and host2) which are in windows cluster environment (active/passive). means, one node will hold the cluster service/resource at a time.
if primary node (host1) is down, Microsoft cluster ware will fail-over cluster resource to host2 automatically.
any one deployed 12c Agents on windows fail-over clustered environment. if yes, please provide hints / procedure.
Thanks
pavan

Hi Pavan,
Please find the following document:
How to Configure Grid Control Agents in Windows HA - Failover Cluster Environments (Doc ID 464191.1)
For 12C Agent install, you can proceed with the silent install passing a virtual hostname in silent method also using the following document:
How to Install EM 12c Agent using Silent Install Method with Response File (Doc ID 1360083.1)

Can anyone get to this note "1390717.1: 12c Cloud Control Agent: Is it possible to Re-configure a 12c Agent to a Different 12c OMS Without Re-installation?"
I do a search in Metalink and I see it listed in "How to Point a 10g/11g Grid Agent to a Different Grid Control OMS and Repository without Re-installation? [ID 413228.1]" but that is the only doc a search returns.
I have a test environment with agents pointed to an old OMS 12c. I'd like to utilize the same agents but point them to our new, production, OEM 12c environment. Has anyone had any success with this? I've followed the 10g/11g OEM steps without luck, thus far (early testing).
I was excited to see "emctl switchOMS REPOSITORY_URL" in the emctl options until I read the next line...
This command is not supported.

• 12c Cloud Control - Agent Unreachable

Hello,
I am quite new to 12c cloud control and I am unable to resolve an "Agent Unreachable" issue.
I could find Agent does not upload to OMS in OEM 12c as relevant
but nothing in that worked for me.
The setup is as follows:
1) 12c cloud control is installed on a box and is up and running (both OMS and agent)
2) The agent on the same host as OMS can talk to OMS and the agent status is shown as "available" in OMS console
3) There is another box that has a 11.2 database installed as well as 12c agent installed (called as DEVBOX for convenience)
4) DEVBOX has database up and running and 12c agent also up and running. In the past, it was probably being able to "talk" to OMS but I can't remember
However, at present, on OMS console, this agent is shown as "unreachable". I tried few things but only possible issue I could find is
when I try to use Setup -> Add Target -> Add Targets Manually -> Add non-Host targets using guided process, on the "specify Host" page
when I click on "Select Host" option, the hostname in the agent URL for the DEVBOX is different than the actual host name.
As the agent URL for DEVBOX is not reachable (because the hostname is invalid), I can't do anything with this agent.
Can somebody please help?

To remove an agent from the console:
- Go to the homepage of the host where the agent reside
- From the Host menu under the host name, select Related Targets
- Remove all non-agent targets
- Remove the host target by selecting Host > Target Setup > Remove Target
- Stop the agent
- Remove the agent target by going to the agent homepage and selecting Agent > Target Setup > Remove TargetLoc,
Once again thanks for looking into this. I followed your advice above and removed the host and the agent from OMS console.
Now, with the 12c agent already running on the DEVBOX, I was hoping that OMS will automatically detect the agent but I
can't find it in OMS console.

• Oracle Cloud Control 12c and licensing

Hey Guys, Can someone please elucidate on the Cloud Control 12c licensing requirements?
Following are all the licenses we currently hold:
1. Oracle Enterprise Edition DB
2. Oracle RAC
3. Oracle Active Data Guard
4. Diagnostic and Tuning Pack
5. Partitioning Option
6. Advanced Security Option
7. GoldenGate
My understanding is that I could install and access Grid/Cloud control as long as I have the Diagnostic and Tuning Pack - and of course to all products we are licensed for.
Questions:
1. Do I need any license for Weblogic server?
2. Can I setup OMS in a clustered architecture?
3. Can I have the RAC database for the repository?
4. Can I access the High Availability options - DG etc?
5. Can I administer RAC and GI services from Cloud Control?
I would've thought that as long as I have access to the underlying DB options, Grid/Cloud control can be used to administer over them.
Could someone please help in clearing this up?
Regards
Sridhar

I highly recommend you to read the Enterprise Manager Licensing Information:
http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E24628_01/doc.121/e24474/toc.htm
Quick answers for your questions:
1) No, as long as you use it only for EM
2) Yes you can.
3) You need to buy licenses for RAC option (for both nodes) and DB licenses for second node.
4) You mean accessing DG pages on EM pages right? Yes you can. They do not need any license pack. Btw you can check if a page requires additional licensing using "setup > management packs > packs for the page" menu.
5) Yes you can.
But as I said, it's better to read the licencing document by yourself, and contact Oracle sales for more information.

• 12c Cloud Control installtion issue (on Windows 7-64 bit)

Hello,
I am trying to install 12c Cloud Control on my personal computer Windows 7 (64-bit) OS for practice purpose. The database setup has been fine and the creation of pluggable database has been successful post which we need to install the cloud control setup. There is an issue at "Step 6 of 9" where we are required to provide the database Configuration Details. The details are: Database Host Name, Port, SID, SYS password. After providing these details it shows the following error:
"There was a problem connecting to the database on the host and port specified. Check to make sure the host is up or that the database listener is running on that host."
My understanding is:
Database Host Name: it is the fully qualified name of my computer, which in my case is "SRIDHAR-PC".
I ran the following script and it confirmed the same:
DBMS_OUTPUT.PUT_LINE()UTL_INADDR.GET_HOST_NAME
Port: the default port "1521" that I have provided and which I have not configured anywhere during installation. So it is the default one.
SID: The SID of the pluggable database being asked and. In this case it is "PLUGDB"
SYS password: The password of the sys account.
How do I resolve this error?

I am sorry for having asked this question outside the forum that I am supposed to for the issue. Progressing further on the issue, yes I have tried connecting them using the credentials and it succeeds connecting the database. On digging further I found that I have been installing the 12c Cloud Control setup on 12c database with pluggable-container database architecture, unfortunately which the 12c Cloud Control EM does not support to be installed on. To install the 12c EM Cloud Control we need to install it on either of the two databases:
1) A pre-12c instance, i.e. 11g database (OR)
2) 12c database installed as a regular installation (as we install the 11g DB) which is not installed as a container-pluggable database combination (This option needs to be selected at the time of database installation).
Oracle can support monitoring the databases which contain the container-pluggable database structure along with the single instance and RAC architecture, but to install the EM Cloud Control setup, it cannot be installed on DB's which consists container-pluggable structure.

• Configure Database Control web page in MSCS Failover Cluster

I have a two-node windows 2000 cluster that is managed with Microsoft Cluster Services and Oracle FailSafe Manager. The cluster works fine, so does connecting to the database with SQL; however, I have been unable to use the database control EM web page to access the database. The page appears with the Database/Instance/Listener titles but no data/information appears.
There is a virtual host name and IP address for the cluster which I can use successfully when accessing thru SQL. I've tried the system name and the virtual cluster name in the http://<SYSTEMNAME>:1521/em web address. I've tried both without the "em".
The emctl agent is running. The dbconsole service is running correctly.
Which name should I use in the web address - host system name or virtual (cluster) host name? What configuration parameters am I missing?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance!

Problem could be same but reason could be diffrent

I just want to Install the Oracle Intelligent Agent from the Oracle CD-ROM as per the Oracle Enterprise Manager Installation Guide. The Intelligent Agent is a separate component to select but it was not selected at the time of installation . Please suggest how i can install it now.

When prompted hit 'Custom install'. This allows you to select any component.

• Cloud control 12c and management agent 11.1

Hello everyone!
I have installed oracle cloud control 12c (12.1.0.2) on Win platform.
and it does not have an access to the internet yet.
I have database targets only on Linux hosts. In my case CC does not have approriate Agent software for linux hosts.
So the question is :
How can I configure cloud control with datbases hosts on linux ?
Can I use 11.1 agent software ?
Thanks.

1- For CC 12c you have to use 12c agents. Lower agent versions will not work.
2- A " how to" on downloading agent software and adding it to your OMS can be found here: http://www.gokhanatil.com/2012/03/how-to-download-new-agent-software-for-oracle-cloud-control-12c-in-offline-mode.html
Push the agent to *UX servers: http://www.gokhanatil.com/2011/10/how-to-deploy-oracle-management-agent.html
If you want to push the agent to the Linux servers you have to install CYGWIN on the (Windows) OMS server.

Recommendations Appreciated!

If I am understanding correctly, you are looking to discovery a RAC DB on a host on which you deployed an agent. The auto discovery configuration you mention is used to configure the frequency of automatic discovery on a given host after the initial deployment. Normally, you do not need to do anything in this screen.
Immediately after initial installation and successful registration, the agent will search the host automatically for database installations and report its findings to the OMS. These results can be seen in Setup->Add Target->Auto Discovery Results on the Non-Host targets tab. Here you can search by host and you should see a Cluster Database target. To get the target under management, select it and click Promote and follow the wizard.
You can also initiate a discovery of databases on a host by going to Setup->Add Target->Add Targets Manually. Select Add Non-Host targets using Guided process. Select target type in drop down of "oracle database, Listener and Automatic Storeage management". The click Add Using Guided Discovery. Here the agent will immediately scan the host and show the results which you can then complete the target addition process.
If I am misunderstanding you please let me know.

• Cloud Control 12c identifies unused Weblogic version on Managed Server

I'm using Cloud Control to monitor our domain. In this case I upgraded from WebLogic 10.3.1 to Weblogic 12.1.2.0.0 by installing 12c on a separate Oracle/Middleware/Oracle_Home and updateing the startup script to use this new WL_Home location.
The Weblogic 10.3.1 installation is still there.
When I connect through Cloud Control to discover the Middleware Targets (WebLogic) it identifies my server as being 10.3.1
I checked the path and classpath in the startup script and there are no references to the 10.3 path. How is the cloud control agent finding the inactive one ?
any help is appreciated

For the error messagee:
Shell path is incorrect or not defined.:/usr/local/bin/bash(SH_PATH),-c(SH_ARGS) on host XXX. Check the property values in the following files in this order, ssPaths_<plat>.properties or sPaths.properties or Paths.properties, in "/oracle/em12c/oms/oui/prov/resources" directory. For more details, refer to the Oracle Enterprise Manager Basic Installation Guide.
yes , you are suppose to change the shell patch as its at a different location.
The file where you have to chnage is: $<OMS_HOME>/oui/prov/resources/hpi.properties and change the variable: SH_PATH=
Try the agent deployment
On your another question: deploy manual agent , you have to get the em12c agent binaries usings elf update console. My /tmp has 1.5 GB of free space so that's really not the issue here. I know that the installation goes well if I use the Universal Installer that comes bundled with 10G RDBMS, but on machines with Oracle 8.1.7.4-9.2.0.5 I wouldn't like to update OUI's because of this issue. Anyone having this problem/solution?
Br,
Anssi

The issue is not about silent install or temp or root.
I have installed Agent on Linux without issues after I read closely the oracle requirements on linux.
Make sure you read oracle linux requirement, there is a patch you need to download that will create proper setting for oracle on linux.
Try look for Application Server 10g installation guide, this patch is documented for Application Server 10g on linux.
The patch will create oracle.sh file that linux will run each time user oracle is activated.
If you still get problem let me know through forum or direct.

• Cloud agent 12c on windows targets

Hello,
I've installed the Cloud agent 12c on a couple of windows targets using Add Hosts wizard. For each of them, I installed Cygwin on each target machine.
My question is: Is Cygwin required for cloud agent 12 installation on windows targets?
In other words, can't we "download" the install files and install it the old way? I'm trying to avoid installing cygwin since i have some old legacy servers to manage too. The less I have to install on these legacy machines the better.
I'm reading up on the emcli way of installing the cloud control agent as well. I know Add Hosts wizard and emcli are the recommended methods to deploy the agent.
Thx.

You will need cygwin if you want to control or deploy the agents from the OEM console itself. Its basically starting a ssh module which helps in remote transfer and remote command executions. You normally do not need cygwin once you installed or deployed  the agent except patching those agents. You can always stop the service after the deployment so it won't take any resources on your legacy systems.
The other method is here:
