i am working peoplesoft/oracle database administrator. i am planning to set up an environment in new machine. please let me know the following:
1) Should i install Oracle 10g client or server setup in the servers?
2) Which order of installation would be convenient (recommended) among database/application,batch server/webserver during setup?
3) Can we restore a database with hotbackup DB files without redo and archive log files?
4) Please provide me a simple doc for upgradation of Oracle 9i/10g to 11g

Here, we cannot provide the detailed process... you have to follow the installation guide for step by step process of installation. But, here's the overview for you...
1) Install Oracle DB server
2) Install Tuxedo
3) Install Weblogic
4) Install People Tools
5) Install Application on top of your tools
6) Create database either using delivered tools or manuallay (manual is the best way)
7) Try connectiong to database from App designer in 2-tier mode
8) Create Application server domain and try connection from Application designer in 3-tier mode
9) Create Web server domain and check if you are able to launch PIA and login successfully
10) Create Process scheduler domain and check if you are able to run processes from process scheduler
11) Configure report node and check if Process scheduler is able to post the files generated by the processes.
12) Then, if you have any other support softwares like crystal are required, go ahead and install them as well.....

Intel chipset drivers installation under Win2000 IMPOSSIBLE!!

Hello,
I want to use my Toshiba Satellite P10-792 with Windows 2000 Professional, but I have a big, big problem: It is impossible to install the Intel chipset drivers!
I've tried both the newest version and the "Toshiba download"(5.0) version of the intel drivers,but anything change: The installation utility doesn't recognize the chipset and/or the OS (Win2k SP 4).
What can I do? It isn't a good thing at all that Toshiba doesn't explain the detailed chipset of the notebook's motherboard...
Please answer me, I can't use the notebook now!

It is not simple to help you because you did not write exactly what happened. Is there some Massage? What happens after installation? Which Drivers did you install first?
As fair I know the installation hierarchy is sometimes very important. After you install OS (with or without SP) you must install Intel chipset driver and then other drivers.

Problem with touchpad and Windows 8.1. Acer Aspire E5-511

I bought an Acer Aspire E5-511, but I have problem with touchpad and Windows 8.1.The touchpad (Synaptics) is not working with Windows 8.1 x64, but it works fine with Windows 7 x64 and Windows 8 x64.When I install Windows 8.1 and have to choose” language to install” I can’t choose anything with the touchpad. I should plug in my mouse to continue. I doesn’t work even when it’s fully installed and with latest driver (available only for win 8.1 x64) from Acer’s website. I tried with an older driver, but had no success. I updated BIOS, but it doesn’t work again. In hardware IDS in device manager it shows HID\… not ACPI\… (like win 7/8). Fn+F7 doesn’t help.When I try to install Windows7/8 the touchpad is working properly at the beginning (I can choose ”language to install”, “Time and currency format”… and the touchpad works after install even without driver).

SOLUTION So guys after deep research and troubleshooting I found that you need to keep notice of a few things at time of installation: Installation Mode: UEFI (only)- LEGACY would create touchpad issues. after installation of windows just follow the driver installation hierarchy 1.Intel NB_Chipset_M Baytrail-M 2.Intel I/O Driver then rest of the crap. Note:After doing all this make sure your touchpad is active >> Fn+F7 Just wished if this solution came from an acer executive , the world would have been a better place , but anyways this is what community is for. want to generate an IBIS-File from my project within ISE 14.7, and it works, bot there is the following message inside the file:

Now i am trying to implement the official values into ISE, but i couldn't find any option inside the GUI, so i tried the command line tools (http://www.xilinx.com/support/documentation/sw_manuals/xilinx14_1/devref.pdf), where i found the IBISWriter.
But none of the specified options seem to help me... I found another help file under [Installation path]\14.7\ISE_DS\PlanAhead\doc\eng\man\write_ibis , which is openable with a normal text editor. It specifies two options, which sound very good for me:
-ibs <arg> - Specify an updated generic IBIS models file. This is used to
override the IBIS models found in the tool installation under the parts
directory. This argument is required for any parts that do not have generic
models in the installation directory.
-pkg <arg> - Specify an updated per pin parasitic package data file. This
is used to override the parasitic package file found in the the tool
installation hierarchy under the parts directory. This argument is required
for any parts that do not have generic models in the installation
directory.
But if i try the following command:
C:\Xilinx\14.7\ISE_DS>ibiswriter -ibs C:\Users\Administrator\Downloads\spartan6_ibis\spartan6.ibs C:\Xilinx\14.7\ISE_DS\PlanAhead\data\parts\xilinx\spartan6\spartan6.ibs
i get:
ERROR:Portability:90 - Command line error: Switch "-ibs" is not allowed.
I don't want to copy the files manually, because i just don't know what i have to edit, too.
And i don't want to edit the IBIS-file manually each time i change a signal.
Is anyone able to help me?

Hi,
Proably you can create the IBIS file using the ISE 14.7. Then change the specific values for the tqg14 package manually in the .ibs file. It should be the same thing as doing it with the tool.
However I would cross check if there are any other difference apart from the tqg14 information.

NTFS issue ..urgent

hey there ... i tried to install a third party app to have my mac r\w over NTFS formatted hard drives..the app was very lam so i removed it, after that the mac dosent read any NTFS drives i connect to it.. help pls,

Download Pacifist from CharlesSoft. Among its talents, it will allow you to inspect an installer *before* you get where you are now.
Launch Pacifist
Drag and drop the installer for that enhanced NTFS package on Pacifist.
You will now see the installation hierarchy:

This is a tell-tale (and not surprising) that one or more kernel extensions was installed to over-ride the default ML NTFS behavior. The second category starts one or more processes at boot to support the application functionality. The native ML Apple NTFS kernel extension is named ntfs.kext.
I have used Pacifist as a roadmap for cleaning up application cruft that was not removed by dragging the application to the trash, or as a determinant to gauge whether I wanted to risk kernel extension intrusion.
I would temporarily move all files listed by Pacifist for that rogue NTFS r/w application into a holding folder. Reboot the system, and evaluate if normal operation returned. If so, delete it.

There's a lots of installation guide but each guide is for a "standard" installation, your environment is unique and you should get help to be sure to implement SCCM to fulfill your needs.
Installing SCCM without any experience will be tricky and maintain it will be even harder. This is not a simple product.

SCCM 2012 - Primary Site Installation in a existing hierarchy

Hi,
During Primary site installation the setup is unable to retrieve the site code from the specified central administration site server. Verified that the,
Primary site server is a local admin on CAS
User account is local admin on CAS and SysAdmin on CAS SQL
User account is full administrator on CAS
User account is local admin on Primary and SysAdmin on Primary SQL
Windows firewall is disabled.
Please help on this issue.

I've seen this .. when I was in the page “Specify Join the primary site to an existing hierarchy” and provided the FQDN of the Central Administration Site (CAS) server.
I would recommend to verify the prerequisites checks I mentioned in the following post.

SCUP2011 Installation & Configuration in a hierarchy having 1 CAS+4 Primary Server

We have a SCCM Environment having 1 CAS server with 4 Primary Server. For third party update management, we have to install SCUP 2011. Now my question is what will be the best practice for installation of SCUP2011 in this environment.

Basically it does not matter where SCUP is installed. Just make sure that it connects to the topmost SUP (which should be already installed on the CAS).

I have installed Both AS ABAP and AS JAVA Stack separately and going forward I need to know
1) Do I need to install any other servers other than this like EP and PI etc?
2) I also wanted to install SRM MDM, for that I have gone through some documents and threads and found that
Prerequisites
1. SRM Server- Installed with ORACLE database
2) For SRM MDM
Ø        Download the SRM-MDM Catalog 2.0 installable from Market Place-- Done
Ø         Install the MDM Server and other GUI Clients--Done
Ø     UnArchive the SRM-MDM repository available with the installables only
                     Need help for
             . Not able to find DBMS server
             . User
               . Password for DBMS setting
Ø      Deploy the two SCA files - MDMJavaAPI and SRMMDMCAT on WAS and restart the Portal- Done
Ø        Access the Config UI by using the URL http://:/SRM-MDM/SRM_MDM and change the layout as per the requirement. In this you can specify the fields to be displayed for Search, type of UI etc for the particular user

As you have already installed Java stack then it will be your EP. You don't need PI for SRM MDM.

BW Hierarchy not coming up in my WEBI report

Hi Gurus,
I have created BW query with only 2 fields 1) 0PROJECT 2) 0WBS Element and a key fig 'No of records'. I activated the hierarchy on 0WBS. Then created universe on this query. WBS hier has 6 levels so i in universe, I got 6 dimensions with L00, L01...L06 and created my Webi report with following fields.
1) Project (dimension)
2) WBS L00 Dimension
3) WBS L01 Dimension
4) WBS L02 Dimension
5) WBS L03 Dimension
6) No of records - key fig
If I take only Project field and No of records, I can see no of rec with values. But when i executed the report with all WBS hier dimensions like L00, L01,.... i can see only project column is populated and all WBS L00, L01...etc and No of rec key fig are not populated at all.
I am new to this so am i missing anything here? We just now installed BO XI 3.1 SP3. May be some files are missing in installation?

Here there are two ways to get out this (there's no problem with u r installation)
*1) if u are using webintelligence in bo , make sure that drill option(on top) to be enabled,*
*2) in universe, select the key figure (No of records) rightclick * No:ofrecords* -> object properties -> Properties tab Check Function is assigned to sum, if the option Database delegated is there just change that to sum. and apply, save and export the universe and check again

Upgrading to Tiger Installer problems

Ok, thanks in advance for giving a glance, and, Happiest of Holidays.
I did search and still doesn't fit my situation...
Upgrading to Tiger-retail box from OWC. I use an external partinioned 200g firewire drive as a B/U and bootable OS/software tester before installing on the Pismo. The drive has 10G space available on the bootable OS partion.
Start the Tiger DVD installer it begins and after installing Base System part 1 and moving to Running Installer Script the process stalls; doesn't crash - just stops: The FW drive stops blinking and the DVD stops spinning....
OK maybe i overlooked something etc... Have to erase the OS partition; clone 10.3.9 from the pismo to it and start again. This time do all the checks: Run disk utility, Tiger cache cleaner etc... all works well, even boot and work on the drive for a few days. Start the upgrade process again, stalls at the exact same place. I want to run Tiger on the FW drive prior to the Pismo to check it out and i don't relish the thought of having to start from scratch if problems occur installing on the Pismo....
This time i printed the log file which i include below.
I called OWC tech dept. - they said i probably don't have enough disk space for the process... the process told me it only required 3.5G. They didn't offer any further knowledge.
Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated!

Error While Opening dataform after creating Planning Unit Hierarchy

Hi All,
I created a Planning Application through classic wizard. Then i created a planning unit hierarchy, after which I am getting the following error: (when i try to open a dataform, from some user other than admin/owner)
*"Security and/or filtering has resulted in a required dimension not being represented on this data form"*
I know that this error occurs when some dimension members are represented on dataform but are not assigned with security rights. But thats not the problem in my case. Because I assign security rights to all members of all dimension just for the sake of testing. I later on identifed that this error occurs due to dimensions present in POV i.e. I need to select a single member of each POV dimensions, then in such case this error disappears.
Now my question is that why i need to select a single member from each POV dimension? I general i leave POV dimensions as it is, while creating dataform
Right now i aad a dummy member at the top of each dimension, e.g Account_UnSpecified, Entity_UnSpecified and so on . . . and then i select this member from each of POV dimension.

You can try creating new Root folder and new workspace for your NWDS.
1. Create a new folder with name ' <userID>_NWDS_NEW_ROOT ' in your machine
2. Create a new folder with name ' <userID>_NWDS_NEW_WORKSPACE ' in your machine
3. Open NWDS (and logon to DTR)
4. Remove all configurations from your Development Configuration perspective (except 'Local Development')
5. Go to Window --> Preferences --> Java Development Infra --> Development Configurations
6. Change 'Root Folder' to the folder created in step-1
7. Close NWDS
8. Create ' Run_NWDS.bat ' file in your NWDS installation folder which has 'SapIde.exe' file
(it will be generally in --> C:\Program Files\SAP\IDE\IDE70\eclipse)
9. Type following in .bat file -->
SapIde.exe -data "<complete path to folder created in step-2>"
10. Now double click on this .bat file to open NWDS
Now logon to DTR, import configuration, create project from 'inactive DCs' and you should be able to create project and see it in respective perspective.

Not able to access the Default Versions Hierarchy in DRM

Hi all,
I am new to DRM I did the installation of DRM 11.1.1.2 configured on MS SQL server 2000 after starting the services and login to it successfully i am not able to find out the Hierarchy when i Right click on Initial version and say Open all i get following massage" No Hierarchy found in Version 'Initial Version' "
I think i want to know how to run the script manually as i feel this is because i have not executed the script yet any buddy can help with that or any document on it.

You've proobably already figured out that there aren't any hierarchies loaded by default. You can add hierarchy direct to version Initial or create a new version to create hierarchies.

Problems when trying to export VI using save hierarchy

I have a VI I want to send to another engineer at a different location. I know what version of LabVIEW they have, but I do not know if they have all the instrument drivers. I choose 'save hierarchy' to duplicate the VI and all it's dependencies to a seperate directory. It tells me some of my instrument libraries cannot be duplicated because they are already in memory, and asks if I want to rename them. I save the instrument libraries with a new name.
However, I notice the copied VI still links to the instrument libraries in my labview directory. How do I get the copied VI to link to the renamed instrument library?
What is the easiest way to get the VI to my fellow engineer and be sure it will be executable? Make it into an .exe?

The best way to distribute applications to other users for simply running the code is using an installer. First you will build an executable then package it in an installer where you can choose other files to install with the executable.

I need to find an OSX 10.5.8 installation disk (an older imac) for disk utility, any idea's?

One of two logins won't log-in. Blue screen only on the login we use. The other works. Verify disk comes up with this:
