Installation/Launch error Oracle Software Packager

Hi. Has anyone ever run into problems launching Oracle Software Packager after the install? I'm getting the following error log generated each time I try to run it.
"Cannot run application. Please confirm that java 1.3.1 is in the PATH. If you are running on Windows ME/95/98, you may need to increase the environment memory in order to start OSP."
"Java version used is"
java version "1.3.1_01"
Java(TM) 2 Runtime Environment, Standard Edition (build 1.3.1_01)
Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 1.3.1_01, mixed mode)
I messed around the windows path and memory variables, but to no avail. I currently have j2sdk_nb installed and have been trying to run OSP 2.2.0.16.0 I'm running W2k.

hi.
This is a OUI problem.
Plase, check the Note: 131299.1 in Oracle Metalink and apply the workaround.
good luck

  • Oracle Software Package & Oracle Universal Installer

    Some question:
    - Which is the suite where Oracle Software Packager is distributed?
    - Does Oracle Software Packager works fine with Oracle Universal Installer 2.1?
    - Can Oracle Software Configuration Manager be a good replacement of Oracle
    Software Packager?

If I understand the problem, it's a login issue. Oracle 9i, when connecting as the user sys or system, requires the role SYSDBA or SYSOPER. The problem when using the GUI tools is there's no place to enter "AS SYSDBA". You may want to try putting it in the connection (alias) field as "alias AS SYSDBA". Using the command line, it looks like: SQLPLUS "sys/pwd@alias as sysdba".

  • Oracle Software Packager (OSP) Latest Software & Documentation

    Hi,
I am looking for latest version of OSP, when I google I got only Oracle Software Packager and Installer, Release 2.2.0.16.0 to download but I need latest version.
Where can I get the latest version of software and documentation. Please provide if anybody has any documentation on how to setup and usage etc.
    Thanks a lot in advance.

Apparently what you found is the most current version. I contacted internal OTN support, and got this answer: "I am not aware of a more current version that what is listed."

  • Oracle Software Packager.

    Hi,
I'm trying to install Oracle Software Packager version 1.7.0.20.0A
    on a Win2000 Server and the setup.exe program won't run. I installed
JDK 1.1.8 for Microsoft Windows, set CLASSPATH and PATH environment
variables. The release notes states that it runs on Win2000 Professional
Workstation with no mention of Win2000 server. If it works on Win200 Prof,
shouldn't it work on Win2000 Server??
    Thx,
    John

It turns out that JDK1.1.8 won't work correctly on
Pentium 4 machines. Old versions of symcjit.dll
cause Oracle's setup not to run on P4 machines.
This is what worked for me:
    1. Copy the contents of the \install directory to a temporary
    directory on
    your harddisk.
    2. Search for all copies of the 'symcjit.dll' file, and rename them
    to
    symcjit.old'.
    3. Go to the \install directory and open the 'oraparam.ini' file
    for
    editing.
Please note this file is write-protected.
    4. Change the JRE_MEMORY_OPTIONS parameter to
    JRE_MEMORY_OPTIONS=-nojit -ms16m -mx32m
    5. Save the oraparam.ini file.
    6. Start the installation again.
The answer was found here: http://www.orafaq.com/msgboard/sqlnet/messages/1514.htm
It would be nice if Oracle put this info in the friggin release notes
for the software packager. But, I guess that would be too much work.
Why does the packager still use such an old version of java??? Anyhow,
thanks Oracle for wasting 2 days of my time..

well, it's working now. (I had cleared out my cache and re-tried it several times before I posted the message).

  • Different Oracle Software packages

    Hi,
There are different Oracle software packages at their download site:
    - Database
    - Application Server
    - Development Tools
    - Data Warehousing and Business Intelligence
    - more
and each of these groups has sub-groups, e.g. under Application Server there
    are
    - Oracle9i Application Server
    - Oracle9iAS Portal
I'm confused as to what each package does. What's the difference between
"Database" and "Application Server". Which one
do I need? And under each group, which sub-group do I need?
Is there any docs I can read on the functions of the products?
    Any help is most appreciated!

Please provide enough information for us to know what you are trying to do and with what version.
You could be asking about anything from the box the software comes in (if it did) to built-in PL/SQL packages and we should not have to guess at your meaning.

  • OSP (Oracle Software Packager): 'Missing Component' when Verify Stage Area

I'm trying make a stage area for "Oracle Net 9.0.1.2.0". ( I haven´t find the way to Install alone this product with the CD's of Oracle 9iDS Release 2 ).
    When I import Oracle Net 9.0.1.2.0 ( with the option "Import dependee" selected ) and make the Stage it´s gone right, but when I verify the Stage Area always show this errors;
Error: Not all the dependencies for the component Assistant Common Files
    9.0.2.0.0 are found. Missing Component oracle.swd.jre 1.1.8.1.0.
Error: Not all the dependencies for the component Assistant Common Files

Warning: Not all the dependencies for the component Assistant Common Files
    9.0.2.0.0 are found. Missing Component oracle.jdk 1.3.1.0.0a.
    I find this directories from "oracle." components in CD of Oracle 9iDS, but if I selected manually its, error that it´s show is;
The file specified is either corrupt or not a valid cmp file.
How and where I can find this components?
    Thanks,
    Raúl ABAD.

You have to create UP2DATE_RPM yourself. The, for your repository os, correct rpm can be downloaded from https://linux.oracle.com/switch.html f.i. to /tmp
zip up2date_comp.zip up2date-5.10.1-40.8.el5.x86_64.rpm (and maybe also the correct gnome rpm if it's not default installed).
Now this zip-file can be uploaded into the Software Library as described in OEM Advanced Configuration:
The Software Library by default contains the latest version of up2date for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4, i386 hardware platform. If the Staging Server is of a different release version or architecture (use uname -p on your system to identify the architecture), download the appropriate version of "up2date" and "up2date-gnome" packages from the link http://linux.oracle.com/switch.html. Compress these two packages by using Zip utility into a file named "up2date_comp.zip" and replace it in the Software Library location, "Components > Oracle Components > Stage Server Up2date Component > 10.2.0.4.0 > Linux > UP2DATE_RPM".
The way I uploaded the zip file: Deployments > Provisioning > Components > Oracle Components > Stage Server Up2date Component > 10.2.0.4.0 > Linux > select UP2DATE_RPM, Edit, Upload file, Upload from Agent Machine. Select Agent and go to the directory /tmp and select up2date-comp.zip.
Maybe this not completely up-to-date anymore, but I hope it helps you.

  • Software packager filemap?

I am trying to create a oracle software package via the software packager utility. When setting up the packager to add the components I would like in the installation file it it asking me to browse searching for a filemap file. This file will allow me to select from the list of oracle client components I would like included in the package. I thought that the file name would be the products.jar file but this is not working. Does anyone know what the filemap file name would be? I have not been able to find any documentation on this, an example of the file name would be very helpful. Thank you for your help.

  • Oracle Software not installed

    Hi!
I tried to install SAP NetWeaver 7.1 with Oracle 10 under Windows Server 2003 64bit in english fully updated. But I ran into two problems which prevented the SAP installation to finish : first once all the oracles updates were installed, the oracle wintows service would not start; second sapinst never managed to find the oracle installation and always answered "Oracle Software not installed".
For this installation I downloaded all the installation files from the SAP download center like this :
         - On http://service.sap.com/swdc in the left frame : download/installation and upgrades/entry by application group
         - then in the center frame : SAP NetWeaver/SAP NetWeaver/SAP NETWEAVER CE 7.1/Installation/Windows Server/Oracle/
         - I added everything to the Download basket but "Oracle 10.2.0.2.0 Patch for AIX 64bit" and "Oracle 10.2.0.2.0 Patch for Solaris 64bit"
    - then I took the last patch for Oracle 10 on the SAP download center :
         - on http://service.sap.com/swcenter-3pmain in the left frame : Oracle/Oracle 64-bit/Oracle 10.2.0 64bit/Oracle 10.2.0.2/NT_x86_64
         - I added the last patch to the download basket
Then I followed this installation steps :
installation of the last jdk : jdk-6u3-windows-i586-p.exe
    installation of Oracle 10.2.0.1 with : Oracle10.2.0.1-51031678\NT\I386\sapserver.cmd
installation of the last update for oracle 10.2.0.2 with : DVD_ORACLE_10.2.0.2_Patches_WIN_AIX_SOL\NT\I386\setup.exe
=> I had a problem with the installation of the patch chich detected the wrong version of windows so I forced it with : OPATCH_PLATFORM_ID=233 (I checked it before, it should really be the right one)
installation of the last patch of oracle :
         - definition of ORACLE_HOME and addition of opatch to the PATH
         - execution of "opatch apply" in the folder Oracle-10202_Patch16_MSWINX86-64-6397030\
===> *PB* : the installation of this patch enables the oracle windows service which won't run and doesn't send any errors (just timeout). I didn't find any help on this one. When I tried to start sqlplus in console, I got errors about DLLs not found but they exists in the bin directory of oracle and are in the PATH...
installation of NetWeaver 7.1 with SAP NetWeaver CE 7.1 SP3 for Oracle - 51032969\DATA_UNITS\CE71_03_IM_WIN_X86_64_ORA\sapinst.exe
           - normal installation + JavaEE + CompEnv
              - Media Browser - RDBMS Client Oracle : Oracle 10.2 Client - 51033272\OCL_WINDOWS_I386\LABEL.ASC
===> *PB* : at this point of the sap installation, I got an error "Oracle Software not installed" without any details. I didn't find any help on that either. It seems to come from a registry key missing...
After that, I uninstalled (with removal of the right keys in the registry to have something clean (<a href="http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/install.102/b14316/deinstall.htm">url</a>)) Oracle many times and tried different installation steps : without the patches, with the patches but without the update (doesn't work), with the patch 15, with the patch 16. In each cases Oracle service wasn't working if a patch was installed. And in each cases the sap installation never detected an Oracle installation. This installation steps are very reproductibles and are problemful.
Could anybody have some pointers or help on that one ?
    Thanks in advance,
    Florian

    Hello Friends,
I tried the AMD64 based Installation Source to install Oracle 10g. and It works.
I also applied sufficient patches (AMD64/x86_64 based) to Oracle, as required. It worked fine, without giving that "Platform not compatible" error, as it was giving me before.
Now,I have got that , my machine was expecting x86_64 based Installation of Oracle .
    I was little bit confused between x86, x64, x84_64, I386,etc..etc..terms...
Thanks to Markus and other friends.
The problem was due to mix installation of 32bit +  64bit Oracle Software & Patches. Previously, i installed  i386 based Oracle, which is 32 bit version. Then i tried AMD64 based Installation source of Oracle RDBMS. It workes.
Previously, I was applying x86_64 based Oracle patches 16 & 17 on 32-bit Oracle version, thats why definitely it was giving error of "Platform not compatible", because it was expecting 64Bit Oracle version to implement that patch.
But, now, i successfully applied these two required Oracle 10.0.2.0 patches(16 & 17),on this 64Bit Oracle. (AMD64 based Installation source).
Then, I had run SAPInst of Installation Master (Win_x86_64) and started the Installation again. I also gave Oracle RDBMS Client Source location (x86_64 based). Then, also provided other required parameters. Now, the SAPInst worked fine, without that "Oracle Software not Installed" error.
And, Ultimately I successfully installed the SAP NetWeaver CE 7.1 on 64Bit Oracle 10g Database Software. Right now, the Server is working fine, without Errors.
    Thanks Again.....

I have visited the link before, but unable to download the file, the link is broken.
If you can download the sample code for multiple fields dialog (multi.cmp) and running a sql script using the "spawn" action (run_sql.cmp), then please send these files to me by email because on my side the link is broken.
The error message received when trying to download ...

  • New version of Software Packager?

Our Company is Oracle Partner and we use Oracle Software Packager for deploying our application to our customers. It's been a while since Oracle released an update for it.
Does Oracle plan to release a new Version of Software Packager which supports products.xml or will Oracle release a new toolset for creating installation sets in the new .xml format?
Maybe the tools you internally use for creating your installation sets? Or does Oracle create everything by hand?
    Thanks for your reply,
    Regards Daniel

Trust me i have read every document on metalink concerning OSP more then once...
"Any question or problem with this product from non members of Oracle Partners
should be posted in the OTN forums."
If this are not the OTN forums tell me where to find them please.
(Ignoring the fact the we are oracle partners.)
I didn't criticize the support itself, it's the philosophy how oracle tries to let some products die silently, more or less ignoring the fact that they have customers which use them.
This isn't the first time/product we have to deal with that...
