Installation loop

Hello,
I have Acrobat Pro, installed and it works fine.
I have the new Acrobat reader 9.x, the latest installed and it works fine.
However, I have a loop with an Acrobat Reader that wants to install. Evertime I right click a file or folder, it comes up and says it's installing. Of course, I've let it go through a number of times.
No difference. It still wants to install AGAIN.
I had hoped a fresh install would stomp the problem, but it never goes away.
It's very annoying and I spend my life hitting the cancel button every time I go to do something.
Eventually, after a few times of doing this, it stops, but then on re-start the next day the thing starts again.
Thanks!

Hi Grand..
Can u share some more information like:
-what versions of reader and acrobat u have.
-which operating sys u have.
-which folders and files are u talking about-" Evertime I right click a file or folder, it comes up and says it's installing.".
I too have installed Acrobat 9.3.3 without any problems.

  • Endless Installation Loop...

    Hey,
So, I went and started up boot camp and installed Windows XP Pro (SP2), it said the installation was a success. However, when I restart my computer (without holding option), the screen goes black and boots into windows. Windows then says "PLEASE INSERT SYSTEM DISK AND PRESS ANY KEY TO CONTINUE". When I do, it starts up the install prompt and does the whole thing over again. I have tried numerous partition types (NTFS, FAT32, Leaving it intact, etc.) with no success. Also, when I try holding option, the system ignores me and does its endless installation loop again. I have to hold 3 keys (I forgot what they are, but that's not important) just to get it to boot back into OS X.
So, what do I have to do in order to run Windows Successfully? I have also tried many different install disks, still with no success.
Do you think upgrading my Boot Camp Assistant will help?

The only boot camp assistant version is 2.0 for mac. Boot camp only updates to 2.1 on the windows side. You can try redownloading bootcamp assitant for mac or reinstall mac os again maybe something is wrong?

  • Stuck in Installation Loop on WinXP and IE8

    Hi all,
First post... had a look around, googled etc, could not find related issue or solution:
I have a user who is using WinXP (UK version) though who uses their laptop in Spain and who each time they open IE8 and go to a flash web-site, it tries to download updates for Flash even though it has 11.4.4.02.287 installed.
Flash then needs IE to close so it can install, though when you open IE again, it repeats the same process of downloading 9354k of data and then loops again.
Any ideas, please?  Have rebotoed, uninstalled, re-installed, deleted the data from C:\Windows\System32,  %appdata%\adobe,  %appdata%\macromedia, etc.
Any reg keys that need tinkering?
    Thanks, Anton

I think what is happening, is that the site your user is visiting is using a script that first checks to see if Flash is installed, and if not, invokes our Express Install mechanism.
The problem is that Flash *is* installed, but the browser's security settings are such that Flash is not allowed to run.  The JavaScript on the page looks to see if Flash is there, Flash doesn't respond, and it launches the Express Installer.
I'd recommend resetting Internet Explorer to default settings as the fastest way to get this resolved:

  • Caught in failing lion server installation loop

    Hi,
I tried upgrading my Mac mini server (2010) from Snow Leopard Server to Lion Server. Midway through the installation the process is aborted with the error message "a recovery system can't be created, press restart to return to your previous system installation". The problem is, upon restart it does not boot into the previous system, but instead the Lion installation process starts again and fails with the same  "a recovery system can't be created" message. I am caught in a loop.
How can I restore my previous working Snow Leopard System?
    Regards,
    Sascha

Well, it is possible that the Snow Leopard system is still in place.  But for the reason for the error.  I am guessing your original server is running on a mirrored RAID.  If so, then the recovery volume can not be created.  This is a limitation of the corestorage tech and how full disk encryption and dynamic repartitioning work.
Try this.  When the unit reboots, hold down the option key on a connected keyboard.  When you do so, this will bring you into the boot select window.  See if you SL volume is still present.
If not, you did remember to snap a backup of the server before you started, right?

  • Roxio Media Manager in Continuous Installation Loop

After crashing my computer, I had to reinstall the desktop software for my Blackberry 8830 as well as ITunes. Since adding ITunes I have been getting a continuous loop with Roxio Media Manager trying to install itself when I open the Desktop Manager, but the installation is never completed and seems impossible to cancel. Evidently others have had the same problem and cannot get rid of Roxio Media Manager and cannot stop it from constantly installing (and blocking installation of other programs). I have tried to follow instructions that I found on the Roxio website to uninstall, but those instructions did not work. That involved downloading Windows Installer Cleanup Utility, but that won't install either, because the Roxio is showing up as installing. The Roxio program came bundled with the Blackberry setup, so I cannot find it listed on my programs to uninstall. Please help. How can I get this program off my computer or stop its constant (every few seconds) efforts to install itself?

  • 2010 MBP Windows 7 Installation Loop PLEASE HELP

After months of trying to resolve this by searching on Google, I`ve decided to directly list my problem here to see if anyone is experiencing any similar problems or has a solution.
Problem: When trying to install Windows 7 on my Macbook Pro, everything was going smooth and at the words "Completing Installation..." the installation freezes and I reboot the computer, once rebooted, a message pops up
"The computer restarted unexpectedly or encountered an unexpected error. Windows installation cannot proceed. To install Windows, click "OK" to restart the computer, and then restart the installation."
and after clicking "OK", the computer restarts and comes back to the very same message, even after about 30+ tries. It`s an endless loop.
    Note:
    - I`ve had Windows 7 previously on this Mac, and it didn`t work after I uninstalled it and tried to re-install. Then I reformatted my mac and still no success.
    - I`ve tried booting the disk at startup AND the Windows Partition, but both have the same problem.
    - I`ve tried the "Repair" option
    - Used Bootcamp Assistant to partition the disk, have tried deleting the partition and remaking a new one, still the same problem
    - It`s definitely not the disk itself
    - I`ve tried reinstalling multiple times and even waiting 8+ hours at "Completing Installation..." (the part where it normally freezes) no signs of change.
    - Windows 7 32bit home edition (genuine)
    - Bootcamp Assistant
    - 13" Macbook Pro, Mid 2010
    - OS X Lion 10.7.3
    - Graphics: NIVIDIA GeForce 320M 256 MB
    - Memory: 4 GB 1067 MHz DDR3
    - Processor 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

thank you Kay. I have installed the new drivers properly. My audio problem is fixed, however I am still getting 3.9 hours of battery life using windows, while on the mac os, I can get close to 7. Can anyone tell me anything I can do to fix this or do I have to wait for the compatible update that apple will release soon?
    thanks
Different software can produce very different charge life times, Iamtheone. It may simply relate to different demands placed on processor and HD use by the software you are using under bootcamp when compared to the software being used under OSX. Perhaps it is even simply a measure of the different operating efficiency (power wise) of Windows and OSX 10.6?
What software are you typically using when running bootcamp?
    Cheers

  • The never ending installation loop - Help!

    Dear Apple Forums,
I can honestly say I used to hate apple, but since buying one for university use I've come to love my little MacBook Pro. However, it has recently suffered a massive problem and I've run into a very difficult situation. My macbook pro started giving me problems a couple weeks ago with the mac screen of death ("please restart your computer" in 3 languages) and I attempted to fix it using the mac troubleshooting guide online to no avail. Things only got worse as it took up to 7 attempts to get to the desktop. I finally decided to reformat this bad boy in hopes that whatever was wrong with it would go away.
However, I've run into a major problem with the installation process. It seemed to be running fine through the first Mac OS X install disk, and it asked me to restart my computer, which I attempted when it showed me the screen of death. I just ignored it and continued on by inserting the second disk when prompted. Now I seem to be stuck in an endless loop of installation. I get to about half way through the installation when it tells me there was an error and that I should try installing again. I've attempted to install the second disk about eight times now, and I don't know what I need to do next.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. I live in Maine, and I don't want to have to drive to New Hampshire to fix my precious computer.

Figured I'd start recording the errors I get in the Installer Log:

  • OBI SE1 Installation Problem - Installation loops

    Hi all,
I've been trying to install an OBI se1 on a new server with nothing on it but Windows server 2003.
I've gotten up to the "Installing oracle business intellligence 101..3.2.1" and the Installation seems to be looping through the installFromOUI.bat and running it again and again.
I've been at it for a whole day now...

How long have you waited after 98% installation screen? It usually takes a good while for post scripts to execute.

  • Roxio Media Manager Installation Loop

I know there are threads of prior discussion on this, but I haven't seen a solution....
Roxio is initiating the Windows Installer and is looking for a file "Roxio Media Manager.msi" which is nowhere to be found.
Cancelling the request, just loops back to ask for the file.
I have done a clean install of DSM, including manually deleting all the registry entries and files, but the problem has come creeping back.
    Any thoughts?

    Welcome to the forums
If you don't really need Roxio, I recommend downloading DTM without Media Manager because it runs a lot better. I found Roxio kept crashing the software.
What version of DTM did you download btw, and what OS are your running on your computer (XP, Vista)?

  • Hp Photosmart C6180: endless installation loop

Hi, I've seen that many people had a similar problem but I don't have found any solution.
On a Windows XP32 desktop pc I had to reinstall a HP 6180 network printer.
The original software/driver CD enter in a endless loop; firstly ask to check internet for update, after a while reboot, and after reboot start again from the beginning asking to check for update, reboot ... and so on ...
I've tried to uninstall all software and reinstall but still the same.
I've tried to follow instruction to clean all drivers using "L...something.bat" and download full software/driver (more than 500mb) but result is still the same, endeless loop.
I've tried to add printer manually and select "driver disk" ... the printer now works, but it's impossible install the software and also the scanner device is missing.
Any suggestion about how to exit from this loop ?
    Thanks

  • Satellite Z830-10J stucks in a installation loop

    Hello,
i need some help... I have a new Z830-10J. During the first
setup the Notebook crashed and rebooted. I always get
    the error
"The computer restarted unexpectedly or encountered
an unexpected error. Windows installation cannot proceed. To install
Windows, click "OK" to restart the computer, and then restart the installation."
After the restart i get the same error again and again... Pushing F8 does not bring
the repair options. Every option (Safe Mode, Debugging and so on) only leads to the
    same error.
    What can i do?
    Best regards,
    Markus

Problem is that first OS installation and configuration was interrupted for some reason. If this happen nothing works anymore.
In my opinion you have two options:
-contact your local dealer as soon as possible, explain the situation and ask for replacement.
-to have original OS (recovery image) you must install recovery image using original Toshiba installation disc and it must be ordered by Toshiba.
In my opinion you should talk with your local dealer at first to see what they will say about it.
Just dont waste your time making some experiments. You have bought new product and it must works properly.
Please inform us about your next steps.

  • Windows xp pro installation looping

Hey i started bootcamp and use the windows xp pro on my macbook pro, everytime I tried to install it, it would restart and do the same thing over and over again. I finally figured out how to remove the disk from my macbook, but now my screens just black with a folder in the middle with a question mark on it. I put in my reinstallation disk of Mac OS X and now when it says select a destination to store it on... there is none! can someone help me from this point please i would appreciate it alot

HI and Welcome to Apple Discussions...
*"folder in the middle with a question mark on it."*
A flashing question mark appears when you start your Mac
Boot your Mac while holding down the Option key. That will prompt the Startup Manager window.
If that doesn't work, check the hard disk for errors.
Insert Installer disk and Restart, holding down the "C" key until grey Apple appears.
Go to Installer menu (Panther and earlier) or Utilities menu (Tiger and later) and launch Disk Utility.
Select your HDD (manufacturer ID) in the left panel.
Select First Aid in the Main panel.
(Check S.M.A.R.T Status of HDD at the bottom of right panel. It should say: Verified)
Click Repair Disk on the bottom right.
If DU reports disk does not need repairs quit DU and restart.
If DU reports errors Repair again and again until DU reports disk is repaired.
When you are finished with DU, from the Menu Bar, select Utilities/Startup Manager.
Select your start up disk and click Restart
While you have the Disk Utility window open, look at the bottom of the window where you see Capacity and Available. Make sure there is always 15% free disk space. Not enough disk space can cause directory corruption.
If you cannot boot from your install disk, try booting in Safe Mode

  • Iphoto 9.3 update installation loop on step5 99%.

Do you have a solution please?

Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild.
    If that fails:
Restore from your back up, repair the Library and try again

  • NAC Agent Installation "loop"

    Hello Guys, me again
I'm seeing an issue when the client tries to install the NAC agent on his PC.
The client reports that an update is available for which I click OK, then it appears to download the new agent (really fast btw) and then it starts installing it. Once that's done it reports again that an update is available and the process starts all over and keeps going on indefinetely.
The only way I managed to get around it was by disabling the "upgrade mandatory" setting on the client provisioning policy. Still I get the "an upgrade is available" message only that with that setting disabled I can hit cancel and continue.
Another thing that I'm seeing is that client that I'm seeing as installed on the client is 4.9.0.36 but the ISE only has 4.9.0.37 so I dont know where the .36 is coming from if nothing has been previously installed on the client.
Has anybody else run into this issue before?
    Thanks in advance,
    Luis Raga

I'm getting the same issue. I have agents running version 4.7.2.10 and the new version that they are being prompted to install is version 4.9.2.8. The install starts and seems to complete, but when the NAC agent restarts the user is prompted to reinstall the new agent. When you check the version of the NAC installed it is still 4.7.2.10.

  • Maverick install loop

I have just gotten a new hard drive for my MacBook Pro with Lion OS, but tried to upgrade to Mavericks. Installation looped around 10 minutes before finish and kept freezing. I now cannot get back to the original settings- every time I try to restart installation starts again and crashes. Does anyone know how I can return to my previous OS? I do not have a time machine backup for the new hard drive. Thanks!

    FishEvoDevo,
when you ran Disk Utility, had you booted into Recovery mode when you did so? If so, have you tried reïnstalling Lion or Mavericks (whichever OS the new drive’s current recovery partition came from) from Recovery mode? If you’ve tried that too, then you’ll need to erase your new drive and reïnstall the version of OS X that’s on your grey Mac OS X Install DVD. Once that’s been done, run Software Update (and if necessary, install Snow Leopard from the white retail DVD and run Software Update again) to get to 10.6.8. From 10.6.8, you can redownload and reïnstall either Lion or Mavericks, and then run Software Update once more.
