Since I installed OSX Lion on my MacBook Pro, sometimes after login, the colored wheel keeps turning and I can't do anything. When I click on some icon or in the menu, no happens.
After a long time (more than 1 hour), I decide to switch off my Mac holding the button down and when I boot and log in again, it works normally.
Remark: When I logoff, I do not ask to keep my open programs for the next session.
    I have a MacBook Pro 2010 with 4GB Ram.

  • OSX Lion on new Macbook pro

Just bought a Macbook pro, with the release of OSX lion, will i get a free upgrade, or do i still need to buy OSX Lion like everyone else?

If you purchase a Mac between June 6, 2011 and the day that Lion is released you will be entitled to a free upgrade through the Up-to-Date programs. Now, if it's anything like their past Up-to-Date programs, they'll ask you to submit the purchase date and serial number of your Mac to verify if you're entitled.
We won't know for sure though how they will verify how a person is entitled to the upgrade until it goes live though.
    Have a great day.

  • CS4 installation on OSX lion

I am trying to install cs4 design premier on my new macbook pro running osx 10.7.3. I have the dvds, also tried downloading from a link somewhere in the forums here, same problem with each. The dvds do work on my older macbook.
When I open the setup file, the red box appears in the dock and I am prompted to enter my computer password. When I do that another red box appears in the dock, this one bounces, the original one has the light that shows it is active. A status window opens that says Adobe Creative Suite Design Premium Installer: Initializing on the top and main_pageSubTitle in the window. The status bar gets to about 80% and I can hear the dvd running, then the extra red box stops bouncing and the dvd stops and the status bar stops and that is that. Nothing more.
I have tried verifying and repairing my hd and the Adobe CS5 Cleaner Tool. Also have tried creating a different user account on my computer and installing there and also starting up in safe mode (though I am not sure I did that correctly, I tried a few times but I don't see any indication that I am in safe mode once the computer starts other than taking a little longer to boot up.
Please help! I can't afford to upgrade my cs right now!

Don't know whether this will help you
    but
download the trial of CS4 from here
    http://prodesigntools.com/download-adobe-cs4-and-cs3-free-trials-here.html
    relative to your package
then your serial should work presuming it's legit and stuff!!

My phone works all fine when am in mumbai but as soon s i leave mumbai I am not able to make an otgoing call
This is entirely a carrier issue.  If your carrier (airtel) doesn't provide service outside of Mumbia, this has nothing to do with your iPhone.
i feel i need to change my brand

  • OSX Lion on 13" MacBook Pro

When I use the "pinch movement" to magnify a page it freezes. I have to use the 2 finger double tap. When I restart it works again. Is this fixable?

I have the same issue today. MacBook Pro 13" from 2009. Just randomly started freezing and programs would stop responding.
I decided to update the OS to see if that solved it. Instead that has left me at the restart screen with a spinning wheel for well over an hour now... I am getting close to just throwing this thing at a wall it has become so frustrating to watch.
    What do I do???

  • OSX Lion stuck at reinstallation

    Hello dear Apple community,
I recently decided to have a fresh re-installation of OSX Lion on my Macbook Pro because it was craaawling slow over the last few weeks.
I erased the hard disk and chose to re-install as indicated in the official apple assistance page.
The problem now, is that since yesterday (it's been more than 12 hours) my laptop is stuck at a white screen with a wheel spinning on the botton and a "forbidden" sign in the middle of the screen. Please see the snapshot below. It's been like that for more than 12 hours, and I thought I should wait for it to finish something that it has been doing, but watching a few videos and visiting some websites on how to re-install I saw that this shouldn't happen!
Note: Please, don't tell me what I should have done, like reinstalling from a flash drive etc. Please tell me, how I would be able to solve this now, because I need my computer to be functioning tomorrow morning for my job.
    Thank you.

Are you sure shutting it down manually is a safe choice?
Yes it is safe, besides the only other option is running the battery till empty and that is not good for the battery.
Boot the MBP with the OPTION + COMMAND + R keys.
The display should show a revolving globe.
If you follow the directions, you will be connected to the Apple servers.  There will be a four option menu.  Select Disk Utility and erase the HDD.  Then select the reinstall option and it should allow for the installation of the original OSX.
You will need a solid Internet connection.
    Ciao

  • How to authorize other Macs for OSX Lion?

    Hello,
My sister bought a refurbished MacBook Pro that came with the former OSX release 10.6 Snow Leopard. I know that I can authorize her Mac to allow the download and installation of OSX Lion. The problem is that she already created a different Apple ID for her, however she does want Lion on her Mac. Is it possible to authorize a Mac that uses a different Apple ID from mine?
    Thanks!

    Ok... Is that easy?

  • Battery Lifetime decreases and CPU Temp. raises with OSX Lion

Recently, I have installed the OSX Lion on my MacBook Pro (bought in November 2009).
Now my device gets really hot and the fan is blowing continuousely.
When I'm checking the activity, I see, that "Dashboard" needs a lot of capacity.
Furthermore, the battery works for less than 5 hours (was 8 hours before).
Is someone having the same problems?

you may want to remove some of your widgets in dashboard as they might not be compatible with lion.

  • How do I uninstall OSX Lion

any bright people out there know how to uninstall OSX Lion off a macbook pro?

Sure.. reinstall from scratch is one approach.. but it's probably easier to fix the issues.
    What's the problem?
Try repair permissons and restart. Try installing 10.7.3 Combo from your desktop. Try deleting "-" the wifi service in Systems Preferences/Network, and then recreate it "+". Then restart.

  • Osx lion: available space on my HD has increased significantly since the iCloud and recovery disc updates for Mac.

osx lion: available space on my HD has increased significantly (doubled!) since the iCloud and recovery disc updates for Mac. I am guessing OSX Lion now recalculates what is 'available' as I have not deleted anything major. I have two MacBook Air's (1 core 2 duo and 1 i5), both with 256 drives. I am also running win 7 on Parallels 7. Any thoughts?

you can't necessarily download the Mountain Lion installer via the App Store since it came already installed on your computer.
Not true. You can go to the Mac App Store and download the installer
(from the link that WALTER-MILANO-ITALY posted above)
Install OS X Lion or OS X Mountain Lion
If you completed your installation of OS X, your installer may have been removed after your successful first login to OS X Lion or OS X Mountain Lion.  Mac App Store's Purchases page should show Install OS X as being "Installed", and disallow its download, when viewed from a computer running OS X.
To redownload the installer on a computer running OS X Lion or OS X Mountain Lion, press and hold the Option key while you click the Purchases tab. If the button to the right of the Install OS X Lion or OS X Mountain Lion item doesn't change to "Install" and allow you to download OS X, use Spotlight to search for "Install OS X Lion or OS X Mountain Lion" on your computer.

  • I own a late 2009 Macbook Pro, and it keeps freezing after OSX Lion installation.

I own a late 2009 Macbook Pro, and it keeps freezing after OSX Lion installation.  I will post my computer's 'specs' below.  I installed Lion, from Snow Leopard, through the App store.  The first week, it worked like a dream, and was loving my brand new computer, or so it seemed.  I then began to run into problems, and I can't confirm this 100%, but I believe it was after I updated from 10.7.1, to 10.7.2.
The freezes are sporatic at best, and cannot be narrowed down to one app.  I googled the issue about two weeks ago, and found a fix involving a temporary log-in, verifying the disk, restarting the computer holding CMD+R, and repairing the disk from there.  That fixed the problem.  For about three or four days.  From there I brought my laptop to Best Buy, where I purchased the computer (start the groans, my dad wanted the accidental damage, and he was paying, there was no argument).  My warranty there was still good, but all they were offering was to check my hard-drive, and possibly ship it out.  That would not be good for me, as I am a High School student, who works online.
So I then decided to go to the Apple store, see what they said.  They said a bunch of people had this problem, it would cost a lot to fix, as I would need a new Logic Board.  This did not make any sense to me, as I knew it was Lion's fault, so why would they not make the L-2009MBP Logic Board compatible, and why are only a few people having this problem, well a lot more than a few, but I mean not everyone.
So I asked a friend about it, and we decided to run a back up, and erase the computer, and re-install Lion.  Figuring maybe my data was corrupted during install.  This helped for a day or two, and happened again.  So this time, we backed up only files (music, pics, documents, etc.,) and did a fresh install.  I got my computer back last night.  Now, I am not saying that didn't help.  Previously I would have frozen about 18 times well writing this, but I have not frozen once (hopefully I didn't just jinx myself).  I have gone from about one freeze every 10-15 minutes (sometimes worse), to about one every 1-3 hours.  Which, let's be honest is still a lot.
So, before I just decide to go and revert to Snow Leopard on my merry way, I ask, do any of you have any other ideas?  Or guarenteed fixes?  I know a guarentee is a hard thing to ask for, but I am desperate, my teachers are getting angry with me for not sending work, and I know this would help a lot of people.  Thank you to those who read through my whole spiel, and thank you to those who will help me!
[Ps, while I am somewhat of a noob, I know my way around a computer, so any help, or knowledge you could bestow upon me is awesome.  Especially DIY fixes.  (if your only advice is, don't buy a mac at Best Buy, don't bother commenting)]
    Macbook Pro
    15-inch, 2.53GHz, Mid 2009
Processor:  2.53 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
    Memory:  4 GB 1067 MHz DDR3
Graphics:  NVIDIA GeForce 9400M 256 MB
    Software:  Mac OS X Lion 10.7.2 (11C74)

Once it is downloaded you need to restart the computer if it does not restart automatically. When it next starts up you should note a progress bar appearing below the Apple logo. When done the computer will restart once more. The new firmware should now be installed.

  • OSX Lion 10.7.3 and Airport Utility 6 Installation Errors

I tried to run a Software Update and install the latest upgrades but the installation fails for both Airport Utility 6 and OSX Lion 10.7.3 updates. Each time, the update is downloaded succesfully then after the installer runs for a while an error pops up on the screen saying something like "Error: A number of files could not be installed" and all you can do is "ok" it. Nothing gets installed. When downloading JUST Airport Utility 6 from the Apple website to attempt a manual install, I get the following error:
I've tried running Fix Disk Permissions on the drive, and even Rpair Disk, but found no errors of any kind on the disk. My disk has over 300GB of available space. The Mac is a 2011 MacBook Pro 2.3Ghz with 4G RAM, currently running 10.7.2.
I've never had ewrrors with an Apple Software Update before, so this is very strange...
Apple, can you please help, or let us know if there will be a fix forthcoming?

Examination of the system log shows the following error exactly when the update fails:
xpchelper[1030]: could not open dyld map file: (null)
Installer[1166]: The Installer encountered an error that caused the installation to fail. Contact the software manufacturer for assistance.
