Installation of 11.1.0.5.10 Beta Blows Away SQL PLUS In Other Home

I had a working 10g R2 client installed and working. Installed 11.1.0.5.10 Beta into a new home. Attempted to run install scripts and determined that SQLPLUS no longer works in the 10g R2 client home. Any ideas? Should I have installed 11.1.0..5.10 beta into the exsiting home?
Tom

You may copy the sqlnet.ora and tnsnames.ora two files from your working 10gR2 home (under 10gR2 home's Network\Admin directory) to 11.1.0.5.10 Beta home (under 11.1.0.5.10 Beta home's Network\Admin directory).
Two possibilities:
1. use <10gR2 full path>\sqlplus.exe to run the ASP.NET scripts.
2. if you have ODT installation, you may use it's "Query Window"or "Run SQL*Plus Script" (under Tools menu) to run the ASP.NET scripts

  • First Login to Oracle 9i Personal SQL Plus after installation

    I downloaded the Opacle 9i for Windows NT/2000/XP,3 ZIP
    fiels andI extracted them into 3 special folders disk1,
    disk2 and disk3 according the instructions.Also I
    installed the JRE which is required for that.After the
    installation of Oracle 9,when I wanted to use the SQL Plus
    I could not do it because I had no the first login User
    Name and Password.
    For example,in Oracle 7 Personal for Windows 95 and in
    Oracle 8i Personal for Windows 98,the first login User
    Name is "scott" and the Password is "tiger".
    I shall be great thankfull to you if you will let me know
    how to perform the first login to the SQL Plus of Oracle
    9i (User Name and Password).
    With Great Respect
    Menahem Sharon

    in oracle9i all default users account are lock by default. so if you want to connect
    first when you open sqlplus in user name type "/nolog"
    sqlplus will open with no connection then issue the command.
    conn / as sysdba
    alter user scott account unlock;
    conn scott/tiger
    that is the procedure

  • Installation 9i lite / try to open SQL plus in Win XP

    Good day,
    I install Oracle 9i lite on my pers computer and want to open SQL Plus but ask me for a User Name, Password and Host String.
    I tried them all, system/manager, scott/tiger, name it. Is there any doc in plain english or french on installation, configuration so I can use SQL Plus on my pers computer with win XP.
    Thanks
    Martin

    9i LITE (so far as I know) does not support SQL*PLUS. If you need SQL*PLUS install Personal Oracle instead.
    9i LITE is a light-weight database and supports ODBC, JDBC, and a command line interface "msql". SQL*PLUS is not included. Open a DOS window and enter
    msql system/manager@POLite
    this works IF you installed the development SDK stuff (see your ODBC DSNs and look for a new DSN called POLite).
    If you don't have the DSN POLite, then you don't yet have a database created for msql to access. See the manuals on how to create the database in Oracle Lite.

  • SQL Plus Installation

    Trying to install the SQL Plus 10g. After completion, could not login. I un-installed (I thought) it through Vista control panel. Now want to re-install, ran the IOU. In the Selection Installation Method window, selected Basic, typed the password and confirmed, click next. On Product Specific Prerequisite Check window, click next
    I'm getting a message, "The SID you have specified already exists on the machine, please specify a different SID."
    How do I specify a different SID and complete the re-installation process? Thanks for helping. John

    Edited by: 804479 on Oct 22, 2010 1:52 PMThere are so many things wrong with this I hardly know where to begin.
    First, before we even get to the issue at hand .. when you you respond to someone's post by editing your original, it is next to impossible for people who come along later (like me, right now) to make any sense of where the discussion stands. Keep the conversation moving forward with new messages. Once a message is responded to, do not go back and edit it. Also, when responding to a message, it is best to quote a least the significant part to which you are responding. This also helps other to know exactly what your response is addressing.
    Now, as far as your installation problem ... did you actually read the installation guide?
    As pointed out, sqlplus is not a stand-alone installation. It is simply a command line interpreter (CLI) that is part of the oracle client bundle. you get it by installing either the client or the database (which installs the client as well).
    Second, oracle 10 is not certified on Vista. And while you don't mention the version of Vista, it's worth pointing out that NO oracle product is certified on ANY home version of ANY Windows OS.
    I don't understand how you could event think you un-installed it through Vista control panel. That's not how oracle installations work, and I don't think it would even show up there to attempt to uninstall it that way.
    The error message you got concerning the sid indicates your first installation probably went OK, and you installed the db server software and created database.
    So at that point you couldn't log on so decided to un-install and reinstall. That's like tearing down your house and rebuilding it just because you couldn't find the door key. If you had stopped right there and asked for help it would have been relatively easy to work through the problem. Now it's anyone's guess as to exactly what you have.
    It is possible - quite easy actually, but not for the faint of heart - to rip oracle out by the roots on a windows system. It involves stopping any oracle related services, deleting a key from the registry, and deleting two directories from the disk. That would let you get a clean start and is sometimes necessary when dealing with a completely broken installation. But why don't we try to fix what we have before we go there.
    You must tell us the following:
    EXACTLY what version AND edition of Windows you are installing this on.
    Exactly how you attempted to install. What file did you execute? What choices were you presented with and what choices did you make?
    Do you have any oracle related services running - see the Services control panel. All oracle related services begin with "ora".
    And remember, "doesn't work" is not a valid error code or message.

    any ideas?

    The TNS-12154 (ORA-12154) error appears when SQL*Net cannot find the alias specified for a connection in the TNSNAMES.ORA file or other naming adapter.
    Since we can clearly see the XE entry in your TNSNAMES.ORA file from your further post, the message implies that you are not using the TNSNAMES.ORA that contains the entry, or something is changing the lookup so the entry is not found.
    Using a different TNSNAMES.ORA can occur under the following situations:
    1) You have a TNS_ADMIN environment variable or registry entry that points somewhere other than this TNSNAMES.ORA
    2) You are on Windows NT and are using a SQLPLus that is in a different ORACLE_HOME. The WIndows environment forces the use of the networking subsystem in the ORACLE_HOME as the client program (such as SQLPLUS), which defaults to the TNSNAMES.ORA in the home as the client.
    Things I would check:
    - is there another TNSNAMES.ORA anywhere on the system
    - is there a system environment variable called TNS_ADMIN, or is that string found in the registry
    - is there possibly a second SQLPlus.exe (even on a networked drive) that migt be called before the XE - supplied SQLPLUS
    It is also possible to have a SQLNET.ORA impacting the way TNSNAMES.ORA is used. If all else checks out, we should look at the %ORACLE_HOME%\network\admin\sqlnet.ora in detail as well.
    By the way, the Oracle Network Administration docco has two whole chapters devoted to troubleshooting networking issues, from initial config through data errors in the various config files. If you want to track it faster, check out http://download-east.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/network.102/b14212/troublestng.htm

  • OracleXE Windows installation failure (SQL Plus failure)

    winXP pro SP2 AMD Athlon, Oracle 10 g express edition: OracleXE.exe product version 10.2
    1. I have just downloaded OracleXE

    Creating database step 1 of 5 starts and then:
    a 'report error to microsoft' window is opened, saying
    Oracle SQL*Plus has encountered a problem an needs to close ....blah, blah..
    After closing this window Install Shield reports successful installation and when I try to launch the installed application (pressing Finish button),
    it does not work (I did expect this after sqlPlus failure)...

    There several logs in the oracleXE directory tree, can you advise me which could be of any relevance? (css.log, ....\database\sqlnet.log, ....\network\sql.log, listener.log, oradim.log, XE.bat.log)
    I also discovered, that the installation works on another similar machine (I had to start a service manually after processor usage jumped to 100%), but on that machine an oracle client was installed previously.
    On the machine where installation is causing problems, no oracle product has been installed previously !
    Also - Regional settings for this machine are not English(US)

  • SQL Program better than SQL*Plus

    Hello
    Do you know any program better than SQL*Plus for Oracle Database?
    I also know TOAD and SQL Navigator, is there any other
    If yes where can I download it ?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Kurt.
    RoboSource Control to my knowledge hasn't been developed in recent releases. It is essentially the same product that existed years ago. It works, but does not have a lot of users. Most people, including myself, prefer to use third party products such as Perforce, SVN.
    As RoboSource Control is an old product and isn't widely used, I doubt whether anyone has tried using it on SQL Server Express 2012. That is not to say it won't work on it though.

  • How to recover old OS X installation on the ssd after installing a beta OS X on a usb thumb drive?

    I just installed the brand new OS X 10.10 Yosemite beta 2 on a USB thumb drive.
    It almost works.
    Now I want to boot my good old OS X 10.9 Mavericks from the SSD.
    But there is no option for that, if I reboot the macbook holding the opt key!
    I see only "Install OS", "Recover 10.9" and "OS X Yosemite", if I plug in the thumb drive.
    But if I boot the  OS X 10.10 beta 2 from the thumb drive, I can browser my SSD "Macintosh HD", see all the folders and files, it's still there!
    If I choose "Recover 10.9", it says, I can re-install the OS X or recover my Mac from the time machine or ask for help online, what I'm actually doing.
    How can I make the SSD bootable again, without re-installing the OS X and losing my data? Yes, there is still an option to restore from the time machine, but it's too long, I need my computer now.
    It's a rMBP 15" early 2013.
    Thanks

    Found it: in the disk utility menu select start volume.
    Thanks.

  • Upgrade OM 2012 to SP1 Beta - Version of SQL Server for the Operational Database and the Data Warehouse

    Hello,
    When I try to verify the prerequisites to upgrade my SCOM 2012 UR2 Platform to SP1 Beta, I have these errors :
    The installed version of SQL Server is not supported for the operational database.
    The installed version of SQL Server is not supported for the data warehouse.
    But when I execute this query Select @@version on my MSSQL Instance, the result is :
    Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 (SP1) - 10.50.2500.0 (X64)   Jun 17 2011 00:54:03   Copyright (c) Microsoft Corporation  Standard Edition (64-bit) on Windows NT 6.1 <X64> (Build 7600: ) (Hypervisor)
    But
    here, we can see that :
    Microsoft SQL Server: SQL Server SQL 2008 R2 SP1, SQL Server 2008 R2 SP2, SQL Server 2012, SQL Server 2012 SP1, are supported.
    Do I need to pach my MSSQL Server with a specific cumulative update package ?
    Thanks.

    These are the requirements for your SQL:
    SQL Server 2008 and SQL Server 2012 are available in both Standard and Enterprise editions. Operations Manager will function with both editions.
    Operations Manager does not support hosting its databases or SQL Server Reporting Services on a 32-bit edition of SQL Server.
    Using a different version of SQL Server for different Operations Manager features is not supported. The same version should be used for all features.
    SQL Server collation settings for all databases must be one of the following: SQL_Latin1_General_CP1_CI_AS, French_CI_AS, Cyrillic_General_CI_AS, Chinese_PRC_CI_AS, Japanese_CI_AS, Traditional_Spanish_CI_AS, or Latin1_General_CI_AS.  No other collation
    settings are supported.
    The SQL Server Agent service must be started, and the startup type must be set to automatic.
    Side-by-side installation of System Center Operations Manager 2007 R2 reporting and System Center 2012 Service Pack 1 (SP1), Operations Manager reporting on the same server is not supported.
    The db_owner role for the operational database must be a domain account. If you set the SQL Server Authentication to Mixed mode, and then try to add a local SQL Server login on the operational database, the Data Access service will not be able to start.
    For information about how to resolve the issue, see
    System Center Data Access Service Start Up Failure Due to SQL Configuration Change
    If you plan to use the Network Monitoring features of System Center 2012 – Operations Manager, you should move the tempdb database to a separate disk that has multiple spindles. For more information, see
    tempdb Database.
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj656654.aspx#BKMK_RBF_OperationsDatabase
    Check the SQL server agent service and see whether it is set to automatic AND started. This got me confused at my first SP1 install as well. This is not done by default...
    It's doing common things uncommonly well that brings succes.

  • If I install Beta 4 will it remove my other Version?

    I want to test beta 4 but am afraid it will overwrite my exsiting 3.6.13 version.
    Thanks Lisa

    By default Firefox 4 beta installs in a different location than the release version of Firefox, so you will have both versions installed.
    If you want to have both versions, you should create a new profile folder (location where user data is stored) for Firefox 4, then make sure that each version opens the correct profile. You should not use the same profile folder if you switch between different versions of Firefox. For details on how to do that see these links:

  • Execution/ better performace on sql  or  java)

    hi experts,
    i would like to began a topic on better performance or best pratice adf using sql or java codes.
    basically am from Oracle forms - pl/sql background. well i knew about java and i have some awareness on Exception(my code maynt be consistent somtimes(run time) or or in other words sometimes ran into run time exceptions based on the user entries).
    say as example: consider this scenario.
    i had input lov named as employee, if the entered data is not avaiable i would throw an entered employee is not found.
    basically i would like to follow this method.
    method 1:
    vo query :
    Select * From sometable
    Where Btx = :px1 And
    :px2 Between Btbx And Btbxo And Btb_x=:pxamimpl.code
    public void Validatex(String px ,String px1, oracle.jbo.domain.Date px2 ) {
           someVOImpl vo1 = (someVOImpl)this.getsomeRequest1();
            Row r = vo1.getCurrentRow();
            String Schx = (String)r.getAttribute("Btrxxx");
              if(Schxx.equals("somevalue"))
                xffVOImpl vo2 = (xffVOImpl)this.getxkEff1();
                vo2.setNamedWhereClauseParam("px", px.toString());
                vo2.setNamedWhereClauseParam("px1", px1.toString());
                vo2.setNamedWhereClauseParam("px2", px2);
                vo2.executeQuery();
                 if(vo2.getEstimatedRowCount() == 0)
                   throw new JboException("xxx Not Found");
           if(Scheme.equalsIgnoreCase("somevalue"))
            xxffVOImpl vo = (xxxffVOImpl)this.getxxkEff1();
            vo.setNamedWhereClauseParam("px", px);
            vo.setNamedWhereClauseParam("px1", px1);
            vo.setNamedWhereClauseParam("px2", px2);
            vo.executeQuery();
             if(vo.getEstimatedRowCount() == 0)
                throw new JboException("xxx Not Found");
           }this will exposed as method called in when valuechange listeners. it's work fine.
    my question is :
    if i wrote same thing in java like this. i think it take some more time than above methods sometimes exceptions comes out.
    public void Validatex(String px ,String px1, oracle.jbo.domain.Date px2 ) {
    some vos... as like same of which i mentioned above
    using iterator iterate each and every row.
    try{
    for (.......)
    if(...)
    else
    } } catch()
    }which would be best practice.? i hope that iterating each and every row taking little bit amount of time.
    but i feel that method1 without any exception and smarter time produce result.
    so people suggest me ? where am which would be better approach.
    thanks&&REgards

                s.printStackTrace();
                return null;
            } finally {
                if (st != null)
                    try {
                        st.close();
                    } catch (SQLException s2) {
        }The main code is
                Long start = System.currentTimeMillis();
                cs.execute();
                Long end = System.currentTimeMillis();
                logger.info("time taken to execute " + stmt + " : " + (end - start) + " ms.");In fact i say that every body should use this approach while executing any procedure or function as it helps us to track which part of application is running slow..
    Hope this helps !!!

  • CC installer says I have Muse, but I threw it away

    I downloaded Muse when I subscribed to Creative Cloud, back in CS6 days. I saw there's a Muse CC, but I think Muse is on some other upgrade scheme than the rest of the Creative Suite. Still, I wanted to make sure I got the upgrade. So I threw away my copy of Muse CS6 (if there even is such a thing) to get a fresh download. But the download manager doesn't recognize its absence, and still says it's updated. What do I do now?
    I am on a Mac running Mountain Lion. Creative Suite app 2.0.0.183.

    Yes Rick please try running the uninstaller located in the Applications/Utilities/Adobe Installers folder.  If you continue to face difficulties please run all available uninstallers followed by using the CS Cleaner Tool.  You can find details on the use of the CS Cleaner Tool at CS Cleaner Tool for installation problems | CCM, CS6, CS5.5, CS5, CS4, CS3 - http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/cs5-cleaner-tool-installation-problems.html.
