Installation of 11g

Hi,
I m going to install 11g 64bt on windows server 2003 version 1.I tried to download 11.1.0.7 from the link http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/database/enterprise-edition/downloads/index.html.But the 11.1.0.7 was available for only windows server 2008.I saw 11.1.0.6 for windows but the version(2000/2003/2005) was not mentioned.
Can i install 11.1.0.7 on windows 2003??Or install 11.1.0.6 ??
Then how to upgrate 11.1.0.7??
Regards....

11.1.0.7 is a patch that you apply on top of a 11.1.0.6 install.
11.1.0.6 and 11.1.0.7 are certified on Win 2003 - http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B28359_01/install.111/b32006/reqs.htm#CHDHGGFE
You will need to download 11.1.0.6 from http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/database/enterprise-edition/downloads/111060-win64soft-099656.html
Installation Guide is at http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B28359_01/install.111/b32006/toc.htm
Once you have installed 11.1.0.6, you will need to download the 11.1.0.7 patch from My Oracle Support (https://support.oracle.com) and follow the steps in the README of the patch. Access to MOS requires a valid Customer Support Identifier, which is given when you purchase support from Oracle.

    Hi Friends,
    OS = Windows XP 3
    Database = Oracle 11g R2 32 bit
    Processor= intel p4 2.86 Ghz
    Ram = 2 gb
    Virtual memory = 4gb
    I was able to install the oracle 11g successfully, but during installation at the time of database creation I got the following error many times and I ignored it many times... but at 55% finally My installation was hanged nothing was happening after it.....
    ORA-28056: Writing audit records to Windows Event Log failed Error  and at 55% my Installation got hung,,,, I end the installation and tried to create the database afterward by DBCA but same thing happened....
    Please some one help me out, as i need to install on the same machine .....
    Thanks and Regards

    Thanks Now I am able to Create a database , but with one error,
    When I created a database using DBCA, at the last stage I got this error,
    Database Configuration Assistant : Warning
    Enterprise Manager Configuration Failed due to the Following error Listener is not up or database service is not registered with it.  Start the listener & Registered database service & run EM Configuration Assistant again....
    But when I checked the listener was up.....
    Now what was the problem,  I am able to connect and work through sqlplus,
    But  I didnt got the link of EM and when try to create a new connection in sql developer it is giving error ( Status : failure - Test Failed the Network Adapter could not establish the connection )
    Thanks & Regards
    Creation of the dbcontrol requires a connection via the listener.  When configuring the dbcontrol as part of database creation, it appears that the dbcontrol creation step runs before the dynamic registration of the databsase with the listener is complete.  Now that the database itself is completed and enough time (really, just a minute or two) has passed to allow the instance to register, use dbca or emca to create the dbcontrol.
    Are you able to get a sqlplus connection via the listener (sqlplus scott/tiger@orcl)?  That needs to be the first order of business.

  • Installation of 11g SOA Suite

    Hello All,
    I have installed the
    ORacle 11g DB
    RCU to create schema
    Oracle 11g SOA suite
    Two Domains for BAM and SOA suite (without) selecting the Admin Option as referred in QUick install guide.
    I have query on these two weblogic domains as both of them have the same port 7001, how can I run both the domains ?
    Have you found the .xml files as mentioned in page no. 49. of the guide ?

    Hello Baskar,
    I did refer Quick installation while installing and followed the steps, hence created two domains with the understanding that BAM component probably needs a separate domain (BEA) as it could be bit heavy weight component.
    I believe if BAM, SOA and EM can run in a single domain, even now it is NOT too late, there is a option to configure domain and I will use the SOA domain create to check the BAM component also into it and start only this domain. But the quick installation guide seems to have a conflicting guidance steps.
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E12839_01/install.1111/e14318/qisoa.htm
    Refer the Installation Guide and the steps for configuring BAM and configuring SOA, they had been given in two step activity with different domains.

    It is too bad that you cannot read the Installation Guide, wherein is listed the versions of Linux that are certified for Oracle.  Sometimes it would be handy ... to find out that Oracle does not support their products on Ubuntu.

  • Grid Control installation for 11G: is 10g grid required ?

    Dear All,
    We are currently using the local dbconsole for the monitoring and doing administrative work on our 11g database. My limited experience and observation indicates that 11G does not have its own enterprise Grid control yet and it requires the older 10G grid control ? So if we deploy (albeit successfully 10G grid control), does the enterprise manager control tabs will be very different than the current dbconsole in 11G ?
    Thanks.

    Thanks.Upgrade Grid Control to 10.2.0.5. Grid Control is an independent product and will not follow the same numbering as Database and App Server/Fusion.
    It will provide a lot of extra pages and tabs anyway. And it will format and present the information for Oracle 11g properly to work in it's pages.
    Try it and see.
    and ask Grid Control questions in the Grid Control forum for better Grid Control answers.

  • Requeriments OS for installation Oracle 11g RAC  in Windows 2003

    I plan to install Oracle 11g Standard with RAC in Windows 2003 Server.
    I will use 2 nodes with the same OS.
    I will use a SAN with fibre channel, to store the DB.
    It is possible to install Oracle RAC in W2003 Standard ?
    I need obligatory W2003 Enterprise?
    The cluster of the 2 nodes is made by OS or by Oracle Clusterware?
    Thanks in advance.

    You can install on Windows 2003 Standard, it works with this OS. On the other hand the cluster is configured by the oracle clusterware. You need to make absolutely sure you are able to write from both nodes to the shared storage. Specific details on the regedit parameters you have to configure and specific OS issues are detailed at the above reference Werner posted.

  • Installation og 11g r2

    Hi
    In my server , already 10g r2 is installated , now am installaling 11r2, during this, at final stage while running root.sh , it will propmt to override 3 files, oraenv,dbhome .. etc under /usr/local/bin in solaris sys, as these files are already owned by 10g owner , can any one tell me what i have to select (y or n)?
    what if i select y? it will override three files
    what if i select n? default option
    Regards
    Raju

    The files are oraenv, coraenv and dbhome. Those are files used to set set/get the Oracle home environment. If you want to be sure not to mix them up between version 10g and 11g, simply install them somewhere else. When you run root.sh it will ask you where to put these files. By default it is /usr/local/bin. but you can type another directory, eg. /home/oracle_user1/bin and adjust the $path profile of that user accordingly.
