Installation of a card eSata

I have installed a eSata card, from Firmtek (2SE2E).
In fact, I have noted that the card operated on the slots 2 and 3 but not on the 4, probably because of a problem of speed? See text of Apple below.
Note:
To determine if your Power Mac G5 computer can accommodate PCI-X cards,
check the number of DIMM slots on the logic board. Computers with four DIMM
slots have
33 MHz PCI slots and cannot use PCI-X cards; computers with eight DIMM slots can
accommodate 100 and 133 MHz PCI-X cards. See the chart below.
Card type PCI slot Card speed
PCI* slots 2, 3, and 4 64-bit, 33 MHz
PCI-X slots 2 and 3 64-bit, 100 MHz
slot 4 64-bit, 133 MHz
*The PCI slots can accommodate mixed-voltage (5.0 V, 12 V, or 3.3 V) cards but only at 3.3 V signaling, with 32-bit or 64-bit data widths and a 33 MHz frequency. You can add
66 MHz card to a 33 MHz PCI slot if the card can operate at the lower 33 MHz rate.//
Astonishing that it functions on the slot 3 because the card has a speed of 33 and 66 Mhz, what is not noted in the descriptive of the card.
Howewer, when I extinguish the computer and that I relight it, the card is not recognized anymore, the system lost the driver. It is necessary that I reinstall it at every time. Apple Care was not able to answer me on this point.
From where can it come?

You can get more specific information and recommendations in the PowerMac G4 forums, but in essence, yes, if the card is properly Mac compatible, you install it in the appropriate slot in the same as was the case with earlier systems. You'll need to consult the card's documentation to find out if there are any special instructions - some cards require auxiliary power, for instance - or drivers that you have to install.
As to monitor sharing, many companies make KVM (keyboard, video, mouse) switches. Just do a web search for KVM and you'll find a plethora of recommendations. I had good results with Iogear's switches, but there are no doubt others that would work as well.

  • Step by step installation for java card kit 2.2.2

can anyone help me with a complete step by step installation information for java card kit 2.2.2, i already tried to follow the instruction given in the software i download n still stuck in setting the java path. any recommendation
    thanks for the help

The javacard API is for developing applets on card. Java 6 is for developing clients off-card.
yes u can use any java IDEs like netbeans or jcreator. But you will have to select the libraries within the downloaded java card kit folder for ur IDE in order to compile successfully.
try reading up the documentation and run the samples in the java card kit. thats a good place to start.

  • Compiled EXE and installer w/ DAQ card?

I created a specialized data logging VI and compiled the application.  I also created an installer so I could install it on another computer.  I included runtime and DaqMX w/ the installer.  When I installed it on the other computer, in MAX I can see the daq card, but in the program all the inputs from the card show up as zeros.  Is there something I'm doing wrong?  Should I be using MAX tasks and scales instead of project tasks and scales?

    Hi Zorro,
There should be no problem in using the tasks and scales that you originally saved in your project.  Do you have multiple DAQ boards in this system, such that the board you are intending to use now has a different device name in MAX?  For example, the card could now be displayed in MAX as Dev2 when you originally programmed it with a device name of Dev1.  Also, if you open up test panels within MAX for your device do you still get 0V readings on all of the input channels in question?

  • Not booting after installation PCI WLAN-card

    I own a HP Pavilion Elite m9351.nl.
Recently I replaced the pre-installed Windows Vista Home Premium by Windows 7 Ultimate.
Since then the internal WLAN-card does not wake up from standby. Also replacing the driver with the newest Ralink-driver does not solve this.
    Everything else works perfectly.
I removed the internal WLAN-card completely (including removing drivers) and replaced it by a PCI WLAN-card (D-link WMA-547). Now, the computer does not boot. The power supply, fans and lights all work, but the screen stays empty. Not even the HP-startup screen with boot options appears.
After removing the PCI WLAN-card everything works perfectly. When installing it again: nothing!
How do I install a WLAN-card and revive my computer?

I have the same question: suddenly my HP notebook (Win 7) will not boot up unless I turn off the WLAN.

  • Ok, so now I need a new eSATA PCI Express Card for my Mac Pro

I have a Seagate eSata External Drive which comes with an eSATA PCI card.
The http://www.cwol.com/serial-ata/esata-pci-express-1-ext-1-int.htm site recommends this card: eSATA PCI Express Card - 1 eSATA II and 1 Internal SATA II Port, but it doesn't specify whether it works on a Mac Pro - any suggestions?
Mac Pro Quad Core 2.66   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

    Hi
I think the Radeon 9800 is certainly the most powerful graphics card you could buy for your G4 and would do everything you need.
Just be aware there are at least 3 different Mac versions though.
There's a G5 version, the Radeon 9800 Pro Mac Special Edition, which is 8X AGP and has 256MB VRAM.
There's an older Radeon 9800 Pro Mac Edition, which is 2X/4X AGP and has 128MB VRAM.
Finally there's a newer Radeon 9800 Pro Mac Edition, which is 2X/4X AGP and has 256MB VRAM.
So long as you get one of the 2X/4X AGP versions, either with 128MB or 256MB VRAM, it should work fine.
It's perhaps also worthwhile mentioning they do require a separate internal power connection, although this can be taken from a hard drive molex power connector. Also they have a cooling fan which can be noisy.
    I hope this helps.

  • Airport card 1.2.1 does not work with Ibook G3 with OSx.4.2

I just purchased a brand new airport express base station. It seems to be up and running on my G4Imac just fine as a server.
    For the client,
I have an ibook G3 and now have OSX.3.4 on it.
I installed my ancient Airport card- 1.2.1 into the Ibook.
I installed the new software from the new Airport base station.
I tried to install the old software from the Airport 1.2.1 card but dont have Classic- so would not install.
Now, the Ibook does not allow me to choose Airport in the Network Preferences section- does not seem to recognize there is a card installed. So, no way to connect to the base station.
    My questions:
1.can OS X..3.4 recognize the old Airport 1.2.1?
    2. Does the software from the new base station support the old card when used in the client?
    3. Do I need different software for the card in the iBook other then the base station software? ie, is there card software that needs to be installed, and if so what is it in system X?
Im trying to figure out if I have a hardward problem- ie the card or slot is not working- or s software problem.
    Can anyone help?

MacOS 10.3.x has all the software to use an Airport card already installed. All I would recommend you do is install the Airport 4.1 update provided at:
    http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/airport41formacosx.html
The software that ships on the CD that came with the Airport Express is only used to configure an Airport Express. It doesn't provide any software updates for the MacOS itself, nor for the Airport card installed in that Mac.
First thing I suggest you do - run the System Profiler utility on your Mac. See if it identifies that an Airport card is installed. If it does not then recheck the installation of the card - ie pull out the card, then plug it in again and make sure it is fully seated into its socket. Remember to also attach the antenna cable to the card. If the System Profiler still fails to "see" the installed Airport card, then the card itself is likely defective.
[Side note: Airport 1.2.1 was the version of the Airport software required to provide software support for the card in ancient MacOS versions. Airport 1.2.1 is not actually installed on the Airport card itself, so if you install an original Airport card into another Mac it makes no difference what Airport version was installed on the Mac the card was pulled from.]

  • Error Code 10 with GPIB PCI Card

PC used: Dell optiplex GX110, lastest Bios release, Windows 2000 SP4, GPIB Drivers version 2.2, Local Admin session.
After having install the driver (without the GPIB)and plug the card, this one is automaticaly recognised by the Os.
But, after the reboot (asked by the OS to validate the installation), the GPIB card appears, in the device manager, with an error code 10 (not started)....
I tried with two (new) differents GPIB PCI Card, two OS (First time with NT4.0 SP6 Drivers 1.7 and now, Win2000 SP4 Drivers 2.2) and with two PCs Dell Optiplex GX110 !
I even tried with a "Ghost" from an other PC (also an Optiplex GX110, with the same model of GPIB Card)
-> I obtain the same error each time !
    Help me please..........

    Hello,
Could you give me the exact reference of the board (PCI-GPIB, PCI-GPIB+, AT-GPIB, AT/GPIB-TNT...)?
Is the error code displayed on the Windows device manager (in the properties dialog box of the device)?
What is the exact description of the error code?
A PCI-GPIB installation do not need to reboot the OS if the NI-488.2 driver is correctly installed. The board should be recognized in MAX and you must be able to scan for instruments and start I/O communication with the device from test panels in MAX.
Update me as soon as you receive another feedback.
    Regards.

  • What is "Disk 2" for in the packaging for Premiere Elements 9? Content or installation need?

I just got the Premiere Elements 9 yesterday and used "Disk 1" for the installation.  There is NOTHING that I found in the packaging materials to explain what "Disk 2" is used for.  Is it needed for further installation?  Content?  I hesitate to just put it in the DVD tray without knowing what it is to be used for.  I did download the full templates content last night (4 1/2 hours for nearly 5GB of a file).  Thanks for any information anyone can provide me.

    Bill,
Thank you for your comments!  I figured that maybe, possibly someone in the
Adobe higher up level might monitor the forums, see my posting(s) and see my
point.  A few years ago I had gotten the second or third generation of
Premiere and Photoshop Elements and have had them on my main computer.
    Still do.
I just got a laptop and earlier this spring I got a Flip HD Slide camcorder,
but trying to convert those videos to burn on DVD has proven to be a pain.
I only found one or two software packages that could convert the MPG4
formats, and they take forever to format.  So I thought that I'd get PE9
since I'd read that it had Flip video compatibility.  It did a good job
yesterday doing what I wanted it to do in burning a DVD.
I'm old school on labeling the installation disks.  Like you said, years ago
Adobe (and other software companies, for that matter) had pretty good
installation and reference cards for use.  I just wasn't quite sure what to
do with Disk 2.  I got on the Live Chat yesterday morning with a ViJay Kanna
and all he could come up with was to contact tech support.  So I called that
800 number and got the message that it would be $39.95 for them to answer
    questions.
I decided that I'd better find a better way, so I hung up and found the PE9
forum.  Posted my question and had a response in just a matter of minutes.
I'll certainly be checking in on the forums!  It is nice when other
contributors actually provide good, solid information, advice, and support
    for each other!
I just got back from our town square, using my Flip camcorder to get some
shots of Santa arriving with his police escort to visit with some Fairfield
children before heading off on his rounds.  I'm looking forward now to see
what I can put together on PE9!
Have a great holiday and thank you for your support and thoughts.  They are
much appreciated.  Maybe someone at Adobe will change their disk labels
after all! That is one of my 'wishes' for Santa!
    Sincerely,
    Richard K Thompson

  • Windows XP SP3 Freezes After Installation of Nvidia Quadro FX3000

Greetings to all!  I have an older Dell running Windows XP SP3.  It had an Nvidia Quadro FX1000 which began going bad and I replaced with a Quadro FX3000 model.  The drivers I downloaded from Nvidia's web site were the most recent qualified
drivers (yep, they were old, but still the correct drivers).  After of the installation of the card and the drivers Windows boots normally to the logon screen.  After typing in my password Windows tells me its loading my personal settings, then freezes
with no further activity.  I'm unable to use the mouse at that point and can't shut down gracefully.
I can boot successfully into Windows via Safe Mode and log on using my password.  However, the system always hangs after logging on when I just boot straight into Windows without using safe mode.
Can anyone weigh in with a possible reason for this to occur.  It's driving me crazy.  I'm sure the answer is right in front of me, I'm just not seeing it.
    Thanks in advance!

    Hi!
I know its almost a month since you posted, but I would boot in to safe mode, remove the display drivers and install an older version of the driver. For instance the driver that was released before the latest one.
This has done the trick for me a few times with other hardware!
    Best regards

  • 3D capable graphic card for my G4

    Hello,
I'd like to installe a graphics card (3D capable with 32MB of VRAM) onto my G4 500 DP, so I can use Google Earth in full 3D. Can anyone suggest me which card should I get for my G4?
    Any suggestions greatly appreciated.
    ss

    Hi,
Any Mac Edition video card with 32MB of video RAM will probably work because they have Quartz Extreme capability. However, the newer video cards ( with more video RAM) will work better. Most of these are on auction sites and are used. The only NEW video card available right now is the ATI 9800 Mac Edition. The ATI 9600 has difficulty in older G4's.
Question, what monitor do you have? This is important because if you have an ADC style monitor you'll have to be careful which video card you settle for. If your Mac Dual 500 is a Sawtooth, then ADC doesn't apply. If you are use a VGA/DVI style monitor, your options are better.
Let me know and I can give you some video card models to look for.
    Regards,
    Dave

  • Satelltie M40X: Lan card disappears from device manager

I have a Satellite M40X with Windows XP SP2 and my Lan Card (Realtek gigabit) is no longer seen by Windows (or Linux : test done with a Ubuntu live CD).
The lan card is not seen by Toshiba HW Setup either. I has disappeared 2 days ago, was back yesterday an d is not present today...
LAN card is activated in BIOS.
Can somebody help me to solve this issue ?
The PC is 13 months old (out of Toshiba guaranty....)

Either some registry keys are damage and therefore the LAN card is not visible in device manager (very impossible) or the LAN card is damage (more possible)
I think you should try to reinstall the OS. If after the new installation the LAN card is not visible in the device manager (as unknown device or as LAN card) so its a hardware malfunction and in my opinion only a replacement or reparation will help.

  • Driver alias changes during installation of Solaris

I have a HP LP1000r Netserver. It's a little 1u box with a hardware pci raid controller that is giving me some grief.
The card is a HP NetRaid-1M. This card is bascially an OEM version of the AMI MegaRaid 475(Express 500). AMI's raid cards were bought out by LSI who doesn't have Solaris drivers for this card.
There is a LSI MegaRaid driver disk for download from Sun but that seem to be just for new MegaRaid cards. Solaris has a AMI MegaRaid driver, "amr". Looking at the driver alias for the latest Solaris 10 x86 release the driver_alias does not contain the pci ids for my card.
The Solaris amr driver seems to be a port of the FreeBSD amr driver (http://blogs.sun.com/roller/page/JoeyGuo?entry=hello_there_welcome_here). The FreeBSD driver lists support for "AMI MegaRAID Express 500 (Series 475)".
So is there any way for me to tell the Solaris installation that my card should use the amr driver? I need to install to hard drives connected to this card.
Would support for this card have been stripped when it was ported from FreeBSD?
    Thanks,
    -Matt H.

I've installed FreeBSD on the system to verify that the HP NetRAID-1M is supported by the original amr driver, and it is.
At the grub menu I've tried to modify the kernel parameters when launching the install to:
    kernel /boot/multiboot kernel/unix -B install_media=cdrom,"target-driver-for-pci103c,60e7"=amr
I've also tried sd instead of amr. The quotes are because of the comma in the key name. I'm kinda guessing on the quote usage based on the info at the end of http://docs.sun.com/app/docs/doc/819-2379/6n4m1vldu?a=view.
I came across http://forum.sun.com/jive/thread.jspa?forumID=291&threadID=89269 which sounds like it might work for me but building an install server just to modify a driver alias for a single machine is just a little much.
If there is no way to just make Solaris see the card correctly during install, is there some way to make a driver disk that just adds extra alias and what ever else is need to make the existing driver work?

  • FW Express card

for some reason i can't post in the Mac book pro forum, but wondered if anyone was using or had a recommendation for a Firewire 800 Express card.
I have a WD 800 HD and Saffire pro 26 (fw400). I want to put my drive on a separate bus and get max speed. Anyone know if you actually get the full 800 speed using express card (another user posted a speed test with 56mbs instead of 80mbs when using express card)
    cheers
    JD

FWIW, For maximum HD speed, your best bet is to get an Express Card eSATA controller... and use an eSATA HD.
I'm doing this - note that under Leopard, there are some compatibility issues in the driver for the Sil3132 (the chip inside virtually all the current expresscard eSATA cards), that cause a variety of issues if you have an external HD that has multiple interfaces (ie, USB+eSATA, FW+eSATA etc).
On my WD MyBook drive, the disk hangs after half an hour or so, so I've moved this back to the FW port until these issues get resolved in the next driver version. My other audio drive is Ok on eSATA I think...
It is pleasantly faster than FW....
