Installation of a Dialog Instance (DI)

Hello,
I am currently installing a HA environment with an SAP ERP 6.0 SR3 System on Windows with MSSQL and MSCluster.
Everything went wll. I am using the SWPM 1.0. The system needs to be non-unicode.
I know that the newer installation are everytime Unicode. Regarding this, I have installed my First Cluster Node, Addition Cluster Node and Central instance as System copy. There, I could select, that I want to have non-unciode. These instances are all running fine.
The problem is now the dialog instance which I install on the second node. Everytime during the installation process, the SWPM is asking for a unicde kernel. I dont know why. Maybe someone from you could help here.

Unicode and Non-Unicode Support
Every new installation of an SAP system is Unicode.
If you install a dialog instance to an existing non-Unicode system (that has been upgraded to the current release), then the dialog instance is installed automatically as a non-Unicode instance. SAPinst determines if a non-Unicode system exists and chooses the right executables for the system type

New Dialog Instance Installation steps for Solaris

Hi Basis Gurus,
I have doubt regarding installation of a Dialog Instance.
we are having 3 application servers with one DBCI (ECC 6.0 / Oracle 10.2 / Solaris 10). all application server & DBCI are running in Solaris OS in seperate box, now i want install additional new dialog instance in separate server, all the files systems are mounted NTFS under /sapcd.
Please tell how can i start the installation ? which exe file i want to run ?
Please guide me in this regard.

SCM 2007 Dialog Instance Installation on MSCS

I have installed SCM 2007 server on MSCS. It is an ABAP stack unicode installation.
I have already fininshed with installations of ASCS, ERS, DB instance, CI as per the installation doc.
My system is up and running on one node. Now I am trying to install dialog instance on the second node. Input parameters,

Thanks for your time.
Since i am installing app server, the SAP<SID> group will have to be online on this node. There is another group containing shared drives for components for livecache. This is also required to be online on node 2 for app server installation.
The only cluster resource I can move back to node 1 is ORACLE<SID>. Tried doing that, but no luck.
Any one here facing similar issue during SCM dialog instance installation in MSCS environment?

Error installing Dialog Instance ABAP+JAVA

We're having a little issue with installation of a ERP dialog instance. The problem is, when the initial
installation was made, it was a system copy but not in the traditional way, the partner performed a copy
in OS level (cp -rp .... , etc). Once it was finished, renaming of certain this happended.
As we can see, DEV was the initial installation (normal way) but QAS and PRD were copies of DEV ( oracle
schema in PRD is SAPDEV too) this apparently doesn't cause a problem. But now the installer of a dialog
instance stops with this error:

Error while connecting to DB.
The error occurs when the installer tries to connect to oracle via jdbc, but the files
SecStore.properties and SecStore.key are from DEV, and they were created with the values of DEV, so when
the installer tries with PRD as central instance name, it doesn't work, how can we recreate this files or
reconfigure the j2ee engine so the installer can connect and finish installation ?

The same as configtool with PRD value.
So can we change the system.name value to PRD and is there a posibility to change the encpytion key so it can be used with PRD value ??
My theory is: The SecStore.key file is used to decript the SecStore.properties but the system.name value plays an important role in decryption, am I right??
Can I regenerate the key with the system.name = PRD so the error solves??

SM51 - no connect to dialog instance

Hi,
we have an Netweaver 7.0 on AIX ( DB2 on z/os ) installation with several dialog instances.
Now we installed an additional dialog instance on Linux ( SLES10 ) for this sap system.
1)
But in TAC SM51 we can see the newly installed sap system on Linux, but we cannot
"jump" to this dialoginstance from SM51.
2) We also have another problem with the shared /sapmnt/SID/global where the db2passwd - file
is located.
We get the Linux instance only running to the AIX CI, when we have an own "db2passwd" for linux und one
for AIX.
Any ideas for this behaviour ?

Problems in Dialog instance installation for ECC6.0(ABAP+JAVA)

Does anyone can help me what should be a procedure of installing Dialog instance for ECC 6.0 with both ABAP + Java Stacks.
When installing app server do we also choose ABAP and Java or just ABAP. Installation manual does not cover this and when we run the sapinst we have following problem:
The following are the activities that I have done as pre-reqs on the standby on the server that is to host dialog instance

Am I missing some pre-reqs or variable definitions?
I was going through the documentation and it says that /sapmnt/DSP/exe should be a local filesystem for a DI on a separate server. Will this create a problem ?
Also they talk about starting sapinst with the variable SAPINST_USE_HOSTNAME set to ddrsap02. I have tried this also
We are also not 100% sure about the settings for parameters:
rdisp/mssserv
rdisp/mssserv_internal
Accorss Devault Instance and Services Instance profile.
When we define it as per installation GUIDE (Abap+Java page 64) we get the popup message in SAPINST:

I am trying to install another application server(Dialog Instance) on
different host. My both System Central(main server) and Dialog system in
same domain. I am installing SAP Server as a Local Installation.
I am able to installed Dialog Instance on same Host of Central System. But
when I was trying to installation it on different Host, I got error on
u201CStart Dialog Instanceu201D step that is last step it cant able to start Dialog
Instance.
Can you please tell me the Prerequisite for this type of setup as well as
any other Setting related to u201Chostsu201D and u201Cservicesu201Dfile ? and also central system
side settings.

Hi, I'm Josephine and I almost have the same scenario as this problem reported earlier but it's just that we are using SAP Netweaver 04 SR1.
However, I'm installing additional SAP Application server to our existing one.
Our existing main server is in MS cluster. SAPPRD1 (DB Server in node A) and SAPPRD2 (SAP App Server in node B). System ID is PRD and the CI Instance number is 00. The hostname where the USR folder is SAPPRD (hostname in the cluster environment but this is the SAPPRD2 server in node B).
Now I'm installing additional SAP App server into a new host (SAPPRD3 & SAPPRD4) they are all in the same domain.
But I would like to install the 2nd and 3rd SAP App server in a local host.
While installing there was an error "Output: Service not started" the process "Create or reregister services" during the installation stopped.
I used the installer under the folder InstMaster\IM01_NT_I386\SAPINST\NT\I386\sapinst.exe and run the Dialog Instance under the SAP Netweaver\ABAP System\MS SQL Server\Unicode\.

Automatic shutdown of SAP Instance after installation of Dialog Instance

We've upgraded our system from SAP4.6C to ECC6.0 running on Win2003 64 bits Oracle 10g.
After upgrade, we installed Dialog instance (this dialog instance is running outside MS cluster) and it is running on Microsoft cluster. When we try to start up SAP dialog instance, the system is started but it automatically shuts down again.

Hi all again,
I had the same problem and found a solution for it.
I made two steps to start the dialog instance successful. First I modified the NLS_LANG setting in the registry and enviroment (only if necessary). Second, I fetched the last Oracle Instant Client OCL10264.sar from SAP Net and extract the file to E:\usr\sap\PDV\SYS\exe\nuc\NTAMD64 (This directory was created through the Installer. The Kernel lies under E:\usr\sap\PDV\D20\exe)
Now I changed the variable DIR_CLIENT_ORAHOME = $(DIR_EXECUTABLE) to
DIR_CLIENT_ORAHOME = E:\usr\sap\PDV\SYS\exe\nuc\NTAMD64 in the Instance Profile of the new Dialog Instance. So the Kernel knows that he has to use the Oracle Instance Client and the profilevariable says where he found it.
After these modifications the Dialog Instance starts with success.

SCM Dialog instance installation, post installation activity for livecache

Hi All,
We have installed SCM 7.0 Central instance with Livecache server. Now we have successfully installed additional application server (i.e. Dialog instance) for this SCM 7.0 system.
We need to know
After installation of SCM 7.0 Dialog instance what are the post installation activities?
How we should integrate the livecache server with the Dialog instance which is installed on different hardware.
We need to know how livecache server understand that the additonal application server ? Is there anything to do in LC10?

Thanks for your time.
Since i am installing app server, the SAP<SID> group will have to be online on this node. There is another group containing shared drives for components for livecache. This is also required to be online on node 2 for app server installation.
The only cluster resource I can move back to node 1 is ORACLE<SID>. Tried doing that, but no luck.
Any one here facing similar issue during SCM dialog instance installation in MSCS environment?

While trying to install a DI I am getting the following error:

You need a newer message server..). You may now

choose View Log to get more information about the error.
stop the task and continue with it later.
Log files are written to C:\Program Files/sapinst_instdir/CRM05/LM/AS/MSS/DI.

Hi,
Interestingly enough the installation went through by restoring the original kernel files, i.e. kernel fils as soon as the CI installation was completed.
I have upgraded kernel on CI now and am facing another issue of "Dialong Queue info Unavailable".
Not sure if I should open up a new thread for it.
Please let me know your views/ideas on the above.

Dialog Instance Installation - Error while connecting to DB

Hi All,
We have installed a WAS 640 SP15 and successfully running a Portal EP6.0 (SP15) on the same. Now, we wish to install a dialog instance on the same for load balancing the Portal on the same Hardware/Server.
During the DI installation in the phase "Configuring J2EE Engine", the installation fails with the error "Error while connecting to DB".
I tried to restart the installation by replacing the JDBC and OS_LIB of the new instance with the JDBC and OS_LIB of the already running CI instance but it didnt help either.
Any pointers in this direction will be appreciated.

We have the same issue. We have a NW04 SP19 J2EE standalone WAS and are using the SP19 SAPINST to add a second dialog instance on the same host as the central instance.
We restarted the Oracle listener ... to no avail

"The SAPCID_02 service on Local computer Started and then stopped. Some Services stop automatoically,if they have no work to do, for example , the performane logs and Alert service"

From windows machine we can access the Dilaog instance profile.
Path to executable in SAPCID_02 service is "D:\usr\sap\CID\D02\exe\sapstartsrv.exe" pf="

Dialog instance Installation

Hi,
At the time of SAP installation of Dialog instance at 1st step choose
service
after selecting option second, when we continue with it we are getting
following error.

Then you use the Local or Domain installation ? I'm think second ...
First of all do not use <sapsid>adm for the installation,
second, if you use domain installation :
you need read the instguide more clearly :
Required User Authorization for the Installation
Domain Installation
and the
Performing a Domain Installation without being a Domain Administrator
try to read in installation guide.

Dialog instance installation on AIX

Hi,
I am palnning to install Dialog instance of ECC5.0 with oracle database on AIX5.3
OS.
I am having some queries.
1: what file system is requied for dialog instance on AIX ( both for oracle and application)
2: whether /sapmnt and /usr/sap/trans I have to make as NFS or not.
3: whether oracle client installation it will ask in between of dialog installation if not then when it will ask.
4: What about oracle patch installation.
Please reply its urgent.

Only 3 Mounts you require ( assuming local Kernel Upgrade)

02. Please check 1st Point answer
03. NW2004s demands for Oracle Client installation cd. check in NW2004.
04. Patch is for Oracle Server ( not for client)
