Installation of CS5 on a computer without a CD ROM drive

I have the CS5 installation CDs and CS5 installed on a Desktop. I want to install CS5 onto a computer that doesn't have a CD Rom drive. Is this possible? and if so, is there a link to instructions on how to perform this task?

Hi there
This forum is for the Adobe Captivate application. CS5 is a different animal. I started to move this thread to a more appropriate forum, but it isn't clear to me where it should be.
One way you might try to work past things would be to use a different computer to copy the files to a USB drive of some sort. Then try inserting the USB into the discless computer and installing from there.
If you want to try and find a different forum to post the issue in, click here
Cheers... Rick .

  • How to open a CS5 file on computer without photoshop?

I tried saving files as PDF and JPG but when I try to open the documents on a computer without photoshop (a windows version), they will not open. Isn't there some generic form of PDF or JPG files that can be opened on all computers?
I only see "save as Photoshop PDF" or "JPEG". Even the regular JPEG option still needs photoshop in order for it to open. Is there a plain PDF option?
Someone help please! Respond on here or <<private email is discouraged>>.

Edit: I tried saving files as PDF and JPG but when I try to open the documents on a computer without photoshop (a windows version)
Both PDF and JPG should meet those requirements anyway.
The PDF should be able to be opened with Acrobat Reader at the least (maybe you should check if it is the current version).
You could try using File > Save for Web & Devices to create a smaller JPG, though.

  • Trying to install adobe premier elements 12 on windows 8 computer. New computer doesnt have CD rom drive

    Hello,
I'm having a bit of a problem. A few months ago, I purchased Adobe Premiere and today i decided to get a new computer to help me edit videos faster. Now I'm trying to add the old software to my new computer so that I can use it. Unfortunately, the computer that I have now doesn't have a CD Rom drive and since they've already updated the software to the new elements 13, I cant seem to find the link to re-install Elements 12. I NEED HELP ASAP. My first real gig is tomorrow.   Thank you all for the help!

I am not sure where John is coming from on his replies on this.
If you purchased Premiere Elements 12 from Adobe direct as an online download purchase, then you go to the adobe web site (http://www.adobe.com)
sign in, put "My Orders" in the Search field, and then follow the "My Orders" link to your program order where you should find an opportunity to download new files.
Alternatively, you can go to the following web site, download and install the Premiere Elements 12 tryout, and insert your purchased serial number into those files during installation.
Adobe Photoshop Elements 12 Direct Download Links, Premiere too | ProDesignTools
You need to read and carry out carefully the Note: Very Important Instructions at that web site so that you do not run into Access Denied messages.
Please let us know if you OK with the above details. If not, please do not hesitate to ask for clarification.
    Thank you.

  • How do I download cs5 to my computer without the disc?

My hard drive on my Macbook pro crashed and I had to restore my whole system, resulting in the loss of photoshop. I lost my cs5 disc is missing and I need  to reinstall photoshop so I can finish a photoshoot to get back to my client this week.  is there a way I can get my serial number an download it again, or do I have to find the disc?

You should be able to sign in to Adobe.com with your Adobe Id and Password then use your account  MY Products and services link.  The web server should the retrieve you registered products and display a list of them.  Look for CS5 and click on that entry. The should retrive your serial numbed and display it.  You can Download CS5 from this link follow the download instructions to the letter. http://prodesigntools.com/all-adobe-cs5-direct-download-links.html

  • How to run java on computer without java from flash drive

Im running a chess club at school and the school computers, you aren't allowed to install on the hard drive.
Is there a way to put an ide and the java folder containing the jre and jdk on a flashdrive and run the ide and run programs solely from the lfashdrive?

Yes. put the JDK (not the separate JRE) on the flash drive. The JDK contains a JRE.
Plug the flashdrive into a computer you control. If that computer already has the desired JDK installed, copy the JDK directory (all of it) to the flash drive. Otherwise, do an install of the JDK to the flash drive.
To run Java application programs use a command that provides the full path to the java.exe program, for instance (in Windows)
    *<drive letter>:\<some directories>java <the name of your program>*
You could create a bat file to make this easier to type.
You can't run applets or anything else that depends on Registry entries.

  • Can Airport Extreme be used to back up my computer without an external hard drive?

I was recently told that I could back up my computer on an Airport Extreme with out an external hard drive.  Is this true?  My iMac is currently connected to an Airport Extreme that is also connected to an external hard drive.  It has been my understanding that an Airport Extreme is used to connect to WI-FI and to periferals such as a printer etc.  Am I confusing Airport Extreme, Airport Time Capsule and Time Machine?  Need help!

Am I confusing Airport Extreme, Airport Time Capsule and Time Machine?  Need help!
Just a bit. Both the AirPort Extreme and the Time Capsule are wireless routers provided by Apple. The main difference between them is that the Time Capsule has a built-in hard drive. Both routers also support attached USB hard drives.
Time Machine, on the other hand, is a software product that provides for a means to back up Mac computers. It can back up to hard drives attached to the Mac or located on the network. Time Machine can also back up to USB hard drives attached to the 6th generation AirPort Extreme and any generation of the Time Capsule. Finally, Time Machine can back up to the internal hard drive in a Time Capsule. Actually that is the primary reason for the Time Capsule ... although it can also use its internal drive for general storage as well.
Hopefully that help demystify things a bit.

Why on earth would you NOT get an optical drive for that thing !
I can anticipate that many critical applications would fail to be installed from a network share.
They would use the physical presence of their media to validate the install process.
... and then there are critical hardware driver software packages that might be necessary for your WinOS install.
Be that as it may ...
Have you read the system documentation?
It appears to be in there.

  • How do you install CS5 onto a new computer without Time Machine/file transfer

I'm not getting a new computer, but my current one is getting a little old (Macbook Pro V. 10.6.8) and I'm afraid it might crash if I download the newest Maverick system, which is why I want to make absolutely sure I'm able to save and transfer all my old files and CS5 Creative Suite programs if this indeed happens. I don't trust Time Machine to do it; my boss had this happen and Time Machine did not transfer the Adobe programs. I also don't want to rely on Time Machine and any other file transfer (which all new Macs offer) because I've had brand new computers crash because of old corrupt files from my old computer converting over, and the Apple people said it's a bad idea (which would have been nice to know BEFORE the computer crashed and everything. . .) I've been told you can only use the CD to install CS5 onto your computer twice, which I've already done (thanks to my brand new computer crashing once already). So I would like to know how it's possible to install the program onto a new computer should this one crash, without the use of file transfer or Time Machine. I have no interest in upgrading to CC.
    Thanks!

Avoid using Time Machine for re-installing Adobe software. It rarely works and usually breaks the activation mechanism.
I've been told you can only use the CD to install CS5 onto your computer twice,
    Not quite.
You can install the software as many times as you like but you can only activate the software for use on a maximum of two computers at the same time.
To re-install you will need your CS5 serial number.
Download the installer from Download CS5 products
Install then enter your serial number when prompted.

  • I had downloaded and used Final Cut Pro 7 (studio 3) on my mac, but it died. Can I download it to my new computer without buying a new copy? I'm not sure of the number of installations for academic copies. How would I do this?

    AH...good.
There is no limit on the times you can install it from the DVDs. There's just a limit as to being able to run it on multiple machines AT THE SAME TIME. If your old computer dies, or you sell it (please reformat the drive so they don't get FCP for free), then you can install on a new computer fine.  And you are allowed to install on (1) desktop and (1) laptop at the same time as well...but only use it on one machine at any given time. Meaning you can use it on the desktop at work, and then when away from the office, on your laptop.
Long story short...you can install it fine without any issues.

  • Installing Photoshop on second computer without original installation CD

I have been upgrading Photoshop on my desktop for years and have just ordered the CS5 upgrade. I now want to also install it on my laptop.  Can I do this with the upgrade CD?  I no longer have the original CD and I was using Windows 3.1 at the time anyway.
    Thank you!  Kathy Juron

Hi Kathy, you don't need a previous version installed on that second computer, but in order for the upgrade installation to work on new computer, you'll need the serial number of a prior version to enter at the time of the upgrade install...
It doesn't have to be the very original version you had, just a prior version (up to three versions back).  Each time you upgrade, you get/have a new serial key.

  • New Computer Windows 8 without CD Rom Drive, CS5 Extended Student and Teacher Download and Install

I have a new laptop with Windows 8, and like most new computers it does not have a CD Rom drive. I have deactivated CS5 Extended Student and Teacher Edition from my old computer (since I am only allowed one computer at a time) and would like to install and activate on my new machine. I am in possession of the original cd, product key and serial number, however the email that I originally used to get the serial number no longer exists. I have created a new Adobe ID with my new email address.
I read a forum that suggested that I download a trial, and then activate that trial with my serial number. I followed those steps with the closest version I could find, which was CS5, and though my computer said the files downloaded, nothing was installed... and I cant figure out how to install... and I am concerned that I dont have the same version in the trial as the CD that I own. Any advice would be greatly appreciated- most of the reason I wanted a faster computer was so I could run my photoshop on there!!!!

  • Downloading my CS5 to my new computer without a cd drive

I purchased a new computer - it has no CD drive - how do I get my CS5 on my new computer? The product shows up when I log in to adobe, but there are no options to download.

If you've got your serial number then you can download a trial version from

Ensure that you follow the Very Important Instructions on that page first otherwise the links will not work.
Enter your serial number when prompted by the trial to convert the trial to a fully licensed version.

  • My old computer crashed and i just purchased a new laptop. How do i get my library on my new computer without erasing all the songs on my ipod?

    ?

If ALL your music is on the iPod and it's ALL iTunes purchased content, you log into iTunes with your account on th enew machine and reverse sycn the music back.
If the music is from cd's and other sources (not iTunes files) then ask over at iLounge what third party solution currently works. (can't recommond it here)
I have some HUGE instructions here how to get your music off the old comptuer too:
    Recovery options:
    A: If Windows isn't booting:
You need to boot the computer from a "recovery disk or USB" that has a operating system on it and a graphical user interface to transfer files from your boot drive to a external drive.
I suggest using the Easy USB Installer to install Ubuntu 10.10 onto a 2-4 GB USB key.
    http://www.pendrivelinux.com/universal-usb-installer-easy-as-1-2-3/
    or
burn a ISO of Ubuntu 10.10 or PartedMagic to a cd-r with ImgBurn or Win 7 right click and burn
You can use Disk Utility in OS X to select the ISO and burn to cd/dvd as well.
Once you have it installed, consult this page for your BIOS boot key to hold to get into the BIOS.
    http://pcsupport.about.com/od/fixtheproblem/a/biosaccess_pc.htm
Plug the USB into the back (if possible) of the computer, connect the external drive and enter the BIOS, set the USB (or CD) as first boot and SAVE.
Boot off the USB/CD and "Try Ubuntu/Run from disk" DON'T INSTALL. (Parted Magic loads into RAM and ejects CD)
Once in, go under the menu Places > Computer and transfer your files to the external drive just like you would in Windows, drag and drop.
(If using Parted Magic double click on the Mount Drive left icon twice, use the two GUI windows to transfer files to external drive, unmount drives, log out/quit in the lower left corner menu option)
B: If the computer hardware isn't working, but the drive might still work:
You'll have to remove the power cord and manually extract the hard drive. This might result in some damage.
There is a powered IDE/SATA to USB adapter for sale online for $20 that you can take that internal hard drive and use it like a external drive to access your files from another Windows machine.
C: If your iTunes content is deleted...
It might be recoverable if it hasn't been overwritten yet by fresh data. Undelete software works by reading the 1's and 0's of the files themselves, not what the OS says.
You need to use undelete software pre-installed before the iTunes content was deleted, or while on a bootable cd/USB and a external drive to transfer the recovered files.
You can also install undelete type software on a new machine and USE STEP B above to "undelete" the files and recover them directly to the new computer.
You can't install undelete software or recover files to the same drive your attempting to recover from or it overwrites the deleted data.
D: If the hard drive doesn't work and...
The data isn't worth spending $2000-$3000 in a ATTEMPT at platter dissection recovery, then your finished
If the data on the drive was encrypted, data recovery efforts may be futile, unless it's a encypted file and you transfer it successfuly and have the password to de-crypt it.
E: If you have a "iDevice" with any content
It can be synced back into iTunes, check at iLounge what third party software works reliably now and for your version.
(Once you log into your iTunes account, you can sync ONLY iTunes purchased content back from a iDevice)
Third party software can recover just about all the items on a iDevice, regardless of it's origin. (can't recommend such software here)
F: If any of the above is too hard, or the data is of "critical importance"
Then seek professional computer or forensic level recovery services.
Get help from someone who has done this sort of thing repeatly and can almost guaranty 100% results.
There is Linux software that can "rip" all data off a iOS device if that level of attention is needed, seek a professional service.
Hope this helps in your data recovery efforts.
Please, backup your data, it's the only thing us IT professionals can't recover.
