Installation of EPM 11.1.2

Hi everyone!
I am having some troubles installing some applications of the EPM 11.1.2 media pack.
I am trying to install
-Oracle Shared Services 11.1.2
-Oracle Essbase 11.1.2
-Oracle Essbase Administration server 11.1.2
-Oracle Planning 11.1.2
on Windows Vista Business with Service Pack 2.
I got the Installer, the four Foundation, Additional Contents and the various applications files from e-delivery and oracle website.
The installation goes fine, the only problem seems to be a component named Oracle Http Server that cannot be installed. I don't know if it's critical, though.
When installation is concluded, configuration button is not working (as I red is happening to most of you), but the main problem is I don't have anything but WebLogic on Start menu. The installation folder has been created, there is plenty of stuff in it, and I can launch from there Essbase Studio. But I can't find under EPM/products/foundation any directory where to configure the apps.
Planning seems not to be working, I checked between Services and there is no Hyperion Service going on.
Also, I tried to follow John Goodwin's steps (http://john-goodwin.blogspot.com/2010/04/epm-1112-installation.html) during the installation, until our results diverged.
Does anyone know something about that?

Hi EPM 11.1.1.1.0 installer guys ,
First of all I would like to note that I have spanned a lot of hours during the last weeks in trying (and failing) a successful installation of EPM 11x.
I will not talk much about the first version - forgot about it.
However installing the latest version 11.1.1.1.0 can be (and in fact is) a challenge; especially for people who have never tried it before.
I do think it's fair to not tell you about all the trouble, wrong assumptions and frustration I had to walked through.
So simple let me rather know you about some pitfalls and how you can work around them.
Please note (that maybe important) that all things I'm talking about here are relating to the following prerequisites:
A) PC: WinXP, SP2, 4GB RAM, x.x MHz, dual core HT, Repository-DB Ora11gR1
B) VMWare: Win2003 Server, 4GB RAM, x.x MHz, dual core HT,Repository-DB Ora11gR1

<ol><li>Not all download files are included in the .1 -Version. For the HPS source for example you have to look into the download area of .0- version

<li>The uninstaller does not work properly. This is a known bug. So if you want to step back or repeat the installation from the same basis as before, or for any other reason if you want to get your system back in a clean pre-installation condition - take a backup of your entire system (snap shot, image or what ever). It's worth the effort!
</li>
<li>A installation of EPM and Ora11gR1 on the same hardware is possible but I would not recommend it.
</li>
<li>I had the effect that during the installation process and more during the configuration and deployment the Ora11gR1 consumed more then 50% of CPU and sometimes increases up to 100% whiteout any obviously reason. So during the entire EPM installation process when ever you don't need the DB alive shut it down and start it only when needed. If you are unsure about that rather let it be, however the installation will take (very) significant more time.

<li>I have found instructions in the web where a installation of the EPM Oracle-DB site components are described as the user SYSTEM. This is an absolutely no-go! NEVER do install anything into the SYSTEM-Schema of a Oracle-DB. Before you start the EPM installation process prepare your Oracle-Schema initially. You can find a sample DDL script at the end of my posting.

<li>It seems to be best to install and configure all needed components in one round. This is an important difference to the .0 version where you run in trouble when doing so. Since in version 0 exactly this caused an error. I tried to avoid this in version 1. But in version 1 you now run into trouble when you stripe the installation into two courses (one for Ssh only and the other for the rest). However, if you want (or have to) to split the installation into single tasks or if you want to install a component later on, you will run into the error that the OpenLDAP service disappears. First (during the x+1 installation) it is being set to "Disabled, and after the next reboot it is no longer there. You can reload it to the services with the following command, to be execute in the OpenLDAP directory (<drive>:\Hyperion\products\Foundation\openLDAP).
slapd.exe install OpenLDAP-slapd "Hyperion Foundation OpenLDAP"
When you are done with that check the services and manually set the start property to "Automatic" (if you want it starting automatically) . Please note that in version 1 you have to repeat this every time when you install an EPM-component.

<li>And yet, before you move your hands in order to start the installation - stop ! Take a breake and the time to read the manuals first.

Hi all,
After posting the stuff above I had to notice, that it seems to be impossible to make the Essbase Studio running with an Oracle DB back end. I have checked a lot of hints and variation in essbase.properties and server.properties under the Essbase Studio path.
There seems to be a serious problem during the connection process to the DB.
Via a logon trigger I was able to prove that a connection is established,
however every time there comes a error message saying that a table is not there.
If someone has the same problem, please post it too.
If someone was able to make it work - even better, please let me (and others) know how to make it right.

Error in Installation of EPM 11.1.1.3 in windows server 2003-32 bit, AMD 64

Hi All,,
We are trying to install EPM 11.1.1.3 ( We are trying to install only Client Components ) in server machine( Processor AMD64, OS: Windows Server 2003 32Bit) we are installing the JAVA 1.6 Also.But we double Click the InstallerTool.cmd it will open the command prompt and throws an error below and disappearing.

1. Did you delete tmp and cache after patching
2. Did you clear the cached files in your browser post patching
3. Generally the first time you access the system it takes time but the consquent attempts should not take much time.
4. Did you increase the Java heap

EPMA Server not starting for New Installation of EPM 11.1.2.2.0

Hi i am having problem of EPMA Server not getting started .... i installed many times and configured but problem still persists that's first time i am installing the EPM suite so plz bear me for any stupid questions.....
I am using :
Oracle Version: 11.2.0.1.0
EPM Version: 11.1.2.2.0
Note:
1. While installing Oracle Client i used first option to install "Oracle Instant Client " with minimum configuration.
2. While configuring Database in " EPM System Configurator" window...in Server name it was not taking exact server name instead was taking "localhost". So i used localhost...Can this be an issue?
In EPM Configuration I got message that "Oracle data access client not installed" is it related to EPM Server.
I am confused about installation is "ODAC" and "Oracle Data Access Client" are same or different. As i am not getting "Oracle Data Access Client" to download.
I just want " Essbase , Planning and Reporting Applications".
Please do help as i need to solve this problem urgently.

Is this a personal install of the EPM? If so you may need to install the MS Loopback adaptor for Oracle db first
For EPMA it may be easier just to install the full Oracle Client as it should work then.

Installation of EPM 11.1.1.3

Hi there,
I am new to all servers, clients and database world but do have a sufficient exposure to functional aspect of HFM as an accountant. I am interested in installing EPM 11.1.1.3 on my laptop and wonder any of our Gurus can guide me for the following queries:
1) Do I need to install a Server since there would be only one user? Can I install EPM in Windows XP environment?
2) Can I down load the Oracle 10.2g and configure it successfully by following "Oracle Database Quick Installation Guide"?
3) What is a minimum system requirement for all EPM products as I have 2GB RAM & HD 100GB?
4) After installing the EPM Installer, do I have to make any selection or changes while configuring EPM products?
5) I have read all documentations such as EPM_installation_start_herebut and Installtion & Configuration guide - I am confused!!
Please assist or guide me to right direction!

Oracle EPM 11.1.2.2 installer bug

Hello,
Anyone found a problem with the installer for EPM 11.1.2.2 where if you go back into installtool.cmd after an install and try to add another product. The new product gets installed but the inventory and Comps.xml files get corrupted and some already installed products seem to be removed.
We have hit this several times and are wondering if there is a patch.

Problems with EPM 11.1 installation

Hi,
I started the new installation of EPM 11.1 verion on my laptop with below products.
- shared services
- epm architect
- worksapce
- hfm
- reporting & analysis (financial reporting & web analysis)
I configured above components and see no major issues either from the EMP configurator panel or from logs. At the end of the process, I can log into shared services and workspace. However, from workspace, I cannot see HFM application from navigation as that in 9.3.1 version. I then tried to re-install those products and tried to configure a couple of times (actually more then 5 times). Even worse, cannot log into workspace (I encountered error msgs like auth_cssexception or gsm cannot acquire lsm).
FYI. Everytime I configured all components, I could successully log into shared services and see those products sitting under //project/foundation/shared services/epm system registry; however, in //project/foundation/shared services/registration, i have only shared service under applications folder and HUB-9.5.0 under products folder.
Is there anything I did wrong or I missed? Please help. Many thanks.

Hi, got the problem solved after running EPM system configuration as below suggestion from installation guide.
Can open HFM application from workspace now.
If you have already configured Oracle Enterprise Performance Management Workspace, Fusion
Edition and you deploy any additional products that are in EPM Workspace, you must run EPM
System Configurator again and select the EPM Workspace “Configure Web Server” task. In this
release, the following products and components are integrated in EPM Workspace:
● Reporting and Analysis
● Oracle Hyperion Planning, Fusion Edition
● Oracle Hyperion Financial Management, Fusion Edition
● Oracle Hyperion EPM Architect, Fusion Edition
● Oracle Hyperion Performance Scorecard, Fusion Edition

EPM 11.1.2.2 install on Windows 7 64 bit laptop?

Is it possible to have a working installation of EPM 11.1.2.x (Compact deployment ) on a Windows 7 64 bit laptop?
I cannot buy Windows 2008 Server R2 license for POC/learning instance. The trial version of it lasts only 6 months.

Yes, you can... There is one more options also there.....
Option 2:
If you using Windows 7 Professional environment means, please install the "Windows Virtual PC", by default it will comes with "Windows XP - 32 bit". On top of that, install the Hyperion 11.1.2.x 32 bit version and play.
Note : There is separate downloads available for "Windows virtual PC" for Windows 7 Home etc..

Recently, Oracle has released the OBIEE 11.1.1.7 SampleApp V305 - Linux Image. Download and Play...

EPM 11.1.2.1 Upgrade to the 11.1.2.3

I am new to the EPM systems migration (installed the fresh EPM 11.1.2.1 and 11.1.2.3) and we are planning to upgrade our existing environment from 11.1.2.1 to 11.1.2.3 and I am looking for the complete guide on how can I upgrade the environment. I searched for the tutorials but it's very confusing on the applying maintenance on the existing environment. Before I start I have created two sandbox (one for Foundation and one for Essbase) server to test the migration and successfully installed the EPM 11.1.2.1. I am going to configure the applications on these sandboxes and then test it. Once tested I am planning to do upgrade these sandboxes to 11.1.2.3 and will take the same steps to the existing production servers.
Any help will be highly appreciated.

Existent components disabled for maintenance, EPM 11.1.2.2 11.1.2.3

I'm trying to do a maintenance release installation of EPM 11.1.2.3 on top of 11.1.2.2 and am getting "ERROR: There are existent components that are disabled for maintenance install. Please, review the reasons why the components are disabled, resolve issues and retry maintenance install."
How do I tell which components are "disabled for maintenace"? Are they the ones that are checked but greyed out in the list of components to install in configurator?
The one document I found says that the components are missing in the download but I have downloaded and extracted the parts indicated in the README for Interactive Reporting,which is the only component we are using and are the same ones as for 11.1.2.2 release.
Could some one tell which logs would have information about this, if any?
This is on a Windows 2008 r2 server, with SQL Server 2005 repository database.

You could try downloading and extracting all the parts just to be sure you have all the required files.
There was a similar question which the poster said downloading and extracting the OHS file resolved the issue EPM 11.1.2.3 Upgrade Error: there are existent components that are disabled

I am upgrading my EPM 11.1.2.1 Planning system to 11.1.2.3 by following "Performing a Maintenance Release Installation for EPM System Products" section of "Installation and Configuration Guide". While configuring database for planning component, do we need to select "Perform first-time configuration of database" option? Please advise.

no, you must select the "" Connect to a previously configured database " while configuring each components of EPM.
and after selecting above option, if window pop up saying "database already exists" then choose option of "reuse the existing database "

Advantages of installing IOP & EPM in distributed environment

Hi,
What are advantages of installing IOP in distributed environment. I refered IOP installation guide and as per instructions, on 1 machine have IOP installation with Foundation service installed while on another machine install Foundation with HSS & other components configured. This is fine but again we need to copy IOP installation directory from IOP machine to EPM machine,in such case what is the advantage of having IOP on different machine.
Also when we update any settings in properties file like site.properties we need to copy this file to IOP installer on EPM machine which is very difficult to maintain from integrity perspective. In other way we end up having IOP installation on EPM machine.
Please let me know what are the advantages of installing IOP in distributed environment & what are the cases in which we should ask customer to go ahead with Distributed installation.

Advantages:
1.     Multiple users can be defined in the single HSS and can be shared by multiple iop instances hosted on same/different machines.
2.     All the IOP instances can run independently on their individual JVM
3.     The centralized EPM server can host services like HSS, OBIEE, Essbase etc.

I dint do any thing with ss registry. I was trying to register EAS, Provider Services and Essbase Studio with shared services. The error message was Failed to Register with Shared Services.
This is what i found in log:

EPM V10 issue : Install conflict between PCM 10 & BPC 10

Our team is working on a prototype of EPM 10 solution (BPC 10 & PCM 10). We have met 2 conflicts between BPC 10 and PCM 10 at client side (Excel & Internet Explorer):
1. There are 2 separate EPM Add-in for Microsoft Office (Excel). One for BPC and another for PCM. We should install EPM Add-in PCM at first, otherwise we can't install it after BPC. Obviously EPM Add-in for PCM is a previous version refering to that of BPC.
But after installation of EPM Add-in PCM then BPC, we lost the "Data Manager" tab in Excel ribbon.
2. After installation PCM 10, we canu2019t access BPC via Internet Explorer any more. IE shows u201CAdd-on can not work u2026u201D. But we can open BPC Web client via Chrome. Is there any conflict of the ActiveX between PCM & BPC for IE ?

Maybe I don't understand your description of the problem clearly, but I want to state that there is intended to be only 1 EPM 10.0 add-in for Excel which works with both BPC and PCM.
Also since both the products you mention are in Ramp-Up currently, feel free to reach out to your customers ramp-up coach(es) to assist further.

OEPM 11.1 Installation issue

Hi
I have installed OEPM 11.1 over essbase 9.3 it went on fine. But when i run system configurator to configure shared services it says "Shared services content not found in databse". Any idea guys? Plz help..

I don't know if this mith help or not, but i just encounter the same problem in a new installation of EPM 11. I had the configurator utility open and i went to create de SQL database i needed. When i tried to connect to the database the problem appeard, so i closed the configuration utility and reopened and everything worked.
