Installation of Flash Player 11.9 under OSX fails with case-sensitive filesystem!?

The installation  of flash player 11.9 aborts with an unspecified error. I running OSX 10.9 with an case-sensitive filesystem. Can anyone confirm there are problems with the installer on case-sensitive filesystems?

The problem isn't the filesystem per se. It's bad software quality if pathnames defined wrong or multiple times with different notation. Often there is only one or two letters with the wrong upper or lower case. I guess in the current Flash installer this is the case. With the previous versions I had no problems.

My Mini isn't case sensitive, so I can't really say but I had two iMacs when I worked at Intuit that were case sensitive and they had all kinds of software installation issues. One of the Mac developers at Mountain View told me that Case Sesnitive shouldn't be chosen as a format except when a system is isolated and used as a testing server. For a workstation or home computer, it's a terrible choice for a setup.

  • Installation of Preferences Pane on remote Server OSX fails

On an OSXServer mini which I connect to with RDC, I am unable to install any Preference Pane programs such as Slink or Squeeze.
    I have full admin access to that machine, it's a dedicated database server, nothing exotic running on it, latest OS10.6.4, but I get the message;
"You can't open the xxx Preferences Pane because it is not available to you at this time. To see this preference pane, you may need to connect a device to your computer."
There is no mouse or screen connected to this mini, RDC access only.
The PrefPane icons become visible but remain greyed out.
Remote Management is activated in the ServerAdmin.
A very similar configuration hosted elsewhere gives no problem. Same settings, same RDC access, same OS.
At this point I'm at a loss. Clues anyone?
    TIA,
    Peter

  • How Can I Get the FULL Installer for Flash Player 11.1.102.63?

When I try the "Download now" button at http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/, I only get a stub installer that then requires downloading the remainder of the installer.  I maintain both my own PC and my wife's PC.  I want to install Flash Player 11.1.102.63 twice but download it only once.
When I instead try the link for "Flash Player for other browsers" under "Windows 32-bit", I get the full installer for Flash Player 11.1.102.62, not the full installer for Flash Player 11.1.102.63.
The latest version of Adobe Reader is available via FTP at ftp.adobe.com.  Why cannot the latest version of Flash Player also be available there?

at http://forums.adobe.com/thread/889580 the link for downloading "flash player 10", "for other browsers", still results in the OLD version of FP 10 being downloaded, not the newly updated version, build 10.3.183.16..
in adobe's security bulletins, it says that you can download the updated versions of "flash player 10" on the "archives" webpage but there are no direct downloads for FP 10 on the webpage, except for downloading the zipped packages, with the "debuggers".. it would be good if there were direct downloads for the updated versions of FP 10..
also, when i go to the "download center" page, http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/?promoid=BUIGP , if i go there with "firefox 3.6", it recognizes that i am running "firefox 3.6" and offers to install "flash player 10.3", but if i go there with "internet explorer 6", it is not recognized and so i am not offered "flash player 10.3", for installing.. in this situation, i need some other way to get "flash player 10.3" for "internet explorer 6"..
adobe should make things easier for everyone by providing direct downloads for flash player..in my case, i use "flash player 10", so i need direct downloads for it.. yes, it is nice that the downloads are posted in the forum, but why not do it right and have in on some webpage, like on the "archives" webpage where adobe says that "flash player 10" can be downloaded, except that there are no links there for downloading it..

  • Flash Player will not install - OSX 10.9.5 w/ Firefox 34.0.5

I know this question has been asked before, but since no one seems to have an answer for it I have no choice but to ask again.
I was having trouble posting scores on a gaming website. The game ran fine, and I could log in successfully, but my scores never showed on the player list. The help section of the site suggested uninstalling / reinstalling Flash Player. I was having trouble with Flash elsewhere so I thought I'd give it a try. The uninstall was successful but now Flash will not reinstall. Now instead of a malfunctioning Flash Player I have no Flash Player at all.
The install process goes as it should - the installer uploads to my desktop, I open it, I get the "Adobe Flash Player Installer" window, I double-click in the icon, I'm asked if I'm "sure I want to open it," I click "open," I enter my administrator password, then comes the problem. The next pop-up window has a black background and for about 1/2 second you can see the words "Retrieving Install" and a loading progress bar, then the words disappear and you're left looking at the blank black box. That's it.
I have Ghostery, Lightbeam, and HTTPS Everywhere add-ons on Firefox. I turned Ghostery off through this process.
    Thanks in advance.

Well, good news. I solved it. And it's beyond bizarre that no one has suggested this.
Nested deep, deep, in the the help section is this:
    Still having problems?
If you are still having trouble installing Adobe Flash Player, try downloading the installer directly from the following sites:
Flash Player for Safari and Firefox - NPAPI
Flash Player for Opera and Chromium-based browsers - PPAPI
Apparently Adobe doesn't have a copy of its own software that works? Ridiculous but true. You actually have to download it from your browser's website.
Adobe, you all seriously need to get your act together.

  • Can't get latest Flash Player in IE8 under XP SP3, DEP blocks it

I'm trying to install the latest Flash Player. I think it started with a popup.
I'm running Windows XP Home, SP3.
When I go to Get Flash Player, IE 8.0.6001.18702 gets hung up, apparently due to Data Execution Prevention.
I've downloaded and run the Flash Uninstaller.
    I uninstalled and re-installed IE8.
    (Rebooting at each step.)
When I try to Get Flash Player, I get hung up, or looped back and IE stops after two tries.
I've disabled Spybot and Avast, the two virus protections I'm running.
I was able to install the latest Flash Player on Chrome and use it.
Now I've got no Flash Player under IE; when I try to go to a page that uses Flash (eg Bananagrams on Facebook) I get the message that this page needs Flash, and I get directed to Adobe, and can't get it.
How can I get any Flash Player for IE8?

    Thank you.
Not sure what I did, but a lot of un-installing, turning off Data Execution Prevention, and an install of an old version (Flash Player 9) from http://www.oldversion.com/Macromedia-Flash-Player.html and I seem to be back in business.

  • Stand alone installer for flash player

Is it still possible to download a stand-alone installer for Flash Player (or any Adobe product)?
I really, really, really, really have NO interstes in any download manager.  All I want is an installer I can just download.  There used to be an ftp site that had up to date software that could simply and easily be downloaded, but I couldn't find any current software on that site.  Where should I be looking?

You can make a bootable USB stick to install using this free program.

  • Bad installer for 'Flash Player 11.7.700.261' released on 2/4/2014?

Hi, where can we get a good installer for Flash Player 11.7.700.261? It seems like the one available at this link is a bad one: http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/archived-flash-player-versions.html#main_Archived_F lash_Player_versions_for_developers. After you download it, you will get an error when you try to unzip it.
    -- Team OCD.

I just downloaded fp_11.7.700.261_archive.zip and unzipped it with no problems.
The file size should be 143,718 KB (147,166,947 bytes); if you have anything else, then you got a corrupted download.
If you need an alternate download, tell us exactly what installers you need.

Je n' arrive pas à installer adobe flash player sur la tablette samsung galaxy note 10.1 sous Android 4.3,  merci de m'indiquer la marche à suivre ?

There is no more Flash Player for Android and there won't be another. Android is no longer compatible with Flash Player. Playing Flash content is very processor consumptive and it drains your battery, also shortening the life of it. Android (Google) recommends using either "Dolphin" or "Puffin" as your browser if you need to view Flash content with a mobile device running Android. They're both free in the GooglePlay store. These browsers use "server side" rendering to reduce the load on your device.
