Installation of HP ENVY 5530 in Apple MAC

I am not fully sure which Mac version it is but it is recent. I am helping a friend with this.
Installed the drivers directly from the HP site. We use it via WiFi (no USB cable connected). Printing works fine but scanning is a difficulty.
When I start a scan from the printer using the display, the mac as well as the printer respond with an error message indicating that there is a communication problem. So initiating a scan from the printer does ot work.
When I start a scan from the mac, all seems to work fine, I do see the scanned image (pdf file) in the screen of the mac. But when I try to find the document (scan) on the mac, I cannot find out where it is stored.
So UI do have 2 problems:
  - how can I solve the communication problem when I initiate the scan from the printer?
  - where a the scanns (pdf and/or jpg) stored on the mac?
I know my way arround in Windows but not so good in Apple.

Hey there @wandelaar , welcome to the forums!
I read about the problems you're having with scanning from the printers control panel, to the Mac and I hope to help. As the connection is wireless, there could have been an interruption, which could very well cause the "communication" error.
I would suggest to try power cycling the network devices to start:
Turn off the printer and computer and unplug the router for 1 minute (do not press any buttons on the router).
Plug the router back in and wait another minute, next turn on the printer and computer and attempt a scan from the front panel again.
As for the saved scans on the Mac, they usually save to your Pictures or Documents folder, in a subfolder named for the scanner or software installed. You should be able to open up the HP Scanning software from the Mac to change the saved scanned destination, and chose where you wish to have the scans sent and saved to.
Please keep me posted to let me know if the scanning is working again from the front panel, and I can make a few more suggestions if needed!
Please also include which Mac OS X is running: What's my Operating System?
Have a great day!

  • HP Envy 5530 won't scan to my Mac

My HP Envy 5530 was iffy at scanning previously with my Mac, but now that I've updated my Mac's operating system to Yosemite (Version 10.10.1), I can't get the printer to scan at all, it says it can't find the computer. It prints and copies just fine though. I also want to keep it connected to my Mac through a USB cord not through wifi. I tried installing the HP Print and Scan Doctor program. I downloaded it but my Mac says it can't open it as it doesn't have the program to open it with - it must be a pc only program.
    Please help!

I was able to get this working again...
My issue was that with Mcafee...the Mcafee firewall default was to setup my wifi as PUBLIC...as a result, any of my wifi devices (including HP Envy, Apple TV, etc) were automatically BLOCKED and not showing up....once i changed this setting to PRIVATE, all of my devices began working properly again....
I am using Yosemite and now the scanner works just fine...I have tested this on an iMac, iMac 5k, and macbook...same issue and solution applied...
    I hope this helps someone

  • HP Envy 5530 won't print in color from Mac

My printer won't print anything in color from my Mac. I've tried printing from Word and from a PDF, and each time only black ink will show up. I've tried:Removing the black ink catridge and printing with just colorShaking the color ink cartridgeRemoving and putting back the color ink cartridgePrinting a test page (color doesn't work for this, either- nothing prints at all when I do this)Double and triple checking my print settings The only ink color that my computer says is "low" is yellow. I'm printing wirelessly, but because black ink prints fine, I'm willing to bet there's no connection problems. DO NOT try to sell me more ink; I am already upset with HP enough as it is. The last thing I want to do right now is buy more of its ineffective products. Please help me fix this problem.
    Thank yoooouuuuu

  • HP Envy 5530 e-all-in-one Does Not Work With Mac

Just bought an HP Envy 5530 all-in-one. It does not print through Safari and possibly other Mac applications. Does not frame the page properly even with "print page" and prints slower  than 1 page per minute, even with no background images. My old HP had no problem with Safari. Phone support tells me there is no driver or fix. So I will return the device. Seems crazy. I now see othr commenters saying it doesn't work with Mac. If HP's no longer works with major Mac applications, they will be returned in droves. Anyone know why or know of a fix?

I am having the same issue. Did you ever find a solution?

  • HP Envy 5530 'Device is not supported' on Mac OSX 10.7

I have installed the software for the Envy 5530 but when I close the installer and go to HP Utility I get the message "The device is not supported' Updating HP Utility or using other HP Software that is designed to support this device may solve this problem.' HP Utility is useless. What other HP Software can I download?!

HI, I also had this same issue and finally worked out a solution.
Just to summarise: I had two Macbooks 10.7.4, iPhone, iPad, airport express and netgear evg2000 router. They all worked wirelessly one minute then stopped. I could wirelessly connect to the printer, print test pages, view the queue, view supplies but any print would appear in the queue as 100% complete or 1% or 12% but never actually print out.
I logged in to the embedded web server (ews) on the printer, went to network, advanced settings-bonjour and changed the Bonjour Highest Priority Service to '9100 printing' instead of 'LDP'. I then deleted the printer from the print function in system prefs, re added it and it worked. I had to turn the iPhone and iPad off and on and they worked.

  • Oracle WebCenter Installation on Apple Mac OS X 10.6.6

Could anyone tried to install Oracle WebCenter 11G PS3 on Apple Mac OS X (version 10.6.6) 64bit machine? I downloaded Oracle RCU (11.1.1.5.0) utility for linux (file name: ofm_rcu_linux_11.1.1.5.0_disk1_1of1.zip) and tried to run rcu as follows after unzipping it:-
    cd RCU_HOME/bin
    ./rcu
    but i got following error:
    Current Platform is not supported.
Supported Platforms are : Linux and Windows.
Can anyone do let me know what is the issue?

It depends on what you want to do... If you just want to mess around with WebCenter, download the prebuild VM.
If you want o do some serious development than you should install your own WebCenter VM. Use Oracle Linux and install webcenter/ucm on it. It's just a few hours work. It probably goes faster than when you need to download the prebuild VM :)

  • HP Envy 5530 not printing in color

    Hello,
I have reinstalled the printer drivers.  I have cleaned the printer heads.  Both ink cartridges are full.  However, every time I try to print something from the internet, the preview comes up in black and white.  When I export the image to a pdf in the program, Preview, the printout comes out in Black and White even though the image is color.
I am at my wits end with this.  I have even tried different browsers.
Thank you in advance for your help,

  • Cannot print wirelessly from MacBook to ENVY 5530 get message printer offline

Cannot print wirelessly from MacBook to ENVY 5530, get error message that "printer is offline"
    Thanks for the help.

    Hey @Geneferg,
Thanks for getting back to me regarding this issue. Because your printer shows connected on the Wireless Test Report, I am going to have you run some standard Mac troubleshooting steps to see if we can resolve this issue.
Step 1: Uninstall Drivers and Software:
First, it's important to have a nice clean slate to work with. Therefore, I am going to have you remove and uninstall the software and drivers for your HP Envy.
To start, can I please have you click here and run through the steps on how to Reset the Print System for your computer. Please run through the steps on 'Resetting the printing system in Mac OS X v10.5.x or 10.6.x'. This will remove every printer from your computer. However, this does not uninstall the printers. Therefore, if you use other printers on your Mac computer simply ensure that the printer is connected through the USB Cable or network connected and (+) add the printer back in via the Print & Scan window. Do not add your HP Envy back in at this time.
Next, please click here and follow through with the uninstall steps under the 'Mac OS X v10.6, OS X v10.7, OS X v10.8, and OS X v10.9' dropdown.
Once the uninstall is complete, please proceed to the next step.
Step 2: Verify and Repair your Disk Permissions on the Mac:
Open Macintosh HD and go to Applications
    Go to the Utilities Folder
    Open the Disk Utility
Select the Hard Drive volume you are using (usually on the left)
    Select Verify Disk Permissions
Once that process is done, select Repair Disk Permissions
Step 3: Check for Apple Updates:
    Go to Apple
    Select System Preferences
    Select Software Update
    Click Update Now
    Install your available updates
    Restart your computer
Step 4: Reinstall your Software and Drivers:
Please click here to download the latest drivers for your printer
Once the website opens, select the Download button on the top left
Once the download is complete, please follow any onscreen instructions to reinstall your wireless printer
Once your printer has been successfully reinstalled please test the printing function again to verify if the 'offline' issue has been resolved.
Please respond to this post with the result of your troubleshooting. Good luck!

  • HP Envy 5530 Connection Issues

    Hello,
I just purchased the HP Envy 5530 and have everything set up, however I cannot print anything. The printer is connected to our wi-fi, and the computer is a desktop that is directly connected. We have multiple devices in the house all connected to the same wi-fi, and none of them will print anything.
I have run the install program multiple times, and everytime the same thing happens. The printer shows it is connected. I enter the IP address and the installation program searches for it, but can never find anything. Same thing when trying from a mobile device or laptop. Searching but with no results.

    Hello,
Please try the below steps to check if there is connectivity between the printer and the computer ( wireless).
