Installation of Lynksys E1000
When trying to install my new E1000, I keep getting a message that my version of Windows is not supported and a link to click to download the updates. I have Vista and have dowloaded all available updates, including the Service Pack 1 the installation CD requests. However, I still continue to get the unsupported version message and cannot get any further. Any suggestions?
You can configure the router manually as well.If your Internet Service Provider is Cable follow this link....If your Internet Service Provider is DSL follow this link.

Is there anyway to get a CD image of the Installation CD for E1000 Wireless Router?
My CD-ROM drive broke and i'm not sure what to do now?
Hi Cruztol, you may just download the software from the website and use it to reinstall the router when needed. You can get the files from this link, http://support.linksys.com/en-us/support/routers/E1000. Click on the Download tab and choose the correct version. Hope that helps.

WRT310N-E1000:Firmware installation ver.2 FAILED
I recently was looking for a new firmware upgrade for my WRT310N because I heard it could make my network operate faster. I saw that there was a version 2 of my router's software here, so I uploaded it on my router. It said it was successful!
As it turns out... I now have a brick. It is very frustrating when it doesn't respond to anything. Does anyone have any information on how to get my router back from being a brick, and installing the firmware correctly?
Thanks! The firmware version is different from the hardware version. This must be the reason why your device got bricked. You should have sticked with the correct hardware version of your router. If it still responds to a ping then you can still get that to work. But if not, and warranty still applies then you can get that returned to the store where you bought it from and replace it.
First, set a static IP on your computer and have that connected to one of the ports of your router 1234.
Assign a Static IP Address on Your Computer
On the command prompt try to ping
Ping the Router
Download this file and use it to flash the firmware
TFTP Download 44.3 KB...
Double click the TFTP.exe file and click run :
For Server- Enter the IP Address of the router that you assigned. By default, the router is 192.168.1.1...
For Password- Enter the password you assigned the router. By default, the router’s password is “admin”.
For File- Click the triple “…” button and browse for the .bin firmware file...
Click Upgrade button to start upgrading. A progress bar should show up to show the progress.
Once the Upgrade is done press and hold the reset button for 30 seconds...Release the reset button...Unplug the power cable from your router, wait for 30 seconds and re-connect the power cable...Now re-configure your router...

[SOLVED] Many modules are not loaded in the Arch USB key installation.
Hello!
I installed Arch Linux on my USB key. I did it few months ago and it worked, I had portable arch.
Yesterday I decided to make a fresh installation. Unfortunately after booting it from my USB key
most of the modules were not loaded. Because of that I couldn't start the X server and connect to
the internet (ethernet card was not detected).
Even after loading the module which corresponds to my ethernet card manually (modprobe e1000e) it was not
displayed in the lsmod list.
I though "maybe I screwed something up during the installation?". To find out I used GParted to copy
my OS partition (perfectly working Arch Linux installed on the hard drive) to the USB key. Of course I changed the UUID of the USB partition.
After booting it I was suprised because the situation did not change - modules that are loaded on my main system for some
reason were not loaded on it's exact copy placed on the USB key.
I have no idea why my portable OS is acting like this.
Commands below were executed on another PC so don't look for the e1000e module.

The filesystem driver (vmhgfs module) is used only for the shared folder
feature. The rest of the software provided by VMware Tools is designed to work
independently of this feature.
If you wish to have the shared folders feature, you can install the driver by
running vmware-config-tools.pl again after making sure that gcc, binutils, make
and the kernel sources for your running kernel are installed on your machine.
These packages are available on your distribution's installation CD.

You can now run VMware Tools by invoking "/usr/bin/vmware-toolbox-cmd" from the
command line.
To enable advanced X features (e.g., guest resolution fit, drag and drop, and
file and text copy/paste), you will need to do one (or more) of the following:
1. Manually start /usr/bin/vmware-user
2. Log out and log back into your desktop session; and,
3. Restart your X session.

[SOLVED] installation on T420s
I've been using Arch Linux happily for a couple of years on my Thinkpad T42. Now I got a T420s and I after completing the standar install procedure I have no eth0 and hence I can't install anything that is not on the installation cd. lspci|grep -i eth shows I have an Intel 1502 Ethernet Controller. Some googling led me to this thread: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1741686&page=2. I can confim that ethernet works flawlessly out-of-the-box in Ubuntu 11.04. According to the linked thread this might be due to the fact that you need a very recent version of the e1000e driver. I assume the e1000e version included in the Arch Linux installer is to old.
Does anybody know if the above is correct and how I can install the driver for my ethernet card?

I had a similar issue on a Dell T1500 but the testing ISO's did not work for me, they booted for a bit (up to the udev stage) then I got a blank screen ... could go no further ..
My work around, was to install an old ethernet card, do the install with the official ISO, then upgrade, reboot, then I could use the integrated e1000e ethernet ..
booting with video= or nomodeset would take care of that black screen. (as said on the wiki)

Cant get any internet with my E1000
Hello, I bought a E1000 yesterday but I can´t seem to get any internet to any computer in the house.
First I ran the installation CD and everything went good untill the router were suppose to connect to the internet. So I restarted the modem waited over 2min and booted it again, but still nothing worked. (I have repeated this many times) So I then turned to the router. The router were getting a internet IP from my moden and all the lights were on too. So I started to look in the configuration. The DHCP Server was avalible and the Automatic Configuration - DHCP were chosen like it´s suppose to be. So everything looked fine in the router too.
I then looked to my computer, was it getting an IP from the router?
Yes everything was like it were on my WRT54G.
Anyone got a clue what might be wrong?
And I cant ping goolge.Still the same..

Critical Error : CUCM 9.1.2 Installation failed with return-code 256
Hi all,
The installation aborted with the following error message, any ideas on why this could happen? How can I access the mentioned path? How can I get the dump logs?I too hit this error. I have a customer that has a current 8.6(2) install, and wants to upgrade to 10.5. We are doing this on a UCS C260 server.
We were attempting to load this on the 10.5 OVA. After looking over the thread above, I noted the adapter type change made by manuelmtzdominguez. I started looking at this, and sure enough, the adapter type is seems to be the root cause.
The OVA for an 8.6 machine uses an adapter type "flexible", but the adapter type on the 10.5 OVA is using VMXNET3. On the 10.5 OVA, the only available options are VMXNET3 and E1000. Flexible isn't an option.
In my case, I'm simply going to install it on the 8.6 OVA, and then use Prime Deployment to run the upgrade to 10.5 (to get everything just right).
Moral of the story is, I guess, check the adapter types since apparently some options are not supported on older versions. -
Error in trying to connect E1000 router to Dell Desktop via ethernet cable.
Connected my Dell laptop to the E1000 using the enclosed disk, easy install and no problems with wireless connection. Created a USB via the install disk to connect the Dell desktop (XP pro SP3). When running installing received error pop up "installation not compete" contact Linksys support for assistance. Disabled all internet connections and tried a manual installation but failed. Any suggestions? or should I just purchase a wireless USB addapter? Thanks for your assistance.
Just connect the computer with an ethernet cable to the router and that's it. No installation necessary.

Installer can't load network via DHCP
Hi everyone,
I've been trying to install Arch, but the installer won't recognize my ethernet card. I have also used the core installer and installed the basic Arch setup, but I also could not get the network to work. I have an Intel ethernet card using the e1000e ethernet module, which is already loaded. During install, I get a "Transient Resolver Failure" error message when trying to use Pacman. I tried to use the information that my home server, running Debian, uses for its gateway (192.168.1.1), in my /etc/rc.conf, but that didn't seem to help. When I run "route" as root, the table is empty, but commands that I found on here don't seem to add any routes.
Any suggestions you all have would be most appreciated. Let me know if you need any more information from me; I'm more than willing to provide it.I assume the correct driver was detected and loaded for your ethernet controller, as you mention the e1000e module. Does this affect _only_ pacman?
If so look here: Arch Linux Forums
Otherwise try bringing the interface up manually: ifconfig [ethernet device] [ip address] up; route add default gw [gateway ip]; echo nameserver [dns server ip] >> /cet/resolv.conf
[stff]Hint: Searching the forum for the term "Transient Resolver Failure" may have been a reasonable idea before posting.[/stff] -
Inherited Linksys Voice over IP and data installation.
I have just inherited a brand new linksys, voice over ip data installation. It has roughly 25 telephones and the same number of computers with new WMP300N network cards and SPA941 IP telephones. The company remodeled an old construction with 100% masonry wall (brick and/or concrete). The remodeling included the 100% wireless data and telephone installation. Now that the remodeling is finished and work has started, the network saturates as soon as there are a few users. The computers are all using LinkSys WMP300N cards and the telephones are all LinkSys SPA941. They installed approx 15 wifi repeaters for telephones and 10 for datos. They installed two separate but identical AP's, one for Data and the other for Voice but both on a 192.168.1/24 subnet.(Zonet ZSR1124WE) The folks who installed this didn't, for some reason, use LinkSys AP's and repeaters but used Zonet ZSR1124WE for all.
My questions are:
1. Wouldn't using the same subnet be the same and using the same
wire that that would allow voice/telephones to saturate and
slow down the data even though the AP's are separate?
2. Wouldn't channel interference between the aprox 25
repeaters be common?
3. If I were to remove all their equipment (APs and repeaters.)
an install 2 LynkSys AP's in the center of the offices
where there is an open patio with a watt or better amplifier
(not illegal here, not in the U.S.) output and a high gain
antenna on each of the two and using separate networks.
172.16.1/24 for datos and leave 192.168.1/24 for telephones
have a chance at success and if so could you estimate
how much of a change and recommend equipment and/or other
critical or semi-critical points that I have missed?
Thanks,
ed
P.S. I have my doubts that this is even possible but it would be cool, if it only workedUmm.. you left out quite a bit of information:
How are the wired phones connected to the wireless network?
What channels do the APs use and how are they connected in between each other (and other wired data equipment)?
What kind of network is it? B, G, N?
How many WLAN channels are used? One per AP and all repeaters use the channel of the AP they repeat for?
As far as the subnet goes, the current setup shouldn't be a problem - I figure the problems are more likely to come from the wireless than the wired part of your network. Considering that you're basically halfing the throughput with each repeater (assuming the same channel which is likely since there are only 3 that do not interfere unless you have an A network) - the sheer number of repeaters is most likely to be blamed for the poor performance. Traditional WLAN networks generally use a wired backbone, plus you'd have a single net and use one of the three distinct channels in order to minimize interference.
Increasing the output of the main antenna is also only half of the problem... if you can reach clients that are farther away, those clients will also need the appropriate power output to reach the base again - and those wireless cards are limited in that way.
There are two essential pieces to tracking down a problem with your VoIP equipment:
The configuration of every device involved
SIP protocol traces
And don't forget: there's no such thing as giving too much information when describing a problem. -
I had a WRT54g router which I set up a point to point wireless connection to a wireless printer. I did not have a
network set up and it worked fine.
With the new E1000, do I have to set up a network for it to work with the wireless printer?
Thanks in advance.I think you have to install the Linksys E1000 router on your computer so that you have the network in your home .
If you are using the router only in Local network make sure you have the correct SSID and Password to connect the network on your wireless printer .
Connect the Modem to the Internet port on your Linksys E1000 router .
Connect the computer with the Ethernet cable to the Ethernet port on your router .
Install the Cisco Connect Software on your computer .
After the successful installation , Go to the Router settings and you will find the Router name (SSID) and password .
Connect your wireless printer to that SSID using the password.
Who is your Internet service provider ? -
Cannot get Cisco Connect to install or set up E1000 router
1. We have been using an E1000 router connected to our main Dell desktop (running XP SP3) to handle a small home network that includes wife's laptop which has card and kids' desktop with USB wireless adapter.
2. We purchased a new main desktop computer, ZT Systems running Windows 7. I am attempting to install Cisco Connect on this computer and set up the router. I reset it to factory specifications because I figured I'd have to start from step 1.
3. I cannot find the original setup CD that came with the router and I have no clue whatsoever what my password is.
4. So, I downloaded CiscoConnect.E1000.1.3.11069.2, the appropriate software to my desktop, and have been trying to install the software and configure the router, without any success whatsoever. When I plug it in, it asks me to connect the router which I do. It then will get to 25 percent of setup and stop, saying it couldn't be configured. At the same time, I have no Internet access, keeps telling me it's looking for networks when I actually am trying to set up a network.
5. I've tried the steps for configuring without the software, Windows still searches for a network and tells me it can't find one and I have no Internet access.
6. Can anyone tell me what's going on here, what I'm doing wrong, anything I'm missing? Do I need to just buy another router or what? Thanks in advance for any help.Does your desktop have wireless? If so, switch it off and retry the installation. Make sure to reset the E1000 by holding the reset button for about 10 seconds.

I understand (from your doc and from reading forum entries) that BEA WLS 8.1 SP4 does not have a container that can support EL and JSTL; however, Diablo does (which is WLS 9.0) I'm currently studying for the SCWCD Exam which requires JSP 2.
