Installation of Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 C Runtime and its impact

Dear All,
I am working with a client, and as a prerequisite, Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 C Runtime has to be installed on the client's servers in order for one of our products to work. 
Since at the moment the client do not have this installed on their servers, and the fact that their servers have not been rebooted in a long time, they feel that there is a risk in installing Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 C Runtime if rebooting the server
is required.
Could anyone provide me with some insight into the following:
1. If there is any impact on the OS (Windows 2003 R2) or the IIS (version 6.0) or any other MS products or applications by installing  Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 C Runtime
2. If any common library will be written into during the installation and what is the impact
3. If the server has to be rebooted after the installation
4. What is an appropriate procedure for rollback (is it simply uninstalling “Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 C Runtime” and would a reboot of the server be required after the uninstall, etc.)
Would anyone be able to provide any insight on the above?

1. Use reliable backup and preserve return path.
2. Do pilot test on computer that is not part of your enterprise.
3. Consider applications that may have different versions of MSC libraries. Here I can se the possible problem.

    Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 is not available for free download and you will have to purchase the software from the vendor. I believe only the express edition is available for download, but this does not help as you need to have the Standard or the Professional edition to make it working with R12.Hi,
    Sorry took me so long to talk to my friends to see if I can borrow MS Visual Studio. Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 is expensive and my friends don't have it.
    Can I use Microsoft Visual Studio 2010 Professional for this purpose?
    When I re-install EBS R12, which is the correct path (below) # 1 or # 2?

  • XL Reporter - microsoft Visual Studio 2005 Premier Partner Edition

    Hi,
    When I right client a Report Definition and click Edit or Generate Report, I receive a pops up message (title Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 Premier Partner Edition) that "The feature you are trying to use is on a CD Rom or other removable disk that is not available'
    I did no installed Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 Premier Partner Edition.  So, I have no idea where that comes from, unless, it is supposed to be included in XL Reporter installation in order to run with Patch 36.
    I am using SAP 2005A SP1 Patch 36, XL Reporter Patch 29.  Anyone encounter that?

    Additional info, here is prerequisites before installation of XL :
    1. Your workstation has a minimum of 256 MB RAM (512 MB is recommended).
    2. The processor of your workstation is a Pentium III or higher.
    3. You have installed Microsoft Excel on your workstation. The following versions are supported:
    • Microsoft® Excel 2000 (SP 1 or higher is required.)
    • Microsoft® Excel 2002 (SP 1 or higher is required.)
    • Microsoft® Excel 2003 (SP 2 or higher is recommended.)
    4. You have installed Microsoft® .NET Framework 1.1 and Microsoft® MDAC 2.7 or higher.
    You can download both Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 and Microsoft MDAC 2.7 or higher from www.microsoft.com. For more information on how to check for version information, see SAP Note 903032.

    Is there any relation ship between .net framework with VS 2005 ? I think when installing SQL 2005, it is included VS and .net framework.

  • Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable Error during install

    I am trying to upgrade a Office 2000 installation to Office 2007.  The install keeps failing with an error 1704  saying that the installation of the Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable has been suspended and that I have to rollback the changes. 
    How do I do this?
    Any thoughts would be helpful.

    then got this error

    When installing the PowerDesigner client we receive the message below that a Microsoft Visual C++ package is required.  When we select INSTALL, the operation fails due to a higher version already being present on the machine.  We continue with the installation and we do not encounter further errors.  Can this C++ Redistributable install failure safely be ignored?  (We would prefer not to remove a higher version of the Redistributable in order to install an earlier version for PowerDesigner.)

    You should be fine.  The redistributable should not update a newer installation.

  • Error during installation of Microsoft SQL Server 2005

    Hello All,
    During installation of Microsoft SQL Server 2005 I have got the below error message
    "There was an unexpected failure during the setup wizard"
    From this link http://support.microsoft.com/kb/916760 i came to know that this error occurs just because I used SQL Server 2005 installations from a folder on a network share.
    After that i unstall everything & copy the installations in a local drive. But again when we restart the activity we got the same error message & the installation completed.
    Any hint why this happens..

    I think we need to focus on the error in the setup log first.
    Error: Action "InvokeSqlSetupDllAction" threw an exception during execution. Error information reported during run:
    Source File Name: datastore\cachedpropertycollection.cpp
    you might be able to see more detailed error information in the log.

    In addition, to clarify, the SQL4SAP.VBS script does not support Microsoft Cluster Service (MSCS). If you want to run the
    script in an MSCS configuration, you get an error message. In MSCS configuration need to install the SQL Server database software manually instead of using the script. Please see the corresponding SAP product installation guide under http://service.sap.com/instguides

    right click the exe, Properties\Compatibility, then run compatibility troubleshooter or choose a compatible mode

    Our 11.5.9 financials environment consists of two nodes: Web/Forms are on W2000, and everything else is on HPUX. We have installed the Visual C++ version 6.0 on the W2000 a years ago when we setup the W2000 server. Now, we are moving the W2000 node to W2003 for 11.5.9 financials initially, and then a few months later, will be upgrading it to 12i. My question: since I must install Visual C++ 8.0 as a requirement for release 12i, will release 11.5.9 work with this version? Or, must I install Visual C++6.0 also?

    You might want to try : MS Visual Studio 2008 and Visual C++ 2008 Express instead as this version is supported as well.

    It is hard to say what is the reason since you haven't provide any error info to us. In order to troubleshoot this issue please paste your error message here or at least show us the screenshot of the error message.
    If you haven't got any info, you can navigate to %temp% folder and search for the log like dd_vcredist_x86_20150119121249, this is one of the logs from my side. Then please upload the log to me and I will help you troubleshoot this issue.
    You can also search for the error yourself from the log:
    For exmaple, if you get 0x80070002 or 0x80070003, this means the package cannot find files and you can redownload the package to install.
    If you get 0x80070005 error, this means you don't have proper permissions and you need to run the setup with the Admin account.

    You will need to meet the prerequisites before installation will proceed past that point. If Visual C++ is not installing, you may want to try installing it separately before installing App-V 4.6 SP2.
