Installation of NW workplace

Hi,
I am trying to install Netweaver workplace on my system.
It got stuck at the step which says "Create Database schema". It does not give any error.
Can somebody help me on this.

I'm trying to install the Developer Workplace 7.01 MaxDB on a Virtual Box instance running Windows XP SP2. The Virtual Machine has 1 GB of RAM and about 8 GB of free disk space. (The aim is to run a local version of the ISA Webshop.

51038550_9 (RDBMS_MaxDB_7.8.01_Build_14)
51036767_7 (NW_7.01_SR1_Krnl_WIN_AIX_z_OS_HP_SOL)
I have just downloaded the latest release of MaxDB, but I understand from the note that this version is not compatible with NW 7.07 without additional steps.
Thanks for the Note, I will try download MaxDDB 7.7 and try again with that version right away.

Installation Problems: Developer Workplace 7

Hi All
I am getting an error during the 'Import Java Dump' phase of the installation.
I have SQL 2000 SP4 running on win XP and so far the installation as been fine, appart from this error.
I have check the log file and cannot make alot of sense out of it!
So any help would be great

Is it possible to install Netweaver Developer Workplace 7.0 on Windows 7 .. 32 Bit ?
The installation Guide talks @ only windows XP and Windows 2000 and windows 2003.

I have installed a developer workplace etc . I have installed J2ee engine , portal , JDI etc using oracle DB at the server side .My server and JDI is SP14 version . I have following questions .
1 ) From where we can installables for Developer workplace . Pls give the path .
2 ) Is it possible to go for a developer workplace that use MAX DB at my machine ( my laptop ) .Or do I need to go for the same oracle database even at my client machine .

I think that you may be slightly confused on the terms. Developer Workplace comprises two components. The first component is NetWeaver Developer Studio. This is the IDE. The second is a J2EE engine that you can deploy the components you build in NWDS to. These components are both installed on your local machine. NetWeaver Developer Infrastructure = JDI. These are server side components. The CMS, CBS, and DTR make up the JDI.
If you search for Developer Workplace you will find the installables.
You can use different databases in theory but I have seen issues.

dear all, i am searching for a sneak preview for Portal, that i an hooking into my NSP to run BW Business Explorer (BEx).
Naturally i need a java stack, and i am not sure if any of the new sneak previews enable the BEx functionality. a good colleague of mine mentioned "NetWeaver Developer Workplace 7.0 SR3 Evalution SDN Version " that used to be available some time ago, but, in searching, i cannot see this anywhere now.
anyone got the BEx working with NSP and a java stack ?

Serial number question

I have multiple installations within my workplace and I need to find the serial key on the various computers which AA CS 5.5 is installed already, Can anyone please help it is very important.

Matho4 do you have the serial numbers available somewhere? If so you can go into Photoshop and select Help>System Info and it will have a field titled Serial give you the first 20 digits of the serial number. The complete 24 digit serial number is not avalable for users to view on their computer.

Is SAP NetWeaver Developer Studio 2004s supported on Linux? It appears you can get a trail version of SAP NetWeaver Developer Workplace 2004s for Linux but there are no installation guides (SAP NetWeaver Developer Workplace nor SAP NetWeaver Developer Studio) to be found anywhere.

I am trying to install 32 bit version of NW 7.0 SR3 Developer Workplace (Max DB) on Windows 7 64 computer but the installation fails. Has any one tried this?
Is SAP planning to release 64 bit version of Developer Worlplace?

I assume we are talking about NWDS 70X, because higher NWDS releases are fully supported on win7.
Please note that there is a difference between something is working and whether we can provide support for it.
See the official statement on this in the note:
#1566977 - NWDS on Windows 7
which says:

There are successfull installations of NWDS 7.0x running inside and outside of SAP.
Please make sure that the NWDS is running on a supported and correctly configured JDK.
Please acknowledge that while you may successfully install and run NWDS 7.0x on Windows 7 this still is not a supported OS! Running NWDS 7.0x on Windows 7 is at your own risk.

Problems for NW Developer Workplace installation - setting up MS SQL

Hi all SDNians,
I'm installing the NW2004S Dev Workplace (SAPinst) on my laptop and I'm experience some problems. Due to my work, I need to install the Dev Workplace option with MS SQL server (not MaxDB).
Prior to the installation, I've already setup my JDK, JCE and installed MS SQL via the MS SQL SERVER 2000 (51031281) via SQL4SAP.VBS.
During the setup, I was prompted to select a SQL server (during step 2 I think). The thing is I have not setup any SQL servers. I've checked the SQL server programs (eg. client network utility, Configure SQL XML in IIS, Entp Manager) but couldn't find anywhere to create or link to a SQL server and run it.
Am I suppose to run the SQL server locally(which I have not idea how to) or link it to the server?(which infrastructure is not completely setup) Or am I missing any step?
Would appreciate some help/advise....A true newbie here and it's my first time doing such installation, pls bear with me.

Workplace Installation Error: DB instance not found

Hello all,
While installing our Developer Workplace SR2 on our workstation, we encountered an error indicating that the database instance is not found.
FYI, we were able to successfully install two without the problem . It appears that during the installation, it was able to access the database - dropping the said instance - but failed in creating the database instance afterward.

Thanks for the prompt response.
As I reviewed the sequence of the installation, it appears that this could be an installation bug. The sequence does not make sense at all - it drops the database instance and starts a session after that - thus, resulting into the error.
The option I chose during installation is to recreate the default DB instance which is "J2E" that is made available during the MaxDB installation. Thus, it should recreate the "J2E" instance after the dropping of which -- this appears to be missing in the entire sequence.
The Resoultion/Workaround
Well, nothing amazing - but I just chose to make a different DB instance instead of using the existing J2E instance from MaxDB (i.e. DB1). In this approach, it does not have to drop the instance but instead create a NEW instance.
Not a definitive solution but a mere, common sense workaround. But I hope this helps those who has encountered the same issue through the same installation scenario.

Developer Workplace u0096 installation errors (Configure CAF)

Hi,
I am installing SAP NW 2004s Developer Workplace (SP09) in my laptop and the process always stops when we get to the "Configure CAF" step.
The only error I could find so far is in the sap management console, about JMX adapter, regarding ObjectNameCache.ReplaceEntries.
Did anyone have this issue during installation? Can you suggest any other validation that I should do?

I have good news... I finally find the solution to my problem!
The IBM JDK 1.4.2 for AIX was buggy and required us to patch it to the very latest version.
The version we previously had, was :
java full version "J2RE 1.4.2 IBM AIX 5L for PowerPC (64 bit JVM) build caix64142-20070317 (SR8)"
The version we are now running, is :
java full version "J2RE 1.4.2 IBM AIX 5L for PowerPC (64 bit JVM) build caix64142ifx-20070509 {SR8 SAP ifix: 119818}"

Can anyone experience this before? I don't know how to proceed with this installation. It looks it is hang-up.

From the SAPInst.log, I did find some warning messages as well as some error messages:
