Installation of OEM

Hi all,
OS : RHEL 5.7 64bit
DB : 11.2.0.2 64bit
I want to install OEM to monitor my database.
Can anyone provide link or steps for installation of OEM?
What are the prerequisite for it?

  • Installation of OEM 12c and DB 12c / repository

    Hi,
currently I am using an Oracle DB 11.2.0.1 to get to know Oracle (administration, SQL, PL/SQL) and to prepare for certification.
Now I want to install OEM 12c with Plugin DB 12c because there are many new features that are not covered in 11.2. Therefore I need 11.2.0.3. or an upgrade to 11.2.0.3 as database repository for OEM 12c. But I can not install 11.2.0.3 or upgrade to this version because a support ID is required for download.
How can I install EM 12c and DB 12c for the purpose of learning oracle and testing Oracle related features using my OTN account as usual?
    Thanks in advance.
    Best regards
    Eli

    Hi,
    @sybrand_b
    thanks for your message.
I have already read some documents and the installation of Oracle 12c including EM Express was successful. Then I tried different OEM combinations but ended up in non compatible OEM12c - repositoryDB - DB12c scenarios or would have needed a support ID.
I am slightly confused regarding full versions, updates and plugins, compatible vs incompatible combinations, which OS works for me etc. and try to figure out a sequence of steps that works anyway. And the parts to download are quite big.
    The main steps are
    1. Installation of repository DB (which one, which OS?)
    2. Installation of the latest OEM 12.1.0.3 using the repository DB
    3. Oracle DB 12.1.0.3 has to be plugged into OEM
Which software bundles to install OEM 12c incl. DB 12c should and can I download using my OTN Account?
Which OS works best with downloadable versions? Should I use Oracle Linux64 or a different OS or can I use Ubuntu 64 as well?
    Best regards

  • Oracle PeopleSoft Enterprise Manager Plugin Installation on oem grid control 12c facing error

    Hi Friends,
I am planning to monitor Peoplesoft 8.52 HRMS application through oem 12c grid control. First I have installed 12c grid control successfully. Followed by I am installing the Oracle PeopleSoft Enterprise Manager Plugin in 12c oem repository containing 11g database. I am facing configuration assistant error message as below

Configuration assistant "PeopleSoft Environment Management Repository Plug-in" failed
The "/u01/oracle/cloudcontrol/middleware/oms/cfgtoollogs/configToolFailedCommands" script contains all commands that failed, were skipped or were cancelled. This file may be used to run these configuration assistants outside of OUI. Hi,
I just came across the same problem.
In my case, I hit this issue while trying to reinstall Oracle EMCC 12g.
Since previous installation failed, I decided to start from the beginning again but I am now hitting this.
Before trying to reinstal, I dropped SYSMAN and a few other users created on the provided DB.
    Did you solve this issue?
I believe I may have not "clean up" the database properly. Which would be the right way of wiping out the DB without actually rebuild it again?
    Thanks

Help is not possible without a four digit database version.
Also what kind of help do you require? You can't read documentation?
In that case: This forum is not the place to behave like a 2 year old and to ask your mummy to hold your hand.
The procedure is documented, please read it, and don't ask doc questions.
If you love bothering a forum of volunteers and turn it into a free documentation lookup service, at least provide a four digit database version.

  • Installation OID & OEM

After an ostensibly 'clean' install of 8.1.6.0.0 Enterprise Management Infrastructure; Custom option; all features, typical Net8 & Default DB settings I have problems.
From the services panel I check the box that allows the service to talk to the desktop and I get Could not start the OracleOraHomeOEMrootManagementServer service on \TAIM_SERVERNT4. Error 0203: The system could not find the environment option that was entered.
Also the DOS box for OEMCTRL reports:
OEMCTRL for Windows NT: Version 2.1.0.1.0

    Starting the Oracle Management Server...

The OMS is now started and ready.
[Thread-50][2000-12-11:12:32:10:302] Vxa - External Service cpservicedelegate no longer available
I search for a resources.ora and find one at D:\Oracle\orb\admin\resources.ora.
Note the reversal of the directory order.
It seems that no one would be able to run OEM from this install unless there were a fix.
Nothing appears to be mentioned in oracle816nte/install/READMEDOC.htm#761688
No reference to resources.ora exists in the Registry.
    References exist in the files
    D:Oracle\orb\bin\Uk.dll
    D:Oracle\orb\bin\yu40.dll
    D:Oracle\orb\mesg\ctlUS.MSB
    D:Oracle\orb\mesg\ydctUS.MSB
Someone must have this working somewhere the emperor cannot be that naked.
Any clues what my next step should be?
    TIA

Also, Walet Manager failed to get past the splash screen.
Needing to get on with the project and able to do w/o OEM, OID, & directory sevice for a while I uninstalled, deleted all oracle directories and deleted all the oracle entries in the registry that were allowed ( "LEGACYwhatever" remained ).
I installed 8.1.5. Now Wallet Mgr. works. I wonder does 8.1.6 need to be installed into 8.1.5 for it to work completely?

  • New Installation of OEM just closes after Username/Password entry

My database server adminstrator created database for me and migrated the data from another server.
When I try to open it using the OEM version 10g, I find my database as listed in the tnsnames file, get prompted for the Username and Password, but then the OEM closes. No message at all.
    What can I check?

  • OEM 10.2.0.1 installation and upgrade to 10.2.0.3

    Dear all,
I want to install the latest version of OEM 10.2.0.3 on Linux RedHat 4. However, after downloading the OEM 10.2.0.3 and reading the release note, I realized that the download is just the 10.2.0.3 upgrade patchset. I have to do a fresh base installation of OEM 10.2.0.1 first. Is this correct?
After installing OEM 10.2.0.1 with an existing 10.2.0.1 database, I need to upgrade OEM 10.2.0.1 to OEM 10.2.0.3 using the patchset I downloaded. Because both OMS and AGENT will be upgraded, I am not sure what installation destination I shoud supply? OMS_HOME, or AGENT_HOME, or just a new home for upgrade? What are the required steps to upgrade OEM 10.2.0.1 to OEM 10.2.0.3?
Are there any documentation or articles that I can follow to do the upgrade?
    Thanks a lot in advanced.
    Xiaoping

There is a README.txt file in the 10.2.0.3 patchset zip file that has the instructions for upgrading 10.2.0.1 OEM to 10.2.0.3.
You download 10.2.0.1 separately which delivers a 10.1.0.4 database. Apply the one-off database patch to the db10g 10.1.0.4 Oracle Home via opatch, then use runInstaller to upgrade to 10.2.0.3 via 3731593. You can optionally create a db10gr2 10.2.0.1 Oracle Home, apply the 10.2.0.3 patchset then run dbua to upgrade the 10.1.0.4 repository database to 10.2.0.3.
You probably would have had fast response posting to the Enterprise Manager Grid Control forum:
    Enterprise Manager
    2. Fresh Installation of Enterprise Manger 10g Grid Control Release 2 and upgrading it to Release 3
In order to install Enterprise Manager 10g Grid Control Release 3, you must install either 10.2.0.1.0 or 10.2.0.2.0 Grid Control environment. This section describes steps to install Enterprise Manager 10g Grid Control Release 3 environment starting with 10.2.0.1.0 (10.2.0.2.0 for Windows) install
2.1 Install Oracle Enterprise Manager 10g Release 2
Installing 10g Grid Control Release 3 requires any previous releases of Grid Control, that is any 10.2.x.x.x installation, and upgrade to 10.2.0.3.0 release. If you do not have a previous release, but want to have a 10.2.0.3.0 Grid Control environment, then first install 10.2.0.1.0 Grid Control (10.2.0.2.0 for Windows), and then upgrade it to 10.2.0.3.0. Start with the Oracle Enterprise Manager 10g Release 2 Grid Control media pack (DVD) and install 10.2.0.1.0 (10.2.0.2.0 for Windows)
    - Insert DVD into your computer (note: It is better to copy the DVD contents to local hard disk for faster performance)
    - Run runInstaller (setup.exe for Windows) to start installation
    - When asked for "install type" option, choose "Enterprise Manager using New Database" option
    - Complete installation as per install guide
Important: For information about installing 10.2.0.1.0 and 10.2.0.2.0, refer to the installation guides available at:
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/documentation/oem.html
    2.2 Apply required patches
In the case of Grid Control environment installed via "Enterprise Manager using New Database" option, repository database version is 10.1.0.4.0. Before upgrading to 10.2.0.3, apply the patch for bug 4329444 on the Database Home. In order to apply this patch for the Solaris platform:
    - Copy the p4329444_10104_<platform>.zip file from the DVD to any directory on the host which has the repository database running on.
    - Unzip the file using following command:
    $ unzip p4329444_10104_<platform>.zip
    - Follow the instruction in 4329444/README.txt to apply the patch
For more detail on this, refer to the release note.
2.3 Install Oracle Enterprise Manager 10g Release 3
2.3.1 Copy the p3731593_102030_<platform name>.zip patch set installation archive from the DVD to any directory on the host which has the Oracle Management Service running on it.
    2.3.2 Perform the installation
    - Enter the following command to unzip and extract the installation files from the downloaded image described in section 1.2:
    $ unzip p3731593_102030_<platform name>.zip
This extracts the files to the "3731593" directory.
    - Navigate to the 3731593/Disk1 subdirectory
         $ cd 3731593/Disk1
    - Set the ORACLE_HOME variable to the Oracle Management Service(OMS) oracle home.
    - Execute the runInstaller (setup.exe for Windows)
         $ ./runInstaller
The upgrades process then upgrades the Oracle Management Service (OMS), Oracle Management Repository and the Management Agent on the same host as the OMS to the latest Enterprise Manager 10g release 3 version.
Important: The same Patch Set can be used for patching OMS,Repository, and Management Agent. For more detail on installing the patchset, refer to the release note.
2.4 Optional: Upgrading Repository Database to 10.2.0.3
If you installed Grid Control 10.2.0.1.0 (10.2.0.2.0 for Windows) via "Enterprise Manager using New Database" option, your repository database version is 10.1.0.4. In order to upgrade your repository database to 10.2.0.3, follow the steps below after upgrading your Grid Control environment to Enterprise Manager 10g release 3.
    a. Upgrade the database to 10.2.0.1
    b. Install 10.2.0.3 database patchset

    Hi,
First of all with EM 12.1.0.x any version you are not required to install wls separately, we have single installer for em and wls. Is there any specific reason you installer wls separately?
Coming back to your issue: can you check
    %OMS_HOME%\BIN>emctl istart oms completes successfully.
    %OMS_HOME%\BIN>emctl istop oms completes successfully.
Also open an SR with Oracle support and share the number. We should debug such issue through SR so that we can share logs and come find a root cause.

    Hi!
When you start upgrading your products, you are asked for the "Installation name".
Imagine that the installation of the entire product is divided into 3 parts:
    a) Database: db10g (the Installation Name)
    b) OMS: oms10g
    c) Agent: agent10g
Then, to choose the perfect directory to upgrade the product, you must choose the installation name from the menu. If you select agent10, the final path is going to coincide with the original.
Do this for the OMS and the OMR.
    Greetings.

Thanks. I installaed successfully after unzip both files in one directory but still there are some issues.
    1. No enterprise manager install and I couldn't get any error or message during installation for OEM.It depends on what options you chose when installing the software - did you choose to create a database also ? If so, did you choose to enable database control ? http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E11882_01/install.112/e24186/install.htm#BABDJIFG
    2. SQL PLUS installed but not in graphic mode like other Oracle version 8i, 9i, 10g. There is in DOS command line mode. There is no longer a GUI SQL*Plus - this was removed after 10gR2 - you will need to use SQL Developer. http://docs.oracle.com/cd/B28359_01/install.111/b32006/whatsnew.htm#BGGBABGJ
    3. SQL Developer installed but ask Java Exe file for sql developer when I click icon. I tried to find exe file in sql developer directory but I couldn't find.Pl ask in {forum:id=260}
    4. Database configation Assistant installed but I got some error during database creation.
ORA-28056: Writing audit records to Windows Event Log failed (I got this error so many time I clicked IGRON)Most likely because the Windows event viewer log is full - http://support.microsoft.com/kb/308427
ORA-01075: you are currently logged on
After creating database, I tried to login at SQL PLUS I got following error and there is no entry in TNSNAME file for my database but it is showing name in Database configration assistant when I went to delete that DB.
Pl post the exact error code and message. Are there any errors in the DBCA log file ?
ORA-12528: TNS:Listener: all appropriate instance are blocking new connections
As noted above, restart all Oracle related services and try then
    Still I need your help.
    Thanks.HTH

  • Solairs 10 installation did not start inetd

Has anyone experienced this and/or knows why it happens or how to solve the issue?
Have recently installed Solaris 10 on an E450 with no visable issues. Everything went through smoothly:
Chose to use the Full Installation with OEM support.
    Manually configured the disk layouts.
    Manually configured the network information.
Chose not to use any protocols like NIS, DNS etc...
The system came up cleanly. I could ping the default router and connect to other servers from this one. However, I could not connect to this server from anywhere else.
I found that /network/telnet was labelled as uninitialized and /network/inetd was offline.
Nothing I did seem to make them work.
I tried svcadm enable -r /network/inetd which didn't report any errors but didn't make any difference either.
In the end, and reading something from a post on this forum, I did a sys-unconfig, booted the system back up, answered all the network config questions again with the same answers as on the initial install.
The system same back up, I checked for inetd and telnet and they were both online this time.
So, can anyone shed any light on this?
    Regards
    Matt

You probably should have tested with "svcs -x" which services
    didn't start correctly.
The inetd service depends on a few other services, and I guess one
    of them had a problem.
