Installation of Oracle 10.2.0.3 on 32 bit windows 2008

I am trying to install oracle 10g on windows 2008. The installation process went smooth until it reached creating database. At that point when it reached 2% I am getting an error Ora 12560: TNS protocol adapter error. I tried to download the patch file 10.2.0.3 but i am not getting in to the metalink. Is this error related to the patch file? if so where can i get that patch file from?

hi,
i'm having the same issue.
so far, I realized that:
- bug number for this problem is 7263061
- patch for this bug seems to be number 7677780
(Opatch also needs to be upgraded, via patch 6880880)...
BUT (yes, there's a BUT...)
that patch applies to 10.2.0.4 base system, while Oracle.com indicates 10.2.0.3 for installing on a windows 2008 server 32bit, and I have a that windows 2008 server which is also domain controller, and need to install oracle on it.
SO... I'm stuck.
Still I haven't found a patch for 10.2.0.3 system.
I'm searching, anyway...
anybosy with a solution that applies?
thanks in advance!
cheers

  • Accessing a 32 Bit Oracle 9.2 database from a 64 bit Windows 2008 Server

    Hi Guys,
I hope someone might be able to help me I am trying to extract data from our existing oracle 9.2 Database onto our new 64 bbit 2008 server. The problem I seem to be having is that no matter what version of Oracle I try to install I'm not able to see any oracle Drivers in the ODBC\ODBC32 section.
I have tried both the 32 bit Oracle 10g ODAC 10.1.0.4.0 and Oracle 11g ODAC 11.1.0.7.20 with no luck, hopefully some one can point me in the right direction. I don't tthink installing the 64 bit would work as the database is 32 bit is this correct or should I be using the 64 bit.
    Thanks in advance
    D0n_mac

    Hi,
You need to install 64 bit client if you're going to use it with a 64 bit app. You dont need to worry how many bits the server is, the client takes care of that.
    Hope it helps,
    Greg

  • Please help me to get Oracle 10.2.0.5 software for 64 bit Windows 2008 R2

    Hi All,
Subject: Please help me to get Oracle 10.2.0.5 software for 64 bit Windows 2008 R2 operating system.
I am looking for Oracle 10.2.0.5 software to install in windows 2008 server (64 bit) R2. I tried with oracle download repository but unfortunately I couldnt find this software. In the below link I can see the product Oracle 10.2.0.5 - 64 bit (Itanium). I have tried to download and install in the server but I received in-compatible error message.
    http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/database/enterprise-edition/downloads/index.html
From the oracle support certification site I have found that the Oracle 10.2.0.5 is the compatible version to installed in windows 2008 server(64) R2.
I am trying very hard to find Oracle 10.2.0.5 - 64 bit. Can you please suggest me where I can download this software.
    Please do the needful.
    Regards,
    Jame

    Hi;
Which means, do i need to install 10.2.0.4 and then to upgrade 10.2.0.5 using patchset?10.2.0.1 is base relase 10.2.0.x is patchest. 10.2.0.5 cover previous patchest errors which mean you do not need install 10.2.0.4 than upgrade it 10.2.0.5

  • Installation of Oracle Database 10g 10.2.0.3 on Windows 2003 Server

    Hi Guys,
We have to install Oracle Database 10g 10.2.0.3 on Windows 2003.
I read on net, metalink and OTN as well and it seems there is no single 10.2.0.3 setup available to do so.
One has to upgrade from earlier version to 10.2.0.3.
Is that so? Is this the only way?
I mean if we want new and fresh 10.2.0.3 then don't we have installer for it?
In this case we will have to install 10.1.0.2 and then upgrade? (we have 10.1.0.2 installable with us)
And if at all that is the only path available then for 10.2.0.3 on Windows 32 bit - Patchset 5337014 i.e. p5337014_10203_WINNT.ZIP from metalink is the correct patch?
    Thanks in advance!

  • Oracle Warehouse Builder 10.1.0.4 on Windows 2008 - 64 bits

    Hi Gurus.
I'm currently working with a customer who wants to migrate all their database-servers to Windows 2008 on 64-bits processors. They're using Oracle Database Enterprise Edition 10g Release 2 (10.2.0.4) and Oracle Warehouse Builder (10.1.0.4). The OWB-clients will still run on Windows XP. I've used the "Certify"-funcionality on Metalink, but it doesn't really answer my questions. (It does* ansver some of my questions, but it also raises a few new ones....)
My main question is: Can you run serverside OWB 10.1.0.4 on Enterprise Edition 10.2.0.4 for Windows 2008 64-bits?
    Thanks in advance:-)
    Best regards
    Helge

    No.
Oracle Warehouse Builder version 10.1.x was desupported on 16-JUL-2007.
The desupport notice is available on Metalink (Note 376384.1).
The Warehouse Builder installation as part of the 11.1.0.7 installation should be certified, but I cannot find specifics.

    Hi,
It seems there is a 32 bit client and a 64 bit client.
We have a 64 bit operating system. (MS Windows 2008 SERVER).
Is it correct theses are the only2 versions of the client a 32bit client and a 64 bit client and the operating system is irrelevant.
i.e. no 32 bit client for 32 bit operating system operating and 32 bit client for 64 bit operating system?

  • Which Oracle client to use? with CRS2008 on Windows 2008 R2 64bit

    Hi,
We are setting up a standalone Crystal Reports 2008 Server on Windows 2008 R2 64bit. This server will serve some reports that will pull data from an Oracle 11g DB. Several Oracle 10g/11g, (32bit or 64bit) DB client has been tried, but CRS cannot connect to the oracle DB using any of them. Which oracle client is known to be working well on this setup?
    CRS 2008 <> Windows 2008 R2 64 bit <> Xeon E5600 series machine
    Thanks,
    Steve

    Hello,
    CRS2008 v1 supports Oracle 9.2, 10g R1, 10G R2 and 11g R1.
The client to use on those version are the same as the server meaning if you have a 11g R1 server then you can use an Oracle Net Client 11G R1. But you can use also a JDBC, ODBC, OLEDB Oracle 11G R1.
    If you have a CRS2008 v0, then Oracle 11G is not supported. Only 9.2, 10g R1 and 10G R2.
I hope this will help you

    > As suggested by you we have downloaded the latest IBM DB2 V 9.7 FP3 from market place and completed the installation successfully. Now I am trying to perform post installation activities but I am facing few issues with Browser IE 8.0 on Windows 2008 Server R2.
    > I wonder if there any compatibility issues with IE 8 on Windows 2008 Sever R2 as I could not able to see any tabs once i login into portal. Even I could not able to login NWA also but the same is working fine in other browsers. Please suggest if i need to change IE settings to view all tabs properly in portal.
To use IE 8 you have to update to a certain patchlevel. This is listed in the PAM on
    https://service.sap.com/~sapidb/011000358700001225132009E
on patch 16. You'll see there, that you will need to update to SP 6 on Windows 7 (and hence also on Windows 2008 R2).
    Please check with
Note 789220 - Support Package levels for Netweaver installations/upgrades
which SP level your installation has and update accordingly.
    > Other browser Firefox 4.0 I am able to login into Portal but when access user management and other tabs it says your browser doesn't support WebDynpro  Applications.. Please suggest.
Firefox 4.x is a beta browser, it's not yet released and therefore not supported.
For new installation it's always best to first install the latest patchlevels before you start configuring the system.
