  • Running Oracle tools under WINE

Has anyone had any success running windows-only Oracle tools (Discoverer Admin, Designer, etc) under WINE?
I'll be trying this shortly but i'd be grateful if anyone could post any experiences to date.
    thanks

I know of attempts to run JInitiator (a windows-executable, needed for running applets that
are used on some webpages of Oracle Apps) with Wine. It never succeeded; Wine development
was contacted but they had other priorities.
Good luck. If you succeed, I'd appreciate it if you would share this information!

  • Fast installation for oracle db under redhat linux 4 update 3

    dear sirs...
i know little about linux, however, i create a simple script that will preform pre-installation operations for linux 4 update 3. it will update the files, create oracle user, and so on. you will find its source. if possible i hope someone can upgrade this script such that there it will check the OS packages, and stop the changes if any of the packages is missing.
thanks for any help and best regards.
    notes:
1- to use this script, type the text in linux gedit. save it in a file and put the file in a safe place so that every time you want to install the db, you can find it ready.
2- do not use notepad to create the file, it will not work.
3- before you run the script, be sure that all packages needed by the db exists.
4- the script assumes that you have just installed linux for running the database only.
5- to run the script in linux , login as root user, and type . scriptfilename
6- the script should be executed only once.

    Nice.
A fair chunk of additional work would go into this to ensure that existing settings are not clobbered, but it should be OK on a new install of Linux.
Why not require that they use the DVD (so you have all RPMs on one media), cd to the RPMS directory and simply 'rpm -i' all the prereq packages? Then you don't need to 'rpm -q' and inspect the status.

  • Installation of Oracle Developer on Win XP Hangs in Net Configuration

Please ignore my previous post, it caused a problem. I guess I should not have included my log file in the message. :-)
If this the incorrect forum, please tell me the proper forum.
I downloaded and installed Oracle Developer. I installed it into its own home.
I have Oracle 9i Release 2 Enterprise and 10g Express already installed. I am currently only using 10g Express for now. And I have the Oracle Developer Tools for Visual Studio.net 2005 installed.
The installers hung during Oracle Net Services Configuration. Well, hung is the wrong word, it did not go any further. I click Stop to stop the net configuration, and click Ok to stop it. But that doesn't do anything.

    Hi
Please control all the pre-requisits in the following documentation
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/install.102/b14316/reqs.htm#i1011417

I'm more than a bit confused why anyone would be installing, 10 years after its release, a now desupported version of the product. It seems from what you posted that you are installing on an operating system version that did not exist when 9i (whatever that means - 9.0.3 or 9.2.0.5 are version numbers) was released.
I would suggest installing 10.2.0.1 on Redhat 4, 11.1.0.6 on version 5, finding an ancient version of the O/S if you want 9.x or playing games with the install to see if you can trick it into thinking you have compatibility which is generally speaking a bad idea.

  • Universal Installer refuses to run on Win 2000 Server P-II

    Hello,
I've seen this problem all over but some people tell me it should only happen with P4 chips? As soon as I plop the 9i install CD into the drive, it auto runs and I click INSTALL. Within a couple seconds, I get a message:
"The Java Runtime Environment was not found at c:\docume~1\admini~1\locals~1\temp\orainstall\jre\bin\jrew.exe. Hence, the Oracle Universal Installer cannot be run. Please visit http://www.javasoft.com and install JRE version 1.1.7 or greater and try again."
I had this problem on an existing server so I did a BRAND NEW installation of Windows 2000 Server and then applied SP3. Still same problem. The processor is a PII-366. What could be wrong?
I've followed all the steps I have found so far:
I've tried copying the install disks to the hard drive.
I've tried renaming the symcjit.dll files (all of them).
I've made sure that all the files are not read only (since they came off of
    the CD-R)
I've tried downloading various versions of the JRE (from 1.1.8 to 1.4)
I've read the installation .PDF included on the CD.
    Thanks for any suggestions.
    ...Brad

    Hi Raghavan,
Have you applied Services Pack 4 to your WIN 2K SVR installation? If not please do so. After Installation of Oracle 8i you should update the listener.ora (found under ...\<oracle home>\ora82\network\ADMIN). For further details check Oracle installation guide.
    Cheers,
    Ravi

  • Error on installing iTunes under Win 8

Error on installing iTunes under Win 8
I have recently upgraded to Win 8.  When installing iTunes the following error shows:
"An error occurred during the installation of assembly 'Microsoft.VC80.CRT.type="win32",version"8.0.50727.4053.publicKeyToken="1fc8b3b 9a1e18e3b",processorArchitecture="amd64". Please refer to Help and Support for more information HRESULT:0x80073715.
I am running the ITunes x64 install.  I have installed the V++ redistributable with no change in result.
I have subsequently downloaded and manually installed via the Apple Software update program iTunes.  However this does not allow my iPad to be connected as it is not the x64 version.

After spending an entire day on this issue, I figured out something that worked.  After installing Windows 8 (64-bit) then Visual Studio 2012 (or 2013) then the latest 64-bit iTunes app, I got the 0x80073715 error.
What finally worked for me was:
    1) Get all the Windows updates and hotfixes - especially the ones for Visual Studio.
    2) Go to http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=14431 and download the "Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Service Pack 1 Redistributable Package ATL Security Update"
    3) Only install vcredist_x64.exe.
After running these steps, I was able to completely install iTunes on my Windows 8 64-bit instance.
    Hope this helps.

  • Help needed on installation of Oracle 9i on Sun Solaris 8

    Hey,
Help needed on installation of Oracle 9i EE on Sun Solaris 8. The problem I met was: we followed the installation guide from the documentation. And we selected the choice "install software only". After it was done successfully, we run Database Configuration Assistant utility to create a database instance. But finally it always tried to create the instance at the root directory ( / ) which doesn't have enough space and then failed. The case was that we have set the enviroment parameters: $ORACLE_BASE = /export/mydata, $ORACLE_HOME = /export/apps/oracle9i. That means it should be installed at /export/mydata, but it didn't. Any help or advice are welcome. Thanks.
    Simon

I have downloaded Oracle 11G R2 version from Windows and extracted it in Windows and copied it into DVD after extraction in two folders. Now I am mounting that DVD in Solaris 10 installed in my VMware . I made a new directory named as 'installation ' under /export/home/oracle and copied the folders from DVD to 'installation' folder. Now I am entering installation folder and try to do ./runInstaller as 'oracle ' user and getting the error mentioned before.

  • PSE 7.0 Invalid Serial Number under Win 8.1

Moved from a Dell PC running Win XP SP3 to an HP with an 3.80 GHz AMD 6200 6 core processor, 10 Gb RAM running Win 8.1. Had installed PSE 7.0 four or five years ago on the Dell - it meets my limited needs and I don't really want to upgrade. I re-installed PSE 7.0 (from the Adobe download site) and registered the product on Adobe.com. However, the program refuses to accept the serial number, claiming it is "not valid." Tried Adobe chat and Manoj Kumar confirmed the serial number was valid. However, he then stated that PSE 7.0 is not supported on Win 8.1 and he is consequently unable to assist further. Since the program works fine other than for not accepting a valid serial number, I don't see that Win 8.1 is an issue. Any thoughts? Is it helpful to copy any applicable files from the old computer?

Having searched for similar issues with other PSE users, it is apparent Adobe does not intend to respond - none of the numerous questions on serial numbers have received a response. I found the answer to my question, but the solution will not help anyone who can't locate their original installation disks.
There is an apparent difference in the serial numbers that are issued on-line during product downloads and those that are printed on the box / disk sleeve. I managed to dig up the six year old install disk and initiated setup. The first pop up box requests a serial number and I entered my original number. The installation proceed without incident, other than requesting a file update which I obtained from Adobe downloads. The serial number which was rejected when downloading a copy of PSE 7.0 from Adobe works just fine in the identical disk based install.
And, a note in passing to "Manjo Kumar:" PSE 7.0 runs just fine under Win 8.1. Please stop using the excuse that Win 8.1 is not supported and give users the real answer: "If you download a copy, you need a downloaded serial number. If you originally installed from disk, you need to re-install from disk. A disk based serial number won't work on a download copy."
Short sighted attempt by Adobe to force users to purchase another copy of previously installed software.

  • How to find the Date and time of Installation of Oracle in Windows?

    Hi ,
Is there any way to find the installation Date and time of Oracle in Windows?
    Regards

If you have never recreated/restored/reincarnated the database, then CREATED column from v$database should tell you when you created the database.
If you are looking for the date/time of installation of Oracle home, check the logs under OraInventory.

  • Re: execution problem with oracle jsp under apache

i followed the instruction to install oracle jsp running on apache 1.3.9 and apacheJServ/1.1b3 under win nt 4.0 with sp5. i created a servlet zone to hold the jsp file but for some reason it will not look the the dir specified in the jserv.conf. it look at the dir under apache document root dir.. therefore, i created a dir under the apache root dir and then it was able to compile the hellouser.jsp correctly. when i run lotto.jsp, the image files would not display. why?

Apache Servlet zones allow you separate servlet (sets) into distinct classloaders. The OJSP servlet needs to exist in a servlet zone. However the content the OJSP servlet operates on (the .jsp file) lives in the document root directory just like your other web content. OJSP does support a configuration/init parameter whereby you can explicitly specify a physical directory other than what is mapped via the Apache settings. Please consult the documentation if you want to do this.
As for why the lottery images aren't being displayed, more information is needed. The generated page should create local references to the images files. Are the images in where they are expected to be? Can you be more explicit about the URI you send and the physical structure of the Lottery sample in the file system?
