Installation of PCM 11.1

We have been a 2-4 seat user of Primavera Expedition/Professional/CM since Expedition v3.0 in 1990 and, due to the economy, have not had use for it over the past couple years. We have recently been awarded a small municipal project and would like to put PCM 11.1 back to use on our original, separate old but believed to be fully functional, web / database servers running windows 2000, with intentions to upgrade with an improved economy.
Having to install from scratch, aftrer installing Sybase ASA on the Database server along with Infomaker 10.5 we then performed the Web server installation as identified in installation manuals. Upon completion we received the WARNING "The PopulateGroups Utility Failed. Rerun this utility after setup is finished."
After spending the last several days trying to locate information on the warning and trying different installation sequences without success, is there anyone out there (old Primavera Support Personnel, IT or otherwise) that can help walk us thru the installation, fill in the blanks or have some suggestions. Installation Manuals were never much help but, back in the day, the Primavera Support made up for that.
Both servers running windows 2000 sp4, IE6 (no changes since last used for EXPPro three years ago except programs were removed).
Our last support came from Primavera and are in no position to pay the unreasonable fees Oracle required to get what would amount to merely advice on software and hardware upgrades, which will require further time and money, before getting back to operational.
Please post response or send email to [email protected]
Thank you in advance.

Are the database server and the web/app server on the same machine?
This message could mean that the webserver can't make a connection to the database server. Make sure that you can connect to the database via an odbc connection from the webserver.
If that connects, try delelting the rows in the GROUP_INFO table in the EXPADMIN database. The POPULATEGROUPS utility creates records in that table and there was an issue with that utility not updating records. Deleting the records and rerunning POPULATEGROUPS used to resolve the problem

  • Can a FICO consultant setup PCM?

    Dear all PCM experts,
I am a new FICO consultant and our PM from a BW team seeking for a FICO consultant to help out in his PCM project.
I have never heard of PCM.
And I found that setting up PCM is not same as setting up FICO (SPRO) although some CO concepts might be needed. (correct me if I am wrong)
    My questions:
    1. How significant is the role of FICO consultant in setting up PCM? What should he knows or do in the project? Or is it just perform data mapping and producing Functional Specs for reports? (sorry i do not have much info on the role yet because the PM himself is not familiar with PCM)
    2. What is the prospect of PCM skills for a FICO consultant?
    Thank you.
    Best Rgds,
    Sebastian

    Hi Sebastian,
As per my idea, installation of PCM can be done by Basis consultants. Function people should perform the profitability and cost estimations by using the pre defined tasks in  PCM.
    Regards,
    Amar.

  • EPMSystem inventory does not get updated

    Hi,
I am in a weird situation where I have installed and configured Foundation Services, Calc Manager, EAS Server, EIS, ESS on a linux server. On same server I had APS and PCM components to be installed that were pending. Now that I have installed PCM and APS through the usual method of using installTool.sh and then configTool.sh to configure. Everything works fine and seems to be healthy superficially.
HSS and WS Patch were applied soon after config but before installation of PCM & APS -HSS 300 Patch 14020629 , WS 300 Patch 13936087 along with PCM pre-req that is 14521719.

How do I get out of this situation. Do we have any script or tool that can update the components? I have faced this issue multiple times I have alternative solution to this but it is ruining my inventory and washes out all the patches that were applied from the system. It might just be inventory corruption .
NOTE: Everything goes smooth if we install all the components in one go. Installing it at different time does not update the inventory I believe.
Note able to figure out this behaviour.
    Thanks in advance.

  • PCM installation on MS SQL 2008 R2

    Hi Experts,
I am installating PCM 7.5 on MS SQL 2008 R2, but it gives me an error, the message is "Failed to connect to the Primary Server. The following error occurred: 80880007 Incorrect Database Version".
Is there a new installation which works for R2 version?
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    YH Seo

The error you are receiving is usually raised because of an incorrect database script.  Did you check the output log file when you ran the script?  SAP Note [1203230|http://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/1203230] mentions this error message and how to check which script has been run in the database.
The Product Availability Matrix ([PAM|http://service.sap.com/~form/handler?_APP=00200682500000001303&_EVENT=DISP_NEW&00200682500000002804=01200314690900001423]) for PCM 7.5 provides information on compatability between OS and DB.  Also SAP Note [1562900|http://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/1562900] indicates MS SQL 2008 R2 is supported with PCM 7.5 SP12.  If you have further issues, please create a customer [message|http://service.sap.com/message] on the SAP Service Marketplace.

  • New Installation : Login Delays and Wifi Problems

    Hey There,
I just a HP Pavilion DV2850ET laptop computer and decided to run Arch on it. But I have 2 major problems as for now. I'll be very pleased if I get over them.
    1) When the kernel starts loading with vga=792 parameter on, 2 Arch Linux logo shows up instead of 1.. I don't think that this is normal.
    2) I've installed all packages with the newest ISO image release: Archlinux-i686-2007.08-2.core.iso - It's installed without any problems. When the login prompt appears (that I'm going to write root to do the rest of the installation for a while) I can't write anything for about 10-15 seconds. After the 10-15 seconds of waiting, I can write whatever I want.. But this happens all the time and I have to wait everytime I open the computer. I thought that maybe this could be something related with the kernel installed so I upgraded to testing. But nothing changed. This is the most annoying part actually..
    3) I have 07:00.0 Network controller: Intel Corporation PRO/Wireless 3945ABG Network Connection (rev 02) on the laptop. There are several modules for this card as far as I can see like: ipw3945, ipl3945, etc.. During the installation, I let hwdetect to fill modules part in rc.conf and it added these modules: sky2 iwl3945 snd-mixer-oss snd-pcm-oss snd-hwdep snd-page-alloc snd-pcm snd-timer snd snd-hda-intel soundcore - What are all these sound modules any way ? Are they really necessary ?
Here are lspci and dmesg outputs. I hope they help..

At this moment, I believe the ipw3945 module and it's deamon work better than the iwf3945. So you can start changing this. In the module line in rc.conf change iwf to ipw. In the deamons line add before the network deamon ipw3945d and youre done.
The double archlogo is standard I think, got them too

  • CD-ROM works for installer but disappears on boot

I'm having a strange issue. I got a Lenovo IdeaPad yesterday and promptly wiped vista off and installed Arch.
The install went swimmingly, but for some strange reason, the cdrom drive is not detected when I boot into Arch. I installed Arch from the CD and the device was /dev/sr0 during the installation but /dev/cdrom, /dev/dvd nor /dev/sr0 exist. I'm really confused as to why it worked during the install, but not when I booted off of my hard drive. I've updated all my packages and upgraded to to the newest kernel.
Also, the BIOS had two ATA settings: AHCI and "compatibility". I've tried both settings and tried reinstalling with both settings, but they don't appear to make a difference.

Risking the anger and wrath of the forum gods, I am bumping a verrrrry old topic.
It's close to five months since I first encountered this problem. I have waited patiently and kernel update after kernel update has brought me hope thinking that the new kernel would contain the magic fix for my problem. It's starting to get annoying, not being able to use my cdrom. So, I am once again throwing myself before the mercy of your wisdom, imploring you to supply the magic solution to my troubles.
I am once again putting debug info for good luck

It's interesting to note that 00:lf.2 is now being labeled as a SATA controller when it was being labeled as a IDE controller before (does this mean anything)?

  • Work Manager Installation Problem

    Hi Experts,
I'm currently installing PCM Version 7.5 on Windows 2008 R2 with MS SQL Server 2008.
This installation is for a demonstration system, and has all components (database, Application Server, Web Server, etc) installed on one host.
The database has installed successfully and the Msschema script has also ran successfully.
I have been able to install the Primary Application server successfully too.
I am having some difficulty with installing the Work Manager, as follows:
In the Work Manager Options screen (for reference, page 39, point 14 to 18 of the installation guide), I have entered the details as requested by the installation guide.
I have checked that the account entered is the correct administrators account and password (logged on to OS using them), I have checked that the SMTP server and port are correct and have provided the correct path for temporary storage.
The error message that I receive when selecting next is:
Invalid Workflow User - Unable to Login
    Invalid Username or Password
When referring back to the guide, the entry (point 14) is:
In the "Work Manager Options" screen, enter an Administrator user name and password in the User
    Name and Password text boxes.
I can't account for why this is not working - it is a current administrator account that I am using and the guide asks me to enter it.
Has anyone had this issue before, what did you do to overcome it?
    Thanks and regards,
    Chris

First time configuration requires use of PCM administrator account.  The username and password are administrator (lower case).  Afterwards you can log into PCM Model Builder and change the credentials.
    Thanks and best regards,

  • EPM V10 issue : Install conflict between PCM 10 & BPC 10

Our team is working on a prototype of EPM 10 solution (BPC 10 & PCM 10). We have met 2 conflicts between BPC 10 and PCM 10 at client side (Excel & Internet Explorer):
    1. There are 2 separate EPM Add-in for Microsoft Office (Excel). One for BPC and another for PCM. We should install EPM Add-in PCM at first, otherwise we can't install it after BPC. Obviously EPM Add-in for PCM is a previous version refering to that of BPC.
But after installation of EPM Add-in PCM then BPC, we lost the "Data Manager" tab in Excel ribbon.
    2. After installation PCM 10, we canu2019t access BPC via Internet Explorer any more. IE shows u201CAdd-on can not work u2026u201D. But we can open BPC Web client via Chrome. Is there any conflict of the ActiveX between PCM & BPC for IE ?
Thank you for any proposition & solution.
    Kind regards,

Maybe I don't understand your description of the problem clearly, but I want to state that there is intended to be only 1 EPM 10.0 add-in for Excel which works with both BPC and PCM.
Also since both the products you mention are in Ramp-Up currently, feel free to reach out to your customers ramp-up coach(es) to assist further.
    Best regards,

    Anyone had that strage problem?

I found out a way of adding a mute switch to controls.
    pcm.Audigy {
    type hw
    card 0
    pcm.!default {
    type softvol
    slave.pcm "Audigy"
    control {
    name "PCM"
    card 0
    resolution 2
I don't know if this is "correct," but I could add the capability for both my Master and PCM channels (not at the same time though).

  • Best way to clone a installation

    Hi
I installed and configured arch on an older machine and now would like to clone the installation (mostly because all the mail settings, etc) to a different machine... my plan was to install the basic installtion from a live cd and then copy all files from the old / .
I know there are certain files than are machine specifiic eg. /etc/fstab, the extlinux loader file etc...
so I tried to copy everything but these machine specific files, but that ruined the installation so I guess I am doing something wrong. Is there an easier way to clone the setup or did I just miss a specific file?
Does anyone have experience in this issue?
    regards,
    keen

The user issue is fine now.
I used an external hard drive to copy my old installations data and did not use
    cp -ar
so the permissions were missing. I fixed that.
I'll post my /var/log messages in a couple of minutes.
One more thing. I am a bit worried about the system I tried a pacman update und had these messages:

  • PCM Benchmarks

    Hi,
Can anyone please share information on their PCM system sizing in this thread? I have tried to locate information on PCM performance benchmarks but none seem to be available. Moreover, there is no published sizing formula available which we can use to collect information and convert it into numbers.
We have been suggested the following system sizing by one of the partners:
Application: 4 quad cores (16 cores) 32gb ram standard hard disk 500gb
Database: 2 quad core San storage 500gb expandable
Web servers: 1 quad core 16gb ram hard disk not relevant
We are going to run 3 models on these servers. We'll have 1 Primary and 2 Secondary servers. The Secondary Model servers will do the actual work, Primary won't be allocated any models.
    What is your experience?
    Thanks and regards,
    Shehryar

I work for Troygroup. Pete's question has a very simple answer. If this is Windows 7, disable UAC. You can re-enable UAC once the PCM files are installed.
If this is Windows 8, it is a bit trickier. In addition to UAC you must also click on an administration button (with the shield icon) from within the driver. I usually click the one under the sharing tab in the driver, however this requires printer sharing to be turned off in order to see this button.
If you run into this problem on Windows 8 and have trouble send me an email: [email protected]
The best way to install Troys fonts as of 2014 is to use the MICR Printer Installer that we put together. It disables UAC, installs a printer and the PCM files. You can get this from the Troygroup website.
