Installation of SDM?

I'm missing the SDM for a Solution Manager 4.0 installation. Is it possible to install this separately from the rest of the system?
A bit of background, we're getting ready to use Mimix to do data replication to a DR instance of our Solution Manager system. On the target server, instead of doing a system copy of our production Solution Manager system or a fresh Solution Manager install and clearing the database libraries, I did a crtr3sys / crtr3inst to create the instances.
I looked today to make sure the directory structure was correct prior to doing the save / restore of the database to begin replication, and I noticed that it seems the SDM is missing. Apparently the crtr3sys / crtr3inst does not install this.
Does anyone have any experience in getting a Solution Manager system to work after doing a crtr3sys / crtr3inst and then restoring the R3SIDDB and the SAPSIDDATA libraries? Did you have to install the SDM after the fact? Thank you.

I'm doing really lots of stuff, but I'm not doing ABAP & Java systems (like SolMan 4.0) homogenious systemcopy WITHOUT SAPinst !
Unfortunately, that is what you are doing here ...
SDM is not just a directory as you might think - that is the complete transport tool stuff of Java. So, I'm now sure, you are missing lots of other stuff in the Java environment.
I can only strongly suggest, to use official tools in such an envrionment - next question: That is the first time I hear from a SolMan in an HA Environment - but this might show us, that the impact of that tool becomes bigger ...

We are in process of configuring EWA report for JAVA stack of SAP system along with ABAP stack. For ABAP stack the EWA report generation is straight forward and it is working fine. I need your help to know, why i am getting this SAP J2EE ENGINE 7.00 patch level error although my Java stack is up to date with the required patches.

MS SQL Server jdbc Driver installation on XI

Hi,
I am running XI 3 on sp11 patch 1.
We need to install the MS SQL Server jdbc driver on the XI box to connect to a SQL Server 2000 SP3 Database server.
We tried installing the driver from the MS downloads website:

But this is giving us problems while installation as SDM does not like the format.
Can someone please tell us how do we install this driver?

Hi Ashish,
i assume that u already have the drivers (msbase.jar,mssqlserver.jar,msutil.jar). All u have to do is deploy them.
The procedure is:
1.Add all jars to the archive aii_af_jmsproviderlib.sda, modify the provider.xml file and WinZip the .sda file again.
 a)Copy the file: aii_af_jmsproviderlib.sda from the path ..\usr\sap\SID\DVEBMGS00\SDM\root\origin\sap.com\com.sap.aii.af.jmsproviderlib\SAP AG\3.0.20040112154003.0000. to any other drive on the server.
 b)Unzip it. After Unzipping the archive there are 2 folders created under the provided directory
 \META-INF
 \server
 c) Edit the file provider.xml
 Add the vendor specific jar file names to the provider.xml file in between the tags <jars> </jars> and Save it.
 For you it will be
 <jars>
 <jar-name>msbase.jar</jar-name>
 <jar-name>mssqlserver.jar</jar-name>
 <jar-name>msutil.jar</jar-name>
 </jars>
 d)Copy the specific driver files to the same dirctory where u have unzipped the .sda
 e)Now ZIP the following files/folders from the drive/dirctory.
 Vendor driver files
 META-INF folder
 Server folder
 The name of the zip file should be the same i.e aii_af_jmsproviderlib.sda
2.Deploy the archive aii_af_jmsproviderlib.sda on to the J2ee Engine using SDM tool.
This will solve ur problem.

IOS IPS and SDM 2.2.a

Hello everybody!,
I have installed a Cisco 2821 Router with 12.4(4)T IOS version. And SDM V2.2.a. (enteprise service IOS image).
The router have 256MB Ram and 64MB flash memory.
From the SDM Interface cannot upload any .sdf file and cannot edit the signatures and tune de IOS IPS.
Do you know how i can fix that problem?.

To add more info, here is the info on defect filed on SDM for RCP issue and workaround suggested.
Symptoms:
Issue 1) Installation of SDM version 2.2a or earlier on a router fails with RCP failure message.
Issue 2) "Load File from PC" feature of File Management dialog in SDM version 2.2a or earlier
fails.
Conditions:
These issues will be encountered for IOS images 12.4(4)T and above.
SDM uses RCP for installation operations. This problem occurs because the fix for CSCdu34824 in
recent Cisco IOS releases has changed RCP behavior. Because of this change, if the RCP client
uses a non-privileged port , the router RCP server does not respond and the above issues occur.
Workaround:
1) For Issue 1 :- Use the copy tftp flash command to copy SDM related files from PC to router.
2) For Issue 2 :- Use the copy tftp flash command to copy the required file from PC to router.

How can i do the registeration of JStartup Framework for SDM installation

when i do the registeration of JStartup Framework for a new SDM installation,an error occurred:
Invalid parameter syntax "sdmhome"

Hope you are executing the commands in the following order:
1. sdm jstartup mode=standalone
2. sdm registerjstartup sdmhome=<...> jstartupdir=<...> mshost=<...> msport=<...>
where:
 jstartupdir the directory in which the JStartup Framework software is installed
 mshost the host name of the message server
 msport the port on which the message server waits for requests
3. sdm jstartup mode=integrated

SDM deployment error during XI 3.0 installation

(nobody in the PI forum replied, so I'm reposting here)
I need to install a sandbox using this old version. Installation base is 6.40 WebAS plus Java addon SR1. System installs fine, however during final SDM deployment I get a problem during the J2EE engine restart:

Can you please check thet if you have given a central SLD then that SLD is up and running as you are getting the message.
Cannot start service com.sap.aii.af.cpa.svc; it has hard reference to service sld which is not started.
Please check this note it will solve your issue.
Note 994433 - XI AF on J2EE Engine terminates with OutOfMemoryError
you can manually start th services.

JSPM,SDM,configtool installation in Dialog instance or seperated server

Hi experts
We set up NetWeaver2004s MSCS configration(having two nodes,
first node has CI locally,and second has DI locally.
Generally CI has some special tools such as System Land Directory,SDM
JSPM,configtool and Visual Administrator...
In the case that CI is unavailable, How can we use these tools on Dialog
instance after CI crush without CI restore??
So far Ive found the installation note for Visual Administrator in another node.
But i coundnt find the installation guide for SDM,JSPM,configtool and Visual Administrator.
Any information would be help.

SDM:You can start sdm also if the j2ee server not is coming up... startserver.bat.
JSPM:You can use SDM instead JSPM.
ConfigTool:Only the database must be available. No J2EE server must running.
Basically your answers are assumed that primery server is available in OS level
with CI crash or something.
I would like to know solution against crtical situation like in the case of Hardware crush,example OS login is unavailable
SDM,JSPM,configtool is installed in CI(primery server) only, so we'd like to use
these tools in seconderly node.
If you know SAP's standard solution about how to mange sepecific tools
of CI for MSCS against CI failer, I would like to know it.

EP6 sp9 installation get stuck on "deploy via sdm/j2ee"

Hi,
I'm trying to install the ep6 SP9 after I have installed the WAS SP9 and upgrade it to SP13
Now, The installation get stuck at "deploy via sdm/j2ee" stage.
This result is the same after several attempts including shutdown and restrat the processes
There are not any errors on the installaion logs and everything looks fine
Does anybody has any idea what it wrong ?

I did saw on the java log file the following error:

java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: iaik/utils/Base64Exception
at com.sap.engine.core.configuration.impl.persistence.rdbms.DBConnectionPool.<init>(DBConnectionPool.java:108)
at com.sap.engine.core.configuration.impl.persistence.rdbms.
This is the only error message I'm getting.
The installation is being freeze for many hours and there is not any CPU load.
So I think that this message error causing the installation to freeze.
Does anyone familier with that error ?

4.Additonal J2ee engine for cluster mode - I havent installed.

SDM Standalone installation

is there any place where I can find standalone installation for Software Deployment Manager (SDM) or is comes only as an part of J2EE Engine. Thanks in advance.

You can find the SDMKIT.JAR in the following path:
Go to the Java DVD: find the folder J2EE_OSINDEP/SDM
The extract the SDMKIT.JAR
Procedure for doing this is:
Using the jar.exe present in the JDK directory extract the SDMKIT.JAR.
After extracting there will be a batch file install. Just run it. It will ask details like SDM home location etc. Give those details.
SDM will be installed
Any doubts regarding this please revert back.

In ABAP+Java system installation

Hi,
I installed ABAP+Java system On that i installed XI 3.0 SR1.I after applying the J2EERTOS11_0-20000118.SAR patch on J2EE engine.This patch consist of lot of bugs.I just stopped the installation of patch.After again when i log on to J2EE engine with port 50000.Its showing no page dispaly on localhost.I checked the J2EE instance.J2EE instance running properly.Even i can't log in to SDM and J2EE administartor.
Before patching I can able to log in.But now its loging failing.
May be the error is at 50000 port.I installed everything on one Central instance.
Need urgent reply.

i think that you want to patch your j2ee-server. Therefore you have to download four parts for PATCH SP11.
Support Packages and Patches > SAP NetWeaver > SAP NETWEAVER SAP NETWEAVER 04 > Java Server:
J2EERT11_0-10001982.SAR (Part 4/4)
SAPINST10_0-20000118.SAR
J2EERTOS11_0-20000118.SAR
CTRL<database>11_0-20000118.sar
You have to download all these files and extract then in one folder - there you have to use the sapinst and install the patch.
I hope i understood your requirement the right way.

Can not log on after successfull installation - SAP Netweaver Trial JAVA

I have successfully downloaded and installed the NW Java trial. (NW_JAVA_700SP14_SR3.rar)
I can see in SAP MMC that all the services was started. At http://vjm:50000 I can see the default page.
Unfortunately I can not log on to any page that need SAP authentication (eg. User management, NW administrator),
but can log to pages which needs just basic browser authentication (eg: Web Service Navigator, UDDI client, System Information).
The portal also does not let me log on (http://vjm:50000/irj ).
When I get the standard SAP NW log on screen, after entering Administrator with the correct master password, simply the log on screen appears again (the password field is cleared). I also tried some incorrect user name / password just to check the difference. In that case I got the correct error message.
I installed the software with WMware, Windows 2003 server, allocated enough disk space and 1.6Gbyte RAM. The installation finished without errors. Prior, I installed the MS loopback too (tried without it too). In SAP MMC everything is green, only have an open alert in J2E 00 -> Services -> Security -> Aggregated Data -> Invalid session count "262 > 200 last reported value above treshold".
I am using the standard internet explorer coming with Win2003 server.
Tried the users: Administrator, SDM, Guest, ADSUSER. I know that the password is correct, because I don't get any error if I use it, just getting the log on screen back ...
Could anyone pls help me how can I log on to the system? Or is there any security trace file or log which could help me solve this problem?
I am desperately trying to install this trial, I completely reinstalled the software 5 times but still can not use it

Hi,
is your problem persisting?
CAVE: If you use a wrong user/pw combination > 3 times the account of the user may be locked!
try j2ee_admin instead of administrator or try adm together with your Masterpassword
Do you have to specify the users pw inside the installation procedure? In "normal" installations this has to be done.
If not the pw´s in the documentation of the previous answer`may fix your problem.
The sap mmc is irrelevant for user authentication.
Green means your system is running, nothing else.
