Installation of Sol8

I am trying to install SOL8 on Sparcststion 5,with two harddrives one of ~4gb and other 700mb by using wizard and selecting custom install and after all the files have been installed when the computer is rebooted it gives an error saying bootblk not found.
The boot disk is the 4gb one.can anyone please let me know how to go about it.

What solaris 8 release are you using?
i810 video support is available by installing patches 110959-01 and
109401-06, available for download here:

Both patches were released mid-february 2001, so they are probably not included in the
solaris 8 1/2001 (or earlier) release!
Can you try to install using the "Software 1 of 2" cdrom, using the "Interactive" installation,
and at the video card / mouse / keyboard configuration screen just select the "bypass"
option. The installation continues in text mode and you should be able to complete the
installation.
Once solaris 8 x86 is installed and running (still in text mode), make sure that both of the
above mentioned patches are installed.
Login as user "root" and run "kdmconfig" to configure you i810 video hardware, mouse and
keyboard. Once the video card works OK, you can enable the GUI desktop login
using "/usr/dt/bin/dtconfig -e".

I am trying to install sun solaris 9 x86 intel platform edition on my home pc hp e-vectra, configuration is PIII 800 Mhz, 10 GB HDD, 128 MB Ram, 17" color monitor, but it giving me following error :-

I had similar problems several months ago. I suspect this happens when host pc does not have floppy drive(or bios somehow misreports it) as it was in my case. Solaris 8 seems to work fine in the same environment, so I keep using it for now. Possible workaround might be to use DCA from Solaris 8: Installation of Sol9 started just fine after I entered Sol8 DCA and asked it to boot from Sol9 CD.
Hope this problem will be fixed in subsequent Sol9 releases.

V490 sol8 no disks found

I have 2 V490, both with sol8 installed from DVDROM.
both have 2 SCSI disks installed
I run format and get the list of disks

How can I do a bare metal restore of a system if it is not back to the original hardware?
I have also deleted /dev and /devices then added a /reconfigure in the boot disk AND boot disk1 -r
but it just hangs the machine just after the copyright message
so I restore the correct /dev and /devices and boot disk1 -r again
get back to the mountall problem, give root password for system maintenance.

With the v480/490 you need to remember that the targets are on c1 NOT c0.
This has caused an issue for many people and their jumpstart installations and meta configs.
There was also a patch that corrected the instance number from c0 to c1.
Prior to the patch, the DVD ROM was NOT detected setting the targets to c0. Applying the patch and doing a reconfig reboot would cause the mount of the root volume to fail, because the /etc/vfstab or md.tab was pointing to c0 and the root disk is now at c1.
This is where the /etc/path_to_inst would come into play.

How to resolve software installation conflict

I used to install free packages from sunfreeware.com on my Solaris 8 box. Now I've downloaded Solaris Software Companion CD 07/01 from SUN. I found that the emacs (v20.7) that comes with the CD is newer than that from sunfreeware.com (emacs-20.4-sol8-sparc-local.gz) So I tried to "pkgrm" the old one and "pkgadd" the new version.
However, during "pkgadd", there is a message:

However, in my box, I've already installed "ncurses-5.2-sol8-sparc-local.gz" from sunfreeware.com and that software resides in /usr/local
Is there any way that I can install SFWemacs using SMCncurs without installing SFWncurs?

Please go to http://soldc.sun.com/support/drivers/dca_diskettes/ to download Solairs Installation bootable floppy. Then use DD to expand it to your diskette to boot your PC.

G++ Installation

I need to use a C++ compiler on my Sun Netra X1 box running Solaris 8.x. I am not able to any installed on the machine. I tried downloading gcc compliler from sunfreeware.com. But after unzipping the file gcc-3.0-sol8-sparc-local.gz, I end up with gcc-3.0-sol8-sparc-local. How do I proceed from here?.

I when I tried the pkgadd gcc-3.0-sol8-sparc-local thiking that I did not g++ installed. I found out that g++ complier was already there on the system, my PATH was not set to where it was!.
So I aborted the installation. Now the problem is that when try to use it programs compiles but I get a run time error :
ld.so.1: ./a.out: fatal: libstdc++.so.2.10.0: open failed: No such file or directory

Do I need to specify any libraries at run time?. My Path points to
/usr/bin:/usr/local/bin/:/usr/local/sbin:/usr/ccs/lib:/usr/include

Pkgadd libgcc installs nothing

I am trying to install libgcc in a non-standard directory.
# pkgadd -d /homes/jgillesp/src/gnome/2.2/pkgs/libgcc-3.3-sol8-sparc-local -R /homes/jgillesp/src/gnome/2.2pkgadd gives me warnings for every file (non links) e.g.
WARNING: /homes/jgillesp/src/gnome/2.2/usr/local/lib/libgcc_s.so.1 <not present on Read Only file system>
finishing with the message :
Installation of <SMClibgcc> was successful.
But then nothing has been installed, neither in the specified dir nor in /usr/local.
I am trying to set up a suite of gnome/gtk libraries on Solaris8 for use with networked applications. Local install is not an option.
Alternatively is there a way to extract libraries from a Sun package.

ITunes & Windows Vista Home - Error File C:\Program Data\Apple Computer\Installer\Cache\iTunes 10.5.142\iTunes.msi was rejected by digital signature policy.

I tried what the diagnostic told me to do, and repaired the installation. I was able to burn a CD in iTunes, but after I restarted, the drives have disappeared again! Here's the diagnostic info now:

I was not adding anything to Firefox. I Refused tool bars embedded in several application installs on this new computer. Was working fine. Then had a problem with Google search, restored default values and re-tooled Firefox. At this point all worked fine. TY for the reply, the information was enlightening to be sure. I never knew safe mode was an option with Firefox. I have so many tasks running that I didn't want to shut things down. What I did is turn off some of the last plug-ins I installed. That did not fix the problem at least in the first look. What happened next was very interesting none the less. I had a moment of mouse spastic wrist syndrome and accidentally moved a tab in such a way that it opened in a new window. The URL bar was white and editable. So I moved all my tabs to the new window and everything works as it should. I have restarted Firefox this morning and it came back with the bar editable and I am speechless to understand what I may have done to correct the problem if anything ??

Installation of IPC AP 7.0 Jar is getting Failed when uploading in CRM

we did some changes in the previosly uploded version of IPC AP 7.0 customer user exit Jar file in eclipse.
While uploading the new modified jar through transaction /SAPCND/UE_DEV in CRM we are getting error :" installation of module <Jar file name > has failed ".

Yesterday after Posting the thread we found the same Note ,Issue occured because of JAVA write access was not enabled on the table ,After enabling it as mentioned in SAP Note, Jar file get successfully uploaded.

Installation problem with NW'04 SR1: database connection failed

while installing NW '04 SR1 on Windows Server 2003 SP1 and MS SQL Server 2000 SP4 I ran into an error related to the database connection. While performing the step "Load Java Database content" SAPinst crashes with the message
com.sap.sql.log.OpenSQLException: Could not load class com.ddtek.jdbc.sqlserver.SQLServerDriver.
The connection to the SLQ Server with e.g. the Query Analyzer is OK. I had a problem with this installation setup before (have a look at the corresponding <a href="https://forums.sdn.sap.com/thread.jspa?threadID=338638&tstart=0">thread</a> ), the JDBC drivers where missing on the installation master but after copying them in the right direction the installation went on with no problem up to this point...
Has anybody an idea what could have happened here? Is this maybe a problem connected to the one I recently had

Flash 12.0.0.77 plugin installs to wrong folder

In Vista x64, using either Firefox 28 or Firefox 24.4 ESR, the plugin installer (one downloaded from Adobe distribution) installs the 32 bit .dll file to \system32\macromedia\flash\ folder;
installs the 64 bit .dll to: \sysWOW64\macromedia\flash\ folder. So, they're exacly reversed.
I uninstalled it completely - went well. Then removed 1 remaining file in one of the above paths, then reinstalled. Did the same thing.
Before I did all this - I was *very sporadically* seeing the FlashPlayerPlugin_12_0_0_77.exe file, running (kinda "sitting") in background, in task manager. It never came to foreground w/ a UI, asking for anything. Couldn't figure out what it was, until started looking in the installation folders.
That's what lead to discovery the files were in wrong folders.
Anyone heard of this?
BTW, "Nayana" of Adobe Support chat, is a few bricks shy of a load. Or I am. I couldn't create an acct for forums. She kept saying, you don't need an acct - "just post your question. Other people will answer it."

EDIT: Seems there's no error in Flash installing to wrong folders, only error in my brain. Why didn't someone stop me from embarrassing myself?

NOTE: I attached full FlashInstall.log earlier. I opened the 1.25 MB (text) file in an editor - copied contents to clipboard > paste to forum reply screen. Immediately locked up Firefox like a big dog. Couldn't perform any functions in Fx - not even reload or close browser. At same time, Fx memory use was continually climbing; to nearly 2 GB when I killed it. Won't make that mistake again.
Been many yrs since Fx locked up, doing anything. That aside, Adobe is definitely "different" than most forums. Almost like a person w/ no $ to use one of the many forum softwares available.

Installation problem on Solaris

I am trying to install sun one 7.0 on Solaris 8. The install is failing with this error:
ERROR - library load failed with following error: Can't load library: /opt/SUNWappserver7/lib/libinstallCore.so
INFO - End core server uninstallation
anyone know what causes this??

Looks like Solaris package installation failed and installer reverted to uninstallation sequence. For low level pkgadd log please check /var/sadm/install/logs/Sun_ONE_Application_Server_install.B<timestamp> file (timestamp is date and time of your installation attempt in mmddHHMM format).
Look for any errors in this file. Most likely thing that could have happened is that the installation of Java Help (SUNWjhrt) package failed because you didn't have existing package based J2SE installation on the system. If that's the case, workaround is to either preinstall package based J2SE installation or to selected option to install bundled J2SE that comes with application server.

Installation problem on CS4 Master Collection

WHen I attempt to install CS4 master collection on Vista Ultimate X64
While the installer is "checking system profile" the next window shows "Loading Setup"
I then get a System Check error page. The window label is "Adobe Creative Suite 4 Master Collection Installer - Alerts"
In the box it says, System Check.
Critical Errors were found in setup for Adobe Creative Suite 4 Master Collection.
Session has dependencies that cannot be satisfied.
please see the Setup log file for details. click Quit to exit Setup."
Then there is a Quit button, that is the only option.
Any ideas which services need to be enabled to be able to install creative suite?

I do have service pack 1 for vista ultimate x64.

Installation problem on AS1.0.2.1, Can you help me !

I want to install the Oracle9i AS 1.0.2.1 on my computer, my OS is Windows 2000 Professional Edition (Japanese Edition). But when I run the isetup.exe program , I got a message box, "Setup has detected that your iSuite Product Install has not been setup correctly, probably becaulse the installation was aborted. Please restart Setup." I run the setup program again ,and the same message box opened.
How can setup or configure my machine?
