Installation of solaros 10 struck at ENTER prompt

I am installing solaris 10 5/08 on x86 based SUN FIRE 4450 machine. It gives initial screens
Configuring devices.
"1. Solaris Interactive (default)
2. Custom JumpStart
3. Solaris Interactive Text (Desktop session)
4. Solaris Interactive Text (console session)
5. Apply driver updates
6. Single user shell

does not accepts 1 from keyboard and continues with default Solaris Interactive

You must respond to the first question within 30 seconds or the installer
proceeds in a non-window environment (console mode).
If the screen becomes blank or unreadable the installer proceeds in
console mode.
If the screen does not properly revert to console mode, restart the
installation and make the following selection:
Solaris Interactive Text (Console session)
Press ENTER to continue.
Now it does not accepts "ENTER" from keyboard and is struck there...What do i need to do to resolve this? What can be the problem...??
Thanks

It sounds like the keyboard is not being recognized at all. When the system starts up, are there any keyboard-related messages? Can you enter edit mode in the grub menu and type anything?

  • Hi! I have just downloaded the upgrade for LR6 (10 minutes ago) and after installation I am asked to enter the activation key but I don't have it as I have not received it by mail. What must I do? Thanks in advance for your answers. Stardiben

    Thanks in advance!

you have the purchased (not subscription) version of lr 6 (as an upgrade to lr5).
if all that is correct, then when you start your lr 6 installation you will be prompted for the lr 6 serial number.  if lr 5 is not installed you will then be prompted for your lr 5 serial number.
if you enter the correct number at the correct time, installation should proceed.

  • Solaris Installation just give me a "grub " prompt,

    Hi Solaris Experts,
Upon installing the solaris in 32 bit pc intel celeron single core, when I already boot the installation disk it just give me "grub>" prompt it will not go with the boot menu of the solaris. What will I need to do. Is there hardware compatibility?
How will I also install solaris into logical partition, is it possible? Any idea? I will mutli boot it along with other os.
    Thanks.

Otherwise, look for the HCL on BigAdmin.
From the grub command line, there are things that you can type to try to manually poke around and boot.

  • Why does Installer stay stuck on password enter screen when installing apps?

When installing apps through Installer (from .dmg disk images and .pkg packages), everything works smoothly until it asks me for a password. When I enter it, Installer goes back to the screen before it asked me for the password. When I click next, it asks me for my password, and the cycle repeats. I tried removing my password to no avail. I can install .pkg files from the sudo installer -pkg command. I dont know how to do this for installers that are in app form.

  • During the TBird installation I am asked to enter user/email/password but after repeated attempts only get error saying info incorrect.

After going through the Thunderbird setup on a Windows 8.1 computer, and after selecting IMAP instead of POP, I get to the point where it asks me to input name, email and password. However, when I do so, it invariably comes back and says my name and/or password are incorrect. Eventually, as I can go no farther in the setup process, I have to cancel out of setup. When I check for installed Thunderbird, Windows does not list it along with other programs in the add/delete window, I find no mention of Thunderbird, so I can't uninstall it. As I am attempting to use TBird with my gmail account, of course, the first time I tried this I got a snarky email from Google telling me that I was attempting to use an email client with lesser security, and giving me a link to go to if I wanted to continue with this less-secure strategy. I successfully set gmail to allow the installation of an email client, and again tried to install TBird, with the same result. I got another Google email acknowledging that I had reset my Google account to accept so-called less secure programs. Again, though, I got stymied at the same point and was again advised that the user name/email/password was in error.

I attempted to set up a Gmail account for my sister using Thunderbird to access her gmail account. I got the same result as the above message and could not get any further in the process than to be repeatedly told that the password or user name was incorrect, (which I knew they were not since that account has just recently been created). If I go directly to gmail, it will log on and allow her to view her messages easily, but attempting to use TBird it gives the same result every time. I take it that there is something going on with the authentication process in gmail, but it isn't clear to me what it means or how to deal with it in Tbird, so some clarification and elucidation would be really appreciated, she wants to use TBird since that is what she is used to and understands, and I would like to be able to insure that she can. My wife has a gmail account that is accessed through TBird and there is no problem with it and logging on to view the account, but my sisters new account is unaccessible with TBird.

  • Re: Flash 10.0.32.18 Installs OK, But I am Still Prompted to Install Flash!

I have XP Pro media version with IE6 and I have the same problem. The web sites Marlboro.com and dishnetwork tell me I don't have flashplayer installed. I use the uninstall, install, and reboot, but always the same results in the above websites. Another website tells me to go ahead if I think I have the latest version installed. This problem is extremely frustrating. Is FP being installed for IE6 somewhere the web sites don't recognize? Could this be a MS Security update result? I have no idea what to do next. Thanks. Mike

Hi mlmarg, I went to the Marlboro site and I saw the sentence about Flash Player,
etc. I am not registered there so did not go further. However, I think Marlboro is just
giving an Advisory so people will know that they need F.P. in order to view it, just
as they also advise that a high-speed connection is required.  When I some years
ago used dial-up, then I would know in advance I couldn't view Marlboro, since they
just told me high-speed was required. That's all I think that is.
Have you had time to check to see if your Add & Remove lists F.P.? I think you need
    to do this first.
    1. Go to www.adobe.com/software/flash/about. Adobe will tell you if F.P. has been
installed and will show you the version #.
    2. Then go to Tools>click on Manage add ons, look for "Shockwave Flash Object"
left click on it, then look down to the bottom right and you will see "Update Active X"
click on this, wait until the update is completed.
    3. You will need to restart your computer.
    4. Check then the sites you were having problems with and reply back.
    Hope it works!!
(note to MacnWood) I am not familiar with Mac, but am trying to help
Tatu. Have you posted your problem? I'm new here and it is easier if
you post; It's hard to keep track of things. LOL Also if someone's problem
is very similar to yours and a answer is available, we can find you too!
If I try to remember that you replied to mlmarg about a Mac, well, I'd get
    a headache!! :-)

  • I have a problem with the pop-up prompt to enter my serial number for installation, it won't pop up when I entered the redemption code. Can someone help?

I have a problem with the pop-up prompt to enter my serial number for installation, it won't pop up when I entered the redemption code. Can someone help?

There is no pop up. There is a window that is part of the installation process. If you entered a wrong number, like a redemption code, you would have wound up installing it as a trial. In that case, go to the Help menu in the editor and look for an option there.
If that isn't what you're talking about, you really need to explain in more detail.

  • Solution? CS 3/Windows 7- 64 bit installation problem

I found an answer for at least one of the MAJOR issues installing CS3 on Windows 7-64 bit ...
The problem: CS3 installation goes smoothly, but when trying to open Photoshop, you get a blank Photoshop window and an endlessly spinning curser. Also, no other programs will open, yet if you check the program files, they seem complete. You may even discover that one of the non-working programs is actually open (but not accessible to you) somewhere in the depths of your computer. An error message may eventually appear (if you are lucky), which reads something to the effect: "You cannot use this product at this time. You must repair this product by uninstalling and then reinstalling this product or contact your IT Administrator or Adobe Customer Support for help."
Check this link for the solution, which worked for me after four weeks of frustration and three Adobe problem tickets that were declared closed without resolution of this problem:
    http://www.megaleecher.net/Flexnet_Licensing_Service
Short form is that the Flexnet licensing feature for Windows 7 is not set properly and prevents CS3 from registration/activation. It must read "start" and "automatic" - not "stop" and/or "manual." You get to Flexnet Licensing as follows: Start Menu>Run> (type in) services.msc>enter
Then double click FlexnetLic in the menu, change the Stop to Start (by clicking on the word) and the Manual to Automatic. Click save. Restart computer and launch any CS3 program. This should bring up the rest of the installation process beginnning where you enter your serial number(s). From that time on, for me, everything was operational and still is (Whoopee!!!!!!)
Side Note to Adobe: When I first encountered this problem FOUR weeks ago, I talked three different times with Technical Assistance personnel. The second of these three could have solved the problem - he had the right information, as I can now see. The problem: I could NOT understand his English. His accent was very heavy and the phone connection was terrible. He struggled as I did with such simple things as the word "start" where he had to literally spell it out four times before I understood what he was saying. We eventually got to the Flexnet screen and possibly could have solved the issue right then. But the communication process was so labored that it didn't work. I'm guessing now that a step was missed somewhere, because now all is okey dokey, after using the information in the above link.

Pat, thank you for your very prompt response.
Regarding my FLF files I will try the VLC Media Player as you suggested, thank you.
Now regarding the Flash Player being a browser add on in my IE, I checked through Tools / Manage add-ons / All Add-ons and it displays only Adobe Shockwave Object from the Adobe range of products. Adobe Flash Player is not an Add-on in my system.
By uninstalling it (when I was trying to install a standalone product), did I delete this Add-on from the available Add-ons from my IE?
And if I did that, how do I reinstate it? (As you said a standalone Flash Player would have its limitations).
    I would appreciate your advice.

  • Password cannot be entered on Solaris 10

Tried several complete installations for Solaris 10 on AMD based computer. After installation is complete I cannot enter the password when prompted for it at logon.

Are you sure? The default behaviour in Solaris is not to echo anything back to you when you type your password. Just keep on typing it and finish with "enter".

  • Solaris 10 panics during reboot after successful installation

    hello,
this is the 2nd time i'm trying to make solaris 10 x86 (latest dvd version) to
run on my asus w1n laptop. /first i tried cd version in last december./
and again i'm not being successful. what happens is this:
after (i guess successful) installation the system reboots and it panics
during the boot process. where and why exactly i don't know -- it just prints
the kernel banner and i noticed a change of screen font. and when it panics i
have no time to write down or even read the message as it reboots in a second.
does anyone have an idea of what might be going on or how to overcome this
    issue pls ???
/i want to give the system a try but so far i've got no chance./
    many thanks,
    martin
ps: pls cc me as i'm not on the list. cheers.

    Martin,
as a first step, try booting with -v. This will give you more insight on just where your system panics. Obviously, your system at least gets across the point where the video driver is loaded - that's where the screen font changes.
Since you seem to be able to boot from a CD/DVD Media, you may also try to boot to single user mode from there.
Don't get confused by the absence of the usual device configuration assistant / 2nd level boot dialog screens when booting from an install media - at the point where you are prompted for an installation type you can also enter, e.g., "b -s" (without the "", of course) for a single user boot.
You may then try to look into /var/adm/messages on your hard disk installation. USUALLY, you'll find some hints towards the problem source there.
    HIH, kind regards,
    Me

  • Installation from download

Intending to install Oracle 9i on Linux Redhat from files I have downloaded.
Do I need to write the downloaded "disk" files to CDs? Otherwise how do 1 swap "disks" if I install using just downloaded files?
    JD

You can just unzip the files onto your system if you don't want to or can't burn cds. You should end up with separate directories such as Disk1, Disk2, and Disk3. When the installer finishes with Disk1, it will prompt you for the path for Disk2. All you need to do is enter the path and the installer continues.

  • [Enter] key won't work when installing Windows...

I went to install Windows XP today and once I get to the screen where it tells me to hit the enter key to start windows, my keyboard doesn't work. I was able to hit F6 earlier in the installation, so it works early on during the installation, but once I get the prompt to hit enter, nothing. Last time I installed Windows I used an external keyboard, but I'm without one. I may have to borrow one and try again.
Has this happened to anyone else?
    Bryan

Solved it! Unplug all your USB devices. For some reason, my keyboard stopped working because I had USB devices connected during the install. Once I removed all devices, I restarted it, and was able to hit the enter key and continue. Some 5 hours later I had XP Pro installed with all updates.

  • After installation - admin login fails

It appears that the installation went fine until I started the appserver and started the Administration Console . It prompts for the User Name and Password I created during the installation. However, when I enter the data, it doesn't recognize it and gives me an Authorization Failed error.
I am trying to login as admin and I know I have the password correct.
    What did I do wrong?
    -E.J.

    Is your user name correct?
Also, in order to make it absolutely sure, you can do a little trick. Create another domain with the some user name and password of your choice using asadmin create-domain command and just copy config/admin-keyfile from new domain to old domain. For details, see:

  • IEAK IE9 msi - Can not find command line to make install process passive with a reboot prompt

hey all, this seems to be something simple and I can not get it to work the way intended.   I want IE9 installer to install passively and then prompt for reboot, that's it.
I have tried using the switches for the standard exe from Microsoft but nothing allows for passive and prompt for reboot
I have now also downloaded and used IEAK and then created msi installs and selected the passive and prompt for reboot options which does not make the installer do that actual behavior by default.
So I have now actually began trying various commands with the IEAK msi files, none of which are making the behavior I desire happen, passive with prompt for reboot.
Can anyone suggest a proper command line for this?
I have essentially tried these on the different installers I have built, and sometimes entered the /passive on full installers:
    msiexec.exe filename /promptrestart
    msiexec.exe filename REBOOTPROMPT=""

    Hi,
I am afraid when using /passive options together, there would be no promote when installing.
See the instruction for /passive here:
The installer displays a progress bar to the user that indicates that an installation is in progress but no prompts or error messages are displayed to the user. The user cannot cancel the installation. Use the
/norestart or /forcerestart standard command-line options to control reboots.
If no reboot option is specified, the installer restarts the computer whenever necessary
without displaying any prompt or warning to the user.
Based on my unserstanding, when using this command option, we can only choose restart or not with the
    /norestart or /forcerestart standard command-line options
If /passive is in use, then the promote would be expected not to work. So if we would like to force install IE, then we might better schedule the install time or restart out of the work hours.
    Best regards

  • Installation from media disc

I am trying to install CS6 on a Windows system that has the proper requirements. During the install process after I have entered the serial number, my Adobe ID and picked a place to install all of the CS6 components, it starts to install gets to 2% then asks me to insert disc. The disc is already in the drive and the drive works. I reinserted the disc and hit continue and nothing happens. What is causing this or how can I get past it?
    Thanks
    Ztree11

Ztree11 it is likely your current copy of the installation files have become damaged thus prompting you to insert a disc.  I would recommend downloading a fresh copy of the installation files from Other downloads.
