Installation of SP2 requests SP1, which is already installed

When I try to install SP2, Vista (Home Premium) asks to install SP1. SP1 however is already installed. In the system log is a message with errorcode 0x800f0a05.
I've tried both with windows update, as well as with the downloaded SP2 executable (Windows6.0-KB948465-X86.exe). Both give the same result. If I try to reinstall SP1, it gives an error stating that SP1 is already installed as is confirmed by Winver (SP1: Version 6.0, build 6001). SP1 does not show up in my list of installed updates, so I cannot uninstall it and reinstall it again.
I also tried to run the System Update Readiness tool but no error or change was given in the CheckSur.log.
The CBS log gives, among a lot of opther rubish the following:

Anyone any suggestions?

Hi Gvndk,
You can try uninstalling SP1 from the command prompt:
If you cannot see the uninstall option for the Windows Vista service pack, you may still be able to uninstall the service pack at a command prompt. To do this, follow these steps:
1.
Open an elevated Command Prompt window. To do this, click Start , type command in the Start Search box, right-click CommandPrompt , and then click Run as administrator .
2.
Run the following command, as appropriate for the version of the Windows Vista service that you want to uninstall:
For Windows Vista Service Pack 1:
C:\temp\Windows6.0-KB936330-X86.exe /x:C:\temp
3.
You have to create a sandbox environment before you can continue to step 4. This helps you safely run an untrusted program. To create a sandbox, type md sandbox .
4.
To remove the Windows Vista service pack, type, or copy and paste the following command, as appropriate for the version of the Windows Vista service that you want to uninstall::
For Windows Vista Service Pack 1
start /w pkgmgr.exe /m:c:\temp\Windows6.0-KB936330-X86.cab /up /s:sandbox
5.
After Pkgmgr.exe finishes, you are prompted to restart the computer to complete the uninstall process.
If this works fine go ahead and install SP1 and then SP2 which should take care of the issue.
If not:
The only option is to Perform an inplace upgrade using the disc and then install SP1 and SP2.
Hope this helps
Regards
Anand

  • How do i update or install Windows XP sp3 onto a Windows XP sp1 which is already installed on my Imac version 10.4.11?

I really hope somebody can help me with my problem because its really getting on my nerves and im not really that "computer compatible"....... ha ha ha...
When I bought this Imac from my friend he already installed everything needed to run Windows xp BUT the problem is that it is SP1 and i want to put SP3 or if its better Windows 7 what do you think? For the last few months it really gives me a lot of errors en problems and it got VERY VERY slow now!!!
If im not wrong I know that on a normal Windows operating system when you go thru the things I when thru (errors and problems) you just backup and format and re-install the Windows?!?!?!?
AND here comes the real problem, my Mac's DVD ROM does not want to read CD's or DVD's anymore.... somehow it broke I still need to replace it...
so now I also need a way that I can do all this without a CD or DVD needed. im not shore if there may be a way to do it with a flash drive or external HDD or something...
Thank you very much if anyone can help me...

If your DVD drive no longer works then there is No way to install any Windows OS version. Apple has made it so Windows will only install from the Internal DVD drive. So you better stay with XP. Even if you wanted to upgrade to Snow Leopard you would need a working DVD drive to do that. you may be able to install Snow Leopard from an External DVD drive that connects to a USB port but I'm not sure you can use that external DVD to install Win 7.
With your system you are better off staying where you are as far as the OS X and the Windows version you are now using. Except updating XP to SP3.
If you really need Win 7, which at this time there are No programs that run on Win 7 that will not run on XP (Maybe MS Office 2013 but other then that no program NEEDS Win 7 or Win 8 to install or run) you'd be better off buying a new computer, Mac or a Win PC. If Windows is your Main Operating system then you might consider buying a Real Win PC.

  • HT1782 Is there a way to partition my bootcamp via disk utility whithout impacting the windows 8.1 which is already installed?

I have got a new macbook pro 15 with SSD - 512Gig, RAM - 16 Gig, NVIDIA GPU - 2 Gig. I basically work on windows stuff and I heard of the bootcamp support that apple provide to install windows in their models and wanted to try the best APPLE mobile PC.
    What I did:
I logged in to windows 8.1 via bootcamp and under disk management tool in windows I partitioned my bootcamp drive to add a new partition. The partition was successfully done but when I tried to bootcamp back to OSx, the diskutility did not recognise the addtional partition that i created, eventually i couldnt logon to OSx. Then I logged back in to windows 8.1 and deleted the partition and tried loggin to OSx. But now the diskutility didnot recognise any of the drives at all, and I ended up earsing all the partitions and recovered OSx via internet.
I guess the partitions cannot be modified outside the OSx itself. So is there a way to partition my bootcamp via disk utility whithout impacting the windows 8.1 which is already installed?
    Any one please help.
    Thanks in advance,
    Sreejesh.

After using BootCamp to partition a drive, the partition map is a hybrid that Disk Utility is unable to do anything with safely as far as partitioning goes.
Try Camptune from Paragon at http://www.paragon-software.com/home/camptune/ instead.

  • Yosemite/Java asks me to update to latest version of Java; which is already installed!

    Hello,
I have a mid-2010 iMac with OS X Yosemite (10.10.2) installed on it. The issue that I'm having is that I'm getting a Software Update popup that reads:
Now, how can I be asked to "update" what I ALREADY HAVE installed?? In other words it's a junk update.  I get this popup one to two times a week and I only go on my Mac perhaps 5 times a week.
Not long after updating to Java 8 Update 31 in maybe early Jan 2015 I got this popup.  I thought perhaps they had a typo on the "Update 31" part of the popup.  So I updated it a 2nd time on Jan 21st.  And now this happened today.
Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions to make this popup stop appearing for no reason?          - Rob
    System:  Mid-2010 iMac, 3.6ghz i5, 8gb, 1tb hardrive

    @ Linc Davis:
I followed the link you gave.  And downloaded using the link on that page.  The page had a link "How to install" at:
http://java.com/en/download/help/mac_install.xml   After reading the instructions to the bottom of the page I saw a link to test the installation.  So to test if I already had installed the Java that I was now downloading; I clicked the test link.  And I got this:
So aparently I do not need to install the Java I downloaded at the link you gave as I already have it!  So we're back to square one.  Why is this occuring on my system?

  • Proper installation for itunes when i hav QT already installed on my system

Oh cool to know B, thanks

... it would actually be morally justified. at the moment, i'm kind of worried that there's too much "institutional knowledge" about installations errors stuck inside my head ... so i'm trying to post things like that when i get the slightest excuse, so someone else can at least know what is going on ...

  • Office 365 installation on Windows 7 with Office 2007 already installed on it

Hello, I am planning to deploy office 365 business premium on 30 systems that are running on Windows 7 and already have Office 2007 on it. If i downloaded office 365, will it overwrite outlook 2007 with outlook 2013. Or do i have to manually uninstall
Office 2007 before installing Office 365. I am planning to do cut over migration and make the exchange 2003 server redundant.

    Hi,
If you deploy Office 365 to users, then the new Office and Office 2007 will coexist on the client.
One thing to note, as you already have Office 2007, which is 32 bit, make sure the new Office 2013 is also 32 bit.
Anyway, if the new Office has included all the applications(Word, Excel, Outlook, etc) in Office 2007, you can uninstall Office 2007 and just use Office 2013 to get a better experience.

  • The keynote opened yesterday says it needs the newest version which is already installed

Please help. I have a big keynote to present today which I showed already yesterday, and today it tells me that I need a 'newer version" of keynote in order to open this presentation. I have the latest update installed (Keynote 09 Version 5.3 (1170) )....
    It makes no sense.
    Thanks alot....

Unbelievable to me that there is no fix for this. I'm seeing it today in January 2015. Have updated Keynote every time. Have latest version. Have a document created only several months ago.  Tells me I need a newer version when I have the latest version.
    Wow.

  • Itunes 10.4.11 error saying it neds 64 bit version to connect to iphone...which i already installed

I've been transferring over all of my data to my new Asus U36JC from my old HP. Last night I got everything finally moved to outlook on this computer and my music in the right folders for itunes. When I plug in my iphone 3GS I get two error messages saying the necessary files can't be found and to run the installer to uninstall itunes and then reinstall the 64 bit version. I've uninstalled and reinstalled the 64 bit version like 5 times and with every combination of rebooting, etc....what gives? It truely seems like apple has released a bugged version of itunes 10.4.11 for windows 7...

In Disk Utility, select the iPod (the device) in the sidebar.  So, if you see the iPod in the sidbar with a "volume" indented below the iPod, select the "device" (not the volume).
Go to the Erase tab to the right.  The choice for Format is Mac OS Extended (Journaled).  Name does not matter, because iTunes will rename it during the Restore.  Click Erase.
    it "flashed" out of itunes.
That may be an issue with the USB connection.  As a test, shut down (power off) the Mac.  Disconnect other USB devices including USB hub, except for standard USB keyboard and mouse (if normally used).  SInce this is a laptop, connect it to its power adapter, so that it's not running on battery power.
Connect the iPod to a direct USB port on the Mac.  Note if there is any difference regarding the iPod not maintaining a connection.

  • Every time i sync ipad2 itunes reinstalls the apps which are already on it

Whenever I plug my ipad2 into my computer, it starts to sync and then tries to reinstall all of the apps which are already installed on the ipad2. This is ridiculus since if I have updated an app on the ipad, it deletes it off the ipad and installs the older version onto the ipad since the update hasnt transferred over to my computer yet! This is getting really frustrating because it then means every sync is taking ages. once Itunes finishes the sync it then reports that it could not install several of the apps onto the ipad because an error occurred - 0xE800002E, but when I check the ipad the apps which is says are not installed are there still.
Any help would be much appreciated because this is driving me crazy!
    Thanks

connect your device and right-click or control-click your iPod in the iTunes Source list, then choose transfer purchases from the shortcut menu that appears.

  • "msvcr100.dll is missing" + "vc++2010 already installed" = "file access right issue" ?

    Hello,
I just have a problem when starting a program in Win8, "msvcr100.dll is missing". This is not a fresh issue so I tried to download and install "VC++ 2010 redistributable package" to solve it. But when I execute the installer,
it told me that I've already installed this (well actually yes, I've installed .NET framework4.5, Visual Studio2010 for C++...).
So I suspect it's a problem of access right in Win8. I've just upgraded from win7 to win8 and I've experienced enough problem about "access right"...
So can anyone tell me what to do? Thanks a lot!
    Léo

    Hi
Firstly, please access to the path to check whether msvcr100.dll is there:C:\Windows\System32
If not, please click the link below to download VC++ 2010:

  • Mac App Store showing already installed 10.9.1 update

Hi, app store is showing me an os x mavericks 10.9.1 update which is already installed. I tried downloading it(whole OS X Mavericks installation 5,29GB), and install, but even after installing it app store is still showing me that update, and I cant remove it. Any suggestion? Thank you!

I have the same problem with iMovie. Apple has removed the Hide Update function, so you might send Apple feedback. They won't answer, but at least will know there is a problem. If enough people send feedback, it may get the problem solved sooner.
