Installation of web application Designer-urgent

Can users access only WAD without any SAP or Bex Installation.
I mean can we install WAD only without installing BEX or SAP.
Please suggest

Hi Pallavi,
WAD is a part of the BEx suite. So you need to install BEx suite and then only can you get access to the WAD.

In BW 7.0 Role Menu Web item will be replaced by the role-based display of BI content in SAP NetWeaver Portal. In addition to the pure Web-based display of BI content in roles, additional functions result from this, especially in regard to display and editing of any content in one environment.

Hi Amaranath,
U have already created a web template. run the webtemplate it will generate a Url in the internet explorer page. There are two ways.
U copy the Url which is already listed in the Internet Explorer create a url iview in the Enterprise portal and give access to the portal user.
Otherwise u can save this url as book mark also and create a url iview on the EP and give access to the iview for the relevant user.
Arrange the iview in a workset and assign the relevant workset to a user role then only the user can view the report in the EP.
More over the EP should have connectivity to the SAP BW system as well.

Variable in Web application Designer (urgent)

HI Experts,
I have a requirement where I have to print the report in PDF format where the Selected Variable will appear in the Left hand Corner of the final report output, Report name will come in the Middle, and company's logo will come in the right hand corner.
Now company's Logo and report name i can display in the report but Variable screen neither can I Add Push Button to Call Variable Screen I got a document but its not clear in it.
Please provide me the steps and please explain the procedure to add variable screen or to add a push button to Call Variable Screen.
The document I followed is "How to Enhance SAP BEx Web Analyzer (0ANALYSIS_PATTERN)"
I'm a beginner in WAD.
Points will be awarded for proper guidance.

1. Check if your variable is input-ready (if it's not - it shouldn't appear on variable screen). If yes - pls.follow
2. Try to set parameter Reset variable values - On (WAD-> your Template --> Web template parameters --> Behavior)

What GUI to use web application designer in BI 7.0 without support package

I use BI in my ECC 6.0 system.
I use tried both GUI 7.1 and GUI 6.40 to logon web application designer.
But system display the message please logon to a Netweaver BI 7.x system. System A11 does not have a mimumium version required 7007.
My system seems to be 7000, so what GUI is suitable to use for WAD?

Hi,
It could be problem with either Support package which you are using for BI or Front end patch which you need to install for GUI.
please check with minimal installations and let me know with current support package and FEP you are using.

Unable to open WAD (Web Application Designer) 3.x

Hi experts
In my computer I don´t open WAD (SAP BW 3.x)
i make click start-> programs -> Business Explorer-> Business Explorer(SAP BW 3.x)-> Web Application Designer(SAP BW 3.x)
appears following error:
This application requires Internet Explorer 5 or higher
but I have installed the Internet Explorer 8 version
then I do not understand because can´t run the WAD 3.x
Can anyone help me? please

Please run the installation check as per note 1229206 and attach the result to the message.This is typically a front end installation issue May be dhtmled.ocx is not registered on this PC This is a typical front end issue where you have to look at your GUI patch and front end patch.I recommend you deinstalling your frontend installation as follows:
- Remove your frontend via 'START' - 'PROGRAMS' - 'SAP FRONTEND' -
   'REMOVE SAP FRONTEND'
- Install the newest frontend and GUI patch and check the installation
   again with sapbexc.xla
Please run the front-end checktool SAPBEXC.XLA as per Note 197460 and
ensure there are no errors.

RSBOLAP 018 Java system error in BEx Web Application Designer

Hello,
while doing inside BEX Web Application Designer "validation of webtemplate" with
command "validate on server" I get following error message of WAD :
" Message RSBOLAP 018 description : Java system error : an Unknow Error occured during portal communication"
My procedure till now was ( please see results as screenshots in attachment) :
a) ckecking prerequisites for "Java template installer'" --> result "prerequisites.jng"
b) running "Java template installer" -> " result templateInstaller.jpg"
c) running Bex Web Application Designer as mentioned above results in error
message as mentioned above
d) running Diagnostic & Support Desktop Tool --> "result Diagnostic support desktop tool.jpg"
It says that something is wrong with "BI Mastersystem" because of failed connect to
message server.
Please advice me what I should do.

It is obvious that the connection between the ABAP and the Java is not working.
There should be a JCo RFC from the portal side to the ABAP stack set up and an RFC from the ABAP stack to the portal.
Check the entries of the table RSPOR_T_PORTAL
The RFC specified here should be the one mentioned above (ABAP - Java)
Check the name of the system should be SAP_BW
Is the parameter icm/host_name_full set on the ABAP stack with the domain name ?
Connect to the BI portal:
http://FQDN:5NN00/irj/portal
Navigate to system administration -> system configuration -> system landscape -> expand "portal content" -> systemlandscape -> SAP_BW
Right click on SAP_BW - Open - Object
Here you need to maintain these:
ITS Description - BW ABAP Logical System Name - Tx SCC4 or BD54
ITS Host Name - FQDN_OF_BW_ABAP:port - You can use the value of icm/host_name_full parameter and retrieve port number from Tx SMICM - Services
ITS Path - /sap/bc/gui/sap/its/webgui
ITS Protocol - Select http
Logical System Name - BW ABAP Logical System Name - Tx SCC4 or BD54
Logon Method -SAPLOGONTICKET
Message server - BW ABAP FQDN
SAP Client - BW ABAP Client Number
SAP System ID (SID) - BW ABAP SID
Server Port - 39NN
Web AS Description - BW ABAP Logical System Name - Tx SCC4 or BD54
Web AS Host Name - FQDN_OF_BW_ABAP:port - icm/host_name_full and retrieve port number from Tx SMICM - Services
Web AS Path - /sap/bw/BEx
If everything is set properly then do a test connection.

Information Field in Web application designer

Hi BI Gurus,
I'm working on Web application designer and new to it. I want to display the value of filter variables but without the description of it. I'm able to display the value but that's coming with description of variable that i have given in query. Please Help me out its urgent.

I used following steps :
1. dragged the information field, selected edit from context menu and choosen following options:
visibility : Visible [dropdown]
Check on Display Variables
Data Binding with my data provider DP_1
Text Element type : Variable Value.
Below that there is a option of variable , i selected it and there were 3 options present : Default value, Manual Value, Listed value
But no such option as u mentioned !
Please provide assistance regarding this.

Chart problems in Web-Application Designer

Hello,
I am trying to use CHART in Web Application Designer.
But whatever TYPE I select in that (pie/stack/..),
It shows the report with default chart type..
Then after one /two trials, I have run time error. & Web application Designer crashes. In preview of that chart on template, it shows the chart type I have selected.
What am I missing in my steps. Or is some library missing..

Defining the Width and Height of the Entire Chart
in the Properties
Enter the desired values in fields Width and Height of the window in which you are editing the chart. The entries should be in pixels.
Choose Apply.
The size of the entire chart is changed according to your specifications.
Changing the Size of the Entire Chart with the Mouse
Point to the border of the preview window with the mouse.
The cursor becomes a double arrow.
Click on the border and pull the preview window to the required size.
The size of the entire chart is changed when you let go of the mouse key.
Changing the Size of the Plot Area or the Legend with the Mouse
Click on the element whose size you want to change (plot area or legend).
The element is enclosed in a move handle.
Point to one of the move handles with the mouse.
The cursor becomes a double arrow.
If the cursor does not become a double arrow, you might not have selected the right element, for example the chart area instead of the plot area. In this case click again on the element whose size you want to change.
Click on the move handle and keep the mouse key pressed.
The cursor becomes a cross.
Pull the element to the desired size.
The size of the element is changed when you let go of the mouse key.
Avoid stretching the plot area over the whole area of the chart. The outermost border of the plot area disappears from the visible area in this case and cannot be clicked on again. You cannot change the size of the plot area. If you made the plot area too large by accident, you can undo it with the menu option Undo in the context menu. You can reset the plot area to its original size with Reset, but you will lose all the changes you made to the chart.

It is simple issue D't worry..And one morething is Check the Specific Properties of the Template in Design of the web template.

I would suggest that you search the forums first ...
1) how do we publish report developed in web application designer so that we can access it on internet. Is there any webserver offered by sap.
SAp BI comes with a ABAP Web server and a JAVA web server. You can publish the web template / report using these servers ... they can be directly accessed using the URL ( the application has a feature to execute the same in the web ) or the same can be published as a page on Enterprise portal and then accessed from there.
2) how that report will be authenticated in browser, do we have to create a login page for users or is there any built in one.
The access for the same will be through the BI login. When you execute the URL , you will be prompted to login by the server and you do not need to create a separate login page for the same. You can also access them through Enterprise portal where the user needs to login to the enterprise portal and then access all systems using a Single Sign On or SSO.
3) Does web application designer comes with Sap GUI (like bex analyzer) or do we have to install separate programme.
The front end for Web Application designing is called Web Application designer and it gets installed along with your GUI installation and you can design the templates using the same.
Note: WAD is getting phased out by Xcelsius as part of the BI BO roadmap but then with extended support you will have WAD supported till about 2016 I guess so nothing to worry right now.

Web application designer - save view, Export to excel problem

It is very urgent.
We are working in BW 3.5 version.
In web application designer save view, export to excel, export to CSV options are not working.In the report out put if i select any of these push buttons it is giving blank page.

There is a web item 'Menu bar' available in WAD 7.0.
There, you can set the Action (Command Triggered) (ACTION) property to Export Web Application and achieve the functionality of exporting to excel.

Hi Colleagues,
Here is an issue on the web application designer. i want to use the exception showing function (red light, green light) with the help of the web application designer. So firstly, i set some exception in the query and on the web application designer, i choose "exception visualization" as "symbol". Then i save the web query and execute, the exception shows, but in a arrow trend way, not the red light or the green light. It seems that the tool has by defult set arrow trend as the 'symbol'. But from the exception details, i find there are 2 options for 'symbol': status (one i want) and arrow trend. How can I change the default setting? Thanks.

You have to implement the module com.sap.ip.bi.rig.ExceptionImage.
Select the Analysis Web Item -> Web Item Parameters -> Internal Display
Select Modification -> Single Module
Implementation Name: com.sap.ip.bi.rig.ExceptionImage
Select Type as Generic Module
Set the Parameter Name based on the Alert Level set in the Query Exception.
For example :
Green      u2013 ALERT_3 (Alerts 1 to 3)
Yellow      u2013 ALERT_4 (Alerts 4 to 6)
Red     u2013 ALERT_8 (Alerts 7 to 9)
Since you want to display the Traffic lights in the Web Report, select Image as the Value from the dropdown box.
Provide the URL for the images stored in the MIME Repository depending on the Alert Level.
Green - bwmimerep:///sap/bw/mime/BEx/Icons/s_s_ledg.gif
Yellow - bwmimerep:///sap/bw/mime/BEx/Icons/s_s_ledy.gif
Red - bwmimerep:///sap/bw/mime/BEx/Icons/s_s_ledr.gif
The images will be stored in SE80 -> Mime Repository under SAP -> BW -> BEx -> Icons
Green - s_s_ledg.gif
Yellow - s_s_ledy.gif
Red - s_s_ledr.gif
The Exception Visualization drop down in Cell Content Area of the Analysis Web Item should be set to display Symbols.
If this is not set, the Report would continue to display Exception Colors in the cell background.

Web Application Designer need help ASAP

I have a requirement to customize the analysis item in a web application designer.
I have created new templetes and added a analysis with a query view as data provider .
in the output I require to hide some rows of the query view and also change the color of the text i.e the numbers.
How to modify the output of the analysis item which is coming from a query view or is there any way where I can modify the output of the web templete.

Dear Devi,
If you do not want to use the default display and behavior of the Analysis Web item, you can use the Modification parameter to change them. You can modify the table structure and the table cells.
The Modification parameter provides modules whose use can be controlled using additional parameters.
This function enables you to use similar options to those available in earlier releases with the Web Design API for Tables. Unlike the Web Design API for Tables, modifications enable you to make targeted changes to the display and behavior without any programming.
Prerequisites
The modules are the main prerequisites for making modifications to the Analysis Web item. The modules are implemented in Java. The SAP Basis infrastructure in SAP NetWeaver 7.0 does not support any customer modifications or extensions to Java coding. Customers are therefore not able to develop their own modules for modifications to the Analysis Web item.
SAP delivers a number of sample modules. You can use parameters to modify the display and behavior of these modules.
Procedure
You use the modules as follows:
       1.      Select a module from the sample modules.
       2.      Specify the module in the Modification parameter of the Analysis Web item.
       3.      Control the display and behavior of the module by specifying the module-specific parameters.
Result
The table of the Analysis Web item is displayed in an individual manner using the modules. The behavior of the table may also be different. For example, you can define commands for table cells.
Example
For example, you can define a fixed column width or display comments in cells.

Problem with layout in Web Application Designer

Hi all,
I am working with the BEx Web Application Designer. Well, I execute a web template in the browser, click on right button and choose enhanced menu, query properties and mark the check box Display Rows as Hierarchy and Expand to and from the list of values (combo-box) choose the last field that can be expanded.
Once all the lines have been expanded and the layout of the template is longer than a page, we look for a line that is not in the first page and contract it. The problem is that when we contract the line, the layout shows the first page, instead of the page where the line had been contracted. I have tried to solve this changing the properties that appear when the template is designed, but I haven´t found the solution. Is there any way so that i can solve it?

Try this out...
In the Query designer view , right click on the rows structure and select display as hierarchy. In case this option works fine , the behavior pointed out by you could be a possible bug.
Just update the result of what I have mentioned above...
