Installation on an iMac and PC
I recently downloaded and installed PSE13 on my iMac. Now I'm wondering if I am eligible to install a 2nd version on a Windows PC Laptop without buying another license.
Are you saying that a serial number that comes in a box is somehow "better" than one that comes with a download?
In Adobe's mysterious world, yes. Elements licensing is unusual even for Adobe. Downloads: platform specific. Boxed version: multi-platform.
No rhyme or reason that I can see. If anything, I would have thought it would be the other way around.
It seems that a serial number could easily work on both platforms.
We, fellow Adobe users, agree. But we're not the ones selling the product.
Can I return the download product and get my money back to go out and buy a box version?

Doesn't promoting the sale of downloads say Adobe money in production and distribution and therefore, should get preferential treatment rather than penalized.

Hi all. Is there any way to seamlessly sync an OS X installation across an iMac and a Macbook Pro, i.e. application installations, application preferences, data, etc?
If you need more background info: My 15" 2.8Ghz Core 2 Duo, 4GB RAM Unibody Macbook Pro is beach-balling a lot at the moment, and it looks like I need to face up to the fact that I'm going to need more power to keep up with my workflow. I'm tempted by a 27" iMac, but I'm pretty hooked on the Macbook Pro portability in combination with a Cinema Display. It's vital that I can easily grab my laptop from the desk and that when I open it on a train or hot desking that my workflow won't be interrupted by not having the same apps, browser bookmarks, etc. Is there any way to keep things sync'd, or am I better off upgrading my Macbook Pro to 8gb RAM and an SSD?There isn't one tool that syncs the computers however there are numerous solutions to doing some syncing. I don't believe there is a sync tool for applications though, however you can sync quite a bit. What I use are two solutions, I use Drop Box for files I want synced. This is really simple you simply store the files in your Drop Box folder and it will sync between the devices you have specified. You can get 2GB of storage for free and pay for additional storage.

Mail Accounts
Mail settings

Preferences

I recently bought a new iMac and am giving my old iMac to my brother. I read up on how to erase my information before handing it over to my brother but they process included having my installation disk. I do not have that disk. I need to erase my information and upgrade the computer.

You can call Apple Customer Support, give them the serial number of the unit and pay $16 per disk to get new copies. But they may not re-burn Tiger anymore.
If that is the case, you have to consider buying Tiger disks from an online store, or move up in the cat family.
Leopard disks only require PPC processors, and run $180 or so. Apple *may* have some Leopard in stock if you call them. Else you go online.
If the sysem has Intel processor, you can jump up to Snow Leopard, which is $29 in the Apple Online Store.

I have Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Lightroom on my MacBook Pro laptop. I bought an iMac and I'd like to move my installations to the larger display desktop for editing purposes. How can I go about transferring them?
I have the same question. It seems that Adobe is almost impossible to contact (I ended up here at the forums to ask the same question).
I will never buy another Adobe product again if I can get another program to replace it. If this is customer service then it is NON EXISTENT!
I notice that your question has not been answered and why should you have to get the information from a forum? I know of no other company that makes you do this for simple product information.
NOT HAPPY with this version of arrogant customer service (nor am I happy about renting Photoshop products into the future - it is just a money grab in my opinion). I will be voting with my feet and going elsewhere in future. -
I just bought a new iMac and am having troubles downloading creative cloud installer. Its coming up with error 214 - I can't find any solutions for this. Can anyone help me? Im on mac OS 10.9.4
Meg81 error 214 indicates a download data validation error. This means that the update you downloaded became corrupted likely during the download process. I would recommend utilizing the suggestions listed in Error downloading Creative Cloud applications - http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/kb/error-downloading-cc-apps.html to attempt to improve the stability of your Internet connection.
You can also find information on how to review your download logs which may provide additional information regarding the failure of the download. -
I just purchase an iMac and an HP LaserJet M1217nfw printer. I could not install with the installation disk that was furnished by HP. This is my first Mac product and I'm just not sure what I'm doing...help! I don't know if it's a mountain lion, a tiger, or a dog! The box says OS X. I really need help. Thanks for your time.
What Mac operating system are you running on your iMac?
Are you certain they're compatible?
Have you checked with HP to see if there's a newer driver?

In addition, I haven't loaded on any software with my last 3 printers. They just work without them, IMHO.

Last week I've install Mac OS X Mountain Lion and then after the installation finish my IMAC start up in verbose mode. How can I turn off this mode and start my IMAC normally. I've try to key in the code "sudo nvram boot-args=" in terminal also.

Shut down the computer.
Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command, Option, P and R.
You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously in step 4.
Turn on the computer.
Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys. You must press this key combination before the gray screen appears.
Hold the keys down until the computer restarts and you hear the startup sound for the second time.
Release the keys. -
I previously bought Aperture 3 and installed in on an iMac and a MBP. I just bought a new MBA to replace the MBP, but the MBA doesn't have enough memory for me to do a complete restore of the MBP on the MBA. So I am trying to find a way to deactivate the serial code or Aperture 3 on the MBP so I can reinstall Aperture 3 on the MBA. I have been searching forums and google and I have not been any answers. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
How did you buy Aperture? Did you buy it from the App Store? Then you can download it again on your MBA, if you sign into the App Store.
If you bought Aperture buy buying a licence key to unlock the trial, try if this download link for the trial version still works: if yes, you can unlock it with your serial number:

And if you own the boxed DVD installer , use the DVD to install Aperture on your MBA. If the installer does not work - and you get the message
"check with the developer to make sure Aperture works with this version of Mac OS X"
you may have a problem with an expired developer certificate (they expired mid march).
To fix this, set the Date in " SystemPreferences -> Date&Time" to a date well before March 2012 and run the Installer again. If that succeeds and Aperture now runs, reset the date to the current date.
You can see your serial number in the "About" panel in the main Aperture menu bar on your MBP:
Aperture > About Aperture.
For the "invaldid serial number" see these links: You may have read the letters incorrectly - some are look alike, "1" or "I", "0" or "O"; your shift-lock key may be set.

That is precisely the WRONG thing to do. You should never delete, but uninstall.
Now you need to look for, download and run the Adobe CS Cleaner tool. -

What has the Apple support team done to the Top Sites screen? I just accepted an automatic update to be downloaded to my iMAC, and as a result of this "fix installation" the layout of the Top Sites screen has been terribly "destroyed"! What's the idea?

Problems with new iMac and Adobe Creative Suite 2
Just wondering if anyone can help me out. I am a Graphic Design student and just bought Adobe Creative Suite2. I installed it on my new iMac, and it wouldn't open InDesign or Photoshop although I had no problems with Acrobat and Illustrator. A pop-up window stated that the program "unexpectedly quit". I have uninstalled and reinstalled three times and was on hold with Adobe Tech Support for three hours until I finally gave up. If anyone knows what's going on I would appreciate it!
I dragged the installer from the install disk to my desktop and was more successful in installing problem CS2 apps. Make sure to update everything as well. Some times it takes a restart to get the finickiness out of PS.

I've recently been given a macbook pro from uni, with lots of adobe software on. I want to pair it with my iMac which has music etc and is it possible to get the software to the imac and the files to the macbook?Giving me the best of both :-)
You would need the original installation disks or files for the Adobe software to get it onto your iMac, and having it on two computers may not be allowed by your university's licensing. Talk to whoever issued the MacBook.
As to the music, just copy it over to the MacBook, either via Home Sharing, file sharing, or an external storage medium (hard drive, USB flash drive, etc.).

I have a mid 2012 non retina 15inch macbook pro, and a 27inch 2012 imac, and a 27inch thunderbolt dsplay and I want to use the imac and the thunderbolt display as dual monitors for my macbook pro and daisy chain them together. I have an extra thunderbolt cable, How would I go about doing this, every time I try to connect it via Target Display mode it only shows up on the imac and the thunderbolt diplay shows the imac screen but I cannot access anything on it. I would love some help, I am probably just missing something simple.
Yes there is on Mac computers that do not come from the factory with "Built In", Note the Words Built In, DVD drive.
On all Mac computers that come with Built In DVD drive Apple has Restricted the installation of Windows from ONLY That Built In drive and Only when it is Physically installed inside the system.
Many people have tried what you want to do and to my knowledge None have been successful.
It is something that is Hard Wired, Written, into the Firmware of these Mac computers.
Some have tried installing Windows on the standard HDD and then moving that HDD to the optical bay or leaving it in the main bay and installing a SSD into either the main drive bay or optical bay and have been greeted with the system not booting to either OS or not booting to Windows.
Something about how boot camp sets up the drive and possibly makes changes to the Firmware or EFI partition on the drive that Windows is installed to or to both that restrict it. You can't even make another Mac OS X partition on that drive without screwing up the Windows install.
To your last post the Answer is NO as stated above.
