Installation on clients machine

Hi,
I am a freelance web designer and was hoping that Contribute
would be the CM programme I was after to allow my clients to take
care of the regurly updated pages on their websites.
I thought initially that Contribute would allow my clients to
edit their site through a browser but this is not the case.
I have discovered through the forums that my client needs to
install Contribute on their machine.
Does my client therefore have to pay for the complate licence
of the programme? Or does my licence cover their use and if so,
would they use my programme disc to install it on their machine?
Many thanks in advance for any help,
Mat: confused;

Hello matrutherford,
Contribute makes use of per seat license agreement. Hence you
should be buying
Contribute for all users !

  • Delegate Ad users only installation rights on client Machines

    Hi Everyone,
I want to delegate a Ad user to only install/ Uninstall rights?... Is is possible?
    Please help....
    Thanks and Regards

    Hi,
To solve your requirement, you can add that AD user to "Power Users" group in a client machine for allowing software installation.

  • Creation of CSV file on client machine with data from forms

    Hi,
My requirement is to generate a CSV file(or .XLS) on the client machine ie local drive with the details shown in a form.
    Oracle version -
Oracle Database 11g Enterprise Edition Release 11.1.0.7.0 - 64bit Production
    PL/SQL Release 11.1.0.7.0 - Production
    CORE 11.1.0.7.0 Production
TNS for Solaris: Version 11.1.0.7.0 - Production
    NLSRTL Version 11.1.0.7.0 - Production.
I have searched the web for last couple of days and got to know that TEXT_IO is to be used to generate files on client machine. However, when I tried TEXT_IO, it was not able to generate the file on client rather it was able to generate on database server. After further browsing on this, there was a link which said that we need to use CLIENT_TEXT_IO to generate file on client side. For this, i was required to subclass the webutil.pll which i did and corrected the code to use CLIENT_TEXT_IO. The form was unable to compile and was not able to find "webutil_core" package.
I am very confused with the disparity in the information available on the web as in what to use to generate a file on client side. If anyone has use it in the past, can he/she please detail what to use to get things sorted.
    Thanks,
    R

So, what is your FORMS version. This is more important than your database version.
My requirement is to generate a CSV file(or .XLS) on the client machine ie local drive with the details shown in a form. Depending on your Forms version, you would use TEXT_IO (if Forms 6i running in Client/Server mode) or WebUtil (if Forms 9i or higher).
I'm going to guess that you are at least using Oracle Forms 9i since you stated that your attempt at using TEXT_IO produced a file on the DB server.
There is more to using WebUtil than just attaching the WEBUTIL.PLL. If you had performed a simple search of the Forms Help System would have found numerous WebUtil topics to include: Introduction to WebUtil, Configuring WebUtil, Using WebUtil in Your Applications and the WebUtil User's Guide. If you have Oracle Forms release 10g or higher, WebUtil is included when you installed Forms, however, you do need to configure your installation to use WebUtil and you must download the Java COM Bridge (jacob.jar) from Source Forge. Take a look at the Configuring WebUtil Forms Help topic to find out which version of the Java COM Bridge you will need to download.
After you have successfully configured WebUtil, take a look at the Using WebUtil in Your Applications topic to find out how to implement WebUtil in a form.
Searching the Internet for answers is great, but don't forget the look at the Forms Help System because the majority of your questions can be answered there. :)
Lastly, configuration of WebUtil is primarily done on your Application Server (AS). However, if you plan to perform preliminary runtime testing by running your Form from the Forms Builder, then you will configure your local runtime to support WebUtil as well as configure your AS. The steps are exactly the same. A common mis-step is to skip a step during the configuration because you don't think the step applies. Take a look at the Forms Help Runtime Setup Checklist topic for a list of step you need to complete in order to enable WebUtil.
    Hope this helps,
    Craig B-)

  • Web Forms Not working on Client Machines with Separate Win

    Hi friends,
We deployed all our Forms on web and we are using Developer
    Server 6.0 ,OAS 4.07, Oracle Jinitator 1.1.7.18 ,Netscape 4.7
    Browser
My problem is we configured forms to open in a separate window
this is giving problems on Client Machines they are getting a
blank screen ,previously we used to open forms in the same window
(browser ) at that time we didn't get any problem.
We are using Oracle Jinitiator 1.1.7.18 & Netscape 4.7 as
    browser on Client Machines.
    Thanks in Advance...!

JInitiator will be downloaded only once - the first time when u connect to a web-forms application. After that - no problem. It is true that the first time it takes a little bit longer, but I think forms are working better using JInitiator. However - it is just a matter of settings how u will make your application to run. Oracle did great improvement of the speed introducing the forms servlet listener. I would expect even better performance with Forms9i. And Win2000 is not a problem, but combination between Win2000 and Pentium4 is. There is a way to avoid your (installation) problems however.

  • Run MS Windows executable on client machine

    Hi All,
I am using Dev9i. My client machines will be MS Windows. My Forms will execute over the web. I need to have a Form read the client machine MAC Address and display it in the Form. There is an executable on the client machines, getmac.exe that when run returns the MAC Address.
So my user will bring up his browser and give the URL of my form, then the Form should run 'getmac.exe' on the client somehow and display the string that getmac returns. It also has to send the MAC to the db but I can handle that part.
Does anyone know how I would go about doing this?
    Thanks

I found installing WebUtil to be a straightforward exercise. The Installation checklist is comprehensive, and if you follow it mechanically you should be alright. If you feel really lost in the world of web-deployment and Forms Server architecture then you should hop over to the Forms Upgrade Centre and read some of the white papers.
Having said that, No 7 Appendix A is simply asking you to add the location of the webutil directory. It even gives a cross-reference to the relevant page in the main body of the manual. You've already found the right section in the right file, what don't you know what to do? Copy is Crtl+C, paste is Crtl+V ;)
As for installation options, you only need to worry about them if you want to download an executable. Do all your users already have getmac.exe? If so, forget about it. If you have new users then the process is simple. Add a new line mimicing the example given in the Manual, only with getmac.exe in the name and the size of getmac.exe in the size (you can find this by rightclicking on the getmac.exe and looking at its properties. Make sure that a copy of getmac.exe is in the webutil/libs directory.
Being able to do this sort of configuration is going to be a vital skill in iour industry for the next few years. Increasingly, applications are built out of components from various sources that have been stitched together - some of the stitching can be quite crude (take a bow O9iAS R2 - only joking!). Eventually, there will be GUI tools to manage the myriad configuration files from a single point. Until then, MetaPad or Vi are going to be your best friends.
    Good luck, APC

  • Client machine not reporting to wsus server

My server Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard x 64 virtual machine install in Hyper-v server and Install SCE management version 2010.
in sudden server stopped sending updated to client machine. So I check many and did many changed as per MS community forums. But still I have same issue.
Then I planned to install again SCE management server in different VM. But even though I am getting error that old SCE management server is existing in my domain.  Therefore I am afraid to change or remove any setting in AD since I have short
    of knowledge about SCE servers.
However my SCE server was working smoothly until 11-2013 and then suddenly stuck. When I check the server machine I found that local drive C: is getting full and SCE management is fail to start. So from that to now when ever I had free time I changed
many things. But unfortunately I couldn't get the sever back to normal.
Few changes which I made are below.
    - Remove and reinstall WAUS several times
    - Check online update and direct updated server SCE machine without getting updated from SCE
    - Remove dotnet frame work and updated version 4
    - product configuration wizard reconfigure
    - Repair management agent in client machine.
Kindly help for me to repair my SCE server or make another installation without having change of settings.
It would be highly appreciated if you could resolve issue

Can you try the below to reset the authorization and force a connection back from one of the win 7 machines:
it should help pinpoint exact issues.
    1. Record the system time.
    2. Reboot the system (or restart the Windows Update service).
    3. After reboot run the command wuauclt
    /resetauthorization /detectnow.
    4. Wait 30 minutes.
    5. Post the entries from the WindowsUpdate.log starting at the time recorded in Step #1.
Do you have any Windows 7 machines that are reporting? Are other machines with different operating systems reporting correctly?

What is the OS version of the PC you are running  and is it physical machine or virtual machine that is running the HRC client ..
OS Version Windows 7 Home Premium  64 bit and it’s a physical machine.
. The Max DB Connections for Report Client Sessions is set to 5 for each servers (There are two servers). The no of HR Sessions is set to 10.
I wanted to know if there is a way to find the HRC sessions active now and terminate the one or more or all of that sessions from the server end ?

We have had this "PRX5" problem with Exchange 2013 since the RTM version.  We recently applied CU3, and it did not correct the problem.  We have seen this problem on every Exchange 2013 we manage.  They are all installations where all roles
are installed on the same Windows server, and in our case, they are all Windows virtual machines using Windows 2012 Hyper-V.
We have tried all the "this fixed it for me" solutions regarding DNS, network cards, host file entries and so forth.  None of those "solutions" made any difference whatsoever.  The occurrence of the temporary error PRX5 seems totally random.
About 2 out of 20 incoming mail test by Microsoft Connectivity Analyzer fail with this PRX5 error.
Most people don't ever notice the issue because remote mail servers retry the connection later.  However, telephone voice mail systems that forward voice message files to email, or other such applications such as your scanner, often don't retry and
simply fail.  Our phone system actually disables all further attempts to send voice mail to a particular user if the PRX5 error is returned when the email is sent by the phone system.
Is Microsoft totally oblivious to this problem?
PRX5 is a serious issue that needs an Exchange team resolution, or at least an acknowledgement that the problem actually does exist and has negative consequences for proper mail flow.

  • How can I install a jre on client machines with no Internet Access

    Hi
I have a lot of client machines located throughout the country which are connected to a central network (Oracle) application server. The client machines do not have internet access. The application now uses an applet which is accessible from the network. I would like to use the <jsp:plugin> tag to automatically download and install a jre on the client browsers that don't have a jre installed, when they access the jsp page. Unfortunately, even using iepluginurl="http://server-address/jinstall-1_4_2-windows-i586.cab, the client machines still need to access the internet to install the JRE as the cab file needs to access files at the Sun site.
Is there any online jre installer, that can be used on a network where the client machines do not have internet access? Or do I need to install the JRE manually on each machine? The browsers are all Microsoft Internet Explorer.
    Thanks
    David

    Thanks for your reply ChuckBing.
Unfortunately I had already copied the instructions I found in the Sun documentaion to the letter and it still needed access to the internet. In the end I solved the problem by pointing the iepluginurl to a non existent file and putting a URL, pointing to an offline JRE executable on the server, as the message that appears when the applet cannot be loaded. The clients then have the choice of downloading the JRE or installing it online by clicking on the URL.
    Thanks anyway.
    David

  • How do I install (just the required assembles without server licence) client library to a client machine so that I can invoke SSIS/SSAS 2012 remotely?

We are trying to figure the easiest way to install client lib on a machine to call SSIS/SSAS remotely (to a SQL Server 2012).
We have some .net code referencing SMO/AMO and Microsoft.SqlServer.Management.IntegrationServices.
    1) For SMO, I found out this and it is quite clear about how to install on a client machine:
Installing SMO (SQL Server Management Objects (SMO))
    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms162189(v=sql.110).aspx
    2) For AMO (analysis management object), I found out this but I did not see a clear instruciton of what and how to install on the client machine:
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms124924(v=sql.110).aspx
    3) For SSIS call, I did not find anything talking about the client installation.
    Can someone help us?
    Thanks.

    Hi Sofiya,
Thank you so much for your help.
For SSIS call, we are using
    Microsoft.SqlServer.Management.IntegrationServices.dll
to call package deployed to SSISDB catalog at remote server using some .net codes.
    I have few questions:
    1) What is the difference between
    Microsoft.SqlServer.Management.IntegrationServices.dll
    and the dll you mentioned:
    Microsoft.SqlServer.IntegrationServices.Server.dll
    2) If we install SSMS, can we also get Microsoft.SqlServer.Management.IntegrationServices.dll? Put another way, if we install SSMS, will Microsoft.SqlServer.Management.IntegrationServices.dll be registeredin GAC?
    3) If we install  Microsoft.SqlServer.Management.IntegrationServices.dll at client machine, I assume we don't need to licence it. (Note: SSIS package itself will be running from the remote server, NOT the client machine which is used to invoke
    the SQL 2012 packages).
    Best regards,
    Steven Rao
    Hi Steven Rao,
Yes, you are right. When you want to start a SSIS 2012 package from a .Net application,
you need to reference the assembly of Microsoft.SqlServer.Management.IntegrationServices .dll. The Microsoft.SqlServer.Management.IntegrationServices namespace contains the classes and interfaces to manage the Integration Services catalog
on an instance of SQL Server. It is only available in the GAC. For more information, see:
    http://microsoft-ssis.blogspot.com/2013/01/call-ssis-2012-package-within-net.html
I also do a test, if you  install the media of SQL Server Management Studio, usually, these assemblies are located in following folder as screenshot.
    In the folder,  C:\Windows\assembly

Q: I am familiar with SQL Server's .NET data provider, but am new to Oracle. Is it easy to learn to use ODP.NET?
A: Yes. ODP.NET inherits from all the ADO.NET base classes, which is what SQL Server's .NET data provider, SqlClient, is based upon. The ADO.NET constructors, methods, and properties that you use with SQL Server will be the same with Oracle. For many applications, the only notable differences will be having all objects that were preceded with "Sql", such as SqlConnection, be preceded by "Oracle", such as OracleConnection, and accounting for differences between Oracle and SQL Server database data types, SQL, and stored procedure calls.
Q: What are the different ways Oracle integrates with Microsoft .NET?
A: Oracle integrates with .NET in a number of ways. For optimized .NET data access, ODP.NET enables access to all of the Oracle database's advanced features, such as RAC and XML DB, while ensuring the fastest performance from the .NET Framework.
For .NET development tools that make Oracle easier to use, the Oracle Developer Tools for Visual Studio .NET provide wizards and designers that auto-generate ODP.NET code and can browse and edit schemas and stored procedures. Additionally, it includes a Data Window to modify and view data and context-sensitive help.
Beginning with Oracle Database 10g Release 2, developers can build and deploy .NET stored procedures for their Oracle database.
For application integration, web services can facilitate integration between your existing Oracle and .NET applications.
Q: Where can I find ODP.NET help and sample code?
A: ODP.NET documentation is available from within Visual Studio .NET using Dynamic Help. Just hit the F1 key when your cursor is on an ODP.NET API and a help page for that API will appear right within Visual Studio .NET.
Additional ODP.NET documentation is available both locally installed and from the ODP.NET documentation page.
Sample code can be found both locally as part of the ODP.NET installation (e.g. c:\oracle\<Oracle Home Name>\ODP.NET\samples) and on ODP.NET samples page.
ODP.NET users can ask questions on the ODP.NET discussion forum.
Q: I have ODP.NET installed, but I can't find the ODP.NET Dynamic Help. Where is it?
A: This behavior sometimes occurs when installing new Visual Studio .NET versions over an ODP.NET installation. To enable ODP.NET Dynamic Help, go to Visual Studio .NET Combined Help Collection Manager located in Visual Studio .NET 2002 or Visual Studio .NET 2003. Make sure the box next to the Oracle Data Provider for .NET Help is checked and click on the Update VSCC button. Close Visual Studio .NET and re-open it to enable ODP.NET Dynamic Help.
Note: Because of security restrictions, you may need to copy and paste the links above to a browser, rather than clicking on them. Once copied to a local browser, if you have a Windows service pack that prevents active content (e.g. Windows XP service pack 2), you will need to allow active content to view the complete page. To do this, click on the yellow bar at the top of the Visual Studio .NET Combined Help Collection Manager page, which indicates active content has been blocked. Select "Allow Blocked Content". A security warning will show up. Click "Yes" and you will be able to view the page in its entirety, including having the option to incorporate the Oracle Data Provider for .NET Help into Visual Studio .NET.
Q: What are the new features in this version of ODP.NET?
    A:
    ODP.NET 10.2.0.1.0
Server-side ODP.NET for .NET stored procedures
RAC client-side connection load balancing and automatic connection cleanup
    Database Change Notification
LOB and LONG retrieval - faster data retrieval, InitialLOBFetchSize can be up to 2GB, and full LOB functionality when InitialLOBFetchSize > 0 (i.e. GetOracleClob and GetOracleBlob methods are enabled). These same features are now enabled with LONGs with its respective APIs.
Connection Pool Management - explicitly clear connection pool(s)
Client Identifier property for supporting application context security, such as with VPD
    Input REF Cursor parameters
    ODP.NET 10.1.0.3.0
    Statement caching
DeriveParameters - automatic population of stored procedure parameters
    Cancel long running queries
ADO.Net 1.1 interfaces - HasRows and EnlistDistributedTransaction properties
LOB and LONG retrieval - Entire LOB and LONG column data can be retrieved even if the select list does not contain a primary key, ROWID, or unique key.
    ODP.NET 10.1.0.2.0
    Grid support
    Schema-based XMLType
    BINARY_FLOAT and BINARY_DOUBLE datatypes
    Multiple Oracle Homes
    ODP.NET 9.2.0.4.01
Improved XML DB and XMLType support
    PL/SQL associative arrays
    connection pool validation
InitialLOBFetchSize property to improve LOB retrieval performance
Q: How do I make a feature enhancement request for ODP.NET?
A: You can contact Oracle Support or use the ODP.NET discussion forum to make an enhancement request.
Q: What features will ODP.NET support in future releases?
A: In general, Oracle does not discuss features in future product releases until the release date nears. We are well aware of enhancement requests made through the ODP.NET discussion forum and Oracle support. We encourage Oracle users to continue to make their requests known. Oracle will do its best to fulfill these requests in future releases.
Q: Do I need to install ODP.NET on my Oracle database server?
A: No. You only need to install ODP.NET for running client or middle-tier .NET applications. The exception is if you are using .NET stored procedures in the database server. The server-side ODP.NET provider will automatically be installed with the Oracle Database Extensions for .NET.
Q: Can ODP.NET work with Oracle8, Oracle8i, Oracle9i, and Oracle10g database (DB) servers? Can these DB servers be on Linux or Unix?
A: Yes and yes. Oracle clients can support older and newer versions of the Oracle database. Consult the Oracle on Windows FAQ for more information.
Oracle clients on Windows can work with Oracle database servers on any platform.
    Q: Can ODP.NET be used with an Oracle8, Oracle8i, or Oracle9i Release 1 client?
A: No. You need to use the Oracle9i Release 2 or higher client.
Q: What do I need to have installed on my client machine to have ODP.NET work?
What needs to be on a client machine when running an application compiled with the 10g ODP.NET?
The FAQ states the following :-
A: You will require the following:
Windows 2000, Windows XP Professional, or Windows Server 2003
Microsoft .NET Framework 1.0 or higher
    Oracle9i Client Release 2 (9.2) or higher
Oracle Net Services (included with the client)
Oracle Services for Microsoft Transaction Server, Release 2 (9.2) or higher. This is required for applications using distributed transacations.
This implies that ODP.NET does NOT need to be installed on a client. However, I cannot find OraOPs9.dll on a machine with Client Release 9.2 installed. Should OraOps?.dll automatically come with a Client installation of 9.2 or higher?
Also, if an application is built with the 10g ODP.NET, can it be run from a machine with OraOps9.dll?
I'd be very grateful for anyone who can clear up my confusion.
    Mick

This implies that ODP.NET does NOT need to be installed on a client. However, I cannot find OraOPs9.dll on a machine with Client Release 9.2 installed. Should OraOps?.dll automatically come with a Client installation of 9.2 or higher?
ODP.NET needs to be installed on the client. OraOps9.dll is part of ODP.NET, not the Oracle Client.
Also, if an application is built with the 10g ODP.NET, can it be run from a machine with OraOps9.dll?
If an application is built with 10g ODP.NET, it can be run with 9.2 ODP.NET as long as you do not use any 10g APIs. The new features in 10g ODP.NET are included in the doc and the ODP.NET FAQ for your reference.

as per updatedeployment.log it seems that you have targetted non mandatory deployment & it has reached to clients. to see sccm software update icon you need to login into console session (mstsc /console).

  • Edit init.ora at host or client machine ?

    Hi all,
i am trying to use UTL_FILE to write errors to a log file if an exception is encountered when running a stored procedure . I call the stored procedure from a client machine
    I have some basic qns:
    1) Can the log file exist on the client server or it has to be on the server machine?
2)i know i have to edit the init.ora file to include the directory where the file exists. Should i edit the init.ora file on the client or the server?
I believe if the qn to (1) is server machine, then naturally the ans to (2) should also be server?

I believe if the qn to (1) is server machine, then naturally the ans to (2) should also be server? Yes,you are right, and don't confuse between server and client, because init.ora always exists on server machine ,and its not part of client installation.

  • Do I need ACF on each client machine to enable Interactive forms within WDJ

    hello All,
I want to integrate the Interactive Forms in some of my Web Dynpro JAVA Applications, which in turn will be run inside a Portal.
Wanted to know if installing the ACF on each client machine is a pre-requisite to view the PDFs directly inside the EP screen.
The EP version is 7.00 SP18. We do have the ADS configured in one of the server.
I know ACF was required on each client machine for EP 6.0, not sure about the 7.0 version though.
Where can I see the pre-requisites for using ADF forms within WDJ?
    Any pointer is greatly appreciated.
    Thanks

    Sandip,
Do refer [this|http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70/helpdata/EN/2c/241a427ff6db2ce10000000a1550b0/frameset.htm] link. It has the information you need. Short text from the same link
"Interactive forms in the ISR framework are part of ZCI. They can be used as of SAP NetWeaver SPS 10 at runtime in Web Dynpro for ABAP based on Zero Client Installation (ZCI). To enable this, the forms must contain special scripting, which you insert when you create new forms in Form Builder.
Until now, you needed to install Active Component Framework (ACF) on the front-end PC to use interactive forms. As of SAP NetWeaver 7.0 SPS10, ZCI enables you to use interactive forms in Adobe Reader without any additional plug-ins. ACF is therefore no longer required for interactive forms."
So you can conclude that you wouldnt need the ACF plugin on each client PC.
    Thanks,

If you just need the Run Time Client for Essbase installed on a machine, the easiest and quickest way to get it done is by using the installation for the Excel Addin. It is a much smaller and will install more quickly.Depends on version, in version 11 the standalone excel addin does not include the client as part of the installation.

  • How To Install Only DAC Client 10.1.3.4.1 on Windows Client Machine

    Hi,
I want to install ONLY the DAC 10.1.3.4.1 client on my Windows client machine.
However, when I launch the Oracle Universal Installer the install options are greyed out and I'm forced to install both the Client and Server products.
I don't want to do this.
Please suggest me how do I go about this issue.
    Thanks.

In version 7.9.5.1 the instructions say to:
You must satisfy the following requirements on the machine on which you want to
    install an additional DAC Client:
    ■ JDK 1.5 or higher must be installed. For more information, see Section 4.3.4.5,
"Download and Install the Java JDK".
    ■ The appropriate ODBC database connection must be created on the machine. For
more information, see Section 4.3.4.3, "Create ODBC Database Connections".
    ■ Download the Hibernate files from the Hibernate Web site. For more information,
see Section 4.3.4.6, "Download Hibernate Libraries".
To install an additional instance of the DAC Client on Windows
    1. Copy the \OracleBI\DAC\ directory and its subfolders from the Oracle BI
Applications installation (on Windows) to the target Windows machine (for
example, to a directory called \DAC\).
    2. Copy the \OracleBI\dwrep\ directory and its subfolders from the Oracle BI
Applications installation (on Windows) to the target Windows machine.
Note: Alternatively, if the target machine already has Oracle Business Intelligence
Enterprise Edition installed, you can run the Oracle BI Applications installer on the
target machine to install the DAC Client. For information about how to run the Oracle
BI Applications installer, see Section 4.4, "Running the Oracle BI Applications Installer
    on Windows."
I haven't attempted this with the 7.9.6 version yet. Nor have I reviewed the documentation to see if it is mentioned as an alternative.
