Installation problem Mac OSX  on G4 mac

I'm running a mac G4 iBook. while Flash Player is actually
installing, it just stops when it gets to ... 4 items to install
... and stays like that without going forward. I've tried 5 times
and every time have had to force-quit (once waited an hour!).
does anyone know why it won't finish the installation?
thanks, stanley

Me too, on an iMac G4! :-(
The best I can do is downgrade to Flash 7, which was before
installers were made apparently... Does this installer seem to have
a problem with G4s?

You are right, Adobe does not support CS5 because it is no longer sold.
Simply download the trial version of CS5 from this Adobe web site and input your serial number.

  • Problems installing OSX Lion - new Mac Mini 2011

    Hi!
I'm having major problem with my brand new Mac Mini.
I wanted to upgrade it right away after reading so many succeful upgrading reports on various forums so I bought a 120GB Intel 320 SSD disk and 2x4 GB of Kingston 1333mhz ram. I swapped the drives right away and idiotically used to original drive in a case to create an external installation USB-drive (my 4GB USB drives didn't work).
I then created a bootable USB-disk with the external original drive and tried to install but only get the circle with slash after selecting the drive in the "options" menu. If I remove the USB-drive I get a flashing folder icon. If start holding down Command + S I get a message saying that the "version of OSX is not supported on this platform".
I also tried using the Recovery Assistant HD to create a bootable recovery tool but that gives the same results.
    In short:
I can't install OSX Lion on a brand new Mac Mini with upgraded HD and Ram. I don't have the original installation anymore.
    Am I out of luck?

Internet Recovery solved this problem. Option+Command+R.

  • Labview Runtime Engine installation problem with OSX

I tried to load the LabView Runtime 7.0 Engine for Mac OSX Says it's installing in my Applications folder and seems to be downloading the files. However, nothing is in the Application folder (and nowhere else on the HD). If I try to run a vi, it can't locate the program. If I try to reinstall, it says the files are already there. Can someone please help me with this problem?

I suspect the runtime is in a folder called National Instruments. You
might just do a Finder Search for that folder or for LabVIEW and see
what shows up. If you logged out and back in again between installation
and execution, it could be a permission problem.

  • Installation problem of Flash player on Mac

Tried to install update of flash player, but it stopped at 20%. Uninstalled old version of flash and now I am trying to install latest version, but it stops at 30%. I am running Mac OS X Yosemite vs. 10.10.2 and Safari 8.04. Checked security settings and yava script is allowed. What else can I do?

    Hi,
Ok.  So I found this and it worked:
    1.  Re: Flash download freezes at 25%. What will help?

    Please use the offline installer:
    http://fpdownload.macromedia.com/pub/flashplayer/latest/help/install_flash_player_osx.dmg
Download the install package from this link.  Double-click to open it from your downloads folder; when you see the red "install" folder, right-click it and select "Show Package Contents"; click on the  "Contents" folder; then click on the "Resources" folder; then double-click on the "Adobe Flash Player.pkg" file. The installation will start.  It worked for me.... FINALLY!! I hope it also works for you.

Do you see the disc on your desktop?  Are you able to see other discs mounted on your desktop?  If you go to the Finder menu do youhave a check mark next to CDs, DVDs, and iPods to be shown on the desktop?

I have created a Self Signed Digital Certificate using Adobe Flash Builder, created an app say myapp.air and tried to install in the Mac 10.8.5. I am getting the below error.
I have created Self signed digital certificate as follows.
I also tried installing with latest Adobe AIR runtime.(version 14). Please help on solving this issue.

You have done a great job supplying what we need to know, so think we can help you.
run applications/utilities/disk utility/repair preferences on your drive with mac os
    delete users/(USERNAME)/Library/Preferences/com.adobe.mediabrowser.plist - especially if over 1mb
move to desktop  users/(USERNAME)/Library/Preferences/Adobe Illustrator CS6 Settings
    create a new user account
You can try all 4 at once, or one at a time (up to you, sounds like you know what you are doing), that is the order I recomend to least disrupt your current install

  • Can't Download Mac OSX Mavericks with Mac OSX 10.7.5

something appears to be wrong here. I go to download mavericks from the app store but no download occurs (can't believe I have to use App store for this).  i'm on a late 2011 mac powerbook.  download shows up in launchpad with a status bar that never moves.  mac app store won't acknowledge download when i press the download button.  no status update on the mac app store, it just thinks about it for a second and then goes back to displaying the word "download"  I have seen this same problem on this forum but have not seen an answer that works for my situation.  anti virus disabled, firewall disabled, gatekeeper set to allow for app store.  Any suggestions?

To determine if it is actually downloading use Launchpad. You should see a fairly obvious new icon with an associated progress bar. Make sure you check every Launchpad page by swiping left / right.
If it's paused, click the icon to restart it.
Once it completes the icon will appear in Applications and Launchpad, it's just easier to find in Launchpad.
When it's finished downloading it looks like this:
If it really is not downloading read Mac App Store: How to resume interrupted downloads
    Open the Mac App Store.
From the Store menu, choose Sign In.
Enter your Apple ID and password.
Click Purchases to get to your Purchases Page.
Click the Resume button next to the app name.

  • Help: Tried using disk install to erase and reinstall mac osx

Could someone please help me. I just bought a second hand macbook pro off someone and upon recieving it realised they hadn't erased everything and their user account was still set up and active as administrator. This means i'll have issues down the track doing updates etc.
I googled how to hard reset the computer to start from scratch and followed steps. Basically they were
    1. Restart computer whilst holding down the command and r buttons (which I did)
    2. When the wifi connection box comes up connect to reliable wifi (done)
    3. Then it said go into the disk utility and erase the mac os extended disk (the problem here is 1. the steps didnt specify that it should be the macintosh HD disk erased and 2. It should be the mac os extended (journaled) version, i've just fogured this out after a lot more searching as to why the reinstall of mac OSX wouldn't then work)
now i'm freaking out that i've done irreperable damage given that the mac OSX base system (mac OS extended (non-journaled)) has been erased. Can anyone please tell me if this can be reinstalled? Or what I should do next?

whereas in the macintosh HD partition nothing has been greyed out (so the option to erase is there, which im assuming means it hasn't been erased)
    (capacity: 319.73GB, available: 319.3 GB, used 425MB).
Does this help explain the situation?
That does help. The reason why the Macintosh HD partition is the only one where nothing is greyed out is that that's where your new OS X installation should be targeted (note that it's the only partition with room for a full OS X installation as well as your own files and applications). The option to erase is available in case you want to, for some reason, erase it again. Remember, you're booting from the Recovery HD and that's a partition on your HD too. You aren't allowed to erase the partition you booted from (hence, it's greyed out), and, since it's normally hidden, as are others, such as the EFI, it shouldn't be messed with anyway.

Did you migrate your copy of InDesign to a new computer using the Migrate feature? If so, that doesn't work. You would have to use the Adobe Cleaner utility to clean out all your CS stuff, then reinstall from the original media or download file.

  • My volume isn't recognized when reinstalling Mac OSX Tiger

I am reinstalling mac osx on my mac book black, because I got a folder with a question mark whenever I boot up my computer. When I'm installing the disks there's no volume to install mac osx. What do I need to do?

From the Tiger installer you need to open Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. On the left side, see whether your hard drive shows up. If it doesn't, your hard drive has likely failed and you'll need to purchase another one or take your macbook to a service provider to have it replaced.
If it shows up, you should try to repair it or reformat it, depending on whether you're worried about the data that's on it.

  • HP OfficeJet 4500 and MAC OSX 10.6.8 installation problem

I've recently bought a HP OfficeJet 4500 and I'm having problems with the Macintosh installation.
I'm on Intel Mac OS X 10.6.8 and I connected the printer to my iMac by using the USB cable.
The CD included with the printer is not readable, so I had to download the driver (OJ4500vG510a-f_Mac.dmg) from the HP website.
When I run the installer, the application is not able to recognize the device so no model is displayed in the list; then, I choose to continue the installation without specifying the model but when I have to do the configuration the installer is not able to find the correct device and so the setup procedure fails.
What I want is to use the printer wireless, so I think I should perform the configuration procedure and to specify that I want to use the Wi-Fi connection but I never reach this step because installer fails before.
I have to say that I successfully installed this printer on Windows XP and Windows 7 by downloading the drivers from the HP website and installing them without problems, but I'm not able to do the same thing with my Mac.
    Can you help me, please?
What I have to do to get my printer work with my mac?

    Hi,
I got the impression you are using the wrong software for your printer.
In order to get aligned, there are 3 sub models of the 4500 series:
HP Officejet 4500 Desktop (G510a) - Provide USB connectivity only. - The driver posted above intended for this model.
HP Officejet 4500 (G510g) - provide USB and Wired ethernet network connection
HP Officejet 4500 Wireless (G510n) - Provide USB and Wireless network connection,
As you mentioned the printer connected to the network, therefore I doubt if the correct driver has been used.
Above you may find a direct download link for both of the models
Simply click the model which identical to the one listed on the front of the printer,
    Regards,
    Shlomi

  • Problem installing Mac OSX on my new MacBook hard drive...

    Hi,
i am beside myself again...(i just visited my local Genius bar this afternoon). Any help would be most appreciated! :o)
i purchased a 2.5 inch SATA Fujitsu 120GB laptop hard drive for my new MacBook. Followed the awesome* instructions on "how to replace/upgrade hard drive", and took out the original Toshiba HD. What the instructions* failed to mention was that i would eventually need to use a Torx screwdriver (star-shaped) to remove the caddy/carriage from the Toshiba HD. Got that the next day and replaced the Toshiba 80GB with my new 120GB Fujitsu drive..., it slipped into place nicely but i did notice that the Toshiba had four short wires protruding out to the right of the contacts, which my new Fujitsu didn't have... hmmmm...?!
anyways, tried to install Mac OSX on the new drive, booted up with the install disc... went thru' chosing the language (English), agreed to the second step... but when it came time to install, there was NO icon at all in the box where i am asked where i want to install it!!!
so i go to disk utilities, and see that my Fujitsu HD is indeed recognized, but none of the buttons in first aid are active... so i can't check it.
i figured that had to do with the four little wires, so i replaced the original Toshiba and made a reservation with Genius Bar to ask for assistance.
this afternoon, i explained my problem and was told the four wires have NOTHING to do with it... Lawrence (the genius) told me to (actually, first he said Apple does not recommend my doing this... and that i should go to a 3rd party computer store such as Dino to get help!) go back to disk utilities and partition, then erase this drive and then i will see the icon for this drive in the install box.
Well i did everything i was told to do and... still, there is no icon for my Fujitsu HD! :o(
I was able to partition, after which there was a disc0 under the Fujitsu drive on the left side of the disk utilities. When i go to system profiler, and click on ATA... it too shows the Fujitsu drive... but i cannot install because there is NOTHING to click on at the installation step! the "continue" button is not active and only the "back" button is actively mocking me!!!
i know many of you have successfully upgraded your hard drive... what am i doing wrong? Would a different brand work better? I know Seagate is quite popular, and OWC sells a Western Digital version as well as a Hitachi... do those four little wires make a difference? Would the Seagate come with those wires???
i am going crazy... thanks, and sorry for the long post, just wanted to let you know what i've done!
    blue skies,
ps. please feel free to email me at [email protected] if you think that would be better! :o)

    Hi,
...after getting back from school, my MacBook was STILL in the process of verifying and "supposedly" repairing... since i was gone for over 10 hours, i finally assumed the drive was either defective or just incompatible, and quit disk utility.
...this morning i went out and bought a new Seagate 120GB SATA (they didn't have 160GB SATA drives, only 160GB ultra-ATA drives) 2.5 inch HD. This one DID have those four wires to the right of the contacts... (i don't know how important they are), and after changing and exchanging the Toshiba/Fujitsu HDs, it was a breeze putting in the new Seagate drive.
Erased > patritioned > and sure enough, the icon showed up and the biggest smile showed up on my face as i finished installing! :o)
I contacted the original seller of my fujitsu hd (it was a 2.5 inch, 120GB, serial ATA notebook drive) and he was kind enough to say "just pack it up and send it back for a refund!" (minus shipping and re-stocking fees of course! :o)
Just wanted to mention that, the fujitsu hd WAS recognized by disk-utility and at the bottom left of the window it said that the fujitsu was "GUID partitioned"..., so i am still scratching my head as to why it didn't work?!
I want to thank everyone that offered advice, it was helpful and i feel more comfortable with my MacBook after this trying and very frustrating episode! :o)
    blue skies,

  • Creative Cloud Desktop App installer crash (Mac OSX)

I wanted to update my existing CC Desktop App, but that didn't work out, so I uninstalled it, and tried to reinstall. But that brought me into a whole other world of pain and tears.
Basically, when I finally worked out where I could download the .dmg (hint: if you try to download the desktop app installer through chrome on mac, you'll get the .exe), and I ran the installer, and just says this: "Downloading Creative Cloud Desktop App" and then promptly crashes, leaving no trails behind. I cleaned my mac from old logs and whatnot, did not work. I ran Creative Cloud Cleaner Tool, that just deleted all my existing CC programs so I can't even work with those anymore, but the cleaner provided nothing to let the Desktop app installer actually work.
I have a Mid 2012 Macbook Pro "13, Mac OSX 10.9.5, 2.5 GHz i5, 8GB RAM. I've had virtually no problems with Creative Cloud, except After Effects 2014, which could never complete an update.
I suspect I need some kind of "offline" installer for the Desktop app.

SkyOtic if you are being offered an exe by Chrome then I would recommend reviewing your web browser settings and add-ons.  It appears that Chrome is currently identifying your computer as utilizing a Windows operating system.
Please download and install the Creative Cloud Desktop application from Creative Cloud Help | Creative Cloud for desktop.  I would strongly you recommend the use of a different web browser unless you have corrected the behavior occurring within Chrome.
If you continue to face difficulties then I would recommend reviewing Error "Failed to Install" Creative Cloud Desktop application - http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/kb/failed-install-creative-cloud-desktop.html.
