Installation problem: Program too big to fit in memory

I have downloaded the installation file several times now and tried to run the executable on an NT 4 SP 5, a W2K, and a Win98 system, and all I ever get is "Program too big to fit in memory". I have looked at the byte count, and it's exactly the same as specified on the download page. What could be wrong?
TIA,
Stefan

Program too big to fit in memoryThis error is complaining about memory, not disk space. But I suspect that the problem is disk space. This is copied from the Window 32-bit installation instructions:
A Pentium 166MHz or faster processor with at least 32 megabytes of physical RAM is required to run graphically based applications. Forty-eight megabytes of RAM is recommended for applets running within a browser using the Java Plug-in product. Running with less memory may cause disk swapping which has a severe effect on performance. Very large programs may require more RAM for adequate performance.
You should have 120 megabytes of free disk space before attempting to install the Java 2 SDK software.

After identifying the exact connectors you need, check the Apple Store online and/or eBay...you should be able to buy a cable with the correct connector on each end, rather than fooling with an adapter.

  • Solaris 10 install problem (requested image to big to fit into memory)

I have just downloaded the iso images and burned to disk. When I go to install I get the message (Requested image to big to fit into memory Error 28) I have 1.5GB so I don't understand the problem. Thanks in advance
It took a long time for me to figure out, but the answer is disable in BIOS memory hole at 15M to 16M. This solved the install problem with Open Solaris and quite a few more such as not being able to install Linux Zenwalk 5.0 or openSUSE 10.3. Their are others also problems I have had with Linux or UNIX that this took care of. JGZ

    Hi,
I had been able to solve the Error 28 issue that in my case was really related to a corrupted boot image:
    1. I went in the path /a/platform/i86pc
    2. rm boot_archive.
    3. sync
    4. reboot
At this point the OS will notice the absence of the boot_image and it will regenerate it.
At the time of this operation the CD with solaris 10 was inserted in the CDROM.
When the system restarted it was able to load the OS properly.
Please use these information at your own risk. I do not accept any liablity.
    Cheers

  • StreamInsight Exception: The event is too big to fit into one page. The maximum event size is '230' bytes

    Hi,
I'm using version 2.1 and getting the following exception
System.InvalidOperationException: The event is too big to fit into one page. The maximum event size is '230' bytes, but the event size is '234' bytes. Try reduce the size of the event payload.
Everywhere I read tells me the maximum page size is 16K, so why am I hitting a 230 byte limit? Secondly how can I increase this to the full 16K?
    Thanks,
    Jeremy

That is ... unusual. I've never seen that. Can you provide some details on what your payload looks like and the query?

  • IPhone on-screen info suddenly too BIG to fit screen

My iphone 5 went NUTS overnight.  Can't use it today.  Why?
It worked flawlessly yesterday, even while charging.  Today, I tried to use it and it's impossible.  Everything I see on screen is now, suddenly, too big to fit on screen  --  icons, text, news, mail, games . . . EVERYthing!  I can't even find the keypad or telephone icon.  Nothing works at all.  I changed nothing.
    Any clues, anybody?

Hi press the menu button 3 times If that doesn't work Try a Reboot press & hold  power button & menu button Hold both down until you see Apple Logo. Cheers Brian

  • Screen looks like it is too big to fit ipad 1

Screen looks like it is too big to fit ipad 1. Can only see part of the perimeter, icons along edge are showing 20%. Running the latest software update, it has been sycned and rebooted. Whats next?

It's in the General>Accessibility page in settings.  If on, you may have double-tapped with three fingers, as James suggests.  If you don't want this feature, turn it off.

  • Too big to fit DVD -what to do now?

I've made a 2hr 20 min movie in iMovie which I want to burn to a DVD, but iMovie tells me it's too big.
I've already done all the menus and so on in iDVD, and if I click on the "Info" tab (after clicking on the "Customize" button in iDVD's main window it says:
    DVD capacity: 9.4GB og 8.0GB
I noticed that if I go to the preference menu and choose "Best performance" under "Encoder settings" it becomes a lot bigger (18.9GB), so I've set it to "Best quality". What does that mean anyway?
The movie I made was originally shot on a VHS tape, so although quality is good for it naturally doesn't compare to DVD quality (I imported it through my Mini-DV camcorder which Vidi (http://www.mitzpettel.com/software/vidi.php) was used to capture -iMovie apparently can't capture anything which isn't on DV tape).
I assume I'm really wasting a lot of additional space on the DVD for the added quality which the movie doesn't take advantage of, so is there a way I can make space on a DVD without sacrificing quality (or at least not too much)?
It would be really nice to put it all on one DVD (my PowerMac G4 has a dual layer Superdrive, though I've never actually tried burning anything other than "normal" 4.7GB DVDs with it).
Alternatively, how do I go about splitting my video into several parts so that it will fit on several DVDs?

Just a suggestion for splitting your project ... (will require major memory 'til you split it)
I would think your project is saved and named? Copy and put it in another folder, then chop the other, delete first half, SAVE AS a different name BEFORE you Empty the Trash. I hit Save again and close.
Open the original again and chop the last half .... I used to overlap the second half 2-3 minutes ... a sort of reminder of the "last episode". Save as the different name ... Part 2 or something!! Then empty trash .... Save BEFORE emptying cuz my iDVD anyways, just Dumps and Saves, I have No choice!! You don't want to destroy the COMPLETE Project just yet. So SAVE,SAVE,SAVE Before you empty the trash!!!!
So now you should have 3 projects .... 1 complete, 1 first half & 1 second half (see major memory temporarily used) Then I test burning the first half to a ReWritable DVD ... (I wasted sooo many discs with this bloody program.) If it says it's Successful .... TEST that disc in a DVD player, 2 different ones if you have them ... Do this BEFORE you touch the computer, It should be asking to burn more or are you Done! If it works in the player then I go on, I put a Write only dvd in the disc tray and close it ... it should take over and burn another and 2,3 4 more whatever.
I then Erase the DVD-RW and repeat this circus with Part 2 onto the RW, test in dvd player then burn permanent discs.
ONLY after I know Part1 & Part 2 (in iMovie or iDVD) can stand alone, do I trash the Complete Mega Gb project to free up some space.
(I have to look for another DVD Burning program, this iMovie & iDVD I find too clumsy, restrictive and tooooo hungry for memory ... for what you get!)

  • I am having trouble with a video.  I have tried to copy it to a flash drive because it is too big to fit on a DVD, it says it is too large for the volumes format.  Please advise.

I have done many DVD's for seniors for graduation so I am familier with Imovie.  I have just finished a projec that is a combination of video, music and stills.  I shared it through idvd.  Now I can't burn it to a dvd because it is too large.  It is too big even for a two sided disk.  I have researched it and i find that blue ray would be big enough.  Does apple offer  blue ray burner?  if so, what is the cost?  I tried another route and took my external hard drive to copy it to a PC.  there computer wouldn't recongize my drive.  I am assuming it is because it is formated for apple.  I tired copying it to a flash drive and and it says that it can't be copied because it is too large for the volume's format.  Suggestions?   PLEASE!!!!!

Could the video be too big because of using too high a resolution?   480p is sufficient for a DVD.  the thread at:
    https://discussions.apple.com/thread/5868958?tstart=30
    may be of help.
Apple does not support Blue ray - you have to use a thrid party application like Toast.
To transfer the video to a PC you need a FAT-formatted hard drive (or of course a sufficiently big memory stick).
You could also go via a network, via the cloud (eg Dropbox) or with 'Wetransfer" or similar.
    Geoff.

  • Sometimes web pages seem too big to fit in my screen...

...I can't see the far right side of many web pages I visit,(including the previous "Ask a Question" screen),...None of the Display/screen resolution options enable me to fit the whole page inside my screen,However,When I click the screen maximize button,(located on the upper right next to the close page button),..back and forth,I get a momentary glimpse of the complete page, but it only flashes a moment, then goes back to missing the far right of the page.,It seems to be up to 1/4th of the page is missing from the right side, affected pages include "Gmail",My Bank page,(where my "log out" button, and a sub menu are hidden),..and many others.,All my settings seem to be correct as best I can tell.,...Thank you.

This issue can be caused by the Babylon Toolbar 1.1.8 extension

  • Error message too big to fit onto screen and I can't scroll down

I have compiled an email with a lot of addresses cc'd in it and the mail programme is bringing up an error message when I try to send it. The trouble is that the error message is so long that I can't see the end of it and it won't scroll down so I can't see what the options are to react to it. I have tried all sorts of fixes. Any suggestions?
    Already tried:
    -Changing the screen resolution
-using the tab key to try to select different options then pressing enter
-simply pressing enter (this has the effect of trying to send the message later I think, but the same problem comes up again so I am stuck in a never ending loop, unable to fix it!)
    - dragging to the trash (it won't let me)
using the mouse to try and drag the corners of the message in (works for the email, but not for the error message)
Please help - this is driving me crazy!
    thank you!

I think you're going to have to find & delete that particular one without Mail running, then redo it it with maybe 33 per send.

  • File too big to fit on a 4.7 DVD-RW

I play the sims 2 and my EA Games folder is 4.78GB but the DVD-RW's I have are only 4.7 GB..how do I go about trying to burn the EA Games folder to my DVD-RW without having to use another disc?
This is my very first time trying to burn such a big folder to a DVD-RW so a lot of help would be sooo appreciated.

Use the Disk Utility in the /Applications/Utilities/ folder to create a disk image, copy the files to it, and then compress the image. Burn the resulting dmg file.

Just tried to download and it was going to take 2 hours!   My friend sugested you have a smaller Elements "light".   I just need something to crop, contrast & brightness adjust fotos from my Nikon dx 5000 for simple use on my blog.  Please advise what program I might substitute.

Sounds like you might need to make a split library portable... With the library files on the external drive if the device isn't ready iTunes halts, you cancel, connect the drive, start iTunes and all is well, No preferences get altered.

  • What do i do once my itunes library is too big to fit on one drive?

I have a 1 tb drive and I can upgrade it even to a 3 tb drive but eventually i am going to fill that one too.  What are my options once my itunes Library fills my HDD.  I use this library to syn to multiple computers and apple tv units throughout my house.
    Any suggestions?
    Alan

connect the external to your Mac and make sure it is properly formatted
go iTunes > preferences > advanced and point iTunes media folder location to the external
on the same tab, ensure the copy to ... when adding option is checkmarked and ok out
select (highlight) the content you want to move in iTunes, right-click (or ctrl-click), and choose consolidate files from the pop-up menu
repeat as necessary pointing iTunes media folder location to other drives/locations.
when the moving's done, you can delete the original files to make room on your boot drive.
