Installation Questions Documaker 12.3 Enterprise Edition

We are looking to install Documaker 12.3 Enterprise Edition and have the following installation questions:
When installing Documaker can we have our own VM in our own OU for the WAS application servers? This will make maintenance easier on our side.  There doesn’t seem to be anything in the documentation saying this is a good or a bad idea.
Our WAS Admins would like to know what the scripts in the Post-Setup documentation actually do.  Is it possible to use our existing scripting environment to build the necessary pieces instead of using scripts from the documaker install?  If it’s not possible, can we get a look at the documaker scripts before we run them?
We would like to know if WAS 8.5 is supported, or if version 7.0.0.27 in the requirements pdf is the only version supported?

The typical installation scenario is to have 3 tiers - application (WAS), application (Documaker), and data. WAS tiers host web applications (Dashboard, Administrator, Interactive) as well as providing database connection pools and JMS queues for messaging - it is expected that the WAS environment is a clustered environment and that the applications are deployed to the cluster members, which can be physical or virtual. For the Documaker application server, these can be physical or virtual as well. It's recommended to install Documaker on single-purposes environments, however there's nothing to prevent you from doing otherwise. The Documaker applications are self-contained JVMs and can be tuned accordingly.

The installation process (currently) writes the scripts according to responses provided during the installation process. The scripts can be reviewed/modified prior to execution.
We would like to know if WAS 8.5 is supported, or if version 7.0.0.27 in the requirements pdf is the only version supported?
The official supported version of WAS is 7.0.0.27, however WAS 8.5 may be suitable (I believe there might be a fix pack requirement there - would recommend you submit a question to Oracle Support for verification).

  • Problems with installation of Oracle Database 11g, Enterprise edition

I am having trouble with the whole DHCP setting on my windows vista business OS.
I went throught the steps to install a loopback adapter which is supposed to be a solution for DHCP-enabled computers. When I check to see if I have a loopback adapter, it is showing that it is the "local area connection 2."
But at some point during the installation, it says that I need to make the loopback adapter the primary network setting. Is this what is preventing a successful installation? I went through the installation process to the end despite this error message and it seemed to install ok. I created a database using the Database Config Manager. Now I am having trouble accessing this database. Is this related to the error message I described above?
I created a username and password at the database creation page.
When I go into command prompt I type in "sql plus" and then my username and password.
But it says "ORACLE not available."
Any help would be much appreciated.

Don't bother with a loopback adapter unless you are using a laptop that needs Oracle to work whether connected or unconnected to the business network. Much simpler to just arrange for DHCP to assign you a fixed IP address (a lease reservation).
It's the change of IP address which trips Oracle up, not the existence of DHCP. So if you can make sure your IP address will be the same, no matter how you acquire it, that's all you have to do.
Installing a loopback adapter which isn't the primary interface at the point you install Oracle will mean your installation will get very confused as to whether to address things via the 127... address or the "normal" IP address. And yes, at that point, you'll not be able to connect to instances, or run listeners or do all sorts of other things reliably.
If it were me, I'd uninstall the mess you probably now have as far as Oracle goes, install something like VirtualBox (free) or VMware Workstation (costs) and enjoy your Oracle experience inside the confines of a virtual machine whose networking setup you can configure and control to your heart's content, without it screwing up your real machine's ability to connect to your work's network when it needs to.

  • An error occured after the installation of SQL Server 2014 Enterprise Edition

As you can see, only the Analysis Services was installed successfully, the rest are failed.
Well, I'm using a 64-bit Windows 8 Single Language, and my ISO file was a 32-bit installer. But why on my other 64-bit PC, it was successfully installed, no such errors like that.
Just in case you need the installation log file, here's the link.

    Hello,
I found the following error on the log file you shared:
Error 1406. Could not write value  to key \SOFTWARE.
System error .  Verify that you have sufficient access to that key, or contact your support personnel.
    Please perform the following steps:
    1. Open the registry editor.
    2. Right-click the HKLM\SOFTWARE key.
    3. Select Permissions.
    4. Click Advanced.
    5. On the Owner tab, select the Administrators group, and then check the "Replace owner on subcontainers and objects"
    check box.
    6. Click Apply.
    7. On the Permissions tab, check the "Replace permission entries on all child objects with entries shown here that
apply to child objects" check box.
    8. Click OK.
    Hope this helps.

  • Why the LDAP server does not accept any connection upon the installation of iPlanet Application Server Enterprise Edition 6.0 Test Drive Phase II

"I am carrying my tests under W2000 with all the default installation options. I've checked the user ID (admin), password and port are correct. However, I was not able to start the Netscape Console and also, the kregedit exited with messages:

    (previously submitted to Portal Services/Wireless)

    Hi,
I'm not sure if there are known issues with iAS test drive and Windows 2000 howevere I would like to help you in cracking the error.
The GXBIND error appears only when the iAS is not able to communicate with the directory server. In our case, let us proceed by the following...
    1. Check if the directory server is running. Verify this by checking the services and look for an entry for directory server and it must look something like
"Netscape Directory Server 4.1 (machine name)" and the status is started.
    2. Next, if you are not able to start the console of directory server, then you must check if the directory administrative server is running. This is also verified with the services and look for the entry...
"Netscape Administration Server 4.2" and the status is started.
    3. Next, if both of the above are running, then you need to login to directory server console by using cn=Directory Server and issuing the password. If you are able to login successfully then, iAS will work, if not, then rectify the problem with directory server and I'm sure iAS will work.
    4. If you have forgotten the password for cn=Directory Manager, then there is a work around for fixing the password in directory server and iAS.
Please let the outcome once you have done this.

  • Installing Sql Server 2012 Enterprise edition on Windows 7

    Hello,
I have a desktop with 1 TB Hard Disk and 8GB RAM. It has Windows 7 installed. I want this to be used as staging server at my work. I installed the SQL Server 2012 Enterprise edition. While installing I used service accounts as default when prompted
which I normally do while installing on a desktop. But now I want this to be used as a server where people can access this box as they do on a sql server machine .i.e. connect to server using SSMS and get to databases on the server and also remote
desktop into this machine. So, Is it fine to install with default service accounts?
Also how can I connect to this newly installed sql server box from another desktop using SSMS?
    Thank You.

    Hello,
Installation of  SQL server 2012 Enterprise edition on Client machine(Win 7)  is not supported( you can install ) .See below for Hardware and Software requirements for SQL Server 2012.You cannot claim support from Microsoft and I guess statging
    is also important.
    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms143506.aspx
Now to your main question. To connect
Makes sure Browser service is running
Make sure you make exception in firewall for SQL Server services and incoming connections
Make sure you specify correct instance name when connecting from remote

  • Some installation questions concerning AS and 8i

I will be installing 8i Enterprise Edition so that I can work with 9i AS. I have read through most of the Installation Guide for Oracle 8i - Enterprise Edition Release 3 (8.1.7) for Windows NT. I have some questions that didnt seem to be addressed in the documentation.
How to access Web Site component?
Appendix A, 'Individual Components Available for Installation,' indicates that the Oracle Enterprise Manager Web Site component is not included in either the Typical or Minimal installations of Oracle 8i Enterprise Edition. Is it available through a custom installation, or how do I access this component?
    Advanced Security questions:
That same appendix also makes it clear that one of the primary differences between the Typical and Minimal installations is all of the Advanced Security features (encryption and integrity support; authentication support; and so on). It seems that I will need the Advanced Security component, because I will be configuring a database that stores usernames and passwords. However, I will be working with Oracle Portal. Can security features be configured just through Portal and 9i Application Server, or do I need to use Advanced Security instead, or in addition to, Portal and AS?
From what I understand, Advanced Security works with SSL (Secure Socket Layers). Does this affect visitors' ability to access a Web application anonymously before login (doesnt interaction with an application in SSL require online exchange between computers of authenticated, encrypted digital certificates? I hope this question makes sense; I'm new to the topic.) Is there a short answer to this question?
Application Server instead of Oracle HTTP server:
I also saw in Appendix A that the Oracle HTTP server powered by Apache is included with both the Typical and Minimal installations. It's also bundled as a "Web listener" with the Oracle Enterprise Manager Web Site.
However, I will be installing 9i Application Server instead to work with the 8i database. Will this cause any conflicts? I'm just wondering if the Oracle HTTP server component can be excluded from the beginning, without doing a custom install. I did see on pg. 3-6 of the Installation Guide (under 'Oracle Enterprise Manager Web Browser Requirements') that Oracle Enterprise Web Site does support the Oracle Internet Application Server.
Also, I understand from the section on 'Mandatory Individual Component Requirements' that Advanced Security "requires preinstallation of an LDAP directory such as Oracle Internet Directory (provided on the component CD-ROM)." It refers me to the Oracle Advanced Security Administrator's Guide for further information.
    Oracle Internet Directory:
However, I haven't been able to access the Security Administrator documentation yet for installation procedures since I haven't been able to successfully download 8i Enterprise Edition (with all of the supporting documentation) yet.
I looked at the online 8i documentation at http://technet.oracle.com/docs/products/oracle8i/doc_index.htm but did not see any reference to the Advanced Security Administrators Guide.
As for Oracle Internet Directory itself, I did just find the Oracle Internet Directory Administrator's Guide on the oracle8i/doc_index.htm page mentioned above - so that should help.
I also looked at the Oracle Internet Directory download page to see if links to documentation might be provided there, but saw that "Oracle Internet Directory Release 2.1.1.0 is delivered as part of Oracle8i Release 3" which leads me back to the 8i Enterprise Edition page where Ive been experiencing download difficulties. So far as I know, theres no evaluation-version CDs available for this software, though there are evaluation CDs available for 9i AS.

@op - the tip that urfaust posted is contained in the beginners_guide wiki article.  You should not attempt installing arch without reading this guide.  If you have two computers, you can install arch on one while browsing to the guide on the 2nd.

Deinstall the Standard Edition server software.I don't understand what they mean by DeInstall the software.
    Question 1.
By 'DeInstall' , they mean , use DeInstall Products in the Welcome screen of Oracle Universal Installer and Remove the chosen OUI Home.Right?
    Question 2.
If i 'Deinstall' (ie. remove the software), all the binaries are lost. Right? So what is the point of having just the data files?

  • Installation of Oracle 8.1.17 on Redhat Linux Enterprise Edition 2.4

    dear all
I have tried to Oracle 8.1.17 on Redhat Linux Enterprise Edition 2.4 but it gives an error "Error in invoking target make file .."
I tried using retries it failed each time to prorceed.
I checked for my binutils ( binutils-2.14.90.0.4-26 ) but mine are higher than binutils-2.11.90.0.8-13.i386.rpm required ..
do i need to down grade my binutils for 8.1.7
    abhi

    Hi Abhi!
If I remember correctly (817 is stone age) the binutils used a strange debug flag in the 2.11.90.0.8-13 (something with -z).
If this is not present in your newer version of the binutils the make will fail.
Try downgrading the binutils during the installation.
