Installation SEM 4.0
What is the best-practice for the installation of SEM ?
Installment on the BW environment or on the ERPcore2004/5 environment ?
What are considerations for this ?
Thanks in advance for your reply,

Implementation of SEM 6.0 as comapred to SEM 4.0
Hi,
I've worked on R/3 4.7 + SEM BCS 4.0. I've fair idea about how the data flows from R/3 to BW and then BW to SEM.
1. Could you advise in case of ECC6.0+ SEM BCS 6.0 how is this set up different? My question is more like what is different in the data flow from transactional system (ECC) to BCS just because we have ECC in place of R3.
2. Probably we have different tables to read from ECC and the extractor to BW might be different are there any other basic differences?
3. Also since we have new GL do we get rid of the tables like GLPCT/GLPCA we have at the moment?
4. In present system there can be mismatch between GL and PCA tables for various reasons (like 1 KEK not done properly). Do we get rid of these issues as well in SEM 6.0 because of ECC?
Please advise.
Thanks and best regards,
SSC
*points will be rewared to suitable answers.Hi,
If you are already upgrading to ECC6.0( only new GL), then you should have the SEM 6.0 add-on this.In the new general ledger concept from ECC6., the special ledger concept is withdrawn and the GL itself will have consolidated data for GL requirement as well as Special ledger requirment.
All you have to do an BI add-on for this.( also you can go for BI with SEM add-on)The installation of SAP NetWeaver components/usage types BW/BI, XI/PI, EP, MI, and/or DI together with SAP ECC in the same system instance (the same SID) is technically possible but some restrictions apply: Refer SAP Note 855534 @ service.sap.com
Installation guide of SEM/ECC 6.0 on BI NW04´s.
SAP Notes:
Overview: Notes on Add-On FINBASIS - 438520
Overview: Notes on Add-On SEM-BW - 186299
Installation FINBASIS 600 on SAP NW AS 7.0= 852446
Installation SEM-BW 600 on SAP NW AS 7.0-852447
Installation SAP SEM 6.0- 855383
Also pls chk the SAP Note :852971- SEM BCS Integration with New GL, will explain the following.
You want to update your financial data in the new G/L accounting with all additional account assignments that are necessary for the consolidation and you want to set up an integrated data transfer to SEM-BCS.
Solution
The structure of the new G/L accounting already contains the most important fields for a company or profit center consolidation in the delivery status:
o Trading partner
o Partner profit center
o Consolidation transaction type
You can therefore perform an integrated date transfer from the new G/L accounting to BW when you use the extractor and then subsequently import the data to SEM-BCS.
Hope this helps,

LiveCache for SAP HCM Idocs ECC6EHP4 on windows/mssql
Hello Gurus,
We am trying to process inbound HR Idoc (message type HRMD_A) from a java system and during the process it stucks in error code 51 and error message says - "Unable to establish connection to LiveCache".
Now we dont have any Livecache setup here but we built the system based upon a system copy and i can see some LiveCache system maintained there in tcode DB59 and DBACOCKPIT but we dont have those systems in our landscape as the system copy was from SAP originally.
Now the question is Do we need LiveCache for SAP HR HCM module specifically to proess HR Idocs (inbound only, outbound process works fine).
I read a lot of stufff on live cache technology but i think that is required only for SAP SCM(Supply chain management).
If i need to install livecache what would be the ideal steps, currently my ECC EHP4 system is on windows 2003 server/ MSSQL 2005.
Do i need to install MAXDB along with MSSQL to support livecache as its only supported on MaxDB(correct me if i am wrong).
Any reply will be highly appreciated.
ManiHello Natalia,
Thank you for your reply, but we want to resolve it if possible without SAP support
please find my answers below for your uestion
-> Is your system connected to CRM system?
No
-> Is your system connected to SCM system?
No
-> What connections you saw in /ndb59 on your system?
To a unknown SAP SID which is in red color, that means not active.
-> What SAP components, with SP number, installed on your system?

OEM 10gR2 Frozen at 12%
I´m installing OEM10gR2 at an Oracle Unbreakable Linux.
First it gave me a warning about libstdc packages which I ignore since I have all the packages installed, and others in a more recent version (devel-libstdc++).
Then the installation sems to be stale at 12%, i have done a tail -f for the log and also a ps and a top trying to see if the process is still running.
Any other idea of how to validate if the installar is running or the process got hung?.

For the record: when a CRC error is detected at the .err file at the /oraInvetory/logs.
1)It can be a bad download, check the sums for the downloads.
2)it can be a bad block at the disk (my case), change the disk.

Hi All,
I have sap ECC 6.0 installed.I have SAP BI 7.0 Installed.Currently BI is connected to R/3.
We have to install the SEM system. How to install SEM.I read some forum it says you need to install as an addon on BI system.
I tried to search the addon on SAP market place to download,but unable to locate.
Can i get some installation document of SEM.??
Please help.

KKThe installation of SAP NetWeaver components/usage types BW/BI, XI/PI, EP, MI, and/or DI together with SAP ECC in the same system instance (the same SID) is technically possible but some restrictions apply: Refer SAP Note 855534 @ service.sap.com
BI installation will be ADD-On the SAINT transaction code. We will be using an RFC connection for this. You will have to install BI Content add-on on the AS ABAP stack via transaction SAINT and install BI JAVA on the AS JAVA stack via SAPInst.
Along with ECC 6.0 check for these two BI Content software DVDs.

Need help on installation on SEM 3.5
Hi Friends
I have SEM 3.5 software and wish to install it on BW. I have BW 3.5 already installed and would like to know which version of SEM supports the BW 3.5. Moreover the SEM DVD which I have mentions as
> Incl. Suport Package 1-11
> SAP BW Content 3.1
> IDES
> DB Export Part 2 and 3
Could you suggest what else is needed?
Thanks
SriHi,
Supported BW layer for SEM 3.5 is BW 3.1. You cannot install SEM3.5 on BW3.5.
Since your BW is 3.5, you should install SEM 4.0 on top of this.
What you could do is, install SEM3.5 on another machine and keep your BW3.5 as the remote BW(ie.remote scenario). But let you know, it is not recommended, as some SEM functionalities will only work with local BW.
HTH,
Regards,
Nataraj.

Semi-Emergency! Please Help with Heat Sink Installation!
I'm mounting the Thermaltake Blue Orb 2 onto my Athlon 64 X2 4800+ on my MSI K8N Neo-Platinum 4 motherboard. The instructions included with the cooler give 2 options for K8 installation. Option 1 is if your MB has a metal backplate with "taller" mounting holes; Option 2 is for a plastic backplate with "shorter" mounting holes.
Having a metal backplate, I assumed Option 1 was for me, but after fitting the standoffs, and setting the Blue Orb on the core, the screws from the fan didn't seem to reach. They're spring-loaded and I could get them in, but it seemed like I was putting a heck of a lot of pressure on the core and I got really worried.
I entertained Option 2, which has the user removing the plastic backplate and fitting the one that's included with the Blue Orb 2. The problem is, my backplate is the metal one and doesn't seem to want to come off (of course I didn't attempt to force it).
So, do I do as I originally planned or can too much pressure be a serious problem? Or do I try to get taller standoffs or what?DrZin:
First, taking off the plate - that would allow you to mount the cooler according to the mfg. setup but is risky:
I don't know what adhesive is used there, but the idea is to soften it up with heat. You can slowly heat it up with a heat gun or hair dryer. It shouldn't get hotter than 60C and things should start to soften up around 50C. I have used plastic bread scrapers or plastic spackling compound applicators - thin and flat with no sharp edges and NO metal. Push the edge between the metal and the board, working around the whole periphery. The adhesive might stretch rather than cutting loose suddenly, so have patience. It might start very slowly then move more quickly as it gets farther away from the board.
While you are handling the board be careful not to touch any of the pins or electrical parts unless you are using a ground strap. Also, don't wear staticky clothing - cotton is best. I try to keep a conductive foam pad against the bottom of boards while I'm working on them, but that will be hard when messing with the plate.
If the adhesive was a double sided tape-like material, you can clean it off with a solvent - alcohol? If it was an epoxy, it should have come away cleanly from the board. Then you are set to go with the Blue Orb install according to the instructions. Then look below for instructions about starting up the system.
IF you decide against taking off the plate: You have to figure out what the installed height of the springs would be when installed with the back plate. I just looked at a picture of the Blue Orb kit and it looks like it uses a plastic backplate with shoulder screws on the top side of the board. I assume you have verified that these shoulder screws DON'T fit in the holes in the metal plate that's on your board now. If they do, I think you are home free, since the shoulder screws set the compressed height of the springs. If they don't, you need to get long screws that will fit the threads in the metal plate. They should be just a bit longer than the overall length of the TT shoulder screws. Next, measure the height of the top of the shoulder screws above wherever the springs would seat (on the board, I assume but there might be a boss on the TT plastic plate that would stick above the board). This height is the compressed length of the springs when the Blue Orb is installed correctly. They should take some pushing to compress to this length - the 'crunch' of the cooler is significant. AMD recommends a load of 75 lbs for the cooler-processor interface, with a maximum of 100 lbs. So with two springs, they should require 35-40 lbs to compress them to their installed height.
To put the whole thing together, apply the thermal compound according to the package directions - smearing it on for one, a drop for the other (that is a low viscosity fluid that spreads out a lot better than traditional thermal compounds so a drop is OK). Then put the cooler on the CPU and thread the screws through the springs then into the plate. Start tightening them evenly, 1/2 turn for each one once they start to load up the springs. Measure the height frequently to make sure they are even - you could make up a gauge or use a machinist's ruler. Once you have gotten to the correct height you are done. Check the bottom of the board to make sure the screws don't stick out too far - the board mounts on standoffs so you have some margin.
Put the rest of the system together - just enough to fire up the CPU and get a video display - maybe 1-2 RAM sticks and the video card. You could set it up out of the case if you want (pull the anti-static foam out before applying power if you do this). Run the system on the BIOS setup screen, the one that shows the CPU temps and fan speeds. Watch the CPU temp and make sure it doesn't head for the sky - it will go up fast but should settle in the 40-50C range (there are some fan control options in the BIOS that allow you to set the fan/temp relationship - you might want to turn these off and let the fan run full speed to see what your lowest no-load temp is).
If the CPU temp launches, the springs aren't compressed enough or the thermal compound is not on right. Tighten the springs or re-mount the cooler.
Good luck,
ss -

Can any one help me to complete the installation and execute the server successfully. I am very new to linux. Do i need to execute any other commands to complete my installation.Dear Rajasekhar,
this error simply comes, because the architecture of your computer is not the same as the one from the test drive. As I'm not sure, which architecture the N4S test drive uses, we simply have one of the following situations here. Either
your machine is x86_64 and the N4S is i386 or
your machine is i386 and the N4S is x86_64.
Please check!
Thanks,

SAP 4.7 Installation problem on Solaris 10 - Oracle 9.2.0.7
Hi,
I am trying to install SAP 4.7 on Solaris 10 - Oracle 9.2.0.7. I am using standar installation DVD for SAP 4.7 SR1. After installation I want to login SAP system I have an error about database inconsistency. System said that enter SICK transaction. I entered SICK and my error is "OS release SunOS 5.10 Generic_141444-09 sun4u is not support with this kernel". After I received this error I installed new kernel (221) and I upgaded kernel to 221. But after that I could not open SAP system. I checked dev_w1 and it is like below:

Also I tried to change SAPEXE.SAR and SAPEXEDB.SAR files from SAP Kernel CD. After that I started installation again. But I have same error. SAP system didn't work.
How can I solve this error?Cannot I install SAP 4.7 SR1 on Solaris 10 - ORacle 9.2.0.7?Is the problem about SAP profile parameters or Solaris Kernel parameters

Installation problem: Central Instance 6.40 Oracle on Linux 32
Hi everybody, I ran into some basic problems with an installation on Redhat EL4 with SUN SDK 1.4.2_12
here is where sapinst stops after selecting the java dvd:
somehow the getting the right Java home seems to be the problem, although environment variables are set...
SAPinst component stack:

var webas = new WebAS({sid:context.get("SID"), j2eeStandalone:context.getBool("standalone")});
if (webas.getAccountData(WebAS.SIDAdm).exists) {
return;

if (installer.onOS400()) {
installer.getCD("J2EE");
context.set( "JAVA_HOME", os400_getJavaHome() );
} else {
var versions = Java.readVersionFile(installer.getCD("J2EE"));
context.set("JAVA_HOME", Java.getBestHome(versions.minVersion, versions.maxVersion));

Problem in SAP system after ECC 6.0 installation
Hi SAP Gurus,
I have been installing ECC 6.0 with database as ORACLE on Sun Solaris SPARC 64-bit.
I m currently stuck at the phase 27,when the SAP instance is started.
My SAP system is not coming up.
I have checked all profiles with sappfpar pf=<profile> check and none of them are giving errors.they are giving only warnings.
I am hereby pasting the dev_ms,dev_disp & dev_w0 files:
