Installation SmartMedia DVD

I don't get to install HP SmartMedia DVD, she appears a message saying that he is already installed, but in the hour of removing he gives the mistake: "Error reading setup initialization file".
Does anybody know as solving that problem?

I am trying to update to version 2.1.1409 or of MediaSmart TV (SP42505 dated 3-2009).  I have also tried version 2.1.C (SP43747 dated 7-2009).  The latter seems to install but I still cannot get the MSTV application to run (I get an "the application is not working message").  I think it is just a patch, not the complete MSTV application.
I have a HDX X18-1013TX Premium Notebook PC running Vista Home Premium.
All these problems started in late May when HP Health Advisor recommended that I update the version of MSTV that came pre-installed on the laptop to version 2.1.1409.  The original version worked without problems.  The install process for the upgrade failed part-way through -- I got a message saying that the updated software could only be installed on an HP multimedia laptop even thought that's exactly what I have.
Now I can neither re-install the original version nor get the update to install.  The install process keeps insisting that I must first uninstall the previous version even though there is no visible evidence in the VistaControl Panel that there is any previous version of MSTV still on the laptop.  I have even used a registry cleaner in an attempt to remove any remanents of MSTV from the registry, but I still get the same "you must first uninstall" message followed by an "error reading setup initialization file" message if I try to proceed with the install.  Same thing happens if I try to use HP Recovery Manager.
Where else could pieces of previous version of MSTV be hiding?
Is there some way to force the MSTV update to run without trying to remove the (non-existent) previous version?

    Hi All,
I did download the latest installation master DVD from market place but the SAPINST does not show up the steps to install a central instance.
Can any one confirm the same, if it is a common issue and a problem with the SOFTWARE Uploaded into market place recently (02-May-08) ?
Thanks for your inputs in advance.

  • How do I create system installation (bootable) DVD?

    I got a broken Macbook A1342 - cracked screen/liquid damage - fixed it to a working condition.
I have now a system booting nice to Snow Leaopard 10.6.8 with some previous user logged in...
Do not have a password for it, so even updating the current time is impossible now.
I want to swap a HDD to a bigger one and install a fresh copy of Mac OS X on it (possibly newer version?).
How do I create a set of installation/bootable DVDs so I can put new/empty HDD and install system on it?
Can a Macbook "clone" itself to a set of installation DVDs? What app should I use for this?
The other option would be to nuke the laptop to a factory default state, erasing everything which on there now.
I admint, I am a newbie. This is a first contact with a Macbook computer for me... Thanks for understanding :-)

How did you delete the file? It lives inside a directory owned by the OS. It isn't possible to delete it in normal circumstances without the admin password.
I deleted it by booting my laptop to a single user mode and issuing "rm" command line instruction.
No administrator password was required to delete this file! In fact, no password at all was required.
After deleting and rebooting, Max OS X asked me to create a new administrator account, which allowed me to access to EVERY file on this drive.
Sorry this has been common knowledge for a long time (ever since OS X existed about 15 years ago), it may seem shocking to you but the reality is the same on Windows & Linux. All consumer machines have tiny little cracks that can allow an experienced user a way in.
Single user mode means you are root. When someone has root on your machine - all bets are off - they own the system. No if's, ands or buts - they have won full stop.
I keep saying this in an attempt to make it 100% clear - when someone has physical access to a computer is is practically impossible to mitigate attacks like this…
The OS is stored UNENCRYPTED by default so any way to access the disk leaves it wide open to reading and modification. In addition, removing the disk from the machine can allow you access to EVERY file - defeating all permissions that the OS uses as a basic protection (when the OS is running).
The firmware is open to all startup keyboard combinations that can boot the machine from other OS's or make it mount on other machines (Target disk mode).
Hardware has features that allow direct RAM access (Google for 'firewire direct memory access attacks' - these also exist in Thunderbolt too). Passwords be stored in memory so the RAM modules could be pulled from a running machine (PC or Mac). Encrypted memory can mitigate this little hole to an extent.
The case has screws & can be opened so RAM can be ripped out & transferred to another machine for reading (Google for 'cold boot attack').
This list is likely to go on and on if you keep thinking about it.
    To stop attacks like this…
Add an EFI password - it stops all keyboard combinations & booting into single user mode.
Add full disk encryption - it stops the ability to read the disk even if removed.
The final items to overcome are the direct memory access attacks (glue up your Firewire & Thunderbolt ports). You can also set the machine to shut down & disable sleep/ hibernation.
If you are interested subject in this I'd recommend reading how the NSA goes about making a Mac 'secure' for it's agents… (basically crippling every feature that makes it convenient).
http://www.nsa.gov/ia/_files/factsheets/macosx_10_6_hardeningtips.pdf They stopped releasing this info after 10.6, but a lot of it is still relevant, also see the iOS version if you use that.
    http://www.nsa.gov/ia/_files/os/applemac/Apple_iOS_5_Guide.pdf
TLDR: Secure your Mac before you allow any chance of physical access.

  • New Customer: Installer Destroyed DVD

Help, folks...I have never had a worse installation. I used to do this for a living but physically disabled (my hands) for a few years now.
March 18: The installer lost one of my telephones, the one in my office. It took me over four hours to finally find it wrapped in wires behind a tower-style computer. He also left my office in shambles. He was rude.
It turned out that contrary to my request to keep my phone number, Verizon issued a new phone number and I was not aware of that until four days later when a frantic friend knocked on my door. I am housebound a lot due to physical disability.
Because of the phone screw-up, I could not cancel my Comcast account until March 25. Therefore, this error cost me an entire extra week with Comcast.
I did call Verizon when I found that my channel request had been ignored. Bad job all the way around.
The initial salesperson said I would not be billed until April 23. Then I had a bill due April 15.
Lastly but not least, when I said to the installer to please not disrupt any of my components attached to my home theatre, he assured me that he would not. However, after he left, my DVD player-writer (Panasonic) stopped functioning. I have made two long phone calls the past 8 days with assurances that this error would be corrected in person.
I just checked the trouble ticket, and it says there are no open trouble tickets!!!
Both technicians over past week said that there was no way that the installer could have installed the Verizon set-top box without disrupting the DVD player. They both said that they would get a technician on site and that I would be credited for that visit. They both said they would confirm with me by phone within 24-48 hours. I never heard from either of them.
June 3: Third attempt over the phone: This rep was very abrupt and rude—he said it was not Verizon’s equipment. I had to explain AGAIN that Verizon’s installer had done something wrong because my component was fine until the Verizon installation. He then said he could get a technician out Friday afternoon. June 6.
Anyone know who to contact at Corporate? Over two  months of Verizon hell makes me wonder why I switched from Comcast.

    Hi Ibutterfly,
Your issue has been escalated to a Verizon agent. Before the agent can begin assisting you, they will need to collect further information from you. Please go to your profile page for the forum and look at the top of the middle column where you will find an area titled "My Support Cases". You can reach your profile page by clicking on your name beside your post, or at the top left of this page underneath the title of the board.
Under "My Support Cases" you will find a link to the private board where you and the agent may exchange information. This should be checked on a frequent basis, as the agent may be waiting for information from you before they can proceed with any actions. To ensure you know when they have responded to you, at the top of your support case there is a drop down menu for support case options. Open that and choose "subscribe". Please keep all correspondence regarding your issue in the private support portal.

  • Problem with Installer and DVD drive

I am having problems with my dvd combo drive reading discs. It keeps spitting them out. More importantly, I am trying to load Adobe Illustrator CS2 and cannot get all the wat through the installation proccess. Is there a patch I am not aware of??

You could be looking at some kind of driver corruption issue (say if that sector on your hd had gone bad, or the file was dorked somehow). Have you done repaired permissions on the hd recently?
Do all types of DVDs fail -- music, movies, and apps? If some work and others do not, then it could be a problem with a particular app.
It never hurts to check the cables. Insufficient data or power can cause all kinds of problems.

  • After failed installation from DVD unable to uninstall to retry - Error message 2343

Having started installation of Elements 12 from DVD it failed before completing the installation and then rolled back the last two items on the installation list (out of 3). Now when running the DVD again it endeavours to do an uninstall before trying a reinstall. However it is unable to complete the uninstall process and fails every time with the Error 2343 - specified path is empty. Suggested options such as deleting temporary files and doing a clean boot produce exactlly the same result. This is on a Windows 7 Pro x64 PC with 8GB RAM and an i3 processor and 500GB disc with over 200GB free. It would seem that the only solution to remove the software is to edit the registry, as the standard uninstall process is clearly not going to complete. I therefore need to know what registry edits are needed in order to remove the programme complately from the PC. Otherwise it is clear that it is never going to be possible to install the software, which makes it rather a waste of money!

I had already tried that I'm afraid, without success. I therefore tried the installation on a different PC, also Windows7 Pro x64 but with different hardware (AMD proc., different disk controller and different DVD ROM but also with 8GB RAM and plenty of available disk space). The only other common parameter to note is that both PCs are running Bitdefender antivirus software. However I allow the AV software to completely check the Photoshop Elements 12 DVD ROM before starting the install process, as this can take severla minutes, so that the AV software does not need to access the DVD ROM drive during the install process. The software installation failed during the installation of the Shared Technologies scetion exactly as on the previous PC. I can only conclude that either there is a problem with Windows 7 Pro x64 or Bitdefender compatibility and that it will not be possible to install this software on either of these PCs in its current form. There has to be a limit as to how much time one is willing to spend on overcoming an incompatibility like this. I think I will have to find an alternative photo editing product (the Serif trial product seems to load without any problems on the original PC!). Thank you anyway for your help and suggestions but I think in this case we have hit a brick wall.

  • How can I get another Installation Disc (DVD) for my CS5 Application

I lost one of my DVD installation discs from my CS5 set.  I called Adobe and they said it was an older version and they don't have a link for me.  Does anyone know how I can get ahold of the CS5 Application disc???

    Welcome to the forum.
Adobe used to offer replacement discs for a minor charge.
However, that was usually for ONLY the current version - nothing available before. Once a version passed into history, the replacement discs were history too.
With the advent of Ps CC, I am not even sure if the Ps CS 6 replacement dics would be available now.
I would contact Adobe Customer Support (not Technical Support), and inquire.
    Good luck,

  • Installation Master DVD Distributed Java System Copy menu missing

    Hello Gurus
We want to perfom an Java system copy of our EP 6.0 using sapinst
The source OS is Solaris 8.0 with Oracle 10.2.0.2
The target OS is Solaris 10.0 with Oracle 10.2.0.2
Our architecture is Distributed , CI is running on a system and DB server on another system.
For this operation we use the master DVD 51033746_12 but we have an issue in exporting the DB as the
Option for exporting the DB on a Distributed system is not displayed on the sapinst Menu .
We followed the last guide taken from sap 'Homogeneous and Heterogeneous System Copy for SAP Systems Based on SAP Web Application Server Java 6.40 SR 1' and this option should be listed
    Excerpt:
Choose the installation service SAP NetWeaver u201904 Support Release 1--> Java System --><DB> --> Distributed System --> Migration - Database Export.
Unfortunately the Distributed system is not displayed and though we are stuck at the export step .
I could not find any sapinst patches . Is it a known issue for Soalris system and is there a Workaround .
    Thanks for your help
    De Palma Lionel .

    Hello
Thanks for your answer . Unfortunately this option is not available as we are using a NW04 SR1 system , not a nw'2004's one . With the latest master install (Installation_Master_6.20_6.40_05_08 51033746_5 )we have the choice of
System copy  Source --> Java system --> oracle --> Migration Data  export
-->  HA Java system --> oracle --> Migration Data  export
System copy  Target --> Java system --> oracle --> Central system-> Migration Data  export
Target --> Java system --> oracle --> Distributed system -> Migration Target Central instance / Db instance install
The Distributed system is available for Import option but no for the export one .
    My questions are :
    - Can we use a master nw2004's master DVD for system copy on a Nw'04s one ?
    - As the central instance is hosted on different system than DB instance , should I use the HA option ?

  • ECC 5 Installation - Kernel DVD incorrect

    Hello,
We are installing ECC 5.0 IDES on MaxDB/Windows 2003 x64 server and are getting stuck with Incorrect Kernel DVD specified. We tried with Unicode as well as Non-Unicode options and gave all the downloaded DVD's but it seems all downloaded DVD's are not the right DVD's for this Kernel.
We tried the following Kernel DVD's and they are not correct:
    51030720_1 to 51030720_8
Can anyone guide us as which DVD is the correct DVD for Kernel that we can download:  6.40:UKERNEL:*:AMD64  ?
    Thanks,
    Sangita

    > So how can we have ECC5 on NT x64?
Read the installation guides and the installation notes mentioned within.
    > We are trying to install IDES and PI 7.0 on same system with MaxDB. Can anyone suggest alternative method of installing IDES with PI 7.0?
PI 7.0? That product does not exist. There is an XI 3.0 (based on Netweaver 6.40) and a PI 7.1 based on Netweaver 7.10.
    > We don't want to install ECC 6.0.
    You don't "want"?

  • How can I resolve a "genuine software verification failure" during installation from DVD?

I have a set of 3 DVDs from my organization that has volume-licensed Adobe CS6 Production Premium.
I need to install it on a laptop that has no DVD drive.
I can mount the ISO image of the first DVD disk as a network drive, and can then proceed through installation. When I am asked to "insert the second disk", I mount the second ISO image, and installation proceeds. In the process, I enter the serial number / key provided by our IT department and sign in with my Adobe ID.
When installation finishes, however, I am informed there was an Adobe genuine software verification failure. The customer support link leads to this forum.
How can I resolve this, please?
I have searched the forums for related issues and can only find reports of similar problems for downloaded software. The advice there is to re-download the software. Should I expect my volume-license key to work for the downloaded software?
    Best regards,
    D Kreil

  • LabVIEW 2010 only installs if DVD drive is D:

My DVD drive letter was F or G and the installer for the LabVIEW 2010 Developer Suite would not run properly.  I believe the error was that a file was missing. I decided to try and make the drive D: and it worked after that.
    Just though others should know.

LV 2010 was missing from the distribution I was using.  After downloading the missing piece, install from F: went fine.

  • Download Lion Installer/recovery DVD

I want to creater installer DVD to recover my mac book. My macbook HDD got crashed.
Can I Download Lion Installer?? Anyone has any link for the same to create the recovery DVD?

Maybe maybe not. Some of the newer Macs use a special build of Lion or Mt Lion and the normal download of either of those 2 OSs will not work on those newer systems.
This system you recently bought is IT 4 months old or did you Buy it 4 months ago? And what is the Model Year of it?
If it is a Late 2011 model or newer you can use the Apple Online Internet Recovery system to Boot the computer from over the internet and then you can use Disk Utiltiy to partition the new drive  and then Reinstall the original version of OS X, Lion or Mt Lion, that came on it from the factory.
To access the Online Internet Recovery system at Starup Hold Down the Command+Option+r Keys Until you ksee a spinning globe in the center of the sceen. You Must Hold those key Down until you see the spinning globe in the center of the screen.

I purchased another Mac book Pro ( 4 months) old. The pro has error in the HDD and I want to recover it using lion Installer. If I make Lion installer out of my macbook  and use it for pro, will it work?

  • Installation of DVD disk drive by USB

In trying to install this USB DVD disk drive I receive this error when I try to click on this device which is listed as an MTV device in My Computer.  "You do not have permission to access this device."  Also my installed laptop DVD player/recorder is not listed in My Computer.   Somehow it looks like this "MTV" device has taken it's place.

I also purchased the HP Pavilion dv9910us laptop at Circuit City.  But I got it in the fall of 2008.  It has given me no real problems until Dec 2010 when I started having problems booting it up. Over one year after my one year warranty expired.  Turns out my Master Boot Record (MBR) on the hard drive needed to be reinstalled, which I did.  Around the same time I noticed that my DVD/CD only worked intermittently.  I rarely used the drive but I did notice I could sometimes play a DVD movie from it, but sometimes I could not.  Went into the BIOS and make the DVD drive the primary drive to boot up (vice the hard drive) and most of the times could not boot up with Window 7 installation DVD.  This has progressively gotten worse to the point I no longer have a working DVD drive.  The computer doesn't recognize the DVD/CD drive in the Device Manager.
Since I don't use it all that much I will try to disconnect or remove it and see if I can still use the laptop.  Otherwise I have found a replacement at getpartsonline dot com for fifty five bucks.
Another symptom I currently have is that I have to disconnect the USB cable that goes to my two USB hubs from the laptop or else the laptop doesn't boot up.  It just hangs at a BIOS screen.  Strange.  So I disconnect the USB cable, boot up, and then reconnect USB cable and all is good.
