  • Acrobat X pro (OSX 10.8.2) installation stalls at "running package scripts"

Can anyone help resolve this installation problem?

    Rave,
I have the same problem (10.8.2) trying to install Acrobat Pro X from the DVD. When I select just the Acrobat installation from the payloads folder on the DVD it's just Acrobat that's hanging at the "running package scripts" message. If I force quit the installer and restart the computer, Acrobat 10.0.0 will start up, but will not update to 10.1.5, giving DW006 and DW050 errors. If I do a total install from the DVD, same problem, so it appears specific to Acrobat. Thank you for the tip on getting the installer log. Please let me know if you need the whole 5 page .txt document or if this is enough to diagnose from.
    Thanks,
    Sean

  • Final cut studio stall on running package scripts

Final Cut Studio installer is hanging on "running package scripts."  Any thoughts?

Nothing specific, but here's a user tip with best practices for installation
    https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-2861
and if you've previously had fcp installed on this system, as mentioned in the user tip, be sure and wipe all traces of the app using digital rebellions uninstaller, before reinstalling.

  • Mac Acrobat install stalls while running package scripts

I just purchased the update to Mac Acrobat XI Pro, and while the download went smoothly, the installation process is stalled near the end. I can't quit the program and it doesn't seem to want to advance. Suggestions about how to proceed?
So, here's the deal: I've recently udgraded to a new iMac with OS X10.9, from an older Mac Pro with OS X 10.6.8. I migrated my CS6 apps over and they all work fine, except I've been getting those Acrobat update notices, and they've always failed. So, I mistakenly unistalled the olde version of Acrobat, 10.1.8 before buying the update from Adobe today. Now I can't get the update to install on the new iMac, although it installs and runs just fine on the old Mac Pro. But of course I want to transistion away from the old to the new and I'm stuck with no Acrobat on the new machine.
The installer is throwing line after line of these errors:
    Nov 23 15:46:45 Big-iMac.local installd[476]: ./preinstall: sudo: unable to stat /etc/sudoers: Permission denied
Nov 23 15:46:45 Big-iMac.local installd[476]: ./preinstall: sudo: no valid sudoers sources found, quitting
    Nov 23 15:46:45 Big-iMac.local installd[476]: ./preinstall: sudo: unable to stat /etc/sudoers: Permission denied
They just keep going, and going...

    Hi James,
You need to contact Apple regarding this as it's clearly a permission issue.
You might want to try the steps mentioned at : https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3680870?start=0&tstart=0

  • Snow Leopard XServe 10.6.3 upgrade frozen at "Running package scripts"?

The Automatic update program for installing and updating Snow Leopard xServe appears to be frozen at the "Running package Scripts." It has been at this position for about 12 hours with the bar all the way to the right on the install process. What is the verdict; do I let it run some more or should I do a hard reset and do the stand alone download and install?

I was having this problem and think I found the solution. I just got my computer new and was trying to install FCS 2. The installation would freeze at "Running Package Scripts." I tried many times, all with this result. Finally, I went to Activity Monitor to force quit the installer. I pulled up the CPU usage monitor and noticed that one of the threads was at a steady 100%. I quit the installer, but it was still at 100%. I checked the process list and noticed that there was a PowerPC process titled "translate" still running with 100% CPU usage.
So, I tried the install again. This time, instead of force quitting the installer, I force quit the "translate" process. Immediately, the installer kicked back in to action and finished. Hope this helps.

  • HT1199 I have been trying to redownload  itunes.  The download seems stuck on the "Running Package Scripts" page.  It says "about one minute" remaining for the download but, that was 2 hours ago.  Anything I can do?

I have been trying to re-download itunes.  This is in an effort to try to recover my new iphone 5s which after the latest update, was put into recovery mode.  When I connected to itunes, I was given the message that I couldn't recover the phone.  So, support suggested that I re-download itunes.  The installation seems stuck on the "Running Package Scripts" page.  It says it only has about a minute left to complete this process - however that was over 2 hours ago!  Help!  What can I do next?

Disconnect the iPhone from your Mac.
Shut down your Mac, wait about ten seconds then restart.
Then try downloading iTunes >  Apple - iTunes - Download iTunes Now
Do not reconnect the iPhone until iTunes is installed.
If that didn't help, the startup disk may need repairing.
Launch Disk Utility located in HD > Applications > Utillities
Select the startup disk on the left then select the First Aid tab.
Click:  Verify Disk  (not Verify Disk Permissions)
If DU reports errors, start up from your Mac install disc to make repairs.

  • Freezing when "Running Package Scripts"

    Hello,
Recently, I've tried running two different installations. One was a Microsoft Office update and the other was installing some design software. Both had the same problem - the Installer freezes once it gets to the "Running package scripts" part of the installation, with the install time remaining sticking at "Less than a minute." When this first happened with the Microsoft Office, I ended the program. Then when I was shutting down, it wouldn't let me shut down the computer until it ended, so I let it sit for a few hours and it finally worked. Is there any way to fix this issue?

    Hi there,
This can occasionally occur if your disk permission are incorrect. I would recommend taking a look at the article below and repairing the disk permission on your drive.

  • Software update freezes at running package scripts

I have owned this mini for two months. When I first brought it home, it required a software update. That failed and the computer quit working. Had to return it to the dealer for repairs. 2 weeks.
Today, I received the next software update message. Without thinking, I accepted it. Now the update has been stuck on "running package scripts" for 45 minutes.
Unfortunately, I did not look to see what was being updated. I have no idea what or how big.
I cannot find any information in the forums regarding what to do, but my only option is power off. To do the update, I logged out and did a restart. There is no way for me to kill this process and manually clean up the install directories.
Two software updates and two failed updates. Last time it physically harmed my computer.
    Any suggestions?

Just had the same problem. What I did to fix this was to log in with SSH and kill the Safari process. Looks as if having Safari running when starting the update (noticed the update was for Safari) prevents it from completing.

  • Trouble downloading Itunes 10.7 stuck on "running package scripts"

I have an new Ipad, and when trying to sync with my imac, it said that I must download itunes 10.7 in order to use itunes on my ipad.  I was able to download ok, but when I went to install, it stuck with one minute to go on the install - with the progress reported at "running package script"
    can anyone help

If you're running Mac OS X 10.6 through 10.6.7, run the Software Update pane of System Preferences.
If you're running Mac OS X 10.5 on an Intel Mac, buy a Mac OS X 10.6 DVD from the online Apple Store.
If you're running Mac OS X 10.5 on a PowerPC Mac, you can't.
    There is no iTunes 10.6.8.

  • MBP software update stuck at "running package scripts"

    Hello
I was updating my Macbook Pro and it was on the Install and Restart process but has been stuck on "Installing 6 items - Running package scripts" in the Software Update window for over an hour.
Nothing seems frozen because the mouse is running fine and the progress bar is still spinning, but I'm not really sure if this is normal or if there's something wrong.
    Any help is greatly appreciated!

  • My computer has been stuck on "running package scripts" for hours.

Hi, earlier tonight I tried to update my iTunes so I could in turn update my iPhone. My computer said I had 3 available updates, iTunes, Safari, and some type of security thing (I havent updated in a while.) So I I installed and restarted. It seemed to be going fine. But it's been about 2 hours since the restart and I am still on a grey screen with a pop up that says " Installing 3 items" "running package scripts" and the blue progress bar is about 3/4 of the way, which it has been since I started checking over an hour ago. Anyone have any ideas on how to go about fixing this problem? Thanks.
