Installation stuck, almost finished, can't cancel? mac osx 10.6.8

I've just purchased Creative Cloud, the installation is stuck nearly at the end. I can't cancel it. it's been about half an hour now just showing the blue line running but not going any further.  it doesn't show up on the force quit menu either.
how do I get out of here and get this installed?
thanks

Hallo,
you could try Adobe's "Troubleshoot download problems" at (esp. "Try this first" and "Try this second"):
http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/global/troubleshoot-download-problems.html and

How can i cancel my osx update?

There is no safe way. If it's been underway a while don't. If it's been underway no more than 5 minutes, then you can force quit the installer by pressing COMMAND-OPTION-ESC, select the installer application, then click on the Force Quit button.

Yes, assuming you have enough disk space, you can install 10.5 Leopard, 10.6 Snow Leopard, and 10.7 Lion.  If you want to upgrade to 10.7 Lion, I'd recommend a memory upgrade to at least 4GB.

  • Installer fails to initialize, CS5 Web Premium, Mac OSX 10.7.3

OK I had a trial of Dreamweaver 5.5 on my Macbook which has expired. I uninstalled and now I'm trying to install our web premium cs5. Getting error, 'installer failed to initialize'
Downloaded the support advisor, it says there are no issues.
    Any ideas ?
    Rich

Fixed. We created an ISO from the web premium DVD and copied that onto the Mac, then used the Mac ISO mounter and it installed fine from there.
    Thanks

  • Can i Install Mac OSX Leopard 10.5 /10.6 ?

    Hello guys,
I've bought about 3 weeks ago an iPhone 3G. Since i have my iPhone i like to produce software for the iPhone with the developers kit from apple. But i have one problem. I have an Acer Aspire notebook with:
    4GB memory
    Intel Processor (2,2 GHZ)
    Ati Videocard
    Windows Vista Premium
Can i Install Mac OSX on this notebook ? Maybe with dual boot.
    Best Regards,
    Theodoor de Wit

A slightly different perspective from what others have already posted:
Even assuming there were no licensing/legal problems with this & you could somehow successfully hack the OS & SDK to install & run on your Acer, would you really want to try to use that as a development platform for iPhone apps? It would be like trying to build a sturdy house on an uncertain foundation: you would never know if or when the whole thing might collapse or how to tell if the fault was in what you built or not.
If you want to develop for the iPhone, invest in a Mac. If you are any good at it, judging from the success stories you could quickly & easily make back the cost of that investment & much more. Even if you don't, you will have a very well made & supported computer running what is arguably the most stable & user-friendly OS on the planet.

can i install mac osx in pc?it is  fully work or not

Note 10.9.1 is not the same as Mac OS 9.1.  13 years separate those operating systems.  If you have questions regarding your MacBook Pro, post to the MacBook Pro forum.  If they are questions regarding 10.9, post to:

    which is what 10.9 is.

  • I deleted Mac Os hard drive partition during bootcamp windows 8 installer. Now i can't reinstall Mac Os

I just reinstalled Mac OS (mountain lion) and installed windows 8 via Bootcamp. During the install I accidently deleted the partition where i installed MAC os on.
Now i just can't install Mac OS, i run windows fine. I been searing the web for a solution, but nothing seems to work for me.
I've tried to make a partition in disk manager in windows (once with NTFS, and also in FAT32 format), then i reboot my computer and hold the command key, go into revocery and press reinstall, but I cant choose any of the discs who appears. I tried to delete the diffrent partitions in disk utility in the recovery. But the system just gives me an error, and woun't allow me to delete any of them. I still got my partition with Mac Os Mountain Lion install on (the recovery) on, but how do i get it installed again? I also tried to press the command + r button and do it through the web, but without any luck.
I've tried this topic https://discussions.apple.com/message/17703007#17703007 , but dosent work!
Really hope someone can help me, since i haven't found a topic who solved this for me.

You can't install OSX on a Fat or NTFS formatted partition. OSX needs HFS+.
Boot to recovery, erase your disk, reinstall OSX and then redo Windows.
Read the Boot Camp directions (available on page 1 of Boot Camp Assistant)

  • Can not install Mac OSX Update Combo10.4.5 PPC

I have a clean installation of Tiger on a Power Mac G4 (AGP graphics) with Sonnet 1 ghz processor upgrade, updated to 10.4.3 by running Software Update. No other updates available at this time.
So I downloaded MacOSXUpdCombo10.4.5PPC.dmg and it stops at "Select a Destination."
"You cannot install Mac OSX Update Combined (Power PC) on this volume. This volume does not meet the requirements for this update."
I must have installed this update previously, to get to 10.4.6, to install Adobe CS3 which REQUIRES 10.4.6.
Now I can't figure out how I got this update installed - sorry if this has been posted previously.
This isn't my main machine, thankfully, but I use it as a spare in the studio to transfer images to.
Can anyone help me get this OS updated to 10.4.6?
I don't have the original processor, so re-installing it isn't an option.
    Thanks.

No, I wouldn't ignore them, I think we really have more messed up than just this, and if any of these steps fix it, we'll likely need new downloads.
    "Try Disk Utility
    1. Insert the Mac OS X Install disc that came with your computer, then restart the computer while holding the C key.
    2. When your computer finishes starting up from the disc, choose Disk Utility from the Installer menu. (In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you must select your language first.)
*Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from the disc again to access Disk Utility.*
    3. Click the First Aid tab.
    4. Click the disclosure triangle to the left of the hard drive icon to display the names of your hard disk volumes and partitions.
    5. Select your Mac OS X volume.
    6. Click Repair. Disk Utility checks and repairs the disk."
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106214
Then try a Safe Boot, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, reboot when it completes.
The usual reason why updates fail or mess things up, is if Permissions are not fixed before & after every update, with a reboot... you may get a partial update when the installer finds it doesn't have Permissions to change one obscure little part of the OS, leaving you with a mix of OS versions.
Some people get away without Repairing Permissions for years, some for only days.
If Permissions are wrong before applying an update, you could get mixed OS versions, if Directory is the slightest messed up, who knows!
If many Permission are repaired, or any Directory errors are found, you may need to re-apply some the latest/biggest updates.
May even need to do an Archive and Install if you have room on the HD, but saves all your files and gives a new OS...
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=107120
I only use Software Update to see what is needed, then get them for real via...
    http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/
That way I can wait a week or so, check the forums for potential problems, and get Permissions & such in order before installing.
If all the above fails, then it appears to be time for an Archive & Install, which gives you a new/old OS, but can preserve all your files, pics, music, settings, etc., as long as you have plenty of free disk space...
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=107120
Just be sure to select Preserve Users & Settings.

  • Can i install mac osx back again after installing windows 7 on my mac book a1181?

i have apple mac book a1181 white, but i had problem logging on as it was secured by a password, and i allready lost my recovery dvd, so i installed windows 7 on my mac book a1181 by deleting its partition from GTP to NTFS but i experienced problems after installing windows 7 as sound was not comming as i could not find sound drivers for macintosh, so now i plan again to restore my apple macbook a1181 back by reinstalling mac osx 10.5.8, how can i again install mac osx on my notebook and is it possible to re-install mac on my notebook? please give me some help.

Insert your OS X install disc and restart holding the C key, hold it down until you see the Apple logo and spinning gear. Choose your language and at the next screen from the top menu bar select Utilities-Disk Utility. Select your internal hard drive, click on the Partition tab and select 1 partition. Click on the Options button and select GUID partition scheme. Click OK. Choose to format the drive as Mac OS Extended Journaled. When Disk Utility is done and your drive is properly partitioned and formatted quit DU and go back to the installer screen and reinstall OS X. When you're up and running run software update a couple times to get everything up to date as far as you can with 10.5.8. Then consider upgrading to OS X 10.6.8 Snow Leopard for $19.99 here http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC573/mac-os-x-106-snow-leopard

  • HT2261 how can i download mac osx 10.5

hi i want to download mac osx 10.5 how can i do

Note, MacBook Pros newer than October 26, 2007 may need to watch out which 10.5 installer disk they get.
Apple released 10.5.1, 10.5.4, and 10.5.6 as retail releases.    Given the fact that Apple has 10.6 available and it is compatible with more applications than 10.5, and has more current security updates available, I would say that for MacBook Pros it is far better to purchase 10.6, and bring it up to 10.6.8, than buy any version of 10.5.  Only a few applications can run on 10.5 only.  Everything you needed to know about 10.6 is here:
    https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-2455
If you don't rely that heavily on old software you may want to jump straight to 10.7 or later after that:

  • Can i install mac osx v10.2 on my ibookg4?

My i book at present runs of v10.3.9, and i would like to install v10.2 as this is the operating system that the driver for my new scanner needs. . . .
i have all the original set up discs but when i try to install it seems to restart the computer and start as if nothing has changed
i know changing the operating system sounds extreme for the sake of a scanner but its a really old computer so all i want to use it for is scanning and saving high res images on photos!
. . . . is v10.2 to old a system for an i book g4 / or is the problem that i already have a newer operating system installed?

    thank you for your reply. . . . .
my ibook spec's are as follows
    Machine Model: iBook G4
    CPU Type: PowerPC G4 (1.1)
    Number Of CPUs: 1
    CPU Speed: 1.07 GHz
L2 Cache (per CPU): 512 KB
    Memory: 512 MB
    Bus Speed: 133 MHz
    Boot ROM Version: 4.8.5f0
The scanner i have is a Mustek ScanExpress A3 USB (connection) 1200 Pro, the system requirements are .mac OSX / available USB port/ cd-rom drive / colour monitor / 32mb of ram / 32mb available hard disk space for software installation. As far as the driver goes i have spoken to the support team at Mustek and they said that the only drivers for mac they have at present can be found here -
    http://www.mustek.de/eng_/html/treiber/scanner/sea3usb1200pro.htm
the problem is that the drivers are only available for the Op systems that are a whole number i.e.. v10.2/ v10.3/ v10.4 / v10.5 , and with me having v10.3.9 installed at on my ibook i can't seem to get hold of a working driver.
as i say all i use the ibook for is storing image files and have everything on the comp backed up on CD's
i brought a copy of v10.2 purely because it was the cheapest operating system i could find

  • Bought new Hitachi HD can't install Mac osx there is no destination drive and i already formatted to mac os extended journaled

So i tried upgrading my hard drive to a new hitachi HD and when i tried using the mac osx dvd it doesn't find the hard drive in the destination page. i formatted it to mac os extended journaled with 1 partition and nothing i'm stuck.... here is a picture of the disk utility page i took a screenshot of.... please help

"i tried upgrading my hard drive to a new hitachi HD"
Your havnt said what your trying to do so your posts are very confusing
with this new drive do you want to:
install the operating system on the new drive
format the drive to use it as storage
    create a standby bootable drive
    something else entirely
Your screen shots show you have an internel drive and three other drives
The drive you have erased is an external USB connected drive - youv erased and partitioned the drive and it shows it is working OK
what do you want to do now?
if the idea is to replace your original systen drive with this new drive youv bought the wrong kind of drive it should have been an internal drive
but you need to explain wahat as the drive shows it functioning correctly

  • TA48312 How can I download Mac OSX 10.6 snow leopard

    Hi ,
I use to Mac OS X v10.5.8 but I want to update to my MacBook and I need to Mac OSX v10.6 snow leopard... ???

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
Mac OS X Snow Leopard is not free. It can be purchased in a DVD at the Apple Online Store > http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC573Z/A/mac-os-x-106-snow-leopard
Before upgrading, make a backup of your files onto an external drive with Time Machine. After upgrading, open  > Software Update to install Mac OS X 10.6.8, so you will be able to install iTunes 11.1.4.
If you want to upgrade to OS X Mavericks, see > http://www.apple.com/osx/how-to-upgrade

  • Can not remove mac osx base system drive

    Hi folks..
Just trying to do a complete clean install of Mountain Lion. I booted up from a USB and erased the Macbook hardrive completely.
However I see a second drive/partition below that says 'disk2 - Mac OSX Base system' and it's about 2 gigs in size. I want to wipe and delete this too so that I will have just one single partion but disk utility will not letr me even touch it.
The 'erase' and Security options are greyed out and inactive and there is some text to the right that says: "This is the start up partition you can not erase it".
I don't see how it can be a start up partition as it's only 2 gigs in size and the main 750 gig drive has already been wiped.
How can i get rid of this drive/partition completely?
    Thanks.

That's Mt. Lion's Recovery volume which you could have used to erase the working volume and do a clean install of Mt. LIon.  To get rid of it you may have to try to repartition the entire drive with Disk Utility.
Otherwise, reboot with the Command+R keys held down to boot into the Recovery volume.  Once there run Disk Utility to again erase the working volume and then do an install of Mt. Lion. This method is much easier and quicker than doing it from the USB device.
