Installation telling me to close internet explorer, but it's closed.  Help!

I keep trying to install Flash Player, but it keeps telling me to close Internet Explorer to continue.  It's frustrating because my internet is closed.  What is happening?

Download the following file by right clicking and selecting "Save target as"
Flash Player for ActiveX (Internet Explorer)
Save the file to your Downloads folder - DO NOT RUN it yet.
Reboot your system.
BEFORE opening anything else, go to your Downloads folder and run the ActiveX Installer.

  • Problem installing Flash Player-says to close Internet Explorer, but it's already closed

I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling Flash Player, and have checked that it is installed and enabled, but still the application that requires Flash Player asks for it to be installed.  When I try to install it again, it says to close Internet Explorer and retry, which I do, but to no avail.  Any ideas would be much appreciated!

Empty?  Did you click on the Processes tab?
Try the following: download the offline installer from http://helpx.adobe.com/content/help/en/flash-player/kb/installation-problems-flash-player- windows.html#main-pars_header and save it to disk.  Restart Windows, then before doing anything else, run the downloaded installer.

  • On the same machine, Adobe Flash Player installs and operates satisfactorily in Internet Explorer but does not install at all in Firefox. What to do? I'd prefer using Firefox in lieu of Explorer.

The machine is running Windows 7, 32 bit. Downloaded Firefox today (Jun 7, 2011) so it should be the latest version. Same with Flash Player.

    Hi
Javascript no longer works in Internet ExplorerJavascript has nothing to do with Java.
The fact that I have no problems whatsoever in Firefox leads me to believe that the issue lies with IE.Sounds about right.
When I go to check if I have Java at http://java.com/en/download/help/testvm.xml?ff3 I get a pop up log in box saying "the server java.com at SUN ONE web server requires a username and password" (when using IE - Firefox / Opera display the dancing duke symbol as they should)
It sounds like you are now talking about having Applets run in your browser. Before you talk to IE customer support, you should nail down what your problem actually is, JavaScript or Java Applets, they are different technologies belonging to different people and implemented very differently.
What's going on?You have a problem with Internet Explorer. Either ask their customer service or stop using it.

  • Images made into links (in divs) not working in Internet Explorer but works in Firefox. help!

    Hey guys,
The text links are fine, but the image links don't work in internet explorer. Anyone know why this is happening?
    Sample code:
    <a href="facebook"><div class="fb"><img src="Facebook.png" /></div></a>
The link links to another HTML in my site

If you anticipate having more questions, a great self help is to validate your code, that is, test your code against the rules set for the particular DOCTYPE you are using.
    http://validator.w3.org/
"you have attempted to put a block-level element (such as "<p>" or "<table>") inside an inline element (such as "<a>", "<span>", or "<font>").
In this case it would have pointed out that you can't put a <div> inside an <a>.
    Best wishes,

  • I can access farmville on internet explorer but can no longer access it on firefox. why?

I have always played Farmville on Mozilla Firefox. I have all the lastest download, Firefox, Adobe Flashplayer. etc. Now all of a sudden since last night, I can't get into it. I play it through Facebook on Mozilla.
I can play on Internet Explorer but not Mozilla. Why??

IE uses an ActiveX version of Flash. Most other browsers use a plug-in version of Flash. Firefox and most other browsers do not use ActiveX. See: [[ActiveX]]
    <u>'''Install/Update Adobe Flash Player for Firefox'''</u>: your ver. 10.0 r42; current ver. 10.0 r45
    See: '''[http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Managing+the+Flash+plugin#Updating_Flash Updating Flash]'''
-'''<u>use Firefox to download</u>''' and <u>'''SAVE to your hard drive'''</u> (save to Desktop for easy access)
    -exit Firefox (File > Exit)
-check to see that Firefox is completely closed (''Ctrl+Alt+Del, choose Task Manager, click Processes tab, if "firefox.exe" is on the list, right-click "firefox.exe" and choose End process, close the Task Manager window'')
-double-click on the Adobe Flash installer you just downloaded to install/update Adobe Flash
-when the Flash installation is complete, start Firefox, and test the Flash installation here: http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=tn_15507&sliceId=1
*<u>'''NOTE: On Vista and Windows 7'''</u> you may need to run the plugin installer as Administrator by starting the installer via the right-click context menu if you do not get an UAC prompt to ask for permission to continue (i.e nothing seems to happen). See this: http://vistasupport.mvps.org/run_as_administrator.htm
*'''<u>NOTE for IE:</u>''' Firefox and most other browsers use a Plugin. IE uses an ActiveX version of Flash. To install/update the IE ActiveX Adobe Flash Player, same instructions as above, except use IE to download the ActiveX Flash installer.

  • How to close Internet Explorer and other programs running on Windows?

In order for Flash Player to be installed or updated, any programs that use Flash Player must be closed.  This includes Internet Explorer or other browsers, instant messengers, Skype, etc.
These programs may be running in the background, not as visible windows, but need to be closed anyway.
To close such programs use the Windows Task Manager.  To start Task Manager, take any of the following actions:
Press CTRL+ALT+DELETE, and then click Task Manager.
    Press CTRL+SHIFT+ESC.
Right-click an empty area of the taskbar, and then click Task Manager.
Once the Task Manager is running, select the Processes tab.  On older Windows version you may need to click on the Process Name or Image Name header to sort the process names.
Now right-click on every process that the Flash Player installer needs to close (e.g. iexplore.exe), then select End Process.
It would be desirable if the Flash Player installer could perform that action by itself; I have therefore created an enhancement request.  If you were affected by this problem, please head over to the Bugbase and vote for this request: https://bugbase.adobe.com/index.cfm?event=bug&id=3548136

  • Microsoft adcenter ad titles appear in internet explorer but not in firefox in English

Microsoft adcenter ad titles appear in internet explorer but not in firefox in English
Tried Microsoft help but so far unable to identify problem.
Thought it might be connected to java but removal of java makes no difference
Starting in safe mode resolves problem but about 500 add ons suspected

If it does work in Safe-mode then disable all your extensions and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one at a time until the problem reappears.<br />
You can use "Disable all add-ons" on the [[Safe mode]] start window to disable all extensions.<br />
You have to close and restart Firefox after each change via "File > Exit" (Mac: "Firefox > Quit"; Linux: "File > Quit")
    See [[Troubleshooting extensions and themes]]
    * If you have many extensions then you can first enable half of the extensions to test which half has the problem.
Continue to divide the bad half that still has the issue until you find which one is causing it.

    Hi JP,
my IE 8 shows your website correctly in my oppinion (hope I understood your concern in the right way), please have a look here:
    First phase:
    Second phase:
    Third phase:
By the way, your "automatic srolling news on the top" starting with "Welcome to Ajana Transportation" also works fine.

    P.S.
If you would come closer to the rotate idea, we should use for the required time segments simply the same images and call them in a multiple manner in the list.
