Installation time

Hi there,
I am trying to install some packages with yaourt and have this question : Why the installation time is so long ? This kind of installation take many time for me and I don't know what this the reason of this problem. I am trying to install this package : https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/pycrypto-git
I need it for "jrnl".
After 1h:

according to pycryptosite, the url should be https://github.com/dlitz/pycrypto .
Also the PKGBUILD needs updating to reflect pacman 4.1.x changes.
for now, try changing the _gitroot variable to https://github.com/dlitz/pycrypto in the PKGBUILD.

Usage dependency is created at Build time and installation time

Hi,
The infrastructure guys have selected the usage dependency as Build time and Installation time, while creating software components.
"Y" SWC is created as depedency for "X" software component.
In SLD(software catalog), we are able to view the Y component as dependency in X component(at both build time and installation time). In usage dependency we are able to view Y component but when we click Y component in usage dependecy we are also able to view X component. Is there any problem with this ?
There is another issue. we are able to view basis object(in IR) in Y component but not in X component. Actually as per the above configuration basis object in IR should appear in X component.
Please refer to another forum which may give you some more idea.("BPM - Message interfaces of one component are not appearing in another comp") pasted on 17 Nov,2006.
Please could you provide us the inputs.

Ridiculously long installation time for CS6?

I'm downloading the CS6 Master Collection through the University of Maryland software center website. I downloaded all the different parts required for installing, and now the installation time remaining says 20 hours and it's still going up. I've closed out all the other applications on my Mac. Is there anything I can do? I can't click go back or continue either.

The same thing is happening to me (downloading from UMD), and I don't think it's a corrupt file.... I've re-downloaded the Master Collection .dmg and .dmgpart files and the Web & Design Collection .dmg and .dmgpart files, and the same thing happens when installing either one. I have to force-quit the installer, do a hard reboot on my computer (it won't let me shut down while it thinks the installer is still running), and then uninstall whatever got installed and run the cleaner.
It always freezes up at about 40% of the way through the installation process, "Running package scripts..." The progress bar doesn't advance even a pixel.... I know this because I took screenshots and compared. The "Install Time Remaining" just keeps getting longer and longer, with no apparent change.

Ora-12560 at installation time....

Hello all,
My server has Windows 2008 x86 installed,
I try to install oracle 11g for 32bit.
Installation of oracle server goes smooth and nice but when this installer starts configuring DB and reach at 2% it throws an erro ORA-12560 TNS PROTOCOL ADAPTER ERROR.
I dont change any parameters it asks at installation time.
Further when I try to create database with DBCA it also shows same error at same place...
Need help to Create DB...

In oracle Documentation I found following,
TNS: lost contact
Cause: OracleServiceSID service, OracleHOME_NAMETNSListener service, or both are not running. You receive this error if you attempt to use any Oracle Database utilities, such as SQL*Plus. This error is analogous to the following Oracle7 error: ORA-09352: Windows 32-bit Two-Task driver unable to spawn new ORACLE task.
Action: Ensure that both services are started.
And very exactly both of services are not running on my server.
When I start them from windows services, they dont...
So how to start them and what should my next action.

EHP4 Installation Time

I am hearing rumors of extremely long installation times related to EHP4. Can you comment on what you are seeing in the marketplace as I was involved in an EHP1 ramp up and it was very simple.

I have installed EHP4 on various systems of various sizes and configurations on different databases (14 different systems). None of those installations were faster or quicker than EHP3 installations we did last year, if one sees the total runtime.
If one sees only the downtime, this may be true but this comes with the (very expensive) price of needing to lock the transport/development environment in a VERY early stage when phase RSDBSCPY starts. With the default non-easily changable parameters of only two copy processes that phase takes up to 30 - 40 % or more of the total runtime. This behavior makes it very difficult to plan the right point when to start. If started too early in the week the business may suffer because necessary transports can't be imported, if started too late, a weekend won't be enough to get through.
This is especially true for systems with big basis tables (e. g. AGR_HIER*) where millions of entries are to be copied more or less sequentially.
Our total runtimes (completely) are from 42 to 113 hours, depending on the system configurations (2 up to 16 physical CPUs and 8 to 64 GB RAM) and the number of customized import/batch processes. The databases used were Oracle, MaxDB and SQL Server 2008.
Our dowtimes were from 7,5 hours to ~ 16 hours. However, having the system in a locked TMS state could also be considered as "downtime" if critical transports cannot be applied any more.
Downtime reduction is a good goal - but "normal" upgrades using EU_IMPORT* phases are much more convenient to plan than a non-configurable RSDBSCPY.

Grace à cela, la TC se connecte à la box sans fil mais devient un appareil externe, ce qui veut dire qu'on ne peux pas se connecter dessus en sans fil ou même y accéder de l'extérieur (comme moi)
Juste y accéder comme une clé USB et accéder au donnée, rien de plus.

Why does my Adobe Reader installation time out at 64 percent on Windows XP?
I am currently running version 9.5.2.

This "timeout at 64%" issue has been reported more than a few times here.
You can try direct download from

If you can dedicate some time and help to investigate the issue, here is what I would ask:
Before trying the link I have provided, can you please enable verbose MSI logging and try to install Reader the way you did originally - I assume that you used Adobe.com, right?
If it fails again at 64%, please find the latest MSIxxxxx.log file in the Temp folder and send it to me.
To enable Windows Installer logging

Yeah, how fast is your computer? Is this particular installation extra long? and if it is, watch the status bar to see if its actually going, and if its going jsut fine then wait. It took me about 45 mins i think, maybe less, i have a fast comp.

I have just moved house and as our Exchange has finally just been upgraded to adsl2 (some two years after it was originally planned) I decided to go with BT. I placed the order online and was given an appointment date of the 17th of November.
I placed the order a week before moving so once I actually got in to the house I rang BT to see if they could speed this up at all because I have to be able to work from home for my job, and a 2 month delay causes me huge problems.
I got through to the people in India who then told me I hadn't booked an engineer and as such the whole order needed to be cancelled and started again. I tried to explain that the web site booked the engineer for me and that I actually had a date and time window when the engineer would be coming but this got me nowhere. I asked to speak to a supervisor and got put on hold for several minutes only for the person I originally spoke to to come back to me and tell me that they had spoken to the supervisor, who agrees that I had placed the order incorrectly and we would have to start again.
I gave in at that point and let them do it. My new installation date is now the 27th of November. Great! I asked again if this could be improved, and was told someone would call me back within 3 days. I left it a week and called again. This time I was assured someone would call within 24 hours. Same time the next day nobody had called back, so I called again.
This time i was told it would actually be up to 48 hours so I should give them another day. Still nothing so I called again. This time I was promised that someone would definitely call within 24 hours and I didn't need to worry.
Can you guess what happened next? Yep you guessed it - absolutely nothing.
The worrying thing is I am a new customer to BT and this is the way I get treated. I deal with BT for the company I work for and that is usually a reasonably positive experience, but then I have access to a local business team who are 30 minutes down the road and understand what I need.
Indian call centres may be much cheaper than UK based ones, but you can't put a price on good customer service - something that my bank thankfully realised a few years ago.

BT do not provide or maintain the external network. This is done by Openreach who work for all service providers. BT do not get any special treatment.
Openreach have a backlog of work due to the recent bad weather, so installation and repairs are taking much longer than normal.
Long delays are common at the moment, with all service providers. There is not much anyone can do about it. Business customers usually get priority.

Windows 7 and Nvidia driver installation time-out

Hey everyone... I'm having issues installing my drivers...
I've overclocked the 9600 GPU in my 15" unibody quite some time back in windows vista. The thing is, after moving to windows 7, the official drivers from nvidia dont seem to install right. The hang for about 5 to 10 minutes and eventually finish, without completely installing the drivers.
I've tried manual installations only to receive a "operation timed-out" reply from the windows driver update dialogue. Is there anything anyone can help me out with? Anyone going through the same **?
I don't want to use drivers from "laptopvideo2go" however... they seem to install correctly but there's something about them that bugs me...

GRC Installation Times

Hello,
I've been searching over the internet and here in the forums and i haven't seen one single reference to how much time in "Man Days" are required, at a high level of analysis, to implement GRC Access Controls and Process Control.
Can anyone of you, gurus, tell me aproximately how long, aproximately (it can be an interval if you like) it takes an implementation of these 2 GRC components?
The client runs SAP already, wants to integrate HR existant and futre information, do not want EP. The rest it seems to me, that the functionalities of Access Controls will all be installed as well as the functionalities of Process Control.

Alpesh is right. It would take approximately 2 man weeks considering no errors and problems occured during installation phase. Regarding the implementaion scenario, I can talk only abt AC, as I do not know much about PC implementation. AC Implementation would take approximately 3-6 months depending on your resource allocation and client team availability/cooperation.

Installation time of Logic stduio

HI all,
Just wondered if any else has had the same problem as me with installing Studio 8 on iMacs.
Basically, I start the installation, all OK, but when the installer shows the install time remaining, it starts at 15 hrs or so. Installation doesn't take quite that long, but it stills comes in at about 7 hours.
My first install of Studio 8 was to a 15" MacBook Pro 2.0 Ghz Core 2 Duo with 2Gb of RAM and it took about 3 hours. The 15 hrs message has now occurred on three iMacs, one 20" 2.0Ghz and two 24" 2.4Ghz machines. All of these were brand new machines running 10.5.1 and all had 2Gb of RAM. Studio 8 was the first install on all machines. Didn't have this problem on a 24" 2.4 running 10.4.10, so I was wondering.....any ideas anyone?

By the way, I used three different sets of Logic discs and they all worked perfectly on G5's.

I just bought a 2.2Ghz Macbook Pro w/ 2GB ram and a 7200RPM Disk + OS 10.5.1 and am having exactly the same issue and its painful. I ordered it by phone and asked for Logic Studio to be pre-installed. The order taker got it wrong and put Logic Express it instead. I called support and they Shipped Studio.
Straight from the factory Logic Express, was showing all kinds of duplicate sounds and loops from GarageBand in the library. (refresh did nothing)
Today Logic Studio arrived and I installed it and it took well over 8 hours. I had a look at the CPU load and page rates during the install and it was not even marginally loaded (Im a total Unix Geek but an OSX virgin).
Once installed I looked an there were even more duplicates in the library, but all of the Jam Pack data, and much of the 3 disk Audio files set were missing.
I thought that reinstalling might skip the already installed stuff (not true) and only add the missing stuff, so Im currently in the middle of reinstalling it and it says it will take another 7 hours to finish.
I came to the forum to find some answers and found out that the duplicates problem doesn't have a resolution, and the install time thing is a mystery.
Yikes! Im a bit scared that I've made a big mistake.

Why does the installation time out once it's reached 41%?

I have Windows 7 Operating System and everytime I try to download and install Adobe Reader it times out once it reaches around 41% and I get a message Adobe not installed. Does anyone know how to get around this issue?

How to reduce installation time?

Dear Legends,
I have installed ORACLE LINUX 5 and in that 12.1.1 and then upgraded to 12.1.3 in a 64bit machine, which takes a time of nearly 15hours in one machine and 20 hours in one machine.
Now i need to install it in another machine, is there anyway to install the same set of OS AND EBS less than 5hours?
Either i have to do a CLONE or BACKUP THE SAME SET OF COPY and HOW to LOAD the same set of copy into another machine? If so is there any reference for DOC ID's or any blogs?
I kindly request you to provide me your valuable suggestions.

Solaris Installation times

This is the second time this week I installed Solaris 10 on a laptop one hard drive was 4200 rpm and now this one is 5400. I'm seeing like 2.5 hours install times for Entire Distribution and OEM. What has been others experiences? Thanks Mark

30 mins with a jumpstart (not entire dist though, i never install the sunone/iplanet stuff nor staroffice, which saves a few gig) and a reasonably new hardware (as new as my company will buy :p).
