Installation Trouble with Photoshop Disk

I'm trying to reinstall photoshop cs3 from the original disk. I have the correct serial number and it says it's invalid. Later, I had upgraded to cs5 and tried that serial number and that does not work either. I had to do a fresh reinstall after my computer got reconfigured. I'm on Windows 8.

you can upgrade to ps cs6 from cs5 and cs5.5:  http://www.adobe.com/products/photoshop/buying-guide-upgrades.html
but i think you may have problems with everything you try until you properly remove your previous ps versions.
to start, run the cleaner:  http://www.adobe.com/support/contact/cscleanertool.html
then try to install which ever program you really want.
if you only want cs5, just install it.  you don't need cs3 installed in order to install a cs5 upgrade.  you will need the cs3 serial number (and the cs5 serial number).
if you want both (or all 3) cs3 and cs5 and/or cs6 installed, install cs3 first.
but, do one thing at a time.  adding complications to your installation probably won't fix any fundamental problems caused by whatever button your pressed.
do you know if that button was a rollback or restore button that restore your computer to a time before you installed cs3?

Having trouble with Photoshop cs6. Brushes that i have downloaded from 3rd party websites were deleted from Photoshop after months of use. We replaced all the brushes 1 by 1 but now there is an extreme lag in almost every function in photoshop that i had never experienced before. Dont know what is going wrong.

  • Trouble with install disks - is it OK to make a copy of them?

Finally, I am trying to make a copy of the install disks that came with my MBP. This was recommended in several threads for preserving the original and having backups just in case.
I used Disk Utility to make a disk image - choosing DVD/CD master, no encryption - as I was instructed on another thread. I made the disk images fine of the 2 disks - they are now saved as disk images in the .cdr format. While I was at it, I made a disk image of the TechTool Deluxe CD that came with my AppleCare.
When I inserted a CD (and then I tried a DVD) into the slot to Burn the disk image of the first (and then the second) install disk, I got the message that there is not enough room on the disk I am trying to use (for either disk). I had no trouble burning a disk of the TechTool Deluxe - I did that on a CD.
When I go to Get Info for the disk image for the 2 install disks, it looks like each is no larger than 5 plus GB, which seems strange.
    What am I doing wrong?
    Mrs H

When you make images of the discs, it is compressed. So when you get info of the image, that is smaller than the actual disc size. You said disc two was 3.97gb but really uncompressed it is likely over 6GB. For both install discs one and two, you need dual-layer DVDs to burn.
    Thanks for your help, mdpeterman.
I wondered about the compressed issue - but since I chose CD/DVD master, (from Disk Utility Help: "If you want to use the disk image with a third-party application, choose CD/DVD master. The disk image contains a copy of all sectors of the disk, whether they're used or not, and copies them to other CDs or DVDs bit for bit") with no encryption I assumed that the size of the disk image was identical to the original.
What you say tells me I'm wrong - that even with DVD master bit for bit, the image is compressed. Right?
I'll get back to you when I have solved this...

  • Trouble with LaCie disk and time machine

    HI everyone,
I've been having trouble with using time machine to back-up to my 1 TB LaCie drive (purchased 5/12, unfornuately I was dumb and didn't register the drive and no longer have the box with the serial number and there is no serial number on my drive. The only problem I had up until the end of August was that every so often the LaCie drive (using my FW 800 port) would unmount after waking up from sleep.
The end of August the drive unmounted for no reason while I was on the computer doing a task. Could not get the LaCie drive remounted (rebooting, etc. etc.) To make a long story short, ended up calling apple care who took me through resetting my SMC and PRAM to no avail. Was booted to higher level of support who walked me through trying to repair my drive using the disk utiltiy. When that didn't work, she walked me through erasing and reformatting the LaCie drive and starting a new time machine back-up. Every thing ok until about ten days ago.
Last week, when I woke my iMac up from sleep, I got an error saying that the disk was not ejected properly and I could not mount the drive. Restarting did nothing, the disk did not  mount. Shutting down and rebooting seemed to solve the problem and the disk was mounted. Every so often I've had the problem with the disk unmounting after waking up from sleep before. So, I changed my energy sleep preferences. At the end of the day when I am done, I'd unmount the LaCie drive before putting the Mac to sleep using the apple menu.
Today I came in to start my day, plugged the drive in and it would not mount. Tried rebooting nothing. Went into the disk utility, at first the LaCie drive passed the disk verify (6:26:25 and 6:26:38). Then I went into repair disk on the indented drive at 6:27:13, I wasn't sure what it is was doing, thinking that it had hung, I stopped the repair at 6:27:24. Exited disk utility, and the LaCie drive mounted. But I was getting a read only error when I tried to back-up using time machine. So, I went back into disk utility at 6:27:35, when I verified the disk (indented disk), I got an error saying the disk need to be repaired. After several minutes the disk could not be repaired. So, I erased and reformatted the drive. Ran a time machine back-up and it seemed to back-up everything on my hard drive. Just ran another verify disk and it passed.
Is the drive failing? Have some other back-ups of my documents, my address book, iCal and am going to make a backup of some of my pref files and important e-mail files and am going to do some more back-ups after I am done.
Have reached out to the women at apple care whom I talked to last August, but don't expect to hear back from her for at least 24 hours.
Here is my disk utility log

I just got a call back from the upper level support person at apple care who had been advising me on my trouble with time machine and my LaCie 1 TB FWD. I had sent her much of the same verbiage as I posted here. As some of you have probably figured out, the verdict is that the drive is probably failing. She says this because I have had to do two erase and reformats. She thought that the intermitant problem that I have had with the drive unmounting when my iMac wakes from sleep could be related to the drive failing.
In the meantime I have a secondary back-up (not using time machine) and the LaCie  1 TB FWD is working for the moment.
Thanks to all who read all my verbiage.
And in the meantime, I've learned something. I marked this question as solved. But I'm open to other things to try.

Celentano I am sorry but what is the exact error you are receiving when trying to install Photoshop Elements 8?  Also which operating system are you installing it on?

  • Trouble with photoshop(cs4) manages colours

Hello there. I have callibrated my printer, and have callibrated my monitor monthly over the three months since I purchased my Color Munki. I have set up a printer profile that I want to use.  I have CS4 and using a "two up view" for soft- proofing, the copy to be printed (on screen) was at first rather  dull with a green cast and with blacks greyed off compared to the master copy and very difficult to match the master even closely. The prints were passable after a lot of fiddling but not as good as I had hoped even compared to prints I produced  before I used my own printer- paper profile .. However recently  the prints have got even worse. They are really, really dark when printed even though they dont look so on screen. They also still have the colour cast etc. I have been selecting "no color management' in the printer dialogue along with the printer- paper profile. I have had to resort to using "Printer manages colour" and a generic printer paper profile  again as I used to do.  I am  getting far better prints with  good colour matches this way so it would seem that there is nothing wrong with the printer.  I have concluded that it must be a problem with the colour management in my CS4 Photoshop. I have an Epson Stylus photo 1410 printer, a Dell flat screen U2410 monitor and a nikon D90 camera. I feel so disappointed after forking out for the Color Munki etc hoping to get really top class prints. .I would really appreciate some advice.

You have to make sure you have configured everything to work together - i.e., to make the printer driver expect that Photoshop is going to do the color transform.
However, there were some posts last year implying people with Epson printers were seeing "double profiling" - meaning somehow two color transforms were being invoked, and they couldn't turn the behavior off.  I think at least some people just broke down and bought new printers, as Epson apparently would not fix the drivers to work properly with Photoshop CS5.
I don't know whether yours might fall under the same issue, but you could double check with Epson.com and see if there have been any newer drivers released for your model.

  • Still having trouble with Photoshop CC

    Hi,
I've continuing to have problem painting in Photoshop, and was wondering if anyone else was encountering the same problem. The issue is not so much a brush lag
as it is a spilt second freeze/stall just before a brush stroke. It doesn't happen continuously, just every few minutes and primarily on thin lines (5-10 pixels) on higher Opacity.
It's very distracting. I'm tried all manner of different things after having gone through forum posts (Photoshop preferences, Wacom driver updates, raising and lowering performance).
Unfortunately nothing seems to remove this momentary freeze. At this stage I can't tell whether it's an issue with Photoshop, the Wacom (an Intros 4), or my iMac. Everything put the Wacom
was purchased within the last two years.
Any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
    thank you,
    Dave

My Intros 4 is close to five years old, and I'm wondering if it's age is the problem. Overall, Photoshop/Wacom work but it just seems to freeze/delay when I either use a fine pixel size, or go to another section of the screen to paint. I've had an issue like this in any Photoshop version I've run. It began with Photoshop CC and I've not found a solution yet. I feel like i've tried everything but purchase a new Wacom.

  • Installation Problems With Photoshop CS3

I had to reinstall Photoshop CS3 on my current MacBook Pro running OS X 10.5.6.
When trying to re-install using the original full version disk I received the following error:
JavaScript Alert Critical errors were found in setup -The installer database is invalid: please re-install the product from the original media. Please see the Setup log file for details.
I even even tried to down load and install the Trail Version of CS4 to see if that could be done. Same error happens.
    Any idea what has happened?
    Would appreciate any suggestions.
    Thanks

    Ramon,
Thanks for the input. However I tried that already with the same results.
Have no problem with Lightroom 2.2 just Photoshop CS3.
Sent Adobe a message with this problem via their support section, however they just closed the case and more or less stated my time has expired. So now I am at a stand still with CS3.
My next option is just do a complete re-install of Leopard as I do have everything backed up via Time Machine.
In the mean time I found a program called Pixelmator that works just fine until I am able find a solution for this problem.

  • Trouble with Photoshop Updates.

For about 3 weeks Photoshop will not update when message comes that new updates are available.  I have the Creative Cloud subscription.  All the other applications update with no problem.  Any thoughts?  A solution?

Finally -  got the Administrator enabled successfully.  Thanks for the
additional instructions.  Restarted the computer after trying to update
Photoshop and getting another failed update message thinking it needed that
to make the Administrator enabling effective.  After the restart, attempted
to update again and the got the same error I've been getting all along
that there was an problem updating Photoshop CS6 and to see the box below
for specifics.  The box info stated "errors occurred during installation
(U44M1P7) and gave a link for more details.  When I opened the link, it's a
listing of all the applications with various dates that something
occurred.  There is an entry for Photoshop with today's date.
What is the problem here?  I pay a monthly subscription for this service
that seems to work for every application other than the one where  I'm
currently taking a class.  This is crazy!  This application update has
failed since June.  I need a refund for not getting the services I've paid
    for under my contract.

Does anybody got same trouble? Is it problem with win7 or CS3? Any ideas how to fix this?

    Thanks. It works somehow... :))
First, i switch to "simple style" --  and OOPS -- full screen mode in photoshop works asshould
Second, i switch to "classic style" -- full screen still working...
...and Third --  i switch back to "Aero" -- full screen still working!
So, the only question remains - wtf it was?....

  • Installation problems with Photoshop CC

I have been having problems with applying text to photographs in photoshop CC.  I have updated the graphics card and tried all the advice given in troubleshooting packs to no avail.  I asked a question earlier about this and was told that I needed to provide more information for someone to help me.  I asked what information was required and nobody has replied.  In desperation I have tried uninstalling photshop CC and reinstalling it.  Now I am getting a message when I try to install photoshop that says "Installation succeeded but a patch failed. Unable to extgract downloaded files.  Press retry to download again (U44M11210).  I have tried the 'retry' button several times but just get the same message.

  • Anyone having trouble with Photoshop CS6 with Intuos3?

I've been using CS6 since just after the Beta was released and I like many of the new features. I would probably love the software if not for one huge problem I'm having... no pressure sensitivity with my Intuos3.
My Intuos3 works fine with CS2 and CS3 but not with CS6. I even unistalled all versions of Photoshop except for CS6 in case there was some sort of conflict going on but still no pressure sensitivity. Reinstalled CS3 and it works fine in that application, and still not in CS6.
Does anyone else have this issue? I believe it must be a CS6 issue and not an Intuos3 issue for the fact that my tablet works just fine with previous versions of Photoshop.

No, Wacom tablets are working fine for most people.
Those who've had trouble found that updating the driver or reinstalling the driver solved the problem.
If you continue to have trouble, you probably want to contact Wacom and have them help you troubleshoot the driver.

  • Need Installation Assistance with Photoshop CS6

    Hi there,
I am trying to install Photoshop CS6 on my Mac Pro running OS X 6.8 using the same installation CD I just used to successfully load it on my new MacBook Pro. The installation quits - tried it three times after restarting twice - and I get the below error message. I would appreciate your assistance with how to address this error and then get the software installed. Thanks! Bruce

Thanks for pointing me in that direction. I actually spent over two hours on the phone with tech support this morning and finally got the installation to work. I had to ultimately delete everything Adobe related from my Mac before the install worked.
    Much appreciated!

  • Trouble with recovery disks

As I was using my Toshiba L305 Laptop, It suddenly started to reboot. As it turned back on the Toshiba screen came up then a screen that said Missing Operating System. I tried to use the Recovery disks that came with the computer. I inserted the first disk and waited till it told me to insert the second disk. It stared running and stopped with a black screen that says windows failed to start. it said to insert my windows installation disk and restart my computer. It also says
    File;\Windows\system32\winload.exe
    Status: 0xc000000f
info: the selected entry could not be loaded bacause the application is missing or corupt
My question is if I order the recovery disks on this website will that restore my computer or do I need to have the actual Windows Vista program disks ( which I do not have). I wondered if Windows Vista is on the recovery disks. what is my best option. Thank you

Toshiba's recovery disks restore the hard disk to its original out-of-the-box contents. That includes Windows, drivers, utilities, and assorted junk.
Always tell us which Satellite L305 you have when you post here. There is a label on the bottom.

  • Installation problem with Photoshop Elements 10 and Premiere Elements 10

I purchased in a package Photoshop Elements 10 as well as Premiere Elements 10.  It comes with 5 disc....When I install the first disc it does not ask for the 2nd disc once the first disc is done.  When the first one was done the option was hit finish and I did and that was it.  It did not request the next disc.  What do I do?
    Thanks
    Jim

I have to say that for a reputable company such as Adobe, the instructions for download are totally non existent. The download for purchases on line are controlled by Digital River. I had problems with downloading as the link on the email confirming my purchase didn't work finally found the url link by pasting the email in Front Page and reading the source.
When I finally got through I was advised by the Digital River customer service that I had had too many attempts at downloading the software. When I sent a mail to CS at Digital I received this reply:
"Unfortunately, we do not handle the customer service for Adobe Systems,
Inc. Home. Please contact them directly with your request through one of
    the following methods:
    Customer Service URL: http://www.adobe.com/ap/support
Customer Service Phone: If available, the regional numbers will be
    listed at the URL above.
    We apologize for the inconvenience."
I have now run around the adobe site trying to find a way to download the products, but no joy so far.
I tried to get customer serice to call me back , but this service is not available for my country, Thailand.
The final way I am told is to make a call to the customer service at the number listed on my confirmation email.
I already called this number (which I believe I have to pay for) and spent some 10 minutes on the line to what I believe was someone located in India who said he would send me a link for downloading the software.
As they say in the song .... I'm still waiting!!!!!
Adobe, shame on you. Please get your act together. Why can't you handle your own customer service rather than sub contract it out. You charge enough for the product which more than covers the cost
