Installation using Oracle

We just use Adobe LiveCycle recently using Oracle DB.  But our current Oracle DB character set is 'WE8MSWIN1252' while Adobe suggested 'AL32UTF8'.  Is it really needed to use 'AL32UTF8'?

I have this doubt of how can we do the Installation
of oracle using OLTP option of Database Template. Is
there, anthing like that? As, I know of only
installation of oracle using normal CD's. Please,
help in explaining with complete understanding.
I hope, my question is clear.
Please, help in solving the doubt.
regardsAre you talking about installing the software or creating a database? Installing the software (from the CD or an image) has little or nothing to do with whether your eventual database(s) will be OLTP, DW, or something else. After you have installed the software, you can use dbca to create or assist in creation of a database, and that will present you with a choice of templates. The differences implemented by these templates will be in initialization parameters and perhaps default storage layout, all of which could be tuned after the database is created.
It's been a while since I have run a software installation, but it seems that at the end it my automatically kick of dbca, so a newbie might be lead to believe it's all one and the same.

  • Amazon EC2 Installation using Oracle AMI - Installation Hangs

    Hello,
I've been trying to install an Oracle AMI on EC2 (using the Oracle provided AMIs). However, every time I go through and use the defaults and the installation gets stuck at 87%. It does not finish. This has happened with AMIs for multiple releases of Enterprise Linux and Oracle Database.
I was able to install and access the latest Oracle BPM AMI (http://aws.amazon.com/amis/Oracle/4052) in order to test it, but no such luck with a DB AMI (such as http://aws.amazon.com/amis/Oracle/3647).
Does anyone know what could be happening?
    Thanks for any pointers!

Oracle 10gXE is free, Oracle does not charge you any fees.
To start with Amazon, you can have a free EC2 Micro instance which is suitable for Oracle 10gXE. Amazon offers this instance for new customer as free and i think it's for one year.
You safe if you use 10gXE and AWS Micro instance.

  • How to uninstall oracle components silents using oracle universal installer in oracle client 11.2.0.3.0?

    Hi,
I have installed oracle client 11.2.0.3.0 silently using the response file with INSTALL type as runtime. I want to remove  'Oracle sql developer' from the installed products. Using Oracle Universal Installer I am able to remove this component in GUI. Please provide me the silent switch to remove this component. I have tried with DEINSTALL_LIST property , but I am getting an error that 'no products selected for deinstall'. Please suggest on this.

    Pl post your OS details
AFAIK, SQL Developer is not included in the Oracle Client install - it is a separate install. You will have to follow the instructions for uninstalling SQL Developer - check the docs for your specific version of SQLD - Oracle SQL Developer
e.g. for 3.1, see Installing Oracle SQL Developer

  • Automating Oracle Server Installation using response file

I am automating Oracle Server Installation using response file. No Installer page should be displayed, except 'Optional Config Tools' page at the end of the installation showing the list of optional configuration tools e.g Net Configuration Assistant, Database Configuration Assistant, and Intelligent Agent Configuration Assistant. All other pages would not be displayed.
My response file doesn't seem to work this way. During installation, it displays the 'Create Database' page asking whether you want Database Configuration Assistant to be automatically launched at the end of the installation for database creation. How do I prevent this page from displaying, while selecting default option (Yes) using response file?

Provide info about the OS you are using and Oracle version.

    1. Do we need to install Grid infrastructure software for standalone server as well ?
    2. Does Grid Infrastructure software comes separately or alongwith DB software ?
3.Is Grid software same for RAC and standalone server setup ?
4.Do we need to create user Grid for installation of Grid for standalone server as well ?
can anyone give me full steps from scratch ?

  • Compiling Apache 1.3.9 & PHP 3.0.12 to use Oracle 8.1.5 on SuSe 6.2

    Hi!
I am trying to compile the above packets but am running into massive problems.
PHP3 compiles well, if i try to use the "normal" static module for Apache, but the Apache configure script says that it needs an ANSI C compiler and stops.
I am using GCC 2.7.2.3 with the bugfixes from SuSe.
Since that did not work I tried the configuration as a Dynamic Module. The Apache "Readme.config" explains two ways to do so, but the first has the same problem with GCC and the second (via APXS) compiles Apache without problems, but PHP3 wont compile since it does not find a library. The exact error is: "/usr/i486-linux/bin/ld: cannot open -lclntsh: No such file or directory"
I found a libclntsh.so.8.0 in the oracle/lib directory, but since i fumbled around with this library (i tried ln -s libclntsh.so.8.0 libclntsh.so) sqlplus says libclntsh.so.8.0: cannot find file data: no such file or directory (even now that the link is deleted again).
And PHP still wont compile. Any ideas would be welcome.
P.S.: Is it normal that Oracle has to be told NOT to create a database during install, TO create a database???
We worked for 3 days on the Oracle installation and that was the only way to install Oracle without errors.
    thx

  • Custom Workflow using Oracle Workflow in ContentDB

    Hi,
Could we use custom workflow which is made using Oracle Workflow instead of BPEL.
    Regards,
    Yulisar

Having registered custom workflows for Content DB via Enterprise Manager, potentially you can use any tool capable of dequeuing/enqueing messages from the IFS_BPEL_OUT/IFS_BPEL_IN advanced queues as part of a custom workflow process.
By default, we assume you are using Oracle BPEL PM with its Advanced Queue adapater to process the queue messages. However, there is nothing stopping using Oracle Workflow or any tool for that matter.
HOWEVER!!! Warning!!! There is a high probability that Content DB will drop the bundled Oracle Worflow installation in the near future. What this means, is that you should consider installing/configure/patching your own separate Oracle Workflow installation and not rely on the bundled Content DB solution which is used internally for Serial and Parallel Approval workflows.
    thanks,
    Matt.

1- Here is what I mean, the oracle website is showing Web Logic in the download page of oracle application server:
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/products/ias/index.html
Is there a separate download link for Oracle Application Server, if it's different from the web logic server?
2- I Installed HTML_DB which is found in the Oracle 10g companion CD, I think I installed the HTTP Server with it, but now I want to install APEX 3.1.2 which I downloaded separately, if I uninstalled the HTML_DB using Oracle Universal Installer, will it remove the HTTP Server as well? since it lists the HTML_DB only as being installed without listing the HTTP Server separetly.
    Thanks.

  • Installation of Oracle 10g on Fedora 9

    OK,
I need to install Oracle 10g R2 on fedora 9 OS.
I have already tried 10201_database_linux32.zip, but it seems its not compatible with Fedora 9 as it says

Can anyone guide me with the proper installable of Oracle compatible with Fedora 9 and install instructions?
    Thanks in Advance

Try using the doris script available here: http://dizwell.com/2008/05/01/doris-redux/
Does the job in one command, and hides your operating system specifics from the Oracle installer while it does it.
There's even a video of it being used here: http://dizwell.com/2008/09/29/proving-a-point/ Even though that's of 11g on Fedora 9, the script says it works for 10g on Fedora 9 in the same way. I haven't done that myself, but the site owner says he has, so you should be OK.
