Installation won't open

I have installed your trial of Elements onto my Macbook - OSX.  I have removed popups etc and checked Automatic Graphics Switching.  I still does not open.  What do I need to do?

Elements 10 - not premiere.  Mac OS X. No error message.  Installation seems to be successful.  It just won't open.

  • Safari, ichat or installer won't open

i recently upgraded to the mac os x 10.4.3 and been having hosts of problems. Upon clicking on safari, it jumps once or twice and then quits. Same thing happens for ichat and installer. The fact that my installer won't open prevents me from re upgrading. Any help or ideas would be much appreciated

    fred ziffle,
You may want to have a read of Dr. Smokes excellent FAQ: "Multiple applications quit unexpectedly or fail to launch".
Follow the advice in the order in which it is given and I'm sure it should help with your situation!

  • Application and Installer won't open/launch on iMac (Maxon Cinema 4D) help!

This is a strange one. I have an application that refuses to open.
I've bought an iMac 24" Intel 3.06Ghz (not the brand new one, but a 2008 model). Everything works fantastically, but I'm having a problem with one particular application - Maxon Cinema 4D (R9.012). I realise this is an older version of Cinema 4D (they are now up to R11), but I have some 3D projects built in the older version that do not convert nicely when opened in the more recent versions. So, on some rare occasions, I need to open the older version to render a particular image successfully, etc.
But, I am finding that it won't open, and neither will the original VISE installer for the application. I don't believe this is an Intel compatibility problem, as I also have the use of an almost identical iMac 24" Intel 2.4Ghz (identical, obviously apart from the screen size and processor/graphics card) and the version of Cinema 4D R9.012 that won't open on my home computer DOES open fine on this computer. So, I am left bemused.
When I say that the application won't load, what happens when I double-click is that the dock momentarily expands, as if the app icon is about to appear, but nothing surfaces and the dock immediately goes back to it's normal self.
I've tried the instructions on this page, to no avail: http://www.macfixit.com/article.php?story=20060314080135452
I've tried resetting the PRAM, to no avail.
I'm now lost as to what to try next. I've never encountered an app/installer refusing to open, without seeing some kind of warning or dialogue box.
Can anyone advise me what this could be caused by, and how to overcome it?
    Thanks for reading!
    Jme

In case anybody comes across this same problem, a fresh Leopard installatino solved the problem.
I migrated my iMac to another iMac, installed Leopard afresh, and voila, I was able to install Cinema 4D now! I then migrated my iMac back again, and everything seems to be fine now.
    Very odd.

  • Itunes installer won't open

After downloading itunes 7.7, then try to open the file for installation, I get an
hour glass for a second or two and then nothing. No other error code returned. Like the installer was bad. I've downloaded several times. The results are the same. I downloaded an earlier version of 7.69 and installed fine. I then tried to "update" the software using the the "check for updates" in the itunes application but I receive the error..."Apple software update server is down". Unfortunately, I have to have the latest version of itunes to work with my iphone 3g. I am running Windows XP Pro and are new to ipod, iphone itune phenomenon. Any suggestion appreciated.

If it does open, I get an error that the publisher can't verify the signature
That usually indicates that the installer got damaged during the download to the PC.
Have you been downloading using a web browser from the Apple website?
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
If so, do you have any better success if you use Firefox rather than IE for the download (or vice versa)?

Double click the set up file to start installation.

  • Installer won't open a pkg file

I have just purchased wirless USB kit for an old iMac G3 and am having difficulty installing the software. When I double click on the pkg file, Installer launches but no screen appears. I verified with the Information command that the file expects to be opened by Installer 1.2. What should I try? Could it be that the pkg file is damaged or are there some obscure options I need to configure for Installer?

    Hi Richard,
When this failure to open a package has happened to me, it has usually been because the package contents wee not compatible with the version of OSX I was running.
Check the system requirements for this package. You may have to upgrade from 10.1 to install this.
    Hope this helps.

  • Flash Installer Won't Open

I'm on a Mac running OSX 10.5.8 with Firefox 16.0.2 and it told me I need to update Flash. I was running  Flash 10.3.183.90 and uninstalled it. I've now downloaded the installer but it quits before running. Any thoughts?

    Try this:
Mount the DMG, and open the folders to the 10_3_r183_90 folder.
    Mount the flashplayer_10_3r183_90_mac_intel.dmg.
Right click the Flash Player installer (or Ctrl+click)
    Choose Show Package Contents.
    go to: Contents/Resources.
Double click the Adobe Flash Player package.
    It should install from there.
A side note:  Being as your Mac is Intel, you really should consider upgrading to OS 10.6 (Snow Leopard). It will enable you to run a whole lot of software that 10.5 can't, including the latest Flash Player and Safari 5, which is a better browser than Safari 4.  It's only $19.99 through Apple and they ship free. By doing an upgrade with the migration assistant, you keep all your files, and only the OS upgrades. All passwords and logins stay the same.

  • OS 9 installer won't open

I'm trying to install OS 9 so I can run an old program in the Classic environment.
When I try to open the "Install Mac OS 9 System Support" icon, I get the following message:
    Open Failed
Can't open "Mac OS 9 System Support Installer.mpkg".
I am using the original installation disc that shipped with my iBook G4; it's grey and labeled "Mac OS X Install Disc 2".
    What's going on?
P.S. I do have an old OS 9 installation disc (white with a big gold 9), so I tried using that. However, it looks like that will install a full version of OS 9 and lead to complications that I would rather avoid, e.g. different versions of QuickTime, etc.
    iBook G4   Mac OS X (10.4.9)   purchased spring 2006

    Thanks for the response, BabyBoomer!
I checked out the article you linked, and it provided an explanation for my problem: my installation disks are OS X version 10.2, but I have since upgraded (via Software Update downloads) to version 10.4.9.
Unfortunately, the resolution recommended by the article involves wiping out my hard drive, reinstalling version 10.2 including OS 9, and finally upgrading to version 10.4.9 ... yikes! I don't mind the reinstallation/upgrading part, since that's always been beautifully quick and painless. But I hate the idea of backing up and then erasing my hard drive, because (1) it's risky and (2) it's complicated. For instance: according to one of the 2 articles linked to the one you mentioned, I would have to save all of my Safari bookmarks by going into the program, holding down the option key, and copying the list to another location. That's just one of many issues I wouldn't think of on my own.
The article does have a further link, which offers a downloadable 'restore' package. I tried it, but was prompted to insert installation disks which were different than those that shipped with my computer.
I chose a Mac over a Windows system so I could avoid hassles like this. Once in a while is OK but the idea of wiping out my hard drive scares me.

It very much tells you what it means - you do not have enough space left on your harddrive. This mustn't be the install location, but could also be your temporary directories. Do a little housekeeping like cleaniung out temp files and defragmenting the drive....

  • Installer won't open

I just picked up Leopard. I put in the CD, double-click "install", then Restart. While my Mac is restarting, the CD ejects itself, and my computer screen goes grey for about 10 seconds. Following that, I'm returned to my desktop the way it was.
    Thoughts?

Does your iMac meet the system requirements?
    System requirements
You must have a Macintosh computer with:
    • an Intel processor or a PowerPC G4 (867 MHz or faster) or G5 processor
    • a DVD drive
    • built-in FireWire
    • at least 512 MB of RAM (additional RAM is recommended for development purposes)
    • a built-in display or a display connected to an Apple-supplied video card supported by your computer
    • at least 9 GB of disk space available, or 12 GB of disk space if you install the developer tools
    Try starting up this way:
Booting From An OS X Installer Disc
    1. Insert OS X Installer Disc into the optical drive.
    2. Restart the computer.
    3. Immediately after the chime press and hold down the "C" key.
    4. Release the key when the spinning gear below the dark gray Apple logo appears.
    5. Wait for installer to finish loading.
