Installed 10.5.4 and can't launch iSync

Following installation I've just launched iSync and get a dialogue box with the message: "*iSync can't be launched* SyncServices: Can't connect to the sync server: NSInvalidReceivePortException: connection went invalid while waiting for a reply ((null))"
I can't find any assistance for the problem, can anyone help me please

I have tried everything suggested here and my problem remained. I also tried the advice documented here: [http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1627?viewlocale=enUS&locale=enUS] to reset Sync Services.
I finally talked to a very helpful young man at Apple Support, who listened to my story and directed me to take the following action:
Move the SyncServices folder located at ~/Library/Application Support/SyncServices to the desktop
Trash all the caches in ~/Library/Caches
Restart machine (with fingers crossed)
All now seems well and after I'll shortly trash the SyncServices folder sat on the desktop.
I didn't have your issues with lost calendars or scrambled address book contacts but assuming that you're using .Mac you can put this right once you get syncing up and running assuming that you've got clean data (calendars and contacts) on the .Mac server

If you have to reinstall, you'll need to get a new copy of the installation DVD. If this is the disk that came with your Mac, call Apple tech support and they should be able to sell you a replacement disk set for a reasonable charge.

iTunes is not installing because its incompatible with your OS. When installing the correct version the new version will update the older version, there is no need to uninstall first.
The last version of iTunes compatible with OSX 10.4 is iTunes 9.2.1

Canon MX870 will print wirelessly but will not scan and can't launch EX navigator

My laptop recently crapped out on me the hard drive failed. It's an old Macbook pro vintage with 4gig memory and running OS X maverics. After I got a new hard drive put in and restored my computer using a time machine backup I noticed the Tech had gone ahead and installed a newer operating system 10.9.2 and now I cannot get my Canon pixma MX870's software to work. After going to the Canon site and downloading newer drivers and wrangling with it for three hours I finally was able to get it to print wirelessly somehow, don't ask me how. But it will print wireless however it still will not scan even if I use image capture it sees no printer available and the ex navigator software keeps showing an error message it cannot launch! How bogus! Macs have always just worked period. No problem but now even when I go back to my old install disc for the Canon pixma MX870 it says that the software is not supported by this operating system .....REALLY... this printer is only about three years old! I'm shocked that apple could actually go ahead and make new versions of maverics that don't support printer software from two years ago..... REALLY you're kidding right! Whats next you won't support software from two months ago! I guess we have to just buy a new printer every month.
This machine is starting to remind me of a Windows laptop what a nightmare. Jobs must be rolling in his grave. This is just utterly pathetic. This is the beginning of the end for Apple. I've always been impressed with how easy it is to use apple stuff but this is the second time I've updated my operating system only to find I have to go through **** just to get the freakin' printer to work. Come on guys somebody show me an easy fix here and if any body says it's the printer companies responsibility to update their drivers and software I think I'm going to puke. I have already downloaded the newest Canon software for the MX870 and it can't launch I was able to get the printer to print but can't get the scanner to work and the solutions menu is now useless.

Well you are right Steve my complaint is with Canon for not making it easier to install their necessary updates if you upgrade your OS system but it seems that when Apple is constantly making new upgrades available they might want to add in the heads up "OH by the way, if you install this new OS it's likely your printer won't work any more if it's more than three years old." along side the constant "Updates are available for your computer" they should really have it read "Updates are available for your computer, proceed at your own risk" No I'm sorry the whole system is geared towards making people get so frustrated that they eventually give up and buy a new printer. I'm not sure what 5 hours of my time is worth but I am sure that if were getting paid by the hour it would be enough to buy a new Canon comparable to the MX870. So by the way if other people are having this same problem, which of course thousands of them are, the solution is first download the newer driver, then download the new wireless setup assistant and then figure out how to use it (good luck with that), it took me about two hours just to find the access points on the printer and to be honest I just got lucky eventually. Then you must download the newer "Scan Gear" software if you want to scan. But it seems that the new "Scan Gear" software got my whole solutions menu to start working again so there you go, you can be a white night for somebody else who is having this same problem. I must admit that after wrangling for hours I continued to go back to the forums and eventually found a link to the canon software update page provide by some very nice girl who was very helpful for some other guy and the link took me to the same page I had been to several times already but I then downloaded the "Scan Gear" software and was up and running again. So thank you to that nice girl and in the spirit of her helpfulness I offer this to the thousands of other poor bastards that cannot get their MX870 to scan

Installed/Updates completed...can't launch!!

I have paid. I have downloaded Adobe CC. I have installed/updated Photoshop/Lightroom...and I can't launch them! It continually takes me to the "download" screen over and over again. Why can't I launch these apps and get started?
System information: Windows OS (with stupid app screen at Start). I can send screenshots if need be. Photoshop and Lightroom appear to be Installed/Updated (green checks appear in the Adobe CC), but the only option I am given is "View Tutorial". Someone please help?

Firefox Crash Report LOOP - can't get out and can't launch Firefox

Hi. I'm new here. My general sysinfo is at the end of this email.
I have a Firefox problem. I've actually already read all the solutions I could find so far, on another tech site, that seem to be related to my particular problem and tried them all, but I'm still having a glitch of some kind. So, forgive me if I am a bit long-winded here, and I'll try to "nutshell" down what I've done, but would like all I've experienced and tried to at least be in one starting place. Hope you will stick with me, as I've tried a lot of stuff.
I was in the middle of reading an email when Firefox just closed itself. I've never had that happen before, ever.I tried to reopen and got the Crash Report dialog.
I tried rebooting and relaunching FFox, but still got the Crash Report dialog, so I went onto the net via IE and looked it up. Bsed on what I found, I thought, okay, I'll try reinstalling -- I had previously tried the beta for FFox's newest version and didn't like it, and when I uninstalled it, had lost my install files for 3.6.16 as well, so downloaded that again and tried to reinstall over the old. No go.
Tried to uninstall, then, using the built-in FFox uninstaller, followed by Total Uninstall as a backup effort (Total Uninstall has always been a good program in past). Total Uninstall froze in the middle of its progress bar, no matter how many times I tried it.
I decided to try a System Restore. That did not change anything. Although I got no longer got a Crash Report dialogue, FFox still would not launch.
Since I'd done a Restore, I decided to try to install once more. The install wouldn't proceed, and I got a message that an Uninstall was still in progress and that I needed to reboot. So I did.
After the reboot, I tried the reinstall again -- and got the same message. Tried it twice more, but I was in a loop.
Went back to the tech site I'd found and read about how to "uninstall Firefox completely" and went through those steps, then rebooted once more.
Tried to reinstall again, and this time the reinstall performed all the way through -- but when I tried to launch FFox, I got the crash report again -- so was back to Square One with no clue what to do.
I posted a question re this (basically the same thing I'm writing here, without this latest bit) on the tech site, and received some advice. First part of the advice was to do what I'd already done. Second part mentioned a couple more files to remove so as to completely uninstall FFox (including PreFetch, which I'd never heard of) and suggested I download 3.6.9 (I'd last tried 3.6.16) as it was known to be stable.
I did all these things, rebooted and installed --as far as I could tell -- 3.6.9. But at launch, I still get a Crash Report.
I even thought perhaps the problem involved profiles, although I have moved mine out of the line of fire and am saving it for when I get FFox running again -- please, soon! -- but anyway, I did try to run Profile Manager, and it won't run either.
Again, am back at square one without a clue of any kind how to proceed. I have no idea why FFox closed, either, as I haven't done anything unusual, and even confirmed that when I tried to do a Restore. Almost nothing was going to be affected. (But it didn't help anyway.)

Google ATI Firefox crash. You'll see ATI video cards have multiple problems with Firefox and also internet videos. Also, note the dates these problems occurred - many are 2011...

I recently installed iTunes 4.3.5 and can't drag and drop music into my 'music library' anymore. Every time I try to drag the music from a folder into the library, that little circle with the line thru it comes up (not allowed symbol). I've been using iTunes for years and am pretty computer savvy... I have no idea what the problem is. The only way I can add music right now is if I go to File>Add File to Library and that takes way too long, especially when adding 20-30 songs. I am using Windows 7 and I have an iPhone 4. Please help! This is extremely frustrating.

I installed 10.4.10 after waiting forever because update is such a pain and now I can't connect to the internet AT ALL. How can I uninstall this update?? I don't really want to back up all my files and reinstall my OS because I have like 29 gigs of music and a ton of video and I have no idea how to compress that stuff into a small enough format to burn in on a comprehensible amount of cds.
Please, someone, help me. I am so screwed right now.
Oh and PS I am writing this message on my old Thinkpad. At least my trusty old XP still works and WINDOWS THOUGHT OF SYSTEM RESTORE!!! AUGH!

If your computer is working well, I suggest you go with the flow for now. Get the external firewire HDD and clone your entire HDD so you have a backup and an emergency boot drive, and keep your backup up to date.
Then should the present installation begin to act up you might want to consider a new installation, although not necessarily. I favor dealing with issues and leaving re-installation as an avenue of last resort. If your current installation is not plagued with directory issues, there is no need to do a re-install.
So go and have fun, and get that firewire external HDD as soon as you can afford it.

When I tried to install iOS 5.1.1, my iPhone crushed. Now I can't install last version iOS and I can't restore, because iTunes asks the last version iOS in order to restore .. Does anyone know how I can restore ?

Did you buy this phone new from an authorized Apple dealer? The only reference I can find for that error message is for a previously jailbroken iPhone.

Installed iTunes 7.6 and can't open iTunes

Hi,
I recently installed iTunes 7.6 and at first it gave me the error message -2096. I restored my computer and tried to open iTunes and got the message saying "QuickTime unavailable. QuickTime was not found. QuickTime is require to run iTunes. Please reinstall iTunes." This happened to me when I downloaded iTunes 7.5 as well and it deleted all the songs off of my iPod for nearly a week. I'm getting very fed up with this and I was wondering if anyone else had had the same problem and could help to resolve this?

OK, I fixed it:
Find iTunes on My Computer (i think it's the C Drive but mine is on an external hard drive so I'm really not sure)
Right click on the actual file of iTunes.exe and find the compatability tab (not QuickTime, iTunes, because i know i did QuickTime before)
Unclick the box that says that you want it to run in Compatability mode.
It should work after that.

CAN'T LAUNCH ISYNC

I hope that anybody can help me solve this issue.
I cant launch iSYNC, it bounces a few time and then nothing.
I have followed the advice to delete iSYNC and then reinstalling it following the below:
"Launch Pacifist. Insert your Mac OS X 10.4 Install or Upgrade DVD in your optical drive and wait for it to mount. Press the now-activated Open Mac OS X Install Packages button in Pacifist. Wait for the window to appear - it will take some time to load all of the resources - then double click on the Contents of Essentials.pkg file to open it, double-click on the Applications folder, select iSync.app then press the Install button.
That will install a copy of iSync 2 into your Applications folder. Then run the Mac OS X 10.4.9 Combo update for PowerPC or intel processor based machines—whichever is appropriate for your platform—to update it to release 2.4."
But infortunately this hasnt worked for me.
Has anyone an idea on how to get this working, I know from the forum that loads of people are facing the same issue so maybe apple could as well look into this???

After Installing Leopard, missing emails and can not receive or send Emails

Hello All: Installed Leopard yesterday. Everything seemed fine except that I noticed that my mail program had lost all the emails within the box. I do know that I did not back up my email prior to installing Leopard, however, I have tons of email on the Web server but none are coming through on the Mail Program.
I've sent 3 emails out on the new program and no one has received them and they do not show up on the SENT folder, or OUTBOX or DELETED items. Anyone has any idea how to fix this issue?

I found the solution for our problem. Through out the preference file for mail and relaunch mail. The pref file is named "com.apple.mail.plist" and it is located under Users>your login>Library>Preferences>com.apple.mail.plist. When you take this file out of the folder leave it on your desk top or an external drive. When you restart mail, mail will create a fresh copy of the file. BE ADVISED YOU WILL LOSE ALL OF YOUR EMAIL ACCOUNT INFO LIKE SERVER NAMES, USER NAMES AND PASSWORDS! You can collect all this information BEFORE you remove the plist file and quit mail. Its all listed under Mail>Preferences>Accounts. Take screen captures of all of this information, you will need to re-enter it when you launch email for the first time after deleting the plist file.
In particular you will need to know your incoming mail server and password and outgoing mail server and password!
Good luck. The important thing is to collect as much account info as possible BEFORE you remove the file and relaunch mail. FYI if you forget to record all this information first (which I did) you can put the original plist file back in its original location and relaunch mail and collect the information.
As long as you don't through out the original plist file you can always go back to what you had.
