Installed 10.5 and lost iLife

I had to erase and install to upgrade from 10.4 to 10.5. I got it to work, but now I lost iLife. How can I get it back? iLife was already installed when I got my iMac, so I don't have the disk.

Use the instructions in this article to restore iLife from the computer's original disks, and then download and install all iLife updates that appear in the Software Update pane of System Preferences.

I upgraded my operating system and lost iLife. Is that normal/fair? I used to have iPhoto, GarageBand, etc...

Did you erase your hard drive before upgrading? If you have the install disks, you can just reinstall. Unless you have recently purchased your Mac and do not have the older versions installed, the new versions at the app store have to be purchased.

  • Installed Mountain Lion and lost audio

    2.26 core 2 duo
    13" mid 2009
    Pro

Installed Mountain Lion and lost audio.
How do I get it back?!

    1. Open Activity Monitor.app (Applications > Utilities > Activity Monitor.app)
    2. Select ‘All Processes’ from the drop down menu next to the search bar (called ‘Filter:’) and type in ‘coreaudio’.
    3. Select the process name and click the ‘Quit Process’ button at the top. Chose ‘Quit’ or ‘Force Quit’ from the resulting dialogue box.
The coreaudio process will automatically restart itself (if you look closely at the PID number in Activity Monitor you’ll notice it changes after you hit ‘Quit’) and your sound problems should be solved.

  • Installed snow leopard and lost 90 percent of Address Book entries

I just installed Snow Leopard and my Address Book now has only a very small percentage of the contacts I had. Is there any way to recover them? I'm ashamed to say I had not backed up this info. Thanks for any help!

The metadata folder has the same number of items as the current address book (68). The other contents of the .../application support/address book file are:
    ABPerson.skIndexInverted
    ABSubscribedPerson.skIndexInverted
    AddressBook-v22.abcddb
    AddressBook.data
    AddressBook.data.previous
    Configuration.plist
    Images folder
    lastImport.plist
    MailRecents-v4.abcdmr
    Metadata folder
Hmmm... Is the "AddressBook.data.previous" relevant here?
    Thanks for your help.

  • I had to re-install firefox recently and lost all my bookmarks and passwords, how do I retrieve them? I have already saved them as an html file on my desktop.

I've been having problems with my computer, and had to delete Firefox entirely several times. I don't believe it was your browser that was the problem, though now I have lost all my saved bookmarks. I did export them to IE as an HTML file, which I still have on my desktop. I am now in the painful process of remembering and resetting passwords that Firefox remembered when I had it originally installed (I am back at ground zero with the browser now).

Please read this article about restoring bookmarks:
    http://kb.mozillazine.org/Lost_bookmarks
As far as your passwords are concerned, I don't think there's anything you can do. But for the future, you can use the following add-ons to avoid any future loss:
    https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/2848/
    or
    http://www.xmarks.com/
    Both are good.
And a simple way to import your bookmarks (since you already saved it on your desktop as html) is:
Bookmarks / Organized Bookmarks / Import and Export
    Good luck.

  • Can one get back msoffice2010professionalplus(free)installed last year and lost it as it was taken out for installaion in another laptop

My granddaughter felt we both could use msoffice2010 professional plus offered free by Microsoft last year.It was for slow connection.I got it installed with key provided and was fully functional.
Unfortunately she got it installed in her laptop with the help of a pen drive. And after a few days I lost the much valued(both in software and price wise ).

Sorry, that isn't a Firefox support issue. You need to get help from Microsoft or a support forum for Microsoft products.

  • Repair shop installed wrong OS and lost my disc!

Just got my (early 2011) MBP back from repairer (£180 logic board fix and £55 for new HD).  Seems he's "lost" my Snow Leapord (10.6) disc and installed Lion instead.  Never mind, I'm holding him accountable BUT meanwhile I really want to get on with setting up today and reinstalling from the time machine on my external hd.
What's the best way round this?  Maybe a dumb question but does the time machine back up actually contain the old OS as well??  If so then should I reformat the new internal HD first - so nothing messy occurs with the Leapord and the Lion fighting over my machine?
If the TM back up does NOT contain the OS... can I just download the free one I saw on the net somewhere...? - while I wait for the local repair guy to find my disc or reimburse me?
Or do I have to use the lost disc?
Oh, the speakers and the keyboard light don't work since the "repair".  IS this something the correct OS will put right?  Or will I have to go back to the repair shop?
    Thanks already!

Thanks. I can't believe the company that come first on Google for Macbook repair Sheffield would do this, what with their plush town centre (hired) office with waiting room and 'appointment only' set up...
Also odd that on reflection I didn't get any sort of ticket to say they had my machine... and when I rang today, a new guy went to lengths to expain how good they are at keeping records of all accessories that come with the machine - eh??!

  • I had to re-install my OS and lost iWork. How can I re-install it? It's not showing up in iTunes.

I had to re-install my operating system and I lost iwork. How can I re-install it?
I've gone to itunes and it's not there.

If you got it from the Mac App Store, sign in to it with the Apple ID you used to buy it and click on the Purchases tab.
If you got it from an iWork DVD, reinstall it from that DVD.

  • I re-installed my MAC and lost IPhoto

I had some problems with my MAC so I was advised to re-install, once I did my problem was solved UNTIL I realized that I had lost applications which had come with it (IPhoto, IMovie, IDVD, GarageBand...)!! I still have my pictures, which I thought I was going to lose...can I do something to recuperate IPHOTO??
PS.I live in Bolivia and we don't have an Apple store.
    THANK YOU

If iPhoto came pre-installed your computer then you can reinstall the iApps from the system install disks that came with the computer. You need to look for the install package titled "Install Bundled Software Only" as seen in the screenshot below:
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 6 and 7 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. Just put the application in the Dock and click on it whenever you want to backup the dB file. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.
Note: There's now an Automator backup application for iPhoto 5 that will work with Tiger or Leopard.

  • I have a desktop Mac OS X Leopard. I want to upgrade to Quicken 2007, Install Snow Leopard and download iLife '11. I heard that Quicken and Snow Leopard can clash and have problems.  What would be the best order for installing these products. Thank You.

I have a desktop MAC OSX Leopard. I want to upgrade to Quicken 2007, install Snow Leopard, download iLife'11.  I heard that Quicken and Snow Leopard can clash..........that is why I am upgrading Quicken. What would be the best order of installing these products.  I have gotten defferent opinions and I want to be sure I install them correctly.
    Thank You.

First, install OS X, then install your third-party software.
How to Install OS X Updates Successfully
    A. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions:
Boot from your current OS X Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. Then select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the installer. Now restart normally.
If DU reports errors it cannot fix, then you will need Disk Warrior (4.0 for Tiger) and/or TechTool Pro (4.5.2 for Tiger) to repair the drive. If you don't have either of them or if neither of them can fix the drive, then you will need to reformat the drive and reinstall OS X.
    B. Make a Bootable Backup Using Restore Option of Disk Utility:
      1. Open Disk Utility from the Utilities folder.
      2. Select the destination volume from the left side list.
      3. Click on the Restore tab in the DU main window.
      4. Check the box labeled Erase destination.
      5. Select the destination volume from the left side list and drag it to the
          Destination entry field.
      6. Select the source volume from the left side list and drag it to the
          Source entry field.
      7. Double-check you got it right, then click on the Restore button.
Destination means the external backup drive. Source means the internal
    startup drive.
    C. Important: Please read before installing:
      1. If you have a FireWire hard drive connected, disconnect it before installing the
update unless you will boot from this drive and install the update on it.
Reconnect it and turn it back on after installation is complete and you've
          restarted.
      2. You may experience unexpected results if you have installed third-party system
software modifications, or if you have modified the operating system through
other means. (This does not apply to normal application software installation.)
      3. The installation process should not be interrupted. If a power outage or other
interruption occurs during  installation, use the standalone installer (see below)
from Apple Downloads to update.  While the installation  is in progress do not use
          the computer.
    D. To upgrade:
Purchase the Snow Leopard Retail DVD.
Boot From The OS X Installer Disc:
          1. Insert OS X Installer Disc into the optical drive.
          2. Restart the computer.
          3. Immediately after the chime press and hold down the "C" key.
          4. Release the key when the spinning gear below the dark gray Apple
              logo appears.
          5. Wait for installer to finish loading.
          6. Follow instructions.
After installing Snow Leopard you should update it by downloading and installing Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1.

  • I updated my iPad 2 to iOS 7.06 and iTunes couldn't connect. Had to revert to factory settings. Can't install many apps and lost data. What can I do?

When I selected to update the OS on my iPad 2, it wouldn't connect with iTunes, and I had no choice other than to revert to factory settings, losing all my data, apps etc. Everything. I knew that would happen, but also that everything was backed up on iCloud.
However, when I thought I had set up my ipad again, I found none of my documents, pdf files, songs, notes, some items on my calendar, and a bunch of other stuff had gone.
If it's on iCloud, why can't I get it back?
And has anyone got a brillaint solution?
I noticed a few others have had the same issue.
And I need the lost documents for  my work with clients. My next client starts on Monday and some of his material is now lost. I am unable to open it on my iMac, as I have a newer update of Pages on my ipad. So most of these missing documents, while on my imac via icloud, are inaccessible.
    HELP!!!!

Also my drop box is empty. A much bigger problem...

  • I installed 10.2 and lost everything

    Hi,
I had mac 9.0, and installed 10.2 but now I no longer have microsoft word etc. I can't open all my old documents either. What do i do?

Open the Startup Disk pane of System Preferences, select the Mac OS 9 system as your hard disk, and then restart the computer. Next, download and install the 9.1 updater followed by either the 9.21 updater or this control panel on your computer, and restart into Mac OS X.

  • Installed LR2.6 and lost Camera Calibrations and....

Installed LR2.6 a couple of days ago and now everytime I start it, it wants me to enter my seriel number, but also I do not have any of the Nikon Camera Calibrations availailable, Only the ACR 4.6 Calibration.  What gives?  Do I need to install ACR 5.6 also?  I do have PS CS4 so I guess I need to install it anyways. But what about having to re-enter my series.  Wouldn't be a problem except that I'm away from home for a few days and don't have access to the LR boxes.  This for Windows verson.
    Thanks
    Doug

That didn't work, but here's what was happening, I uninstalled LR2.6 to roll back to LR2.5.  But when I was installing 2.5 I was getting an error message that a Fold Called - "ProgramData/Adobe/CameraRaw" could not be created.  After doing so troubleshooting, I firgured that the folder was locked and LR did not have the right to modify the folder.  SO I went in and changed permissions and unlocked the folder.  Got LR 2.5 installed, but now each time I launch LR, it wants my serials.  I enter them and it doesn't take the number and have to re-enter each time I launch it.  Any suggestions?  Using Windows 7 Home Edition.
    Thanks
    Doug
