Installed an additional SSD, computer crashes constantly
As per lots of tutorials on the internet, I decided to replace my optical drive with my HDD, and add an SSD to my 2010 MacBook Pro.
I made the SSD my main boot, and loaded it with mostly applications. I left my HDD basically untouched. My SSD is running a newer version of OSX then my HDD.
When I'm running on the SSD, my computer just crashes pretty frequently (multiple times a day), doing literally anything. Opening up a new tab, scrolling in a PDF, etc. I seem to be able to reboot from my HDD however and use it without it crashing.
Any ideas of why this might be? I guess the only thing I could imagine is some discrepancy between the two versions of OSX, but that doesn't seem right.
What would be a good course of action? Back up the HDD and wipe the SSD?
Hi there,
have you tried any sort of software/hardware tests on the machine? As there are many things to do to diagnose such a fault. Have you tried booting in Safe Mode (Hold Shift key at startup)? Have you tried creating & using another user account to test if you have a conflict or corrupt file in your Home > Library?
You could try running Disk Utility's 1st Aid Repair Permission function on your HD to see if that helps. If not, boot from your Install CD (Hold C key at startup) then when the installer opens go the the menu bar & click Open Disk Utility & click the Repair Disk button in 1st Aid - this will repair your system & if it says repaired or modified run it again until clear. Then reboot.
If that doesn't work try reseating your RAM incase your recent move disturbed them. If that still doesn't help any, run your Apple Hardware test CD to eliminate any hardware errors. You could also download an app called Memtest (or equivalent) to thoroughly test your RAM - as bad RAM can be the commonest reason for crashes. Plus you could try iStat Nano Widget to monitor your CPU temps - another common reason for crashes.
You could always reset your PRAM, NVRAM & SMU if you wanted.
Oh... & make sure you have a good backup! Try Carbon Copy Cloner to clone your HD if you need to - or just copy important data off. Also try Onyx (make sure its the version for your OS) for system maintenance.
Hope you can sort it.

I have Adobe Photoshop Elements 8 for Windows 7. I need to re-install it because my computer crashed. I saved the outer box, but I do not see a serial number and it is asking for it when I am trying to install the CD software. I went online, but the only serial number I see is when I registered the Photoshop Elements 2.0.
The serial number will be on the disc case, not the outer box. Find your serial number quickly

I have Photoshop 12, installed online. My computer crashed and was repaired, but Photoshop was not restored. I see it in my products, along with the serial number/activation key, but no download is available. How do I re-download my product?

Just installed Mavericks and my computer crashes 4-5 times a day now.
Hi. Just a few days ago I finally gave in and upgraded to Mavericks (10.9.5) from 10.6.8 as there was some software that I needed to use that necessitated the upgrade. Since I've upgraded, my MacBook Pro crashes at least 4-5 times daily. I am not doing anything unusual when it occurs. Usually typing an email, or switching between tabs in Safari or clicking save on a word file. In another post I was introduced to an app called Etrecheck which seemed to me to be a fine way to show all the Mac geniuses on this forum whats going with my computer (unfortunately I am not savvy enough to look through it and understand what's going on). I've posted the report below. Maybe someone can help me figure out what's causing my computer to crash?
The next time it happens I can also copy the report that shows up after the crash and post it as well. Many thanks in advance.
Problem description:
Since I downloaded Mavericks (10.9.5) my computer crashes randomly 4-5 times per day.

Upgraded RAM and Changed HD to SSD: Computer Crashing
Hi guys, I have a 2013 MBP that I recently upgraded with 16 gigs of RAM and an SSD. Both pieces of hardware, I was careful to make sure were compatible with my computer. Ever since installing them, though, I have been experiencing consistent crashing that seems to happen most regularly when the computer awakes from sleep mode or when I unplug or plug in the charger. I ran a memtest, and it stated everything was fine. Debugged the hd.
This is the error report that I am receiving after recovering from a crash:
Any chance I could get some help with this issue? Thanks for reading guys!

If not, then the SSD should be substituted for the original HDD. Kernel panics are often attributable to hardware issues.
Also run an Apple hardware Test which may provide a clue.

Computer Crashes constantly!
My G5 (dual 2.5ghz, 8GB of RAM) has been working perfectly until recently. It now crashes whenever I do something memory intensive in photoshop CS2. (change a big file from LAB to RGB, moving things around, printing to my fire wire printer) I work on 2GB files, but even my G3 laptop can process these files without crashing, even if it takes an hour.
I recently moved, and it started crashing after that. But around the same time I also installed CS2. However, I now crash in Photoshop CS1 as well. Did installing CS2 corrupt something that would mess up CS1 as well? The problem has gotten worse and worse to the point where I crash every 10 minutes. When I crash, my dual monitors go black. Sometimes if I unplug the monitors and plug them in again, they turn on, only to display a frozen screen.
G5 dual 2.5ghz Mac OS X (10.3.9) dual displayHi there,
have you tried any sort of software/hardware tests on the machine?

Just installed FCP 7 and it crashes constantly. Why?
Hello everyone,
I just upgraded to FCP 7. I did the entire installation, and in the end it said that the installation was successful. So I go to launch it, get the Easy Setup pop-up, set my choices, then FCP starts loading again, but then crashes. This occurs EVERY time and I have no idea why. I have the crash report, so I can post any necessary info here that you'll need, just let me know what that is. Please help me, I would greatly appreciate it.Ok, so I downloaded Pro Maintenance, and ran the Crash Analyzer. It says my crashes were cause by "Corrupt Qmaster Configuration" and recommended I run Compressor Repair, which I did, and these were the results:

Latest version of Firefox crashes almost constantly, even when just showing yahoo.com. Often crashes just on opening another page, etc. No rhyme or reason to crashes.
Ready to bail out of this to opera/safari or, God help, IE as this is useless.Troubleshooting extensions and themes

Computer crashed whilst installing photoshop elements 11, now serial number invalid?
Recently purchased photoshop elements 11, when installing my computer crashed. When attempting to install for a second time it now displays a message saying my serial ref is invalid?
Do I need to get a new reference?
If so, how do I get a new reference?Dgjr7878 it is likely that the current installation of Photoshop Elements and it's licensing files got corrupted if your computer is crashing. Is this a common occurance? If so you may want to address the stability difficulties you are experiencing with your current computer prior to reinstalling.
There are additional steps you can try to recover from your computer's unexpected restart. Which operating system are you using exactly? -
Hey guys, so while my regular computer is being worked on, I'm using this old PowerMac G4 (400 Ghz, I know, it's old). I actually just had to Archive & (Re)install Panther--a friend from the Geek Squad had worked on/looked at it recently regarding removing an older drive that had failed, when I got it back for whatever reason it had reverted to OS9 so I had to upgrade, but THAT'S another story--and first tried using Safari, but it's been crashing constantly... like, 3 times within 10 minutes. I don't even have to be using it, and it'll just crash behind whatever program--Finder, etc.--I'm running; I'm currently using Firefox even to browse online and post this.
Any ideas?? Normally I NEVER have any problems with Safari crashing--in fact, I've had more trouble with Firefox doing so--so I don't know why this is. The ONLY thing I can think is that I wasn't able to fully install the 2nd disc of Panther--it said there were "errors" while I was doing so--so maybe I can/should try again. But for the time being, here's one of the crash logs I've been getting, in case it would help you guys to troubleshoot....

I put it in when it was asked for, it ran its course but it said "There Were Errors" afterwards... which is another thing I REALLY can't figure out, because I've used these discs to install Panther a few times without any problems or warnings (I had a boot drive crash about a year ago and had to use them to reinstall everything; this Archive & Install's like the 3rd time, though I STILL can't figure out why/what this Geek Squad guy must've done to cause my OS to downgrade like that...).
Firefox SEEMS to be working fine (knock wood), but I'd really like to figure this out, get Safari working too.
So what are you guessing? Anything I need to try changing in the settings?? Or adjusting with Flash?? I WOULD delete it and use Firefox to download it/try reinstalling it, but I'm really not sure if that's going to work... -
I installed a new SSD drive in my computer and now Adobe Creative Suite Web Premium says I don't have a license. I have license. It was very expensive. I am disabled now, and I need this software working. Adobe Acrobat has been a primary tool for accommodating memory problems after a brain injury. (A car ran me down while I was out getting exercise.) I installed the SSD because I needed my management of PDF files to run faster. I called tech support for help when the software first stopped working, but they needed me to give them a number from my original disks. Because of my disability, I've been having someone come in to clean, and the shelves where I kept my software packages were cleared. I've been hunting for them ever since, but I can't look for them myself for very long at a time. Today I finally found them, but now I can't seem to contact tech support. What happened? I don't want to delete my old files because I need the setup to remain unchanged, because I don't do well with changes. I think all I should need is to have someone located the license file on drive E: and move it to wherever it is needed on the SSD drive, but I don't know what to look for.
Tech support is not normally available on weekends. You should contact them as soon as the weekend passes and pick up where you left off with them.

My computer crashed necessitating re-install of operating sys and all programs including iTunes. When I click on a song in my library I get an error message "can't find this song, want to search?" What gives? How can I listen to songs in my library on this computer now?
It is working now. I no longer get the message about the item not being available in the US and I can access the store.

I wiped my ipod classic and then my computer crashed, so i no longer have the songs i purchsed from itunes on my ipod or computer! I have a new computer now with itunes installed, can I get the songs purchased previously from itunes somehow?
Yes, you can!(:
STEP 1: Open iTunes
STEP 2: Navigate to the "iTunes Store". It can be found under the "STORE" tab.
STEP 3: On the right side of the store there should be a "Quick Links" Section. Click on the "Purchased" link.
STEP 4: Navigate to the "Music" tab and click on "All Songs". Then at the bottom of the screen there will be a button that says "Download All". Click the button and your songs will be begin downloading!
NOTE: This will only work with songs that you bought from the iTunes store, if you imported them from a CD, you will have to do it again.
NOTE: You can also do this with Apps, Movies, TV Shows, and Books.
NOTE: You may have to sign in with your Apple ID to verify the download.
Hope this helped! Enjoy your music!(: -
I have been using a free trial of Photoshop cc and my computer crashed. Now it says up to date, but the program is not installed anymore. How can I re install it? I already uninstalled creative cloud and re installed it, but the same issue occurs.
Hi dmomoney24 ,
Kindly refer : CC desktop lists applications as "Up to Date" when not installed.
Please revert if the problem persists.
Thanks,
Atul Saini
