Installed as new iphone instead of back up

Hi, by mistake I set up my new Iphone 5s as new, instead of back up from cloud.
Is there a chance to change it again? Reset all setting did not help.. Thanx!

Settings>General>Resets>Erase All Content and Settings.
This time, when you go through the setup, tell it to restore from your iCloud backup.

  • Under iCloud backup, it says 'stop restoring iPhone' instead of 'back up now'? why does it say that? do i tap on 'stop restoring iPhone'?

Under iCloud Storage & backup, at the bottom of the page it says 'Stop Restoring iPhone' instead of 'Back up Now? did i do something wrong? Should i tap on 'Stop Restoring iphone'? this is a new 5c Iphone

Well, it is going to do a backup when you have it connnected to Wifi and plugged in (at least once a day). So, again, that is probably all it is doing now.
If you find that it is still saying this in, say, an hour, then reset the device (nothing will be lost): Hold down the Home and Power buttons at the same time and continue to hold them down until the Apple appears (up to 30 seconds). Once the Apple appears, the reset is taking place and the Home screen will display shortly. When the Home screen redisplays, go back and see if it is now showing the "Back up Now" button.
    Cheers,

I just bought a new iPhone and accidentally backed it up with my old iPhone backup, I do not want this. I lost everything on my new phone and I need it back. PLEASE HELP! This includes pictures and texts, etc.

So just to be clear, when you say "just bought" how long ago was that? Is it on this new iPhone that you had pictures, texts, etc that you want? Were you backing up to iCloud or onto iTunes?
This may not help for everything but if you go to iCloud.com and log in, are you able to find your pictures there?

  • I did an icloud backup on my old 4S with iOS 8.3 and wanted to install on my new iPhone 6 but it only has iOS 8.1.3! Can I do/use the backup after I chose "install as new iPhone"?

I did an icloud backup on my old 4S with iOS 8.3 and wanted to install on my new iPhone 6 but it only has iOS 8.1.3! Can I do/use the backup after I chose "install as new iPhone"?
Because I cannot update the software until I chose if I want to begin with a new phone setting or download a backup.
But the backup is of course not compatible with the old iOS.
So will it be possible to get the new iPhone going, then do the software update to 8.3 and then download / use the data from
    my 4S icloud backup?

    1. Settings > General > Software Update > Update the  to 8.3
    2. Settings > General > Reset > Erase All Content & Settings
    3. Reactivate phone and follow prompts to restore iCloud (or iTunes) backup.

Can someone at least point me in the right direction?

  • My wife's new iPhone was automatically backing up to iCloud. Now my 5mb limit is not allowing me to get my email. I turned off the automatic backup, but I do I get the storage capacity back?

My wife's new iPhone was automatically backing up to iCloud. Now my 5mb limit is not allowing me to get my email. I turned off the automatic backup, but I do I get the storage capacity back?

Turning off automatic backup doesn't delete anything from your account, it only stops it from continuing to back up to iCloud.  If you want to reduce your iCloud storage, this article provides some suggestions: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4847.

  • I accidentally set up my new iPhone 4S as a new phone instead of backing up from my iPhone 3.  Is there any way to get all my texts

I accidentally set up my new iPhone 4S as a new phone instead of using the backup I had from my old iPhone 3.  Is there anyway to get my texts & contacts from that old backup now?

Neither of the above two posts will help you. If you want to restore your new phone from the backup of your old phone, you will have to start from scratch. On your new phone: Settings>General>Reset>Erase All Content & Settings. Once done, you'll now be able to restore the backup of your old phone to your new phone.

  • Set up as new iphone but have backed it up before

I hooked my iphone into itunes in order to update it to the new software, but it is asking me to set my iphone up as a new iphone when i have backed it up before. I don't want to restore it and lose everything when I know that this shouldn't be happening. PLZ HELP

    Hi morganarndt,
Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
I know it can be worrying to not have your data on your iPhone. If you backed up before updating iOS, you can restore the backup to your iPhone using these steps:
    Restore from a backup
If you have a new iOS device, or if you need to restore your device to resolve an issue, use these steps:
Connect your iOS device to the computer that has your backup.
Install the latest version of iTunes.
Choose File > Devices > Restore from Back up.
    From:
Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes
    Best Regards,

  • Installing as new Iphone

Not so much a question, but just a couple things to bring up so maybe a developer can send in a bug that is in the phone, as well as a convenience feature added in itunes.
I have found a bug which I also have a workaround for. I can reproduce this bug everytime. Even on a fresh restore.  I have a hotmail account and when setting that account up if I go in to "Settings" -> "Mail Contacts and Calendars" -> (then select hotmail account) under Accounts -> "Mail Days to Sync" The default value after restore is 1 week. For example if you change it to no limit. and press the back arrow twice, then hit home button, then click on settings icon on homescreen to get back into settings, The value you selected has now reverted back to the one it was before. It doesn't matter which one you start with, it will always go back. The workaround I figured out is to select the new value, then double tap the home button and swipe it to get rid of the open settings , or to not go back twice after making your selection. This bug is reproduced when selecting any new value and hitting back twice, then going to homescreen.
Another annoyance issue I have is I had a major battery drain and charging issue, now I had to restore as a new phone and re-sync everything from scratch as my backup had something wrong with it causing the drain (I restored from backup twice without fixing the issue). Now I am setting up and selecting all my apps in itunes, now I have about 400 apps and my complaint here is that there is NO "SELECT ALL BUTTON" or "INSTALL ALL APPS" button. I just spent about 15 minutes clicking install on all my apps. It doesn't take a genious to figure out you should have a install all, or select all apps to install rather than selecting one by one.
Anyways, there's my input for the day.
    Thanks

  • I am setting up my new iPhone 5s with back up from iCloud but only my expired applied is recognised. even though i put in the original correct password it is not accepted as message comes up that "your apple id or password is incorrect". I am stuck.

I am setting up my new iphone 5s using a back up from icloud. Problem arises when asked for Apple id and password the second time for store purchases. It shows my old expired Apple id (my old email address). There is no option to change the id and even when I put in the correct password for the old id (used originally) it kicks me out with the message ""Your Apple ID or password is incorrect" .. this is true  as my apple id is wrong but I cant change it. Anyone know what I should do. Dont have access to my old deleted email account. Thanks

I have a new iPhone and have kept my old one to play music in another room.  I have recently updated my software on the new iPhone and when it backed up it backed up to the old iPhone, I have therefore lost pictures, messages and apps from my new iPhone as it has backed up to the last session of the old phone, how can I get all my new stuff back and stop it from happening again?

No such thing has occurred.  iPhones do not backup to one another.
It is not possible to backup a different iPhone from the one being updated.
If the iPhone was restored with a backup from a different device, restore it again from the correct backup.

Pay attention when restoring the iPhone and select the correct backup to restore from.

  • HT1766 I have restored my iphone instead of backing it up and have lost lots of photos, please help?

    Hi,
I have connected my phone to itunes and restored it instead of backing it up. I have lost about a years worth of photos.
My apps and notes are still there though.
please can anyone help me to recover my lost photos?
    Thanks

    Hey
To answer your question, a restore deletes everything of your iphone/ipod/ipad. Unless you have your photos on your comupter or a memory stick then sorry but you have lost them. Make sure that you back up ur iphone in the future regularly so that you dont lose ur stuff.
    Hope it helps Peter
