Installed FCP has white screen in viewer

I have Final Cut Pro 6.0.6 in my newer model macbook pro (Version 10.9, 2.2 GHZ Intel Core i7, 8 GB ram).  This computer went down, so to finish up a few projects while it was in the shop, I installed my Final Cut Pro 6.0.6 using the original discs into my imac (Version 10.9.1, 2.8 GHZ Intel, 4 GB RAM) and another Macbook pro (10.6.8, 2.3 GHz Intel Core 5, 4 GB ram).  In both of these computers, FCP was properly installed, but it would not play video that I shot with my JVC HM-GY100 camera.   After I capture the video, footage appears as just a white page in the viewer.  With my normal Macbook Pro, the video is captured and it works with no problems, it can be seen in the viewer and does not have to be rendered.  The footage has the following information.  1920 x 1080, mpeg-2 Video, Linear PCM, Time Code, Color Profile: HD (1-1-1).  I have checked the viewer and canvas and they both display RGB.  I got my MacBook Pro back from the shop.  The same footage that would not play in the newly installed FCP on the other computers, loaded up perfectly in my MacBook Pro. Would love to use the Final Cut Pro on a desktop computer for a future backup.  Does anyone have any ideas as to what I need to do to get FCP working in the imac?  Thanks for any help.

You are probably viewing the alpha channel only.
At the top of the viewer are three buttons. The rightmost one controls the view settings. Select RGB and life should be good again.
cheers,
x

i called the repair services and they say its hard disk problem
so i would like to ask everyone here if the problem would be solved if i just changed the original hard disk to a ssd myself or do i realy need to let them repair for me.
ps : i dont have warranty

See A flashing question mark appears when you start your Mac. I would suggest you try reinstalling OS X.
If you are running Snow Leopard:
Reinstall OS X without erasing the drive
    1. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions
Boot from your Snow Leopard Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the installer.
If DU reports errors it cannot fix, then you will need Disk Warrior and/or Tech Tool Pro to repair the drive. If you don't have either of them or if neither of them can fix the drive, then you will need to reformat the drive and reinstall OS X.
    2. Reinstall Snow Leopard
If the drive is OK then quit DU and return to the installer.  Proceed with reinstalling OS X.  Note that the Snow Leopard installer will not erase your drive or disturb your files.  After installing a fresh copy of OS X the installer will move your Home folder, third-party applications, support items, and network preferences into the newly installed system.
Download and install Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1.
If you are running Lion or Mountain Lion:
Reinstalling Lion/Mountain Lion Without Erasing the Drive
Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions: Upon startup select Disk Utility from the main menu. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions as follows.
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion: Select Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion and click on the Continue button.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.

iPod touch not responding and has white screen. Tried to restore, drain battery and re-charge etc but still nothing. What can I do?

Try what you have not tried so far. You may have tried all and the Apple store maybe in order.
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iPod fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - If still not successful that indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • Power Mac G5 on start up it repetedly has white screen with circling icon then just switches off

Power Mac G5... Pleas Help!!! i'm not sure if my hard drive is broken but on start up it repetedly has white screen with the circling (doing somthing) icon then just switches off. If i press alt when switching on i get a grey screen with 3 icons, 1st is like a refresh arrow button & last is a straight arrow button on pressing either of these mac just starts the white screen thing again, the middle icon is a picture of a hard drive with a blue cross in the corner & written under neath it says macintosh HD. Does this mean my hard drive has gone?

Been there, done that.  Try a Safe Boot (holding down the shift key at boot) and see if it boots.  If it boots, then you may be having problems with either the power supply or the video card.  What video card is in the machine?
If it does a safe boot OK, then we can troubleshoot using a verbose boot.  Verbose boot puts up a Unix Console screen and displays text output during the boot process.  When I had these symptoms, verbose boot showed me that the power supply was clicking off right after the kext to drive the GeForce 6800 card loaded.  I replaced the power supply and the problem went away.
To initiate a verbose boot, hold down the  cmd-V combination until you see the console screen come up.  Watch the output and pay attention, because you need to remember what is being said when the machine shuts down.  You may need to repeat this two or three times.
As an aside, often times power supplies exhibit this behavior when they have become choked with dust.  This is pretty universal after five or six years, requiring that the power supply be removed and the dust blown out with clean shop air.

  • My ipod nano 6th gen has white screen

please help my ipod nano 6th gen has white screen and wont go away, ive put into disk mode (dfu) and restored on itunes and still no resolution....ive tried hard reseting and still nothing

It might also be a good idea to let the iPod's battery fully drain. Then charge it back up and restore it once more in iTunes.
Otherwise, it's likely a hardware issue with the iPod's LCD display, meaning you'll need to take or send your iPod in for service either via Apple or a third party repair service. Here is Apple's repair pricing.
    http://www.apple.com/support/ipod/service/prices/
Note that they don't actually repair the device, but exchange it for one of the same generation, model, and capacity.  A third party service will actually replace the damaged part for a little less.  Google "iPod screen repair" and you should get a number of results to work with.

Intel OS X 10.7 iMac has white screen and three-alarm sound, won't start up

The 3 beeps during start-up are telling you that the RAM is bad.
If you can access the RAM modules, you may try taking them out and putting them back in, perhaps it's only bad contacts.
If that doesn't help, you'll need new RAM module(s).

  • Cant see any video only white screens in Viewer and Canvas

I dont know if anyone has encountered this figured out how to resolve it yet. In FCP 7 on Snow Leopard when i drag a clip into viewer or try to edit in the Canvas all i see is a white screen. The title safe lines and wireframe show up when i turn these on and off, but no video. I occasionally get a solarized image in the Canvas. the time code progresses, but nothing in either window.
    Thanks for any insights.

Thanks for all the suggestions, including links back to earlier discussions. This did shed some light, (and kicked me to be more explicit), when reviewing an earlier question on the same issue, but stating that this happened on an external Dell 2408 monitor...which is what I am using to edit. When i open the MBP and remove the video miniport cable and try to play on the laptop display, all is well, I can see video in both Viewer and Canvas. When i plug the monitor back in and drag these windows over to the monitor (cant move the FCP application wholesale) they also play fine. When i close the MBP, wait and refire it up with mouse or keyboard...I see video in both, but when i play either one the image jumps back and forth, cycling from one frame and back...while the time code advances and the audio track does too.

  • Installed Lion then white screen of death

Hello I just installed Lion based on an email that said I had to switch for the migration from Mobile Me to ICloud. As soon as it downloaded, there was a problem. A screen came up that said, problem loading restart to try again. I did and now I have the white screen of death with a flashing apple, file with a question mark and the no symbol, I.e. circle with a line through it.  I've shut down at least twice but when I restart all I get is the white screen and flashing symbols. Everything is backed up via my time machine but this is crazy. Pls help.  Thank you. T

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of this exercise is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login. Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Boot in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. The instructions provided by Apple are as follows:
Be sure your Mac is shut down.
    Press the power button.
Immediately after you hear the startup tone, hold the Shift key. The Shift key should be held as soon as possible after the startup tone, but not before the tone.
Release the Shift key when you see the gray Apple icon and the progress indicator (looks like a spinning gear).
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including wireless networking on certain Macs.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem(s)?
After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode.)

  • Updating to 4.2.1 has White Screened my Touch (3rd Gen)

I finally got tired of the IOS Update nag message and let iTunes do the update. I disconnected the touch after the sync and had to run out of the house. WHen I went to turn it on I was met with a white screen. Has anyone else experienced this? Any ideas? I have reset it, resynced it, restored, DFU'd and restored all to no avail. And the IOS still says 4.2.1! How can I be sure that this was IOS induced or a hardware failure? I am beside myself with frustration.

I decided to resync from a PC in work. I managed to set it up as a new phone and put on some podcasts no problem. So maybe the problem is with my itunes on my home PC ?
I might try to re-install it at home.
Good idea, but be aware that all media content will be erased again because you're syncing to a different iTunes library.
If you have things to keep, back up manually by right clicking on the phone in the device list and choosing "backup".
Make sure to have at least one contact and event set up on your PC to be able to merge your data during the first sync.
Purchases can be transferred by right clicking and choosing "transfer purchases" without the sync process.
