Installed firefox 4 and now mouse wheel doesn't scroll in browser

I upgraded to the Firefox 4 browser, and since then I cannot scroll using the "mouse wheel" on my laptop's touch pad in the browser window. It works fine in other applications. I tried the tips suggested for a similar problem with version 3.etc, etc, but they did nothing (eg; going into about:config and resetting or the options tab). Suggestions?

Go to tools , options, advanced, general and check the option for smooth scroll. :)

• Installed Firefox 3.6.10 now my mouse wheel doesn't scroll

I just installed FF 3.6.10 update, and now my mouse wheel doesn't scroll. I checked my mouse settings, and all is correct. Mouse wheel scrolls in non-Firefox applications, including off-line folders and online IE. Mouse wheel worked fine with last version of FF. Also tried hooking up a different mouse, (an old mechanical one at that), same problem. If this cannot be fixed, how can I uninstall the latest update and rollback to the previous version?

thanks for all the tips, however none of these work. Installed 3.6.10, 3.6.11 and latest version 3.6.13 but the mouse wheel is still not working.

• Uninstalled IE with flash player, installed firefox and added flash player - doesn't work!

Hey guys,
I have just used Revo Uninstaller Pro to remove IE 9 (I think ... it's the standard built in IE taht comes with my Win7 Home Premium 64 bit OS). I had flash player installed in IE. Upon uninstalling all flash components from my computer using Revo, I did an "advanced" search to find all leftover registry entries and files/folders associated with Flash. While doing this, Revo had warned me of some files that "have recently been added" (I believe since initial installation of Flash), and gave me the option of deleting these one at a time. I cannot remember what these files included, but looking at a posting from another person, i seem to recognize some files that I *may* have deleted while removing with Revo:
Flash10d.ocx
Flash10e.ocx
FlashUtil10e.exe
GetFlash.man
install.log
swflash.inf
uninstall_activeX.exe
(again, I have no idea if ANY of the above were the actual ones I deleted, but I seem to remember seeing a couple of these at least listed to me as options to delete)
I proceeded to remove ALL files from my computer.
Then, upon installing Firefox and, subsequently installing flash on it, I noticed that some flash websites load and work properly, whereas other ones don't. I also been to the adobe confirmation page stating taht I have successfully installed and am running Adobe Flash player. Is this simply a case of missing one key component in flash?
Before the entire uninstall mission I did, I remember revo as listing more than 1 Flash programs installed. I believe I had seen two flash 11 programs installed in Revo, which I thought were just simply duplicate installations. I vaguely remember one of them being listed as Flash player 11 and the other as Flash player 11 activex? (both were removed off my system).
Are these files different and did I, in fact, need both of these installed?
Anyway, I have no idea where to go from here. Help please!
Thanks!

So what Flash Player version do you have currently installed?

What exactly do you see on sites that don't work?

• I installed firefox and now I can't find my bookmarks

I installed firefox-and thought I had imported bookmarks from internet explorer. unfortunately not. is there any way to retrieve them? Without individually retyping then

Check the Bookmarks menu, is there a folder called "From Internet Explorer", if there is that folder should contain your IE favorites. If they are not there, see the [[Importing favorites and other data from Internet Explorer]] article.

• I have installed firefox and now have the icon but when i double click on ,nothing happens, please help

I am trying to change web browser from internet explorer to firefox, I have downloaded firefox but I am not able to use the icon . Nothing happens when I click on to use it. please help.

In case you haven't solved this by now...
Sometimes your security software will block new programs from accessing the internet. Are you getting any alerts along those lines?
Sometimes Firefox will stall during startup and never display its window. In that case, you may need to manually "kill" the firefox.exe process using the Windows Task Manager before trying to start Firefox again.
You can display the Task Manager by pressing Ctrl+Alt+Esc. Windows 8.1 has a different display than Windows 7, so I have to go by memory. If you see a tab named Applications, check that one first. Then check Processes, and finally check Details. If you find Firefox or firefox.exe on any of those tabs, select it and End Process (or other action to shut it down).
After you are done with the Task Manager, try starting Firefox up again.

Hi 463739,
Sorry you are having problems.
If they are general problems with a computer probably the best we can do is comment briefly and suggest where else you may get help.
*You seem to be posting from a Windows XP computer is that correct ?
* Is that the machine you have problems with ?
*What exactly do you mean by no desktop ?
( I wonder if Windows Explorer is failing )
*Try starting your computer in Windows Safe Mode.
See http://www.microsoft.com/resources/documentation/windows/xp/all/proddocs/en-us/boot_failsafe.mspx
If you suspect Malware the following is the standard advice. Note it is strongly suggested you use multiple scanning tools.
You can try these free programs to scan for malware, which work with your existing antivirus software:
* [http://www.microsoft.com/security/scanner/default.aspx Microsoft Safety Scanner]
* [http://www.malwarebytes.org/products/malwarebytes_free/ MalwareBytes' Anti-Malware]
* [http://support.kaspersky.com/faq/?qid=208283363 TDSSKiller - AntiRootkit Utility]
* [http://www.surfright.nl/en/hitmanpro/ Hitman Pro]
* [http://www.eset.com/us/online-scanner/ ESET Online Scanner]
* [http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/adwcleaner/ AdwCleaner: (for adware)]
* [http://www.kaspersky.com/security-scan Kaspersky Free security scan]
You need to use multiple and up-to-date tools as they will not all pick up the same things.
[http://windows.microsoft.com/MSE Microsoft Security Essentials] is a good FREE permanent antivirus for Windows 7/Vista/XP if you don't already have one.

Wheel doesn't scroll in firefox, but works fine in other browsers and windows softwares.

Are there any special settings in the "Control Panel > Mouse" for that scroll wheel and button?

I have a MacBook Pro 2007 and I installed Mac OS 10.6 but I lost power in the process and now the mac doesn't recognize my hard drive, how can I fix this

I've tried it but since I'm using a USB disk drive it keeps freezing up or showing you a folder blinking folder with a question mark. (?). When I start the mac up I hold the control button until the Mac OS install disk shows up. My hard drive doesn't show up anymore. Is there any other button I have to hold down to bring a different menu up. I have also tried to boot up holding control and C and nothing happens. Thanks for the help so far

• I installed CS6 and now Lightroom doesn't show CS5 as an Edit option

I installed CS6 and now Lightroom doesn't show CS5 as an Edit option. CS5 is still installed on my computer. How can I add it to Lightroom Edit options?
Mac 10.6.8

You can add CS5 as an "Additional External Editor" on the External Editing Tab of the Preferences panel. See this screenshot, I have Photoshop CS5 as my prime editor, and have added CS3 as an additional external editor:
Then when you use "Edit In...." you'll see both options available..

• Since installing lion firefox and now chrome won't work.

I used firefox (latest version) for most everything and it worked for 4 days after installing Lion 10.7.2 on my iMac. Then, when I clicked the icon for firefox only the toolbar at the top (file, edit, view, history...) showed up. Nothing opens a browser page. I uninstalled firefox and reinstalled it. Same issue, and now the icon has a circle with diagonal line over it. I gave up on firefox, as I was too busy to deal with it for now, and started using Safari and google chrome.
Now, 2 weeks later, googel chrome is having the exact same issue. Only the toolbar... Oh, and each time I discovered the issue with firefox and now chrome failing, Safari was sluggish and tho I can access everything else I can't make my yahoo mail open (yahoo opens but I can't see my actual mail).
All programs are up to date. My router and modem are working with a strong wifi signal. I can access yahoo mail on my iphone, so it's not that. I shut down my system and rebooted (several times). Reset my router and modems.... Help!
Any ideas? If Safari goes down, I'm stranded.

thx a brody, I apprecate your reply. Tho, that is only part of the issue. I did as you advised & installed a version of Firefox dedicated for intel CPU...now my icon looks perfect. However...I still have the same issue. ONLY the menu bar shows up for both firefox and google chrome (chrome never had the circle/line issue that firefox did).
The main issue is that the 2 browsers, besides Safari, worked for several days to 2 weeks on lion. Now when i click the icon for either, the menu bar is the only thing that shows up. I can select anything in the menu bar - my bookmarks even show in the bookmark menu, but don't go anywhere when selected. No browser page no matter what I do.
